Johnston: Palin wanted to take the money, 'forget everything else'

(CNN) - Sarah Palin wanted to take the money and "just run with it," the father of her grandchild said Thursday.

Levi Johnston told reporters the Alaska governor was stepping down early to take advantage of millions in potential earnings. According to the Anchorage Daily News, the 19-year-old said that late last year he heard Palin say "how nice it would be to take some of this money people have been offering us and just run with it, and saying forget everything else."

He pointed to talk show offers and other potentially lucrative deals.

Earlier this week, Palin attorney Thomas Van Flein told the Washington Post that the governor had received "hundreds of credible offers since the campaign," including Hollywood projects, but had not taken advantage of any except her book deal. Johnston said that even the Palin children had been fielding offers.

Johnston said he saw how stressful Palin's job was for her – "how she came home late at night and things like that" – but said he thought " the big deal was the book. That was millions of dollars."

Palin spokeswoman Meg Stapleton dismissed Johnston's take, referencing his own show business aspirations. "It is interesting to learn Levi is working on a piece of fiction while honing his acting skills," Stapleton told reporters.

We all know she is about nothing but the money. Being Governor she could not talk or do the things she wanted to do for herself. Being Governor she is SHHhhhhhhhh while in office. We know her true colors.

What a jerk!!! Levi, sweetie, you should keep your mouth shut and be happy that the Palins are taking care of YOUR baby. It's very expensive to raise a child, but then, how would you know that?

Some advice: GET A JOB!!! Set some kind of example for your child.

I can't believe you would even consider printing this story. I fully understand the CNN perspective but this is taking your journalism to a new low.

Sarah Palin has been and always be a carpet bagger! She is an example of a person who should never have been elected to office.

She isn't qualified to be a dog catcher let alone a governor let alone a vp.

Sarah, your 15 minutes of fame are over!!!

Riiiight...the Governor of Alaska confided her financial dealings to the half-wit knucklehead who knocked up her daughter.

Who keeps sticking a microphone under this Cro-Magnum's mouth?

No....Really? Let me get this straight, yet another hypocritical "christian conservative" right-winger is more interested in money than in good governance or actually following through on her campaign promises?

Next you're going to tell us that the sun shines during the day but not at night. WHAT IS THE WORLD COMING TO?!!

Why does CNN bother reporting information from a person who has no credibility. This story is based on what Levi told an Alaskan newspaper of what he thought he heard Palin say over a year ago. Why does this make front page CNN news? Even if what he says is true, which i highly doubt, he heard her say this over a year ago, before she was even a VP candidate. Palin has experienced many changes since then, and so her statements a year ago could have easily changed. This was a worthless article in my opinion.

Well maybe if you paid child support, the Palins wouldn't have to provide for your child!

I hope Sarah Palin gets all the money she'll ever need - considering how the liberals and liberal media SLOTHS have treated her and her family!

I like how Palin's legal help attack Levi by citing his "aspirations". Except she is a former-politician citing her need to "serve the public from the outside" and make millions. He is a 19 year old kid who is taking absolutely no responsibility toward being an icon to a political party. He just wants to make millions. I guess she could say that I'm of questionable character too because I went to college and am working on my Master's Degree because I want a solid career that I love and makes decent money...

Even the spokepeople for Gov. Palin are snarky. Acting skills and writing fiction? How very professional of them. Levi's statements ring true given that many pundits are also saying money and her legal fees are the most likely reason she is quitting.

Is this a joke? What is he looking for? Why is anyone even listening to this kid-he's got a fairly obvious agenda. Regardless of how you feel about Palin why is ANYONE giving ths guy any credence? Seriously...why even give him another 15 minutes-couldn't he get that modeling job he was after since the first round of interviews? And he's talking about her being an opportunist? ( I can hear the hardcore haters now-go Levi tell it!)

Well, I have no reason to lie. Why do you think I didnt marry her daugther? welll because I didnt have money she forced her to dump me. This family is all about money. She knew from begining that she was not the perfect candidate , but the republican party offer her a huge sum of money she couldn't refused.

What's with this young punk?? Can't be a decent father, so he has to pick on the family of this former girlfriend. If anyone is looking for easy money, it is he.

Just when I was wondering how Levi Johnston could endear himself further to the other half of his child's family, he opens his mouth again. I'm so amazed what this kid will do (or say) when someone puts a stack of money under his nose.

It appears to me that Levi Johnston has a big mouth. He is trying to show off his big mouth and desire for attention to cover his little penis.
He is trying to capture the spot light hoping to land a big book deal himself. Levi is a disgraceful person.and should go into hiding. SHAME ON YOU LEVI.

It's interesting to me that Levi Johnston seems to be milking this opportunity for all it's worth – who is he anyway?!?! Just someone who is a teenage dad – I've seen him on talk shows, the news, and in magazines... funny that he is accusing Palin of quitting just to make money, when he seems to be using his ability to father a child as his ticket to Hollywood! He needs to shut up, get a real job and support his child! Who listens to this loser anyway?!?!

Palin's family needs the money because the frivolous lawsuits brought forth by Obama supporters in attempts to clog her political career, and stifle righteous conservatism.....hopefully her lawyer will make a few examples out of these liberal radicals....if not, hopefully Palin supporters will see to it that they people committing these false allegations get their just reward.

I was so upset when Sarah Palin specifically timed her resignation
to take away the attention of Michael Jackson's memorial. Michael
Jackson gave so much to the world. Sarah Palin? She laughs as she kills wolves. She is a horrible person. This shameless attention grabbing bs from palin has got to stop. It is not going to make the republicans win in 2010. In fact I hope the republicans lose everything in 2010. They deserve to. President Obama is doing a great job as
president and the democrats will keep the senate and the house in
    2010.
