Latest ethics complaints should be 'a wake-up call,' Palin says

Gov. Palin's office announced Friday night that two more ethics complaints have been filed against her in the last week.

(CNN) – The two new ethics complaints filed against Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin in the past week should be ‘a wake-up call,’ the former Republican vice presidential candidate says.

In a statement released late Friday night, Palin’s office announced that two more ethics complaints had been filed against the governor in the week since she made her surprise announcement that she plans to step down later this month -including one complaint filed on Friday.

“Although the governor would not have thought it possible, the latest complaint rises to a new level of absurdity in alleging that she has been paid for interviews that she has given to the news media,” Palin’s chief of staff Mike Nizich said in a release announcing the filing of the recent complaints.

“It is amazing to me that anyone could think that, let alone put their name behind it and once again seek to distract state officials and needlessly increase their work load. The state is losing the value of some of its expenditures when public servants are pulled away from important assignments to deal with far-fetched and mean-spirited allegations,” added Nizich.

For her own part Palin used the leveling of two more ethics complaints against her in a week’s time to call for a more productive political discourse in her state.

“The only saving grace in this recent episode is that it proves beyond any doubt the significance of the problem Alaska faces in the ‘new normal’ of political discourse,” Palin also said in Friday’s statement announcing the complaints. “I hope this will be a wake-up call – to legislators, to commentators and to citizens generally – that we need a much more civil and respectful dialogue that focuses on the best interests of the state, rather than the petty resentments of a few.”

Of the total of 19 ethics complaints that have been filed against Palin or her staff, “15 have been resolved without any finding of wrongdoing, and four are now pending,” Friday’s statement from Palin’s office also said.

what should be clear is that SARAH PALIN is a laughing stock of the entire universe. She has proven to be the most incapable politician
we have ever seen. She should go hop on a moose and ride off into the sunset of Russia. WHAT A JOKE AND A TOTAL EMBARASSMENT .

Isn't it also true that seventeen of the nineteen complaints have been filed by citizens of Alaska, who are also Republicans? Somehow that always gets left out, and I think it's significant. Also, I thought SP was all over ethics and being held accountable? If she's having a problem with folks on her side of the aisle, in her state, doesn't it seem that her complaining is a bit over the top, not to mention out of line?

Oh come on really. 'Civil and Respectful Dialogue' was never in this womans vocabulary. I sincerely hope that these complaints keep on coming because every time they do it shows repeatedly just what kind of a nasty vengeful cow this woman is. And of course Nitich will defend Palin. That;s her job after all. Well enjoy the perks while you can because Palin will throw you under the tractor trailer wheels as soon as your usefulness is all used up.

Has anybody ever asked Palin what fossils are Hu????
She probably thinks they are the work of the Devil

Just because you quit before you're found guilty, doesn't make you innocent. The best is yet to come...

The worst part of all of this is that such an inexperienced politician quits before her term is up, and then gripes about "wastes of time" in regards to ethics complaints.

Not sure what country she has been in for the past 200+ years, but just about everything that politicians get their hands on is a waste of time and taxpayer money. Mrs. Palin is proving herself to be nothing more than an absolute joke. She is doing the Republican party, already walking wounded, a great disservice. Not to mention the rest of the country...Please stay away from the lower 48 and DO NOT run for president.

  7. IQ test required for all VOTERS!!!

Never ceases to amaze me how skilled the republicans are at spinning things to their benefit. Even their own misconduct is somehow a positive thing.

Its very telling that 3/4 of republicans support palin as a public official. They really have no clue as to what make a moral and ethical candidate! Can you imagine the levels of corruption we would have been subjected to if she had actually been elected VP!

I continue to wonder why no one asks "Why so many complaints" usually where there is smoke there's fire!
She has the nerve to ask for civil and respectful dialogue after her conduct during the campaign.
She left office for one reason and one reason only MONEY!
Alaksa would be better served if she just went away quietly – and the rest of us would appreciate never hearing from her again!

I believe that when she was running for vice president she also used petty and ridiculous charges. I guess what is good for the goose is not always good for the gander!!!

You notice how they don't mention that one of those ethics complaints did result in a guilty verdict. The smoke is her quitting her job. The fire has yet to show its face.

It astounds me that this woman thinks she can run for POTUS. If she thinks the oppostion is tough in Alaska, how can she run the country. What would she do if she did win the presidency and congress and senate are held by the democrats as they are now? Sounds like Mrs. Palin only likes to play politics if she can easily push her agenda, if not she takes her ball and goes home.

    Oh Come on!

Sarah Palin was the queen of uncivil and disrespectful dialogue on the 2008 campaign trail. These attempts on her part to twist legitimate ethical complaints into some "conspiracy" against her, are only pathically transparent posturing designed to garner sympathy from the segment of the populace gullible enough to believe her.

This has been obvious ever since "Troopergate", where the investigation showed her behavior to be unethical but not illegal.

Well, even if she has 100 complaints filed against her, she should keep fighting with her salary of 125,000 right?

Is it my imagination, or is Sarah Palin playing the victim card WAY TOO MUCH? Grow up Sarah! So much for that farce lable of "pitbull", you seem to act more like a whiney little "poodle"! It's no wonder that a small majority of "knuckle draggers" from Dixie support you! More than half of them aren't smart enough to know when to come in out of the rain anyway! And the rest of them see nothing wrong with "gettin hitched" to their 16 year old first cousins as well. So what's that tell you!

The left is so afraid of this women and it has to make you wonder why. The more they pile on and try and discredit her the more I want to see her continue to run for higher office. If the left doesn't want her this much then she has got be the right person to lead the United States.

Sarah Palin needs to ask herself what she is doing in her life that brings on so much discord. Seems she is experiencing relationship battles in both her personal and professional lives. '

Open discord with her Mother In Law, an all out war with her Ex brother in law. fighting and alienation of the father of her grand child. Fighting and firing of her own staff and state employees, obvious battles with McCains campaign personel, an onslot of political retaliation of ethics complaints that no other Governor before her or current Governor has experienced.

Palin's inability to creat and maintain relationship in her family and the political arena is a perfect example of why Sarah Palin was right to resign.

Does Sarah understand what "ethics" means? Does the bible describe this word? If not, forget it. She probably thinks it's something democrats invented to piss her off.

Just who are these people that are lodging all these complaints?
Sounds like they set out to dethrown her and succeeded.
Its to bad that Palin is so thin skinned as to let them get to her.

I find it interesting how concerned the Republicans are at the waste of taxpayer money and public servant time when it's one of their own on the hot seat. They didn't seem that concerned with it when it was Bill Clinton, or Hillary...or Jim Wright under question. The entire party, along with their lapdog news outlet (Fox), reek of hipocrisy.
