(CNN) - Who wouldn't want a big name to headline a major fundraiser? And the Iowa Republican Party is going after one of the biggest draws right now, Sarah Palin.
As first reported in the Des Moines Register and confirmed by CNN, the state GOP is courting the Alaska governor to be the keynote speaker at their annual Ronald Reagan dinner this autumn. The event is the party's largest fundraiser of the year, and has become a popular stop for White House hopefuls.
Aides to Palin have not immediately responded to inquires from CNN regarding whether the outgoing governor will attend the dinner.
Palin shocked many across the country last week when she announced that she would not only not run for re-election next year, but that she would resign as governor later this month.
The stunning announcement sparked debate on whether Palin's decision would be a benefit or a detriment if she decided to make a bid for the 2012 GOP presidential nomination.
Iowa is a crucial state in the race to the White House. The state's caucuses kick off the presidential primary season.

I'm going to answer your question. The reason there is so much hate for Palin is because she is an embarrassment to the United States. She talks like a moron, constantly contradicts herself and loves to play the victim. Hell even most women are embarrassed of her, and yet the sheeple will say they are jealous. Jealous of what?
Americans hate quitters. Americans hate whiney victims. The only threat us "libs" have of her is that the international community may think that most Americans are like her.
Oh and by the way, the position of POTUS should never be held by a "normal" person. Does anyone on this site own a business and would hire a normal person as opposed to someone with intelligence just because the person is donw to earth?
Picture this scenario: Palin becomes president and two years into her term a war breaks out. She can't handle the pressure so she resigns because "this war is taking time away from her family".
But hey, you wanted a "normal" person running our country. And "normal" people can't handle all that pressure.
I predict that she will be out of the limelight by this time next year.

To Connie, if she is a normal woman why would any guy ever want to get married? I can't imagine waking up to hear that whiney, high pitched squeak of her hers everyday. I am a single guy and so very glad for it.
It won't be a long speech. She'll begin to address the crowd, but QUIT half way through. That is if she doesn't make the plane turn around and quit half way through the flight.
Washington Republican approach: Priviate speaking engagement, Sarah = big yes. Build her up and say you love her and her family. Public speaking engagement = no way. No way we want her showing up at a fundraiser, next thing you know, everyone is shouting Sarah Sarah, she smiles, next thing you know, someone is shouting kill the ____, she smiles, next thing you know, a fight breaks out, cameras are filming, etc. Meanwhile, behind the scenes in "commentary" writing, hint she is over for the Republican ticket. Why do some say that the liberals are afraid of or are threatened by Sarah Palin? I say let her come down. She's always good for a few laughs.

I for one don't hate or even dislike Palin. It's finally brought to attention the far left hate that is killing the Democrat party. She's a bright woman who is extremely accomplished. I'm amazed at how uninformed so many Democrats are about her accomplishments, yet they site proven lies about her as facts.
The ultra-liberals, who spread the lies about her should be held accountable for their vile tactics. They are not a part of my party and are the most hateful group of people I've ever witnessed next to the Nazi party.

That said I find it highly entertaining that Republicans think that by repeating over and over again that Democrats are afraid of Palin, will actually make that come true (here's a clue it didn't work for Bush).

Palin needs to realize that her 15 minutes of fame are up, and she needs to go away. She's an attention hound that will do anything to stay in the spotlight. If she goes up against Obama, Obama will win by a landslide. For all you Obama haters out there, he is doing great. Get over it. Palin thinks everyone is out to get her, and that they are "waging a campaign of hate" against her. This is nothing compared to Bush.

Palin could probably win in Iowa, but no way when the primaries move east. So her going to Iowa will prove nothing, although, I would really like to see her in the debates with other republicans who know what they are talking about. Everyone will not be behind her like they were when she was a VP candidate. Know she'll be debating with people who are after the same job. It should be quite something to watch, and laugh about.
