Vice President Joe Biden will headline a fundraiser Thursday for Democratic gubernatorial candidate Creigh Deeds.

WASHINGTON (CNN) - The White House is calling out the big guns later this week in the battle to keep two governorships in Democratic hands.

Vice President Joe Biden will headline a fundraiser Thursday in Virginia for Democratic gubernatorial candidate Creigh Deeds.

And as previously reported, Barack Obama will be the main attraction Thursday afternoon at a campaign rally for Gov. Jon Corzine of New Jersey. The first term governor trails former federal prosecutor Chris Christie in the most recent polls of New Jersey voters.

While Obama has headlined seven political fundraising events this year, this will be the first campaign rally he's attended for a fellow Democrat since taking over as president in January.

In Virginia, where Democratic Gov. Tim Kaine is term limited and can't run for re-election, Deeds is locked in what surveys suggest is a dead heat with Republican Bob McDonnell, the former state attorney general.

@Kathy

Keep the pipe dream going. You might even convince yourself some day that Palin really is presidential material.

Like it or not, Obama has 3 years left of his presidency. Unless you count flushing herself down the toilet, "experience", Palin hasn't anywhere to go to gain the "experience" she will need to compete within her own party for nomination, let alone in the national arena.

One by one, she has quit every job she has ever held.

demwit   July 13th, 2009 5:13 pm ET

Unfortunately Doofus and the Big Spending Socialist won't be of much help with moderate democrats and independents.

Mary   July 13th, 2009 5:13 pm ET

Obama stick to messing up our country!!! Why bring more screw- ups to the mix!!!

Cali J   July 13th, 2009 5:12 pm ET

Hey Biden and Obama, how about attacking unemployment and healthcare, and foreclosures instead of campaigning. Leave the campaigning up to those who are fighting for their own positions and you two do what you were elected to do. Obama has never gotten out of campaign mode. Unemployment reaching 10% quickly should wipe that stupid smile off of your face. The federal deficit surpassed 1 trillion dollars today for the first time in history, and there's two months to go in this fiscal year. Vote these clowns out as soon as possible.

tedious898   July 13th, 2009 5:10 pm ET

Boy, the Faux news flunkies are in full force.
Let's see these faithful idiots are pushing the usual talking points:

- Its all Obama's fault the economy is all screwed up. Heck...he's had a full 6 months to fix the mess left by "DUMB Dubya" and to this point has come thru. We want Bush and Cheney back in the WH

- Obama is a failure....community organizer has no qualifications. The reality is our President is an intellectual. you know... Harvard honors, and constitutional professor. Of course u ignorant losers have nothing in common with a scholar and educational achievements.

- Obama isn't smart without a teleprompter. Right........Of course the fact the previous president couldn't read much better than a 3rd grader would appeal to you people so much more.

I understand that you hate Obama for a myriad of reasons. But if you have one iota of a pea brain, you might cut the man some slack in trying to fix the mess we're in. It takes longer than 6 months to clean up 8 years of incompetence. If you don't believe me, take a class in macro economics ...right after you graduate 1st grade. Geesh

seebofubar   July 13th, 2009 5:07 pm ET

If Obama and Biden are the "BIG GUNS" then the Democratic party is doomed. TOO BAD. What a pair of SCHLUBS !

Gonadd   July 13th, 2009 5:06 pm ET

Kena…..like Barack Obama you are a misinformed liberal loon. It's a shame that you don't back your research up with facts. If being a Senator is not holding a real job. Then please explain to me how you can support Mr. Obama who couldn't even finish his first term as gov...... oh, wait, he didn't even have that much experience.

Bob in NJ   July 13th, 2009 5:04 pm ET

Christie going to run away with this one..Too many people in Jersey fed up with insane property taxes..

Proud Member..Party of No   July 13th, 2009 5:04 pm ET

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Monday shows that 28% of the nation's voters now Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as President. Thirty-six percent (36%) Strongly Disapprove giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of –8.

Palincomparison to Obama   July 13th, 2009 5:03 pm ET

Unlike the last President, our brilliant new President can multitask.
Have you noticed how much he's gotten done and how much he's improved foreign relations?

Have you noticed that we're 20% into the implementation of the stimulus?

Have a little patience. You put up with an idiot for 8 years and Obama can't undo all the damage in 5 months.

He's on the right track.

Quit criticizing and try to be part of the solution. Volunteer. Ask how you can help instead of being whiners and bad losers.

Be the party of Yes We Can. Join the winning team and be a patriot and support your brilliant new President. It can only help.

When the msm starts reporting the TRUE NEWS and not sucking Barry's latest pipe dream, maybe the liberals will finally realize they got screwed. Unfortuantely, its too late for the rest of us. Barry and his dreams have screwed us all and we'll be paying for it for many years to come.

JLS   July 13th, 2009 5:01 pm ET

Corzine is toast! If Obama is smart(an oxymoron if ever I heard one), he'd stay away.
As to Joe "foot in mouth" Biden, if there's ever a reason to vote republican in VA, it'll be when Joe says something stupid, which is automatic.

Phredd   July 13th, 2009 5:00 pm ET

'Spendin Bo' & 'Bumblin Joe' are doing their level best to put this once great country completely in the crapper. Jimmy Carter type unemployment and inflation are right around the corner.

Enough   July 13th, 2009 4:58 pm ET

Can't the constant campaigner Obama ever quit campaigning and get to work?? I guess he can only do what he knows how to do..............and that isn't running the country!

John   July 13th, 2009 4:54 pm ET

Thats what liberals need is foot in the mouth Joe speaking for them.

WHAT AN IDIOT THAT GUY IS!!!! PRESIDENT ISN'T MUCH BETTER

gt   July 13th, 2009 4:53 pm ET

This country is getting worse everyday ,,,,,buget out of control... spending money we dont have , ,,, moral decay ,,, jobs gone ,,, thanks but know thanks joe.....

Chris D.   July 13th, 2009 4:49 pm ET

I see Corzine winning w/o Obama's help...... I also like Creigh Deeds in Virginia.........

Kena   July 13th, 2009 4:47 pm ET

Kathy .....like Sarah Palin you are a misinformed hockey mom. It's a shame that you don't back your research up with facts. If being a Senator is not holding a real job. Then please explain to me how you can support Mrs. Palin who couldn't even finish her first term as governor.

Jeff in Atlanta   July 13th, 2009 4:40 pm ET

With the deficit topping $1.1 trillion for the year and no jobs being created, tax revenue greatly exaggerated in obama's budget, his plans and "guesses" for the economy being proven wrong daily... who wants another person in government following his lead?

Go McDonnell!!!!!

Thin is in?   July 13th, 2009 4:37 pm ET

Maybe you and Bo Bo can tout all your accomplishments Barry?

Trillion dollar defecit, high unemployment, a stimulus bill that had NO stimulus, apology tour of the world, backtracking on MANY campaign promises etc, etc.

Mr Community organizer, you are ONE and DONE and take Joe the plagarizer with you.

Wait a minute, Obama was only a community organizer and spent less than a year as a Senator before running for President and when he did try to do his job he voted present over 150 times.

Wow, what leadership skillz he has, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh as in "it's not my fault", "I want to vote present" or "I want to apologize for the last 200 plus years".

Is Palin ready, not a chance, but neither was this "community organizer".

Four and the door Barry.

aware   July 13th, 2009 4:36 pm ET

Aloha and mahalo nui loa Sarah Palin! You are not "politics as usual" but Obama is! :)

Roll on 2012!

Jaz in Chitown   July 13th, 2009 4:34 pm ET

@ Royster

Abysmal record??? How about hundreds of present votes, continuous failure after failure of policies and more time spent bringing in the cash for rich politicians and traveling to New York City and living it up in France than actually doing anything? If Palin's record is Abysmal, then Obama's record is the baseline to which horrid records are measured. ...but he talks real good so I guess you'll vote for him anyway. You liberals must be a used car salesman's dream, you'll fall for anything.

awaitingliberalizationbyCNN   July 13th, 2009 4:33 pm ET

Don't know much about Deeds, but we all know Corzine is an incompetent, partisan crook and based on Dutch, BadNewz,VA@ Deeds sounds like he would have a kinship with Biden and Obama. As a republican candidate, I can't think of anyone I would rather have in my corner than Joe "the Gaffer" and if the economy is still stagnant and lackluster in November (as I am sure it will be since the current administration is composed of arrogant idealouges rather than real people), Obama would be great to have campainging also. He never stopped, it is all he can do, no real brains required, just sneakiness.

Angie in PA   July 13th, 2009 4:33 pm ET

Dont worry Get Barack out there that will be a sure win for Corzine!

Average Guy in Kansas   July 13th, 2009 4:32 pm ET

Hey Joe, a word to the wise: You might want to run your talking points for Mr. Deeds by Mr. Deeds AND your boss. We really like you, so don't give the Repubs any more fodder by cramming your shoe down your throat, OK?

jm   July 13th, 2009 4:31 pm ET

The hubress of these guys is amazing and totally unfounded.

Shibumi   July 13th, 2009 4:30 pm ET

BO BO and Chia Pet stumping for the Govs. I guess they have nothing better to do with their time (economy, unemployment, NOKO, crushing the private sector, etc.) Why not just send in ACORN and secure a solid victory?
I'm sure the Demos theme will be "fiscal conservatism" and the wacko libs will have another cup of Kool Aid while chanting "Yes We Can!"

Kevin B   July 13th, 2009 4:30 pm ET

Joe in NJ....... The question is why didn't the GOP even allow GWB to attend thier convention last fall.?

I never seen such a slap in the face of a sitting president. Goes to show the low caliber of the previous administration.

I would wager that Mr Obama presence helps Corzine, but the govenor is in trouble overall.

I think it so liberal funny for the person to talk about Palin being an amatuer. What the heck do you think Obama was and is. He was a community organizer. Never held a real job or ran a state or city, which is why we are in the boat we are in now. Everything he promised on the campaign he isn't doing. The Middle class (oh wait I think he calls us the rich people now) will be the ones hit hardest with taxes. I get a hoot how Sara Palin scares the liberals to death. They wouldn't condem her so much if they weren't afraid. Obama will be a one term president when we have to start paying for all of his ideas he thought up with no way to fund them.

Angie in PA   July 13th, 2009 4:24 pm ET

Federal Budget tops 1 Trillion for first time!

Thanks a Bunch Bush/Cheney and Republican congress for the Wars and Spending money like no tommorow thanks for the massive debt we have!

yuri   July 13th, 2009 4:24 pm ET

All is fair in love, war, business, and politics-one could suppose. In so far as it does not interfere with a functioning Gov., there will be little attention paid to these fund raising events and they won't be hair-raisin' ones, anyway.

makesUwonder   July 13th, 2009 4:23 pm ET

Having Obama and Biden campaigning would be like asking Shelia Jackson Lee to speak at ones funeral. NO THANK YOU!

Trade Freedom for Security, Lose Both   July 13th, 2009 4:23 pm ET

I hope Obama spends as much time as he can campaigning. The more time he spends reading off teleprompters for other candidates, the less time he has to screw up our country. As for Biden, I want him to campaign because I need a good joke to laugh at.

FREE AMERICA   July 13th, 2009 4:22 pm ET

OBAMA = Trillions in the hole.
OBAMA = Goverment owned car companies.
OBAMA = No New Taxes. Oh i'm sorry Cap n Trade isn't a tax it's an entitlement. Read my lips no new entiltlements.
OBAMA = Goverment health care.
OBAMA+CZARS = The undermining of the consititution. Over stepping the meaning of the Tenth Amendment.
Come on out OBAMA you can help the next round of congressmen for the USSA. Oh sorry USA silly me for thinking were becoming to socialist.

Biden/Obama...forever.

aware   July 13th, 2009 4:15 pm ET

Biden is good for a laugh but no more Obama! His words are a sham! Maybe the dems should consider the twenty-eight year old who pens the words for the teleprompter BO uses! :)

JJ in NY   July 13th, 2009 4:13 pm ET

Corzine is nothing more than an affluent jerk who bought his office. He doesn't deserve to hold any political office .

Royster   July 13th, 2009 4:13 pm ET

All the top politicos get the vote out for their faves!

This will be interesting........when Palin campaigns for the 'other' side in these races...will she once again try and tie Obama to terrorists? Will she once again say 'Say it ain't so Joe' to harass Biden?
Will she once again look like a rank community college amateur next to professional politicians?

And once again, will GOP'ers give her 'Pity Protection' because all the big bad politicians keep calling her abysmal political record out?

felicia   July 13th, 2009 4:11 pm ET

Good i want my President to suceed and i hope he kick the pants off the repigs. They don't deserve another term.

Joe in NJ   July 13th, 2009 4:07 pm ET

Why would anyone want Obama or Biden campaigning for them?

pauie_nj   July 13th, 2009 4:07 pm ET

Shouldn't Obama and Biden be concentrating on more important things like running our country? It seems like all Obama has been doing the past several months is making appearences and traveling abroad. How about actually working for a change ...

Dutch/Bad Newz, VA   July 13th, 2009 4:07 pm ET

Thank You Mr. President. Mr. Deeds has a hard fight ahead of him. People fail to realize that McDonnell beat Creeds for the AG job. I'm almost certain republicans voted in the democratic primary for Deeds knowing that McDonnell can beat him. Not only that, Deeds son just ot hit with a weed and drinking violation. That sure won't help. Knowing southern republicans, they will jump all over this. Please help Mr. Deeds get elected Mr. President. He needs all the help he can get.

Keep the Old Dominion BLUE

TCM   July 13th, 2009 4:07 pm ET

Yeah, maybe Obama can tout this headline:

"..Federal Budget Deficit Tops $1 Trillion for the First Time.."

Courtesy of Obama and the liberal democratic congress since 2006.

Debby   July 13th, 2009 4:07 pm ET

By the time these races come about Obama/Biden will do more harm than good for these governors if they keep on the path their going.
