Johnston: Palin wanted to take the money, 'forget everything else'

Johnston is the ex-fiance of Bristol Palin, the Alaska governor's daughter.

(CNN) - Sarah Palin wanted to take the money and "just run with it," the father of her grandchild said Thursday.

Levi Johnston told reporters the Alaska governor was stepping down early to take advantage of millions in potential earnings. According to the Anchorage Daily News, the 19-year-old said that late last year he heard Palin say "how nice it would be to take some of this money people have been offering us and just run with it, and saying forget everything else."

He pointed to talk show offers and other potentially lucrative deals.

Earlier this week, Palin attorney Thomas Van Flein told the Washington Post that the governor had received "hundreds of credible offers since the campaign," including Hollywood projects, but had not taken advantage of any except her book deal. Johnston said that even the Palin children had been fielding offers.

Johnston said he saw how stressful Palin's job was for her – "how she came home late at night and things like that" – but said he thought " the big deal was the book. That was millions of dollars."

Palin spokeswoman Meg Stapleton dismissed Johnston's take, referencing his own show business aspirations. "It is interesting to learn Levi is working on a piece of fiction while honing his acting skills," Stapleton told reporters.

LOL everyine wants to get a piece of the pie. Oh Levi, settle down young man. Your movie deal is in the works and you don't need to be doing this.

Once again, I love how a Palin post gets over 300 comments in seconds.

If she was an idiot and useless, than don't pay her any attnetion. If you have a fear than you will take time out to be sure and try and rip her down. If you really want her to go away, stop posting about her and CNN and the rest will see there is no intrest and move on....

You just can't do it though can you? :-)

This is a pretty good story, when we do not know where to start, if there will be and end. Who is right? who is wrong?
According to me, people like Palin do not take decision without thinking twice. The future will tell us more. Let's see.

Time will surely tell...that this boy is right on. Whomever thinks she cares about the country or the party needs their head examined.

Soon she will be everywhere (for money) all the while talking a good game to pacify her disciples. And she doesn't even do that well, talk a good game. If that recent announcement (rambling) was a preview of her unfiltered, then I see why Mccain and his people cut her loose.

I'm sure the only book that will be fiction will be Palin's.

Politics as normal when it comes to Palin. She just doesn't want you to know that.

No surprise there. Only surprise would be if she had actually done it for a noble reason.

I felt this was Palin's motivation from the beginning of this whole farce. When McCain asked her to join the ticket, she probably got dollar signs in her eyes. All she had to do was go through a few months of humiliation, then cash in, big-time. It's all going according to plan.

Johnston sounds like a kid with the "he said, she said" bit. Honestly my four year old doesn't lie and tattle as much as this kid. Please move on with your life and quit craving the spotlight.

I wonder. . . . We will be seeing episodes of Passing Time with the Palins on TV any time soon?

So CNN considers Johnson a reliable source? Is this the Enquirer or CNN? So CNN makes this headline of “hear say” from a young man who may have something to profit? Isn’t Levi the one trying to cash in?

I think it's sad for Levi to do this to his kid's family. Levi get some class you may end up regretting all this one day! My advice to Sarah Palin – take some time off from politics to clear your head. Too much pressure or stress is not healthy. It's a tough job having 5 kids; the youngest child has special needs, the eldest daughter is an unwed mother, her eldest son is serving in Iraq, and Sarah is now a new grand mother! This is a huge amount of pressure on 1 person.; not to mention all her oponent attacks. My advice to Palin is to take some time off from politics and clear your head. Don't let the GOP's thirst for power and a saviour destroy your life. Your only 45 years old, God willing u have time on your side.

  20. Another point

How many times have you said "It'd sure be nice to win the lottery and do whatever I want to do."? Isn't Levi Johnston selling interviews, just taking the money to say something that'll sell and running with the money? The day will come he has no more offers and needs to actually get a job. But for now he's "running with it". C'mon CNN. Slow news day? You're embellishing this from a nothing quotation to sell "news" regardless of damaging someone and are getting close to National Enquirer status. What's next? "Statue of Liberty impregnated by space aliens"?

Palin has made a classic mistake. She didn't keep this guy close and he has been inside her home. Now that they are not on speaking terms, he gets to tell what he knows.

Is all of it true, who knows. But Palin can't ignore the damage he can do with comments from her spokespeople. She should have taken very good care of Mr. Johnston. Now she will pay the price.

Only a crazy person didn't realize she quit for the money.

well well like the american public didnt know that it was money and further political ambitions that are motivating Sarah Palin. I would have had more respect for her had she said she was stepping down because she needs to spend more time with her children especially Trig because of his special needs. This lady thinks only of herself and what her future holds this is obvious!
