ANCHORAGE, Alaska (CNN) - Sarah Palin's not a quitter, she wants the public to know.

"I am not a quitter. I am a fighter," Palin told CNN on Monday while on a family fishing trip, on the heels of her Friday bombshell announcement that she was resigning as Alaska's governor.

Palin did her interview standing on the shores of Dillingham, Alaska, wearing hip waders. She granted 10-minute interviews to CNN and three other news networks Monday.

She resigned because of the tremendous pressure, time and financial burden of a litany of ethics complaints in the past several months, she said. The complaints were without merit and took away from the job she wanted to do for Alaskans, Palin said.

The decision to resign a year and a half before her term ends, and her rambling, often-disjointed resignation speech Friday, fueled days of debate among political analysts.

Speculation has run rampant that Palin, the Republican vice presidential candidate in 2008, will seek the presidency in 2012.

When pressed about her future, Palin would say only that she would work in public service. She did not rule out a run for the White House or any other political office.

Palin is to leave the governor's office in late July.

The days since her resignation had been exhilarating and she loved being in Dillingham, a town of only a few thousand people and no cell phone service, Palin said.

On Monday, her personal lawyer also spoke about her resignation.

No legal "bombshell" or personal scandal lies behind Palin's resignation, but off-color jokes by talk-show host David Letterman contributed to her decision to step down, Thomas Van Flein said.

The governor needed a break after being "on duty now for two and a half years solid," he said.

"There is no bombshell. There is no shoe to drop. There are no investigations of any type that I'm aware of - no IRS audit, no federal investigation, no state investigation," Van Flein told CNN. "There is no legal reason in terms of a legal problem that compelled the governor to resign."

Friday was "deliberately chosen" for the announcement because of its proximity to the July Fourth holiday, Van Flein said: "She declared her independence from politics as usual."

Palin reiterated that statement in her interview.

Rep. Les Gara, an Anchorage Democrat and a frequent Palin critic, said everyone was "wildly surprised" by Palin's announcement.

"A lot of us were pretty disappointed in the concept that she can't finish out a governor's term," Gara said. Palin's resignation speech was "kind of similar to everything that has gone wrong since the governor has gotten back from her vice presidential campaign," Gara said.

"When she came into office, everything was about openness and transparency, and now everything's about excuses," he said.

But Rep. Jay Ramras, a Fairbanks Republican who leads the state House Judiciary Committee, said when it comes to public opinion, "The concrete hasn't set up yet."

"Those that seem to have responsibilities to manage businesses that manage people seem to be much less tolerant of what she did," Ramras said after attending Independence Day events over the weekend. Those people consider her "a quitter," he said.

"And then there's another group, where Gov. Palin has been successful in being able to imply - and certainly these people have inferred - that she was a victim."

The 45-year-old governor had faced intense scrutiny since Sen. John McCain picked her out of relative obscurity to be his running mate last year.

Though her acceptance speech drew rave reviews, her subsequent shaky performance in network news interviews, the drama surrounding her 18-year-old daughter's pregnancy and two ethics probes into her earlier firing of the state's public safety director dogged her throughout the rest of the campaign.

"In my opinion, she was the national campaign for Republicans last fall," Van Flein said. "I know John McCain was the candidate, but the decision was really about Sarah Palin and could she take on Obama. That was a lot of weight on her shoulders to carry that campaign, and they almost pulled it off."

As Election Day neared with McCain trailing in the polls, campaign aides began sniping at Palin as a "diva" who ignored top advisers and lacked "fundamental understanding" of key issues in the race. The McCain-Palin ticket ultimately lost to Democrats Barack Obama and Joe Biden last November.

Van Flein also said Palin would remain involved in public service, with no other decisions made at this point. But Gara said it was clear to him that Palin has her eye on another bid for national office.

"We can all guess," he said. "My guess is the governor wants to be president, and that's what she should have said at her press conference."

Palin thought she would stop being a "lightning rod" once she returned to Alaska, but "it never really did simmer down," Van Flein said. Ethics complaints from critics led to her paying back taxes on state per diem funds she received while living at her home in Wasilla, outside Anchorage; another investigation led to her paying about $8,100 in travel expenses for her children.

Van Flein said the state's ethics process, which Palin signed into law, has been "abused" to harass her and may lead Alaskans to ignore more serious allegations. And he said Letterman's early June joke about one of her daughters being "knocked up" by New York Yankees outfielder Alex Rodriguez "demonstrated to her that there's some sort of disconnect here."

"When people don't accept normal bounds of decency making jokes like that about children, maybe this is not good for the state right now," Van Flein said. "And maybe somebody else who is not the subject, and whose family is not the subject of this scrutiny, can move the state forward."

Letterman said the joke was aimed at Palin's older daughter, Bristol, who had a son with her high-school boyfriend in December. However, Palin was in New York traveling with her 14-year-old daughter Willow at the time, and she accused Letterman of making jokes about sex with an underage girl.

The CBS "Late Show" host ultimately apologized, saying "If you have to explain the joke, it's not a very good joke."

Despite leaving office about two-thirds of the way through her term, Palin "is not a quitter," Van Flein said. He added that she "already accomplished her major goals," including winning legislative approval for a massive natural gas pipeline.

But Ramras, who calls himself "a pro-development, conservative Republican," called that assertion "crazy." Though the pipeline project won approval in the state Legislature, Alaska has yet to establish a "durable and predictable" financial structure that will get producers to commit to the plan.

"Anyone who thinks we've started anything is delusional. ... What she did was she created a Gordian knot and then handed it off to someone else," he said.

If you quit something, like your job, you are a quitter. That is the definition of a quitter...someone who quits something instead of seeing it through to the end.
David Letterman was a factor in her stepping down???? A comedian helped to drive out a sitting governor?
She needs a break after being on-duty for 2 years? What happens if she is elected President? She'll just quit if it gets too exhausting?
Wake up. this woman is a joke – Alaska will be better off.

anita ms   July 7th, 2009 10:07 am ET

Oh please Sarah save your excuses! You quit on the Alaska people and let them all down! You was never ready to be a governor, yet alone the President of the US. You cant handle the pressure people put on you, guess what get over it and grow up gal! They redicule then Senator Obama, with rev wright, clinging to there guns, even his wife with her phrase im proud of my country for the 1st time in my adulthood, and etc see the strong survive Sarah and endure until the end maam! It wasnt easy for him and he hung in there. Even Hilliary got beat up and came out on top she didnt quit you sore looser! Politics are not for you and you shouldnt have never been governor in the first place. grow up and get a life!

Another point   July 7th, 2009 10:06 am ET

Gov. Palin has a great list of accomplishments in her time in office but the presidential election was her undoing. Alaskans have different life styles than the lower 48. You'd be hard pressed to find an Alaskan politician who hasn't hunted and fished as that's the norm. The liberal public who as liberals should stand for allowing others to live the life styles they choose are disallowing that in her case. What has happened to liberalism and therefore being non-judgemental in America? Look in the mirror, liberals. The future ain't pretty.

Sharon   July 7th, 2009 10:06 am ET

I am sorry, but Sarah Palin did quit her position as Governor before her term was up. She made this decision. Regardless of her reasons, bottom line is Sarah quit!!!!

church of realism   July 7th, 2009 10:05 am ET

Only Palin could quit as gov and state with a straight face that she's not a quitter. Up is down, left is right if you're a republican.

Jack   July 7th, 2009 10:04 am ET

How can Sarah Palin possibly think this is a good step towards the White House and how can any of her supporters possibly endorse this? Will she quit the presidency, too, whenever she feels like she's done enough? Does she resign because there is too much media scrutiny? It's never going to go away if she's president... it will only get worse. Palin has made it clear that she will run away when the going gets rough. How can anyone possibly rally behind her? George Bush turned the Republican Party into a national punching bag and anyone who promotes Sarah Palin as the face of conservative politics is only prolonging the sad, sorry joke. Please... I'm begging the Republican leadership to find a reasonable, rational and real candidate that can rise above the three-ring circus with broad, forward-looking ideas and legitimate crossover appeal. The only people at the top of the party now are cartoonish buffoons living in their own delsuional world where successful spin is the ultimate endgame and reality becomes so warped as to honestly believe that anything they say out loud becomes truth.

Razor Willy   July 7th, 2009 10:04 am ET

What a nut job

Charlie in Maine   July 7th, 2009 10:04 am ET

Maybe things work differently in the new Republican party. Sanford shows he has the best interest of SC at heart by refusing the stimulus package for his people (then arranging his own) and staying put when even his own friends want him gone, Sarah Palin proves she is not a "quitter by um...............quitting, George Bush proves he is compassionate by invading and occupying a country who never attacked us, Newt Gingrich proves he is smart by saying the stupidest tthings. Does anyone else see a pattern here?

Keith A Sillsbury   July 7th, 2009 10:03 am ET

I quit but I'm not a quitter. After two and a half years I need a break? Good one, hey terrorists we call a time out, my shoe lace is untied. yeah sarah stay in public service, someone needs to ride on the back of the truck picking up the trash. It'd be a good lesson in humility for you. The republican party is comming to its end, they don't know who they are or what the people want. Now theres room for the green party and the independant party and others. Hopefully the news will give them the air time or Obama will change the rules to level the playing field. your carreer in politics is over sarah, good bye and good riddance.

Glenn Doty, Columbia, SC   July 7th, 2009 10:03 am ET

That's right! Palin is NOT a quitter! That's why she quit... because she's a fighter, and fighters always quit when the going gets tough...

Er...

Well, she's not any less sensible or coherent than she was when she was campaigning to be a heartbeat away from the presidency (and the heartbeat in question is pushing 80)... I wonder if her flock of screaming fans still support her as she "fights" (quits) all the tough stuff she has (had) on her plate... (and goes fishing).

Kelby In Houston, TX   July 7th, 2009 10:03 am ET

"I am not a quitter. I am a fighter," Palin told CNN
So, you're fighting back by quitting? Are you serious?

"She resigned because of the tremendous pressure, time and financial burden of a litany of ethics complaints in the past several months, she said."
Usually, people get fired for a litany of ethics complaints.

You would think that once she retired her post, we could retire her from the ticker. Now everybody is disappointed

Franky, Land of Lincoln   July 7th, 2009 10:02 am ET

You know guys, I feel bad for her, I do. She doesn't deserve this but do you know what I think the problem is???

I know what she is trying to do, she is basically trying to erase "politician" our of her skin...or body, if you wanna talk sexy is up to you, LOL!!! But the point is, she's trying to erase it, she wants it away, she does. But that's the problem, she doesn't understand, she has to go way back when she started...guys, she's not actor, a teacher, a student, etc, she was in the Vice Presidential ticket, she's the first female for the GOP, does she understand that? The meaning?

And when I hear talk about "reformer" "loser" or whatever, I think it is all speculation. I remember I said I was gonna follow her before on Twitter(hey, is what I do, LOL!!) but do you know why I don't? She's not worth it, she's not. She's not intimate, she's not affable, she is not who I think she is, that's why I don't follow her. And I sure as hell ain't gonna go on the bandwagon. Is the same defense..."She's real. She's honest. She's a mom. Etc." You know, I don't need to get remember who's real or not, all I need to get reminded if you are worth being my President...

She doesn't like it, she doesn't. And let alone her T.V appearances, my goodness. I give her this...she tries, she does. But boy, she hopes people remember her for what she did, but unfortunately, people already remember for what she didn't do.

I'm gonna tell you right now, even in her Facebook or Twitter, she ain't even intimate, or let alone, out there. The people that are following her or like her are really all she has and that's how she's communicating? Let alone from day one the election was an afterthought, and now she's taking a page out of my boy?? How ironic, you could already see the future...

By the way, tell me how I did that??? LOL!!! :) Work baby, work.

But I hope she's fine, I pray for her, I do. But boy...I'm glad she ain't special to me, LOL!!! :) Ouch!!!!

She's doing it wrong, wrong...

Randall - Desert Storm Veteran   July 7th, 2009 10:01 am ET

No Sarah. You are not a quitter. But the whole world is glad you did. Now be a good Playmate and go make some moose stew in the nude.

SARAH PALIN IS A "QUITTER" A "LIAR" AND A "DESTROYER OF ENGLISH LANGUAGE".

However, Palin claims they were "Without Merit."

LOL, reminds me of the Wizard of OZ: Pa no attention to that man behind the curtain!

Ken in NC   July 7th, 2009 9:59 am ET

If Gov Palin is a fighter as she says, then I suspect she has taken one to many punches to the head. She punches back at everything said about her and her family. Now I admit I am not a Palin supporter but her family should be off limits. Having said that, my thoughts are that she inserted her family by bringing them with her almost everywhere she went. As a politician, she needs to develope a thinker skin so she does not take every attack personally.

Carlos L. Harrisburg PA   July 7th, 2009 9:59 am ET

Ok let me see if I get this. She is not a quitter but she is living office a 18 months before her term. And that makes her a fighter how. It sounds to me like a quitter. ( If you can not take the heat get of the kitchen ) and she did.

Edward Veidt   July 7th, 2009 9:59 am ET

She quit because of pressure?

And she thinks she can handle being president? Oh, please.

Karen-phoenix   July 7th, 2009 9:59 am ET

She's a quiter!!! She quite 5 colleges, she quite the mayors job in Wassilla, she quite her job with the oil line company and NOW she quite the govenors job!!! When she quite all those colleges she kept going to less accreditied ones and looks like she is doing the same thing!!! NO MORE PALIN!!! She a NUT case!!!

kgeukes   July 7th, 2009 9:57 am ET

And pigs fly!!!!! This woman has yet to give us the real reason why she "didn't quit". I figure it's because she couldn't handle the heat of the job. She's a quitter and if she thinks she has a chance to become Prez, then she's delusional. Stay home, take care of your children and maybe, just maybe, your younger daughter won't wind up preggers like big Sissy!!!!

Barry in MO   July 7th, 2009 9:57 am ET

Ummm, Sarah, you resigned your office; ergo, you are, in fact, a quitter.

What happened to the self-proclaimed pit bull? Last I checked, fighters put up their dukes and slugged it out in tough situations. Sarah went fishing?

Nice to know that if she were president and things got tough with North Korea, she could blame the media, feign indignation and resign. THat's not a maverick, that's a quitter.

Pat Dunedin Fl   July 7th, 2009 9:57 am ET

One who does not finish a term, is a quitter. This is the highest
political office in Alaska. She let her state down. Thank God
the public can see right through her and she did not win in
November. She will say it was family etc. Then she should
stay out of politics. Maybe she has a hormone problem and
has mood swings. I think she loves attention and suffers from
Anita Bryant syndrome. Everytime she comes on the
TV , I feel a sudden urge to hurl. Please do not give her any
more FREE Air Time!!!!!!!!

Paul , St. Louis MO   July 7th, 2009 9:56 am ET

Her last days in office are on a fishing trip. This is the true work ethic of the Governor. She is not a quittier but she quit. She is now on her way to a book deal and to make lots of money for being a Governor for about 2 to 3 years and leaving her during her term.

Roger   July 7th, 2009 9:55 am ET

Mrs. Palin please shut your mouth. You are only bringing more humilation upon yourself.

KING   July 7th, 2009 9:54 am ET

. . . but then she quit and waded away, gnawing a stick with her rodentlike front teeth and keeping an eye out for salmon. "President?" she muttered. "Well, but only for a year. Then I'd like to be a fire chief and ride on the big red fire engine, and after that I could be an airline stewardess and get everybody drinks!" Suddenly she dove after a fish and was seen no more.

Shucks   July 7th, 2009 9:54 am ET

Now she can devote all of her free time to dividing the country every chance she gets. The republicans will surely blame the liberal democrats for her resignation. I blame only one person. Palin herself. She so much desired the spotlight, but only on her terms, and only when she wanted it. In America that is not the way it has been for 30+ years. The media bated her and she bit every time. She was an embarrassment for the republican party trying to find itself. Don't worry being the true politician that she doesn't want anyone to think she is, will be in the limelight every chance she gets. I just hope she can take the heat of being nothing more than a mouth piece. At least she was Governor before, now she is just media fodder.

Tim in NC   July 7th, 2009 9:54 am ET

But thanks are in order, you have done more damage to your own political career than anyone else EVER could have.

The one thing that bugs me the most about this whole deal was her comment that OTHER PEOPLE have resigned their posts to pursue greater callings and we didn't criticize them. The comment was obviously about President Obama. Here's the difference, Mrs. Palin: the President left his Senate seat BECAUSE HE WAS ELECTED PRESIDENT!

You still have yet to articulate what "higher calling" you are supposedly leaving to fulfill. If it is RUNNING for President, how dare you compare yourself to the person who was actually ELECTED to that office?

Palin's behavior–and more importantly what passes for her "logic"–is bizarre and confusing.

Neiki   July 7th, 2009 9:38 am ET

The far left liberal nut jobs are scared to death of this woman.

The liberals keep saying Palin doesn't stand a chance and that she's stupid, etc. etc. (their usual mean spirited comments/attacks). If Palin 'will never win' then why are the liberals spending so much time and money attacking her? Like I said- they are scared to death of this woman. Once Obama finishes dismantling the US and loses more and more support from the Independents (the one's who voted him in)- it will be interesting to see what happens. At that point- even Sarah Palin will have a chance. Stay tuned liberals....

If Palin decides to run in 2012 she will be facing a President who will have accomplished many of his campaign goals in his first years in office. While she will have the stigma of having abandoned her constituents halfway through her first term before she actually accomplished any of the goals she campaigned on.

Palin is one strange bird! If she quit becauseshe was under too much pressure for ethics, she could NEVER handle the highest office! Not that I ever thought she could. God help us if she ever did run for President! Scary thought indeed! I think she quit because someone offered her a big money job doing something else. I think she loves the spotlight and attention, and no way would she leave public office to spend more time with family. She's too self-centered for that. She has proven here that she is not dependable and IS a quitter, no matter what she says!

"Life is too short to compromise time and resources... it may be tempting and more comfortable to just keep your head down, plod along, and appease those who demand: Sit down and shut up, but that's the worthless, easy path; that's a quitter's way out. And a problem in our country today is apathy. It would be apathetic to just hunker down and go with the flow." So instead of taking the quitters way out, she chose to quit.

Roy Arellano (San Antonio)   July 7th, 2009 8:49 am ET

It doesn't matter who she is, to quit in the middle of your first term. To quit before finishing the mision, is quiting. Even if the reasons or excuses are legitimate, quiting is still quiting.

How can you turn around and say, I've been a political "executive," or I know how to lead representatives of the People towards political success, if you desire not to even complete the task at hand.

Any military person knows as well as I do, quiting is quiting.

Quit my job, gone fishing, "you betch ya". Not a quitter huh? You have a moral obligation, a verbal contract, and millions of donated campaign funds to place you, where you asked to be. Do us all a favor, stay out of politics. We have had enough Republican disappointments to last a generation. Should you decide to run for the presidential office in 2012, Obama will have to send you packing for your next fishing trip, again. Oh, by the way Sarah, I am a registered Republican who voted for Mr. Obama, and so far, no regrets.

RMC   July 7th, 2009 8:46 am ET

If she was really a fighter she would stay in office and fight. She is a complete narcissist, only out for herself and her own self-interests and evidently not altogether there in the brain department. Her resignation is a slap in the face to all of her supporters and anyone who still supports her in light of this type of behavior (are you there "Team Sarah"?) really needs to take a step back and get their priorities in order.

Cincinnati611   July 7th, 2009 8:46 am ET

Total nonsense from Sarah Palin. Next thing you know, she'll claim she doesn't wear glasses! What a goof-ball!!

Alex   July 7th, 2009 8:46 am ET

What a joke. The Republicans can have her run for President and lose. She is an idiot!

Tina   July 7th, 2009 8:45 am ET

Why don't people leave this woman alone? She will soon no longer be a public figure. She and her family deserve privacy. So leave her alone!!!

Scott, Tucson   July 7th, 2009 8:45 am ET

Well we know that the FBI is not investigating Sara, they're too busy investigating the democrats on the Hill.

letsgetreal   July 7th, 2009 8:45 am ET

She can't take the heat as Governor, but wants to be President?
Right. NOT!!!!
Buh Bye Sarah.

Susan   July 7th, 2009 8:44 am ET

She is a quitter, plain and simple. If she could not handle the pressure of running for national office, or handle the pressure of the remainder of her term as governor, how in Gods name could she handle being President??!! Imagine her making a rambling statement and use the pity party excuse to another foreign leader ! This woman is a total failure at her job, and at other jobs she has attempted. She has quit before. No backbone for when the going gets tough. What I fund so funny is that she criticized Hillary Clinton when showing emotion, but God forbid anybody criticize her! Good Riddance!!

Donna   July 7th, 2009 8:44 am ET

So Palin, if you became President and you one day decided that you didn't want that job anymore... would you quit that too?

Grog in Ohio   July 7th, 2009 8:42 am ET

"She resigned because of the tremendous pressure, time and financial burden of a litany of ethics complaints in the past several months, she said."

In other words... she quit? Does she even attempt to be logical? Ever?

Vigla   July 7th, 2009 8:41 am ET

Oh, sure. You're not a quitter. I think Richard Nixon said that too... Look, I don't wan't some flake to be POTUS, OK? This woman doesn't deserve the attention she's getting. She ran a state I could run and she quit because of the pressure? PLEASE! I'm sick and tired of hearing about her. Bottom line is she didn't want to go through the re-election process and figured she had enough of being Gov. Besides, the whole reason she ran was to get her brother in law fired and was unsuccessful.

Everyone, please forget about Palin. She can't handle the pressure of being Gov of the least populus state and you think she can handle being President? ARE YOU SERIOUS?

Margi   July 7th, 2009 8:41 am ET

Yes Sarah, you are a quitter. You can dish out a lot of nonsense but you can't take it. Quitter.

Tarheel   July 7th, 2009 8:40 am ET

I love the way Sarah Palin can work the left-wing nuts in a "foam at the mouth frenzy" just by mentioning her name. They will have a fit when it's President Palin they're talking about. Get used to it.

henry dangote   July 7th, 2009 8:40 am ET

I am just waiting for the day this lady will take responsibility for her actions and stop blaming somebody else.

The Party of NO stood calmly by for 8 year while the shrub raped and pillaged America, so, why would we listen to you now?   July 7th, 2009 8:39 am ET

"one that quits ; especially : one that gives up too easily"

Spin it however, you want twit, but here is the definition of "quitter" straight from Websters.

And you are the very definition of quitter, and only those neo-cons that share that parallel universe in which you exist will agree with you.

Too bad, I did want you to run in 2012, you betcha'!

todd   July 7th, 2009 8:38 am ET

Get real Sarah, you did quit no putting a spin on it. If you can't handle a State how are going to handle running a country when the pressure is worst 24 hours a day.

Florida Joe   July 7th, 2009 8:38 am ET

First she doesn’t know what the Bush doctrine is, now she doesn’t know the meaning of QUITTER………How many colleges did she go to to get that degree?
Money well spent……..NOT
Take away the cameras and maybe she will go away!!

Anonymous   July 7th, 2009 8:37 am ET

Please go away .

Concerned about immaturity   July 7th, 2009 8:36 am ET

I agree she is not a quitter. She only needs to grow up since every time she says something it looks like those words are coming from a teenager.

Get Real   July 7th, 2009 8:36 am ET

In 2008 when asked about Hilliary Clinton's on complaining about HER treatment by the media, Suing Sarah said:

"I say this with all due respect to Hillary Clinton…but when I hear a statement like that coming from a woman candidate with any kind of perceived whine about that excess criticism or you know maybe a sharper microscope put on her, I think you know that doesn’t do us any good – women in politics, women in general wanting to progress this country."

So it is ok for her to quit over a Letterman joke, but Hillary should just stop whining. Can ANY of her supporters see the hypocrisy?

I hope CNN will publish this as it needs to be seen and Suing Sarah SHOULD be asked about this.

Indy in PA   July 7th, 2009 8:35 am ET

OK, it was fun to make fun of Palin for a few days and believe me I did my share, but isn't it time to let it go? It's getting almost as grotesque as the 24/7 Michael Jackson ghoulishness. The woman quit, game over, move on and let her and all of us who don't particularly care what she does next do the same. There are much, much bigger stories out there. What's happening with Iran? How do we stand on health care? PLEASE talk about something that could actually affect our lives for a change!!!

Lowell   July 7th, 2009 8:35 am ET

Uh, you quit. You're a quitter.

Things didn't go your way, you quit. That means you're a quitter.

What about this do you not understand?

Patti   July 7th, 2009 8:35 am ET

"I'm a fighter so I quit so I could fight." Get it?

Brent   July 7th, 2009 8:34 am ET

Rambling resignation speech? Maybe she should use a teleprompter.

Obama, will teleprompters become standard on GM cars?

Mike   July 7th, 2009 8:34 am ET

She is a strong conservative and would make a great president. Face it, anyone would be better than the tax and spend obama.

Kevin in Ohio   July 7th, 2009 8:33 am ET

Let the left-wing hate mongers begin their vitriol.......

Bob   July 7th, 2009 8:32 am ET

Even GOP strategist's have said she has quit every job she has ever had. If that isn't the sign of a quitter I don't know what is.

William   July 7th, 2009 8:32 am ET

Let me try to make sense of this. Gov. Palin is not a quitter but she is quitting her job. She is a fighter but does not fight all the accusations. She is overburned as a governor yet is thought to want to be the president of an entire country. Am I missing something, or what...

Rosa, b'ham al   July 7th, 2009 8:32 am ET

She is just confused .

beth   July 7th, 2009 8:32 am ET

No more face time for this hillbilly harpie, please!

Common Sense   July 7th, 2009 8:32 am ET

Seriously Palin. Shut it, we are tired of your moaning and crying when you don't get your way.

I've never seen a grown woman cry so much for things she should have simply fly by with little effect.

She quit. She's a quitter. You can't quit without being a quitter.

Yay. It's kindergarden common sense.

Brian   July 7th, 2009 8:31 am ET

By her reasoning every polotician should quit when the going gets tough, or they can't get anything done.

Jason   July 7th, 2009 8:31 am ET

Blah, blah, blah....She must have a completely different definition of 'quitter' than everyone else in this world. She's quit every political office she's held....city council, mayor, Lt. Govenor, and Govenor. Go away in to obscurity already and take your illusions of grandure with you.

We Love Sarah   July 7th, 2009 8:30 am ET

I'm not quitting either. I am just not doing the job that I asked the people to let me do.

If this nut-job thinks that the public is vicious now, wait until she tries to become President.

The worst thing is that there are plenty of kooks in America that will vote for this weak excuse of a leader.

Maybe she will want to take me to court now?

Larry from RI   July 7th, 2009 8:30 am ET

Um, yes you are a quitter – you quit didn't you?
Or do you prefer a more Bush-like term?
Something like "the resigner" perhaps?

Vanessa   July 7th, 2009 8:29 am ET

If she can't handle the pressure of being a governor, what makes her think she can be president?

dblzap   July 7th, 2009 8:29 am ET

Even though I am Quitting I AM NOT A QUITTER!

What a crock

The GOP is a laughing stock

Llibertarian   July 7th, 2009 8:28 am ET

This woman totally baffles me. She is saying that the media is unfair to her?????!??!!?!!?!? This coming from the woman who's only purpose on the campaign trail seemed to be fanning the flames of hate for Obama. Remember the rallies where she had crowds yelling "TREASON!!!" and "TERROIST...KILL HIM!!!"? Ms. Palin laughed and riled the crowd even more.

Well Sarah....did you look this up in the bible? Maybe you should look under ".......what you sew, so shall you reap"

Anonymous   July 7th, 2009 8:28 am ET

Shut up Sarah...you can't hack a term as governor. You are weak, inept, incompetent, delusional, and just plain stupid. When someone who sought the vice presidency can't even finish out their FIRST term as governor, it's clear that person was never ready for national office. Soon to be Ex-Gov. Palin, you have not and will not ever be anywhere near smart enough to be a national leader of this country. You are a disgrace to your state and a punch line in the other 49.

A Real American   July 7th, 2009 8:28 am ET

I'm not a quitter she said shortly after submitting her resignation.

I'm also not a hypocrite. Nor clueless.

Also.

Like my hip waders?

Justin in Massachusetts   July 7th, 2009 8:27 am ET

What on earth would she have done if we had elected her and McShame to the Vice Presidency and Presidency? Step down 8 months into it because she couldn't handle it? Once again, I am 100% satisfied that I voted for Obama and not this clowny beauty queen. If Palin couldn't win against Obama in 2008, there's no way she's going to win against him as a sitting president in 2012.

Case Closed, Obama/Biden '12.

J   July 7th, 2009 8:27 am ET

Comment to the media...........great job on talking about something that is just a complete waste of time. She is loving the free publicity and if she makes a run in 2012 – what a joke that would be.

Billy3000   July 7th, 2009 8:26 am ET

She had her chance in the spotlight and came up wanting. It's time to move on. Unfortunately, it appears that she, as so many politicians and celebrities do, has surrounded herself with people telling her what she wants to hear. I'm afraid we haven't seen the last of her. Too bad for the Republicans. Democracy requires an articulate and effective opposition. So far the GOP has been about as effective in the opposition as the Democrats before them. This kind of media circus just makes all involved look more interested in gaining power than the daily grind of executing it.

lieNoMore   July 7th, 2009 8:25 am ET

Enough already!! This woman is psycho idiot. How she ever rose to a position such as governor of a state is nothing less than remarkably shameful. This brain dead moron makes Quayle, Reagan, and Dubya look like an intelligent pile of bricks.

SHIRLEY SDL   July 7th, 2009 8:25 am ET

For the life of me I cannot understand this country's fascination with this woman. In my opinion, she has been a bad mother for exposing her children to all the mess since she came out of Alaska. She drags them before the cameras way too often, but perhaps they are just as camera hungry as she is, though I doubt it. She consistently spews some of the most hateful words that I have ever heard in her so-called speeches and tirades, and does not see that she is the cause of most of the media attacks against her. She obviously is not very bright, judging from her constant inability to speak coherently for more than five seconds, and she is totally blinded by ambition. It is ludicrous to in anyway think of this woman as a real leader of anything. Yet some of the citizens of this country continue to see her that way. Personally, she reminds me more of a nag who just won't shut up, than anything.

Paul from Kissimmee   July 7th, 2009 8:24 am ET

She should sue these people that brought foward these ethics complaints. I mean, she had to waste time and money about wearing a jacket. I know the liberals enjoyed it, but any tue American that loves America should be upset about this. Ted Kennedy killed a girl, but since he's liberal, you'll just keep voting him in until his brain tumor finally takes him.

Duck Fallas   July 7th, 2009 8:24 am ET

"Our opponent ... is someone who sees America, it seems, as being so imperfect, imperfect enough, that he's palling around with terrorists who would target their own country."

Game on, sister.

Palin – Bachmann 2012

Elliott   July 7th, 2009 8:23 am ET

Um, no Sarah...you're a quitter. You see, when you have a job to do, but leave your job 16 months before it's over, that's called quitting.

The people who voted for you in Alaska have been let down, because things got to be too hard. Sorry to say it, but that's life. If you were a fighter, then you would have stayed in the ring for the entire 12 rounds.

Since you say you're a fighter, I would have to agree with you in a way. When you were tapped for the VP nomination, you seemed like a fighter who didn't prepare for your scheduled fight until a week before it took place, and you got clobbered.

The people of Alaska deserve better and so do the people in the lower 48. You won't spin this on me, Sarah, you're a quitter. PERIOD.

Michelle in AL   July 7th, 2009 8:21 am ET

Quote: Friday was "deliberately chosen" for the announcement because of its proximity to the July Fourth holiday, Van Flein said: "She declared her independence from politics as usual."

Really? I think she just declared herself an idiot. How much longer is she going to drape herself in the flag and declare herself perfect?

Marty, FL   July 7th, 2009 8:21 am ET

Leaving the constitutional duties as Alaska's governor = Quitter

Sorry, but no amount of spin can erase the fact for many Americans. Palin has lost credibility.

Tim   July 7th, 2009 8:21 am ET

I'm not a quitter, I'm just talking my ball and going home. When the going gets tough, Sarah Palin Quits!!!!

Ms. M   July 7th, 2009 8:20 am ET

Could CNN and all of the other news media allow this woman to do what she plan to do; resign, quit, leave the public eyes. She is not the type of person that should lead anything let alone this country. Please let her go into hiding in Alaska forever!!!

Kevin   July 7th, 2009 8:20 am ET

If the pressure was too great as Governor of Alaska, does she think it would be less as the president of the United States.

I'm just happy that the GOP pundits have finally started recognizing that this lady would not be a good pick to run against the democrats in 2012. The fact that any conservative has seriously considered Palin for any office makes me ashamed of being a republican.

Biased   July 7th, 2009 8:19 am ET

It is a shame that the media will always take the easy road and be critical of her rather than also look at the treatment she has been given since her name hit the National stage just a year ago.An MSNBC commentator got a several week suspension and short of firing for comments about Chelsea, while Letterman gets applauded by dems and excused by the media for jokes about the 14 yr. old Palin daughter. A liberal blogger photoshops a radio host face on a pic of the Palins' youngest son and it is lauded as funny yet if we ever saw a photoshop of someone on the faces of either Obama daughter there would be no end to the cries of racist behavior. I wonder if Sanford had resigned if he would be lauded as doing it for the good of his state, but yet Palin under constant ethics attacks and costing the people of Alaska money, gets classed a quitter. I have never in my senior lifetime seen such a double standard of how people are held to accoountability as I have seen with this woman. It has been a shameful display indeed.

Those Ears Are Yummy   July 7th, 2009 8:19 am ET

No Sarah ... you are a dirty fighter. Nobody has to make this up .... the world saw this in the way you conducted yourself during the campaign. No matter how outrageous or mean spirited the diatribe, you didn't hesitate to hurl it.

We've all seen dirty fighters quit before.... "ear biting" Mike Tyson is but one example. History is just repeating itself with you.

YOU ARE A QUITTER and Americans can never trust you with executive office. You might get PMS at a critical time.

JJ -ATLANTA/ TORONTO   July 7th, 2009 8:17 am ET

Yes you are a quitter!!!-- All successfull politicians have readThe Prince " by Nicolo Machaivelli. Read it so you could learn that the "prince must be feared not loved" ...
Fighters stay and fight..Quitters complain and resign...Now Hilary Clinton she is fighter.....
What are 15 ethic complains in a life of a potician...You wanna to be loved ? sing a song or show more skin...Men will love you ..at least ...

Independent from PA   July 7th, 2009 8:15 am ET

Sorry, but she IS a quitter! This is definitely the easier way out.

Monica   July 7th, 2009 8:15 am ET

Go away!!!!!!!!!

Lois   July 7th, 2009 8:14 am ET

Sarah, when one quits a job midstream, they are a quitter. A comedian on TV has this much power? A blogger? Stop playing the victim. Worse things have been said about other politicians and their families. Poison darts aren't too much fun are they? When you shoot those darts off, it is ok, but for you to get them, it is horrible? Spend time raising your family. Stop crying, please. It is embarrassing for other women.

sara   July 7th, 2009 8:14 am ET

What else would you call it! . She's always attempting to "play" the victim.................... I'm watching for Sarah Palin to use the FOX CHANNEL to promote Hate, Racism, Division, Guns, Extremicism, Self righteousness and Violence. Why in the world would anybody care .... she will never be president or hold any high office...... idiots can only advocate hate and FOX CHANNEL will be her perfect Platform to do it. Some of us Americans are Not Sleep on this Weirdo from Alaska, where no diversity lives, her RALLIES and the projection of who she is. Wake up.

howie   July 7th, 2009 8:13 am ET

Way to go Palin, do what is right for you. All the democrats are going to run scared. Just watch at all the liberals who are going to start neative comments. You have many, many americans behind you.

SRB   July 7th, 2009 8:13 am ET

If it smells like a rat, look like a rat then it is a rat. And if she quit 16 months before her term was up she quit, plain and simple. People she was elected by the residents of her state to perform a task, the highest task of each state and she got up and quit. You can say what you want but if anyone else had done what she had done they would be labled the same. "Quitter". How would she handle the media if she desided to run for the highest and not the second highest offine ?? I think this is best for her and our party that we now know she can't handle the limelite.

Respect   July 7th, 2009 8:12 am ET

This woman is cucko for cocoa puffs!

Nick   July 7th, 2009 8:11 am ET

This woman is a quitter, democrats will use this to destroy her in 2012 if she runs. The woman is a joke. If the GOP really wants to take back the white house, they need to get someone smarter.

Jeff   July 7th, 2009 8:10 am ET

If Palin got elected president, would she quit mid way through her term? Well, I don't think, and sincerely hope, we will never have to worry about that scenario.

Splat!~   July 7th, 2009 8:10 am ET

Thank You Mr. Letterman!~

That was too easy!~

Hey Mitt, Mormons aren't real Christians, you gonna quit too?!~

terry   July 7th, 2009 8:09 am ET

Palin has proved she has neither the stomach, brains or backbone for big league politics...if she thought the 2008 campaign and fallout was rough, let her run from president...every skeleton, misdemeanor, off handed remark she ever uttered will be hunted down and put on display.. playng in this arena is not for the faint of heart, nor is it for want-to-be's..She has bailed on the Alaskan people, plain and simple. It begs the question, would she do the same to the rest of us, if she were elected?

Jon Schmidt   July 7th, 2009 8:09 am ET

Mrs. Palin could use a dictionary. She is, by very definition, a quitter.

Quitter:
1. One who quits.

Quit:
1. to stop, cease, or discontinue: She quit what she was doing to help me paint the house.

2. to depart from; leave (a place or person): They quit the city for the seashore every summer.

3. to give up or resign; let go; relinquish: He quit his claim to the throne. She quit her job.

Dutch/Bad Newz, VA   July 7th, 2009 8:09 am ET

Who cares what she considers herself. She's not quealified for national office.

Mike   July 7th, 2009 8:09 am ET

God help the GOP if this dope runs for president. We need fresh blood and a true leader not a token to pander to special interest groups. If this country does not start picking the best and brightest based on their merits alone we as a country are doomed.

xavier   July 7th, 2009 8:09 am ET

Quitter = To give up. Yep, it sure sounds like Palin to me.

Kevin   July 7th, 2009 8:08 am ET

You're right, Sarah – you're not a quitter. You are just a self-indulgent celebrity wannabe with about as much substance as a bowl of air. Go away. Please.

Sean in DC   July 7th, 2009 8:08 am ET

Uh, no... you're a quitter.

Savage   July 7th, 2009 8:07 am ET

Dear Sarah,

You just QUIT the job your constituents elected you to do.

Hence, you ARE a quitter.

Not that I would ever expect you to understand something so complex.

Sincerely,

One of the millions completely astounded that you were ever even considered for Vice President of the United States

bobbie tray   July 7th, 2009 8:06 am ET

I don't get the rationale "I am a fighter so that is why I am resigning." Has logic gone out the window in this womans mind? Does she really think about what she says before she says it?

Bubba   July 7th, 2009 8:06 am ET

Um, didn't she just quit? Well then, she's a quitter. Didn't she just wade? Then she's a wader. You are what you do, Sarah baby. Now please quit bothering us. You're a botherer, too.

Fred the Moderate   July 7th, 2009 8:05 am ET

You quit because the pressure was to much but your not a quitter?

Your a fighter but you ran away from the fight?

Your not a quitter or a fighter, but a fighter that quits?

You are as confused as ever!

I will miss the "Sad and Sinking Sarah", because you no longer have any relevence!

Anny   July 7th, 2009 8:05 am ET

Your a quiter no matter how you try to explain it Palin..........and all your excuses smell like Dead Fish...........your little conservative GOP group may want you as President but the rest of the millions of Americans DON:T.......you might get a spot on FOX but if you can't talk coherient enough then you will lose the audience the only thing I can see is that you will make a good FEMALE RUSH LIMBAUGH but then you will have to fight him and the other radio talk show hosts for air time........so I don't see a future for you anywhere but home in Alaska. So stay home........you have stirred up a hornets nest with the main stream media you have blamed them for everything under the sun and they ain't going to let up on you now.........and they shouldn't........go get her CMNN, ABC, CBS, and MSNBC

Sharon Kitchen   July 7th, 2009 8:04 am ET

she did quit. she should take care of her family and herself.
There will be plenty of time to see what she realy is up to.

George   July 7th, 2009 8:03 am ET

She just did quit. Whatever she's smoking I wish she's share some.
She just walked away from Alaska. Let's say she became president.
Would she walk away from America also? My guess is you betcha!!!

Uncle Harry   July 7th, 2009 8:02 am ET

Well, whaddya expect. This is the lady that came to fame delivering a great speech off a teleprompter about how her opponent could only read great speeches off a teleprompter ... and then showing she couldn't put two sentences together without one. Who threw around horsepucky about "palling around with terrorists" and then complained about how those nasty media were being so mean to her. Pretty much the queen of "dish it out but can't take it".

This was Ms. "Gee, that sounds socialist to me" that grabbed even more money from the private oil companies to dish out to anyone and everyone in the state whether they'd done anything for it or not. Hugo Chavez must have been cheering from the sidelines. The gal who dropped out of five colleges without getting a degree.

If she says it's sunny out, go and grab your umbrella, and if she says she's not a quitter, count on it. She's a quitter.

NAVY JACK   July 7th, 2009 8:02 am ET

Obama, McCain, Sebellius, Napolitano, HR Clinton, Biden did not receive this type of criticism for abandoning their post to pursue another while still collecting a paycheck; or for abandoning an elected office for an appointment.
Arlen Specter received less media scrutiny for his blatant self interest party defection than Palin's children endured since last fall. Where is the critique and exposure of the families of Edwards, Spitzer, Sanford and Ensign, to name a few?

The question remains: what is the lowest common denominator in the ORIGIN of the "ethics compllaints"? Is Palin the target because of her charges against Obama in the last election; or because she represents the strongest perceived threat to the Dems?

John Edwards, Mark Sanford, Elliot Spitzer

AJP   July 7th, 2009 8:02 am ET

If she doesn't think she is viewed as a quitter, she must be looking at the world through rose colored glasses.

If I couldn't take the heat in my job I would have quite years ago.

I don't believe Sarah knows what she wants. The basic problem she has, is that she was thrown into the national spotlight to fast and was unable to cope with the responsibility one has in such a position.

Debbie   July 7th, 2009 8:02 am ET

If she couldn't handle the "pressure" of working for a small population state for 2-1/2 yrs straight, how would she ever handle the pressure of running the greatest country for 4 or 8 yrs straight?

Joe E.   July 7th, 2009 8:00 am ET

Palin not a quitter? I really wish she was.

Ms. Palin needs to understand that she was only a tool of the GOP last election. When that tool failed to work, her value to the GOP was over.

She needs to fade into the obscurity she so richly deserves.

I wish the Palins the best of luck in their private lives. But she needs to stay out of politics.

She quit, but she's not a quitter. Yeah, and white is really black and down is the new up.

Steve F   July 7th, 2009 7:58 am ET

So leaving your job a year and a half early when millions of people were counting on you (hence why they VOTED for you) isn't quitting? I want to know where she went to school where they teach this stuff...

Mary Beth   July 7th, 2009 7:57 am ET

Sarah, go away. Far away. And shut up. Please.

Duncan   July 7th, 2009 7:53 am ET

Yep, she resigned because of 'pressure' of the job even though the complaints were without merit. She makes it should like she was the one dealing with the complaints and not the mass of staff.

She also needed a break after being on duty for two and a half years.. oh my.. What about all those trips, vacations etc.. I wish I had half the vacations she has had.

Seriously, I don't want someone like Palin in any office when she can't take the media pressure which she herself has caused.

Mike   July 7th, 2009 7:52 am ET

"I am not a quitter. I am a fighter," Palin told CNN. Just because you say it, Sarah, doesn't make it so.

You quit. That makes you a quitter.

Now please go away.

mamasboy   July 7th, 2009 7:51 am ET

I think she's quiting because she sad she would not take the stimulus money for her state now she seen her mistake. In away she is doing the best thing for her and the state she keeps her word and the state gets the money..

Matthew Gallant   July 7th, 2009 7:51 am ET

No, she's not a quitter. She's a shirker! Learn the difference, media!

R in Maine   July 7th, 2009 7:50 am ET

Not a quitter? You just quit and have had your lawyer threaten to sue anyone who upsets your perverted view of the world. Just let it go and stop insulting the serious candidates. You are not qualified to do anything but quit.

Seriously?   July 7th, 2009 7:49 am ET

Hey Sarah, you can't even make sense with only an eight word sentence. "I'm not a quitter, I'm a fighter." Let's break that down. A quitter quits. A fighter stays and fights. Which did you do? It is clear that your fruit basket carries only rotting berries. For the good of your party, stay the heck out of politics.

LIZ   July 7th, 2009 7:49 am ET

She and her family were attacked more by the mainstream media than any other Political (Hillary came in a close 2nd) person in recent history - She must have been doing something RIGHT!!! Maybe, she'll be the catalyst for a new Independent party that truly believes in the values of America and her people.

Lois   July 7th, 2009 7:48 am ET

Palin stepped down because she wants to run for Senator in 2010 and then President in 2012. She's delusional!!! Could we all just ignore her and stop putting her in the news-she wants to be in the news-free publicity!!! Have Republicans lost their minds?????

Ed Tallahassee FL   July 7th, 2009 7:47 am ET

resign = quiting

Simba   July 7th, 2009 7:47 am ET

Palin has been quite brazen and erratic. Despite her undoubted magnetism, her judgment and temparament leave a lot to be desired.

OpinionsMatter   July 7th, 2009 7:46 am ET

Palin's lawyer: "The governor needed a break after being "on duty now for two and a half years solid," he said." Ooh ... a whole two and a half years! And people honestly anticipate that she can be president? Laughable.

Sarah   July 7th, 2009 7:46 am ET

I don't care how many people are criticizing you or talking about your family; when you are in a public position–be it a famous actor, the governor of Alaska, or the President of the United States, people are going to talk about you and you need to get over it! It comes with the territory. Don't sign up for the job unless you are willing to handle the pressure, which Sarah Palin obviously isn't. What kind of leader abandons her constituents (remember that high Alaska approval rating?) just because she is being criticized? Well, she should have thought long and hard about that before ever deciding to run for public office. And now some speculate she is debating a 2010 campaign for the Presidency? Well, if she thinks the criticism was bad running our most remote state, imagine what it would be like for her if she were to run for the most powerful position in the entire world. I'm so tired of hearing these talking heads on TV explaining what she needs to do to get ready for 2010. Are you kidding me? Are we forgetting what she sounded like just last year? If Sarah Palin can't even lead her own state, she should just forget about leading our nation.

OpinionsMatter   July 7th, 2009 7:45 am ET

Black is white, up is down, east is west.

Despite what she says, Palin is a quitter.

Sandra Day   July 7th, 2009 7:44 am ET

Okay, Republicans. You created her; now you are stuck with her. She could be cutting a knife through your party for years. She will be off on her own (maybe for decades) declaring "her independence from politics as usual." I think the Republicans have a lot more to fear from her than the Democrats.

Boots Tibbs   July 7th, 2009 7:43 am ET

She is every comedian's dream.

TK   July 7th, 2009 7:43 am ET

Am I the only one who would like to have politicians representing us that are smarter than me? She's embarrassingly stupid; do people just not see this? The whole notion of wanting a representative that you' have a beer with or you feel is "one of you" is a REALLY bad idea.

paul   July 7th, 2009 7:42 am ET

LEAVE IT ALONE, MediaFOLK and the rest of us. Allow this person the freedom to opt out!! This is not NEWS when the world has so much going on in it! What is happening in Iran? or in XianJing China? Or in Israel/Palestine? What about the economy and what Obama and administration are doing?

Its bad enough that the only news we've been hearing over the last few days has been about Michael Jackson and Sarah Palin must we continually dig with a broken spoon for dirt on Palin's resignation? PLEASE. This is why I now only watch Larry King on CNN anymore (except this week ... MJ coverage).

I don't know how CNN can continually say "MOST NEWS ALL THE TIME" when its "SORT OF NEWS MOST OF THE TIME"

J   July 7th, 2009 7:41 am ET

Well when you quit and abandon your state in a time of crisis that is called "Quitting" Doncha know.

Even Fox News said it FOX NEWS!! She is inarticulate and undereducated, which is just a nice way of saying she is dumb as a post and completely unqualified to lead a matching band so forget about a state.

T'SAH from Virginia   July 7th, 2009 7:39 am ET

SHE'S A "QUITTER" – What a LAME excuse. Could you imagine a parent allowing their child to QUIT school because they want to FIGHT their way through seeking an acting career OR any other career for that matter!!! PAAAA – LEEEEZZZZZ!!!!

The best FIGHT for her was remaining a governor – she let down EVERYONE who voted for her in ALASKA!!! What would have happened if she did become VICE PRESIDENT?????

This is her way of getting some kind of REALITY SHOW or something because she got a little taste of the BOTTOM 48 STATES and got HOOKED!!! Mark my words – she has some sort entertainment in the making!!!

The black spider   July 7th, 2009 7:39 am ET

It's so troubling for me to see this great nation giving consideration for this woman Sarah Palin. The GOP lost me completely by puting this woman on the front line to the point that she was one stepp forward to become this great nation VP or even president considering the age and medical record of their candidate.
1. This woman is unarticulate, uneducated and for god sake who voted for her to become mayor and governor?
2. It was troubling for me to see her draguing her whole family from stage to stage during the campaign even the young baby with special needs.
3. Her husband (another uneducated) has no shame at all.

sparky   July 7th, 2009 7:38 am ET

She may be a quitter or she may be a fighter. The bottom line is she is a FLAKE!

A Real Republican   July 7th, 2009 7:35 am ET

Palin says she is not a quitter... because she's an idiot. She's an embarrassment to the Republican Party and to the Conservative movement. Good riddance!

marg from ND   July 7th, 2009 7:33 am ET

Yes you are! Leaving a job because the heat got too hot, is quitting.

After that babbling, disjointed "speech", I hope everyone will finally realize she is not capable of running our country. She was not even capable of running a state.

Obama   July 7th, 2009 7:33 am ET

haha.. okay tell that IF u run for Pres why you quit... how many reasons so far? So IF she runs for Pres or Vice PRes and then the press is all over her family and letterman is still making jokes like he always has and always will.. is she gonna run off and quit her job? Many Pres and Vice Pres have been while in office taken to court, had some sort of scandal they had to settle and testify about, and it takes too much money away from the taxpayers to fight.. So she gonna quit?

But yet she can use taxpayers money to file charges against the media for assumptions on why she is quitting?

Something aint right about her! I think she is an Alien from another Planet because as much as I TRY to understand her and her actions. I CANT!!!!!

Brendan H., San Antonio, TX   July 7th, 2009 7:32 am ET

Sarah Palin wants to be POTUS, but yet she and her husband belonged to a seccessionist group that wanted to break away from the USA. Do you want a person like that in public office, let alone running the country?

That question needs to be asked and answered!!!

Perhaps Sarah can use her unaccredited journalism degree/perceived skills to work responding to that?

Don't like these questions? Well, just wait until the old, angry white men of the GOP start in on her..........just wait!!!

RL.   July 7th, 2009 7:31 am ET

Yeah, she resigned!! Now I wish she would just go away into the Alaskan sunset. For those who think she could be the next president, we might as well just have President Obama's inauguration early, because there is no way she could beat him, and if the Republicans think she can, they are delusional. Rock star? Remember which presidental candidate was referred to that first, there is no way she could bring in the crowds that the President did.

Ricky   July 7th, 2009 7:30 am ET

I just love her! Hope to see more of her and millions of us support this great woman. Go Sarah!

cfrench   July 7th, 2009 7:30 am ET

Two and a half years through her term as Governor of a state of 600,000 people and she resigns because of the pressure. Gee, what does she think the Presidency of the United States would be like, a cake walk? If Palin does indeed make the foolish choice of running for President she'll be gutted early in the primaries.

Nice savior you got there, republicans.

Dave   July 7th, 2009 7:30 am ET

So she's not a quitter. That's funny – she just quit her job as Governor with 18 months to go in her first term. Sounds a lot like a quitter to me. Seriously, if this twit with her delusions of grandeur thinks she's going to mount a serious run at the Presidency, she needs a reality check and soon. It means nothing that she plays well with the grassroots knuckle-draggers of the GOP. She has a better chance at being elected dog-catcher than President.

Garofulaar   July 7th, 2009 7:29 am ET

Palin's actions speak louder than her incoherent words.

Chasm   July 7th, 2009 7:27 am ET

Let's see....hmmm, stepping down from office 18 months before your elected term expires??? Sounds like "quitting" to me. Par for the course for this woman. Can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen. THIS is what all her fanatics believe is Presidential material?? Your proverbial "breath of fresh air" has become nothing more than a wind bag. Fighters don't quit. Ever. Fighters see it through to the, sometimes, bitter end. This woman gave up.

Gracie, MD   July 7th, 2009 7:26 am ET

OKAY -

Maybe Sarah Palin is just delusional. But the FACT remains that she quit when she had a CONTRACT with the residents and her devoted CONSTITUENTS of Alaska clearly defines her as a QUITTER. She bailed out on Alaska, you can't have it BOTH ways Governor. A "fighter" NEVER, EVER quits.

You either had the balls to FINISH your term or YOU'RE A QUITTER.

Making excuses AFTER THE FACT is merely laughable. YOU should have thought about your decision just a wee bit LONGER if you didn't want to be considered a QUITTER nationally. NOW everyone knows that you are nothing but a quitter.

B-man   July 7th, 2009 7:24 am ET

This woman is a joke AND a quitter. She didn't serve her constituents very well by resigning and it shows what lack of character she has.

mells   July 7th, 2009 7:22 am ET

Since when does quitting equal fighting. You quit. We all saw you quit. "I'm taking my ball and going home and not going to play with you anymore". That is quitting of the third grader variety.

Sylvia   July 7th, 2009 7:22 am ET

Then how do you explain quitting?

Susan in NC   July 7th, 2009 7:22 am ET

"I am not a quitter. I'm a whiner. The media still can't get it right."

WIll 18E   July 7th, 2009 7:20 am ET

She quites, does not serve he full term which the voteres expected of her. And now says she's not a quitter?Palin now sounds just like Bill Clinton. I quess it's her private definition of quiting.

Alex   July 7th, 2009 7:19 am ET

audacity of a dope   July 7th, 2009 7:19 am ET

floridabob   July 7th, 2009 7:19 am ET

Perhaps with the stepping down she will become a part of the history the Palintologists will study.

Seattle Rocks   July 7th, 2009 7:19 am ET

Now she's blaming David Letterman for quitting! Sarah Palin is a loser and has shown her true colors – she is a QUITTER, not a fighter. And if anyone can decipher a sentence this idiot says please fill the rest of us in!!

Bri   July 7th, 2009 7:17 am ET

The governor needed a break after being "on duty now for two and a half years solid," he said.

Two and a half years of heading one of the smallest populated states in the country. And 4 years of presidency will lead to what? A total breakdown? No thanks.

You can spin this all you want Sarah, but you QUIT.

very pathetic...would she be the type to quit the vice-presidency mid-term?

we are lucky that obama/biden won, Palin does not belong in politics. She'd make a good church usher though......

Mark   July 7th, 2009 7:13 am ET

The media's (cnn's) constant negativity I cant blame her although I have a feeling she is going to become a leader.

Dale   July 7th, 2009 7:10 am ET

For someone who hates the media as much as Sarah does, she sure does love talking to them.

She was on a fishing-trip and had no reason to give the "evil liberal media" any of her time; especially if they were such a large part of her reason for quitting (or, at least, how those supposedly close to her keep saying).

Why didn't she just turn them down? Footage of her from a distance enjoying her fishing with her family, while a reporter reluctantly states that she refused to do an interview would have sent a much stronger message that she (as Nixon put it) "won't be kicked around" any longer. This way it looks like all that matters to her is to be in the spotlight and made herself look like a liar and a fool. Once again.

Joe citizen abroad   July 7th, 2009 7:05 am ET

She quit because of a comedian? You've got to be kidding.

While Sarah Palin is playing "victim," the rest of us are dealing with the real world with real challenges that are there, every day, when we wake up. They don't go away. And they have precious little to do with Sarah Palin.

Is there no limit to this woman's ego? She is not the center of the universe. She is not part of our problems, or part of our solutions–by choice. She is media noise.

May her political career rest in peace.

Joel   July 7th, 2009 6:58 am ET

Looks like a quitter to me =)

Capt. Snarky   July 7th, 2009 6:56 am ET

So Sarah was raked over the coals regarding "family travel" at the states' expense, to the point that she was forced to repay the monies involved.

So, I read over on another news outlet about Michelle Obama and her daughters touring the Kremlin, while daddy toils with Medeved. Are they repaying us for the girls' sight-seeing tours?????

Well, I guess the Orwellian World of the Bush Administration has returned full force, now. IN addition to this not amking ANY sense at all, poor Sarah quit because of a joke from David Letterman...how sad...how very, very sad...PLUS she's "a victim"....awwwwwww

Quit covering this woman people and hopefully she will fade away and her 15 minutes will be gone forever. I think she picked this time because tall the media are on Michael Jackson and not her.

some guy in New Hampshire   July 7th, 2009 6:42 am ET

She quits her job but she's not a quitter. No, I don't hate women and no, I don't hate conservatives. But, given this person's history of melodrama, ham-fisted self-promotion, and egregious hypocrisy ("I fought to bring the Bridge to Nowhere to Alaska until it became a laughingstock and then I bravely rejected it") how is anyone to take Sarah Palin seriously?

Willy Brown   July 7th, 2009 6:42 am ET

The fact that she still pisses off you liberals is more the reason to vote for her. She rocks your little liberal pea brains.

KJL   July 7th, 2009 6:41 am ET

Unfortunately for Sarah Palin, good looks can only carry you so far in politics, at least with intelligent voters. She hated the taste of defeat she got as John McCain's running mate, and would rather quit than get voted out of office. It will be better for the entire country if she makes her millions selling books or religion.

Nora   July 7th, 2009 6:39 am ET

And she wants to run the country? She quit running Alaska. Can she really handle running 49 more states? The day she takes office in the White House is the day I move to Canada.

shinden58   July 7th, 2009 6:33 am ET

Quitter. Would she resign from the presidency if some cracks a joke about her disfunctional family? She has had her 15 minutes now lets relegate her to the dust bin of political history.

You quit.

That makes you a quitter. This is an unmitigated fact.

NATHAN WIMBERLY   July 7th, 2009 6:28 am ET

The GOP continues to throw her under the bus. Stick a fork in her. She is done. I will enjoy the fun watching her steal their money while she kills their chances to win again. Run Sarah run!

Sharon - NC   July 7th, 2009 6:27 am ET

Let us all not forget that she's quitting to take advantage of a big book and TV deal 'for country'. The ethics complaints must have been slowing down in Alaska, thus, no coverage or nothing to become the victim of, and no attention.

Isabelle   July 7th, 2009 6:24 am ET

Quite frankly, Palin's erratic behavior indicates she is unfit to serve the public in any capacity whatsoever. Her inability to communicate a clear, concise message, instead babbling in incoherent broken english, leaves little room for anything other than her inevitable political defeat . She is, as she has clearly shown, a quitter.

Marry   July 7th, 2009 6:24 am ET

Just for a change. This time there is ONE very positive thing to be said about Mrs. Palin! She is realizing that she is in over her head as Governor of Alaska and backed off. It would have been nice if she had continued and given us all peace of mind by announcing that she will never seek public office again!
But bad news followed immediately: “She did not rule out a run for the White House or any other political office.” She definitely is suffering from megalomania (among other conditions) if she thinks that she has what it takes for that job!
If she scares most thinking people? Of cause! She makes people like Ahmadinejad of Iran look like a thoughtful moderate by comparison.

Palin needs a giant "Q" on her forehead!   July 7th, 2009 6:22 am ET

Palin saying she's not a quitter does not make it so. Clearly she's asking people, "Which do you believe: me or your lying eyes?"

Palin is an arrogant, whining QUITTER....who strangely sees herself as worthy and capable of being president.

She can't hang in as a governor of a single state for a full 4 year term – supposedly because media and critics scrutinize her too much. Why should anyone believe she could hang in as president of an entire nation of 50 states for a full term when the glare of scrutiny is many times stronger?

Neilz   July 7th, 2009 6:14 am ET

"I'm not a quitter, I'm a fighter. But I quit. I'm not going to fight anymore. I'm going to pass the ball, walk off the court and scream from the sidelines. It pays better. Look at Coulter and Malkin. I can be just as ignorant, rude and offensive as those ladies. Even better. Besides, Olberman needs me. His show's gone stale since he stopped covering O'Reilly, the poor dear."

Jasmine in Germany   July 7th, 2009 6:11 am ET

Palin's weak resignation speech showed a lack of credibility. She continues with her "I can pull the wool over their eyes, I can fool some of the people some of the time" modus operandi, instead of making a concrete, realistic, intelligent speech.

It's likely that some investigations would have led to an embarrassing resignation and she's saving herself from the fall from grace humiliation. Palin is likely to go on the road to promote her "books" and may be negotiating for a TV talk show (while she's still somewhat popular). There's lots of money to be made here and that is certainly more attractive than falling from grace and not having gainful future employment.

John   July 7th, 2009 6:08 am ET

Sarah you quit. You are therefore a quitter no matter how you wish to spin it. You were not worthy of higher elected office before you ran away and now you are even less worthy. Good Riddance to you!

Life long Democrat   July 7th, 2009 6:06 am ET

I wish the best to Sarah Palin and her family. I hope she is able to move beyond this whole ordeal and be successful in whatever path she chooses. God bless you, Sarah.

Daniel Plainview   July 7th, 2009 6:02 am ET

My dictionary defines quitter as "one that quits", it is also a synonym for abdicator: "one who formally relinquishes an office or responsibility".

So Mrs. Palin, while in your mind you see yourself as "not a quitter", the rest of the world definitely does.

Sarah "The Barracuda" Palin got as far as she did on a combination of good looks, gender politics and raw ambition. But from now on you'll always be known as Sarah " The Quitter" Palin.

Pragmatic   July 7th, 2009 5:52 am ET

She resigned because of the tremendous pressure. Perhaps she prefers "cut & run" to quitter? When the going gets tough – the tough get going .... Palin? ... she went fishing

She could have stayed and used her executive leadership skills to make Alaska great ... but she went fishing ..

Sorry, Sarah – just saying that you aren't a quitter doesn't make it so....

Tom in Delaware   July 7th, 2009 5:48 am ET

"As Election Day neared with McCain trailing in the polls, 'campaign aides' began sniping at Palin as a "diva" who ignored top advisers and lacked "fundamental understanding" of key issues in the race."

It never ceases to amaze me that in the 8 months since the election, these oft-quoted 'campaign aides' never seem to have actual names.

As for her 'quitting'...Palin 'quit' the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission after exposing the ethics violations of her own party, she then went on to become Alaska's first female and youngest governor...but that would be something called 'context and contrast'...two key elements that must be removed in order to pursue 'The Politics of Personsal Destruction'.

mark ferbet, kansas city, mo.   July 7th, 2009 5:40 am ET

apparently having quit her job before it was done, having created a mess in Alaska, and walking away is not quitting in the eyes of this politician... she needs to read a dictionary... you can sugarcoat it all you like lady, but you quit your job when the going got tough.... so, therefore, YOU are a quitter.

The first common-sense rule of politics - and life - is when you've dug yourself into a hole, stop digging.

The only thing more delusional than Palin's speech last Friday and the spindoctor followups from her supporters, is their belief that anyone outside their group will accept it at face value - and their outrage when it isn't.

Stupd jokes and hurtful remarks will be made on a daily basis should you (God forbid) ever attain that office, and people won't have a lot of patience for listening to the leader of the free world spend an entire week whining about a joke, either.

yap yap yap

how about you show us that you can quit talking?

If you are not a quitter, than why did you just show us you quitting?

A fine example you have set for women all accross the heart land

zago   July 7th, 2009 4:11 am ET

She resigns office to go fishing. What a disaster for the GOP to have such leaders. One would expect her to stay in office getting things done to improve lives. Now she's quitting to go on family fishing trip. Are you joking me? That's the GOP

S M R   July 7th, 2009 3:57 am ET

I don't hear Rush backing you up on your decision. You know why? Even Rush isn't that dumb.

tba   July 7th, 2009 3:55 am ET

Palin is a quitter, look at her she couldn't take the jokes nor could she handle the politics. Thats why she quit letting those Alaskan voters down. She basically gave them a slap in the face. If she couldn't handle being a govener for a state how does she expect to be President? As president you take more critical decision and more critics attack you. She needs to go think about this long and hard.

Bill from CA   July 7th, 2009 3:55 am ET

Last I looked, 'resigning' was another word for 'quitting.' Palin showed that she couldn't even handle the responsibilities of governing a state of less than 700,000. What makes her think anyone will think she could handle the responsibilities of governing a country of over 300 million? She walked out on the state of Alaska and by doing so, abandoned the oath she took to serve her constituents. Until we hear a legitimate explanation, her resignation/quitting will be one of disgrace.

Big D   July 7th, 2009 3:53 am ET

Sarah just go away. How are we to expect you to assume the pressures of a Presidential candidate, when you can't handle a late night talk show host? I found myself looking in the fridge for dressing to put on that word salad "I quit" speech. You seem like your harmless, really... as long as you stay out of politics. Use that journalism degree you got from 4 different colleges, or just go fishing with Todd and the kids.

Jimmy, Alaska   July 7th, 2009 3:38 am ET

For the lower 48ers who doesn't know anything about Palin. She kept her promises for a year and a half till election came, unlike Obama in 10 days. At least she read a bill before signing it, unlike Obama. At least she knows where the taxpayers money is going, unlike Obama. At least she had a half billion dollar surplus in 6 months, while Obama quadrupled the deficit in six months. At least she didn't pal around with a former terrorist, unlike Obama.

Sandra   July 7th, 2009 3:38 am ET

Would she have stepped down if she was elected VP last November? The mnedia pressure she feels now pales to what she would have received had the McCain ticket actually won the election.

beermo   July 7th, 2009 3:35 am ET

You're a quitter, Sarah, and nobody likes a quitter! Ramas is on to something – you're just crazy and delusional. How does quitting prove you're not a quitter? I think you just shot yourself in the head with that meandering speech. Just go away, please!

Quit, baby, quit!

Frederik   July 7th, 2009 3:25 am ET

Resigning mid term with no apparent valid reason? Deserting the people who elected her when the going gets tough? Yeah... she's definately a quitter. A quitter who only looks out for number 1.

Kara in AK   July 7th, 2009 3:23 am ET

I, for one, think she's a quitter. Bye Failin' Palin!

Mike,Texas   July 7th, 2009 3:23 am ET

Why is she not a quitter, she never explained that one.The new beverly hillbillies of politics.I would vote for some of my friends and they are smarter than her.She could cost america a fortune in learning palin english.I dont understand her,she speaks in code.

Dennis   July 7th, 2009 3:20 am ET

This woman is annoying and ignorant. Why does the media have to continue to give her coverage? She's done. Let's wash our hands of her and move onto more productive political figures.

Please!!!!

Limbaugh is a liberal   July 7th, 2009 3:15 am ET

'Palin thought she would stop being a "lightning rod" once she returned to Alaska, but "it never really did simmer down,"'
Did I miss something? Through all these months did she actually return to Alaska? No! She neglected her state, instead continually traveling the country, making appearances at fundraisers, and campaigning for 2012. She has only herself to blame for the attention focused on her!

Peter E   July 7th, 2009 3:12 am ET

For somebody who supposedly hates media attention, she sure is eager to give even more interviews just so the cameras stay on her.

Mark,B'ham,Al.   July 7th, 2009 3:04 am ET

I would have more respect for her if she finished her term then ran for President. She is more like America than the Liberal Elitist that was just recently elected, that was her appeal. She was not brought up in the corrupt Chicago Polical Machine. Sorry but I will have to consider someone else for the Primary for 2012, but I will vote for her in the election if she wins the primary before I would vote for Obama who is a liberal democrat who wants to spend and tax us into debt for his European Style Socialism/ Wefare State.

S M R   July 7th, 2009 3:04 am ET

If you are "not a quitter", why are you quitting?

Mark of Saint Louis   July 7th, 2009 3:02 am ET

Of course the Libs ripped Palin and wasted Alaskan money and resources on trumped up ethics charges against the Governor which have been proven all to be without merit. That's what they do. What more could we expect from the leftists?

S M R   July 7th, 2009 3:01 am ET

This women is insane. GOD PLEASE HELP US.

Meg   July 7th, 2009 3:01 am ET

She's not a quitter, and she quit her job just to prove she's not a quitter. Oooookaaaay. Your 15 min are up now miss palin, please prove your even less a quitter by quitting to talk to the media for at least a week.

ttofast70@comcast.net   July 7th, 2009 2:59 am ET

You betcha! "You are not a crook." Ha ha.

Emi   July 7th, 2009 2:57 am ET

Who cares!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Michael Fallai   July 7th, 2009 2:44 am ET

You quit your job, Sarah, and not because you got elected to a better job. That makes you a quitter.

How can this woman wonder why she is so thoroughly mocked? She's a walking, talking embarrassment to Alaska, the GOP, Christians, and women in general.

AlwaysThinking   July 7th, 2009 2:44 am ET

Quitter (noun): One who quits; one who gives up too easily. Syn – Defeatist.

'Nuff said.

AlwaysThinking   July 7th, 2009 2:43 am ET

Of course she says this – the woman lives and breathes the GOP playbook of do one thing, label it another, hope the poor saps don't figure it out.

Look, she's living in la-la land. When she took the oath of office to become governor of Alaska, I'm positive there wasn't a line about doing her duties until things got rough or inconvenient (or until she signed a book deal). She is not fulfilling the responsibilities she was elected for – she's quitting.

She can prattle on all she likes about how no one understands her and we're all out to get her. She's a quitter and a runner – and that's the plain truth.

J.V.Hodgson   July 7th, 2009 2:42 am ET

Of course she plans a run for president. She needs the book money, and speeches and TV earnings to fund it and not waste it on legal fees. And learning how not to say I can see Russia, and failed inteviews of the past.
Sorry to say there was not a member of that family that did not like the fame and attention of her GOP VP run gave her and them.
Problem is two fold
1) The media hate her for not ansering whether she plans another political run.
2) Worse still I do not think the GOP will nominate her again as she proved not to bea team GOP player with McCain, and has zero appeal to Democrats and most independents.
Regards,
Hodgson.

cm   July 7th, 2009 2:42 am ET

Then if she runs fro President and she wins... Please God don't do this to Us.... she will quit if things are to rough and she can not take the heat? To much for commitment.
"If you can stand the hit then get out the kitchen"

marcus   July 7th, 2009 2:42 am ET

omg... lol... let's try and be honest for a minute... palin is definitely a quitter.. and, who can blame her.. she'll make boatloads of money giving speeches to right-wing knuckleheads... do you think she actually cares about alaska ??? lol.. not a chance.. she found her cash cow, and it is her with the freaks on the right.. congratulations.. this woman has NO political ambitions now.. she'll get a tv show on FOX, ripping obama and the dems.. why on earth would she consider a run at the presidency ??? she can't handle that kind of pressure.. and, she sure couldn't win over the important "thinking" american vote..

Greg, San Francisco, CA   July 7th, 2009 2:42 am ET

"I am not a quitter. I am a fighter," No, actually you're pretty much a quitter, and a pathetic one at that.

End Of An Error   July 7th, 2009 2:37 am ET

Yep, just because Sarah Palin is quitting the job she was elected to do, she is definitely not a quitter. Quitting in mid term makes her a fighter – just like she claims.

How obvious can that be, people? Everyone knows we should characterize people by how they want to be characterized and not by their own actions, deeds, etc. It is so easy to misinterpret actions like quitting, cheating, cruising airport bathrooms, or any of the other things elected officials in this country like to do.

We should always ASK the politician how we should interpret their actions instead of basing judgments on the things they actually do. It's really very simple.

PUMA   July 7th, 2009 2:36 am ET

the media is such a fail

palin moving on to bigger things.

Jeff   July 7th, 2009 2:34 am ET

Palin resigning over the pressure of the office of governor of Alaska? Scary considering this woman almost became 2nd in command of the United States. She has quit everything she has ever done in her life because it was too much work for her. She is a joke and is not qualified to be President of the United States must less President of the P.T.O.

AcidEatingLiberal   July 7th, 2009 2:34 am ET

Besides when you had people chanting drill baby drill at your trailor trash campaign rallies i thought you were talking about what every high school boy in wasilla does to bristol on friday nights. Give Dave a break!

Kevin   July 7th, 2009 2:24 am ET

Yeah, Ok.....sure....

Marie in California   July 7th, 2009 2:24 am ET

Palin will be back. And I'll be there to support her in whataever she chooses to do.

Squigman   July 7th, 2009 2:15 am ET

I'm sorry, but the actions dont jive with the words. The next time I hear a republican state the followiing " A winner never quits, and a quitter never wins", I'm gonna throw up.

babe40   July 7th, 2009 2:14 am ET

she is a quitter

Lee Baxter   July 7th, 2009 2:12 am ET

GO AWAY! Narcissistic Personality Disorder must be an awful burden on someone. The worst part is not even realizing you have it. Now we can add "quitter" to her resume.

They're not laughing with you, honey, they're laughing at you.

Ernestine   July 7th, 2009 2:08 am ET

The article says: She resigned because of the tremendous pressure, time and financial burden of a litany of ethics complaints in the past several months, she said. The complaints were without merit and took away from the job she wanted to do for Alaskans, Palin said.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Will this lady stop making excuses. Complaints were because you weren't doing your job, you were off on a jet somewhere being in the spotlight, you can only blame yourself. So when did you have time to govern your state, I have no pitty for you,

AcidEatingLiberal   July 7th, 2009 2:08 am ET

Oh! And yes you are a quitter! Did you not just step down 18 months early from your job? They call that quitting. Whether you work at Taco Bell or as governor of a state, when you give notice you are essentially quitting and are therefore a quitter. But just as if you worked at Taco Bell Sarah nobody will miss you when you are gone and someone more qualified will take your place. The people at Taco Bell are much smarter than the people ofAlaska because they never gave her a job! Right wing nutjobs in Alaska! I swear!

Chester   July 7th, 2009 2:07 am ET

I guess Pit Bulls aren't as mean and tuff as we thought. She is have the diplomate, schollar, leader that Hillary is. Palin is not leader in any sense of the word.

Allan   July 7th, 2009 2:07 am ET

I am not a quitter, she said, as she quit.

Hello its me Sarah   July 7th, 2009 2:03 am ET

"I am not a quitter. I am a fighter," or "I am a fighter, but a quitter also. Enough said well the media please leave me alone, no but I need them it's all about me...me...me. I wish my brain would stop wondering and let get back to the real issue. I'm I a quitter???

John From CA   July 7th, 2009 1:57 am ET

So she claims to be a "fighter" and then blames "the tremendous pressure, time and financial burden of a litany of ethics complaints" for her resignation. Wouldn't a fighter continue to FIGHT those complaints? Stating a reason for quitting doesn't mean you're not a quitter.

She's So Predictable   July 7th, 2009 1:55 am ET

It doesn't matter what she says, she is a quitter. And just for the record, let's cut to the chase, she is leaving for one reason, and one reason only-MONEY. So all this talk of doing it for the state and yada, yada, yada means nothing. She is doing it for the money, money, money. As soon as she signed that book deal it was adios amigos, I'm off to the lower 48.

The same greedy, self involed women who threw John McCain under the bus when she went "mavericky" and said "What have I got to lose" will be riding high on the political talk show hog.

Wasilla hillbillies will now be free torun the country and lap up the gravy train. She's another Hillary, just without the education and the class.

Dawa sherpa   July 7th, 2009 1:55 am ET

i think that you made big mistake for 2012 and for GOP.
that's all i want to say for the Palin

B. Lewis in Austin   July 7th, 2009 1:50 am ET

Anyone remember that during the presidential campaign tht Palin accused Obama/Biden of waving a white flag in Iraq? Perhaps, she needs to borrow that flag now that she has given up?

In the world of politics, it doesn't take long for someone's words come back to bite them.

Papa   July 7th, 2009 1:49 am ET

Um. You're not a quiter..But you quit..That would make you a...

james   July 7th, 2009 1:48 am ET

Ahhhh, You QUIT your job HALF way through your term...yep your a quiter!

Michael   July 7th, 2009 1:48 am ET

Typical Republican – says one thing and does another. You already quit honey. You said yourself you couldn't handle the intense scrutiny so you quit your job.

You're a quitter!

MADinAZ   July 7th, 2009 1:37 am ET

Three little words that were all the rage some months back:

"cut and run"

John   July 7th, 2009 1:35 am ET

She quit, didn't she? Therefore, she's a quitter.
