You can thank President George Herbert Walker Bush for Justice Sotomayor- he put her on the U.S. District Court in New York. Without that push off, all of you right-wingers wouldn't be crying "racist." Also, Sotomayor is Puerto Rican...so allegations that she will favor illegal immigrants is irrelevant- Puerto Rican's aren't immigrants and don't need amnesty.

She will get confirmed. The Dems have a majority so they can appoint anyone that they want no matter how unqualified.

Liberals argue "so what 60% of the cases that she decided that went to the supreme court were overturned." They claim the supreme court is a conservative court so her decisions are expected to be overturned. However if even the liberal justice do not accept her rationale when they agree with her results how will she be a persuasive figure on the court? Answer: she will not be. She will not be able to counter Scalia, despite being billed as someone who might be able to do that.

I'm glad she will get a fair hearing soon. She is an amazing woman, and she will serve all of us well. All of you haters stop watching so much Faux News and focus on her entire record. She is much more moderate than Limpbaugh and other others have told you.

Diversity on the Supreme Court is a good thing. She is not the only justice who will be making decisions. The United States is multicultural and so should our Supreme Court.

Why is it so hard for people to understand that in the Ricci case the Supreme Court overturned ITSELF? If Sotomayor (and the other panelists) had ruled otherwise, they would have been "activists."

Now if only Scalia and Thomas would retire we can actually move this country forward out of the 17th century salem witch trial era and back into the 21st with the rest of the modern world.

congrats to the future jude sotomayor, and the comments from the fox false news crowd, and i have to say get an education or get a life. cnn why do you print such nonsense, and outright dumb remarks from these losers. the gop better walk on egg shells ,when they try to grill this qualified judge, their already finished as a party, and i cant wait to see .how they know they better humble themselves and ask questions of substance. the democrats really have 60 plus seats, because their is 2010 coming up and a few smart republicans will come on board as well. juge sotommayor ,god bless you and we are proud to have another woman on the supreme court ,and first latina.

@ J.P., who said "when Americans file suit against our Amnesty plans"

I know it's probably beyond you, but please, give it a shot at explaining why you would have standing.

    Dutch,

Does it matter? There will be a strict party line vote on this one. This constitutional scholar has serious reservations, but the appointees in the last several years (with the exception of Alito, whom even liberal judges I know say was well qualified) are typically void of judicial credentials. If Obama did not control Congress, you would not have seen Sotomayor. They are trying to get her on while they can.

    A brilliant move by Obama!

The neo-cons don't even know what will hit them (at least) the next 8 years! It's beyond their comprehension and the problem with dumb people is that they don't know that they are dumb! It's a good thing for everyone!

Gun/religion clingers, suck it up (at least) the next 8 years. Until then, keep doing research on Intelligent Design, touching yourselves and voting against same-sex marriage! You'll feel better, hypocrites! :)

It doesn't matter what morons say, it's payback time! :)

    A brilliant move, Obama! :)

    Checkmate!

Scott, come on now, your playing with words. You know the correct question is how many jobs did Obama save today.

MY THOUGHTS FOR SOTOMAYOR ARE, RETIRE NOW AND LIVE A
A LONG LIFE ,MAKE BIG BUCKS AND DONATE IT TO YOUR
FAVORITE CHARITY-MAKES MORE SENSE AND IS THE MOST
PRACTICAL THING TO DO. MORE PEOPLE WILL BENIFIT THAT
WAY, INSTEAD OF ON A "HIGH COURT". THAT POSITION IS REALLY
NOT PRODUCTIVE TO THE SO CALLED MAN OR WOMEN OF ANY
    ETHENTICTY. GO AMERICA!!!!!!!

OK Dems, here are today's talking points. Sotomayor is not a racist because she is a Democrat. The rules don't apply when you are a Dem.

SORRY, NO COMMENTS ON ANYTHING OBAMA SAYS OR DOES–
THAT IS WHY I USE THIS OPENING FOR MY OPINION. THAT BEING
THAT GOOD PRESIDENT JUST CAN NOT GET OVER HIS EGO.
THE PEOPLE ARE HIS PRIOROTIES AND HE IS FAILING BIG TIME.
I WISH THE BEST FOR MY COUNTRY,SINCE I WAS A YOUNG BOY–
I HAVE THOUGHT MY COUNTRY WAS THE BEST AND IT STILL IS-
IT IS DIFFICULT TO WATCH THE DEBACLE OF THIS NATION BY
SELF SERVING FOLKS AND NOT THE INTERESTS OF THIS COUNTRY. VOTERS HAVE NO REPRESENTATION AT STATE LEVEL
ANYMORE. IF YOU GIVE BUCKS TO A CANDIDATE YOU GET REWARDED-–SOMTHING IS REALLY WRONG HERE. THE PEOPLE RULE-THAT IS THE RULE OF LAW.

    Michael,

I doubt any liberal has ever read Road to Serfdom. It would be too much for them to realize that they are digging their own graves.

Yo Jimmy the Greek – If that's what you think its humor or funny... as for the apathy, GWB got a second term didn't he?
On the issue at hand, Sniffit is right. Franken makes fillibuster-proof magic 60th Dem senator, so if there's no 'betrayal' she's the new Justice. Unless something really big and bad, unlike an 'out-of-context' quote or a reversed ruling on a major divisive issue – I do mean something REALLY BIG AND BAD -, she's the next new face at the SCOTUS...

Another racist in the Supreme Court. This is great. Maybe she'll bring back segregation and the 2/3rds rule only this time she can oppress White males for freeing the slaves, championing the suffrage movement and making our nation the most prosperous nation in the history of the world. No wonder she hates White males.

jimmy the greek.......bravo i like how you said that...how can she or anyone even be proud of being put into office by Obama..."mr affirmative action" ......its so obvious that he's only putting minorities into office...."so does that mean that all minorities are more qualified because they are minorities"......I guess we want icons and celebrities in office in office rather than leaders.....minorities are and underpriveldged are loving whats going on because they've been waiting for handouts since they were born......i know because thats how all my family and friends and almost everyone i know who is hispanic is...except the men in my family

Philibuster proof? They better take a look who is sitting next to them in the senate. There are some moderate and conservative democrats that may not take up the party line. Part of what seems to be going on is this polarization of right and left. What are you if you believe in the following:
    1. Financial responsibility for yourself and your government.
    2. Personal responsibility for yourself and your family.
    3. The right to believe in whatever God or deity you want for all.
    4. Less government and less taxation to support an overinflated government bureaucracy.
