Economic stimulus reaches GOP critic's turf

CINCINNATI, Ohio (CNN) – In his first trip to Ohio since the election, Vice President Joe Biden jumped back into campaign mode, setting his sights on Republican critics of the $787 billion stimulus plan.

"All the talk about how we're gonna waste all this money, that's a dog that ain't barked yet," Biden said in Cincinnati, Ohio, on Thursday. "And it's not gonna bark on my watch."

It appeared to be a direct shot at House Minority Leader John Boehner of Ohio, who posted a Web video featuring a bloodhound on the hunt for stimulus jobs.

"This is Ellie Mae, and she hasn't found any stimulus jobs. And neither have we," Boehner says in the video.

But some stimulus money has found its way to Boehner's own district in Butler County, Ohio.

Boehner is either deaf, dumb, or mute by choice. We bet he is trying to play dumb, although one can argue he can possess other qualities as well at the same time. On the contrary, besides his castigatory and carping toungue, he does not seem to offer any constructive criticism for the economic doldrums we are in. The man is one irate individual, and we still haven't seen him smile. Long live his ire and dander!

We, as American citizens, have the privilege of voting to elect our Representatives. With this privilege comes responsibility! We voted to put the right person into office to get things done for us, but we have dropped the ball. Our responsibility does not end after an election. We need to stay on top of things to get what we want out of Washington.

Get in touch with your Democratic or Republican Congressional office and let them know that we want individual Health Care for everyone! Let’s get rid of the Insurance companies that play God and have the power to decide who they will let live or die by denying a claim. Let’s get rid of politicians who take money from lobbies that make our prescription drugs unaffordable.

We all know it is possible to obtain prescriptions drugs from overseas, and they are cheaper! Just as the US has the FDA to approve medications, these overseas prescriptions must be approved as well.

We have a long list of recalled medications, so we are not doing that great of a job! It’s all about the money. We need to get Health Care out of the hands of the all mighty dollar and give it back to the people!

We need to put an end to the politicians that are in it only for the money. Our Voice needs to be loud enough to say, “We have had enough abuse!”

We the people need to take back Washington! We must refuse to accept blindly when Washington tells us what it can do for us: we must tell Washington what we want and what Washington will do for us!

When will enough be enough? What needs to happen for us to take action? Voting is not the end of our responsibility: be involved! Write to your representatives, email, call, have town meetings.

The ball is in our hands – don’t drop it.

One person can make a difference, but together we can be a mighty force!

So Boehner's district is getting funding to keep sheriff's officers on the force according to the REPUBLICAN sheriff and infrastructure improvements are ready to begin but this idiot is saying nothing good has come of the stimulus package?

LOL... good one Bonehead. No wonder you have that stupid expression on your face. You have been found to be a liar and obstructionist once again.

Boehner uses ridiculous gimmicks and "No" constructive ideas, except the same old "tax cuts" for the wealthy that have proven NOT to work.

Too many in my former GOP have sadly become the eternal critics of No direction and completely irrational.

VP Biden is correct. The recovery initiatives will take some time to work, but we are fortunately seeing some cautiously optimistic signs already without even all of the provisions put into place, yet.

"This is Ellie Mae, and she hasn't found any stimulus jobs. And neither have we," Boehner says.

Boehner's district has received direct benefits from the stimulus package. The jobs of police officers and fire fighters have been saved as a direct result of the stimulus package.
Boehner complains that progress is slow...AT LEAST THERE IS PROGRESS!!!
If we had listened to Boehner and the rest of the G No P when we passed the stimulus, THERE WOULD BE NO PROGRESS.
The republicans did not offer a viable alternative and tried to obstruct the plan we did have. When we asked them for an alternative they said tax cuts and basic inaction.
If we had listened to the republicans we would be in much worse condition.
The stimulus is working and things are going to get better. Even the jobs market will improve.

Political affiliations aside, we have to stay the course on this issue. We have little choice. If there is no economic rebound by this time next year, then it's time to say that this did not work.

One thing that we that we can all agree on is that the nation is in trouble, we voted for a change in the philosophy because it was becoming very apparent that the old way of doing things was not working.

Same holds true with health care, our system is broken, it needs to be fixed.

Why is it so hard to say, "I was wrong" ? If you can't come up with a better plan, then SHUT UP & let President Obama carry out his. My late Grandma used to say, "Do something if it is wrong! Don't just sit there in the way." I have to repeat one of my favorite sayings, "Lead, follow or get out of the way!" And yes, come into my part of Ohio & you can already see how the stimulus plan is working!!!!

The more this administration hangs it's hat on their stimulus fiasco the easier 2010 and 2012 will be for the Republicans. On their way out the door, Obama and Biden will probably still be saying," ...but we needed just a few more months for this thing to kick in...".

    Laws for our representatives

I think the people of this great nation need to force some laws on the politicians.

First, a bill must be presented for a minimum time period, 2 weeks?, prior to it being voted on. If an amendment is made, 2 weeks from the amendment or change. And it can not be changed after it has been voted on, unless it comes back through for another vote.
That way maybe they will read it?

Next, if a bill is being presented for Military spending, only Military spending should be allowed as part of that bill.
Being able to add 10 B for Global Climate change research should not be allowed. That should be voted on a separate bill.
So in other words, if a bill is presented before Congress. Only related items should be attached to it. With all these after midnight add ons, we are giving our future away. And no one is reading them. And no one is being held accountable.

3rd. When a bill is prepared and getting ready to go before Congress. This bill should also be available for the public to read. Also for the same minimum time period that congress has to read it.
Then after Congress votes on it, the people can also vote or be polled on it. That would help the Senate to understand the popular public opinion prior to them having it come before them. Also, if the Senate amends the bill, these changes nee to be made public and there must be a minimum time frame before it is voted on.
That way they might also read it?

4th. An elected official should be forced to have made a vote on "x" amount of bills throughout their term. Call it a quota if you will. Simply voting present should not be acceptable. They should have to read, understand and do what is right for our country. After all, that is why we have them representing us. If they can't or haven't done their job, they should be at the scrutiny of their voters. Same as a worker is by their employers.

We the people, though voting for representatives to be our voices in Wash, should still be able to have a voice in the matters at hand. That way our representatives know what their voters truly want. And they will act accordingly, or lose the next election...

    1. Stated stimulus improvement suppose to be on the way. "It's going to get worse before it gets better."
Also, "that's a dog that ain't barked yet," Well, some hounds start to bark when they are going for the kill.
    2. Stated no wasted money or pork in stimulus. "That's not pork."
    3. No tax for those earning $250,000 or less. "Earning – not collecting."
    4. Change. The people receive a lot of old sayings and few new happenings.
    5. Transparency. "No audits or investigations."
They are just a bunch of "snake oil salemen.: They take our money and give us nothing of value and may even make us sick or dead.

It took Bush & Co 8 years to Destroy the Economy.

No Magician on Earth can bring it Back to Normal in 6 Months.

All the Republicans who are Criticizing Obama's Stimulus Plan, where were they when Bush Ruined the Economy and Screwed up Everything?

Bush & Co and these Republicans are Duds and Deflated Balloons.

It ain't nothin but distraction tactics by the go-NO-where republicans that can't find anything better, for our country, to do with their time! Though they are able to find alot of time for their extramarital affairs. BTW if the money does get wasted, I'd like to be the first in line to back-slap somebody! Personally I feel as if the establishment is attacking Pres. Obama from the inside out, sending US citizens to the unemployment line at such an alarming rate that it would mean that those voters would switch their alliance back to the republicans. Not so fast Free Market, I know you don't want regulation and accountability to linger over your head, but do you have to ruin lives in the process? Please wake up and smell the coffee, we can see right through your BS!!!

This whole democrat socialism experiment will fail. They just hope that everyone stays ignorant cause thats the only way they can stay in power. Guess what people are waking up and they'll be in full force in mid term elections. Why do you think the dems are trying to shove all these huge programs through? Well cause they know that there going to lose alot of seats. Don't believe me just watch

Mr Boehner is such a hypocrite. He told is ohio constituent that they would soon benefit from the stimulus and then released an ad critisizing the stimulus.

This is so typical of of the modern GOP, they continue to insult america's intellegence and count on the willfully uninformed partisian right wing zealots.

The modern GOP as usual is relying fear, division and obstrutionism to do anything to harm the nations recovery for cheap political points.

You would think by now they would get a new playbook, since all thinking americans are fully aware of their failed political philosophy.

This just shows how dumb the GOP and thier constituents truly are.

The GOP and Al Qeada both pray for America's failure.

The end of last year and at the beginning of this year, every economist worth his grain of salt told us it would get worse before it got better.

This was said before Obama even took office. Now that it is that way with jobs the GOP is keeping on their track of doing nothing but blaming Obama.

It has been obvious from the get go that the GOP has had no intention on trying to work with Obama or the Democratics and to do nothing but criticize in an attempts to brand this administration as a failure to win back congress and eventually the White House.

How pathetic. The party of No is also the party of no answers. They'd sell out every American in an attempt to sabotage progress to win a seat.

There is a reason why this former republican is not the only one and that the Republican party's base is shrinking.
