Sarah Palin's political action committee, SarahPAC, has raised close to $730,000 since the beginning of 2009.

(CNN) – Just over a week after announcing her intention to resign as governor of Alaska, Sarah Palin's political action committee reports raising close to $730,000 in the first six months of the year.

According to a report filed with the Federal Elections Commission Monday, SarahPAC raked in $732,867 from the beginning of the year through June 30. The former GOP vice presidential candidate's PAC further reported more than $450,000 cash on hand with no debts owed.

The FEC report shows the majority of contributions, $420,000, has come from donations of under $200. By law, the PAC does not have to identify those contributors. More than 700 individuals meanwhile gave over $200 to the committee.

But Palin, who has pledged to spend her days out of the governor's office supporting conservative candidates, has yet to dig deep into the coffers for many candidates.

According to the report, the PAC has only made two political contributions this year: $5,000 to John McCain's Senate reelection bid and $5,000 to Alaska Sen. Lisa Murkowski's effort.

Palin's largest expenditure, just over $100,000, was to Virginia fundraising firm Edonation.com.

She's a businesswoman, not a politician. It's time to cash in and enjoy life. Can you blame her?

tlc   July 13th, 2009 4:31 pm ET

SaraPAC or even Sarah Palin will not get one red cent of my money. A few month ago I was wondering what this SaraPAC was about. I went into it and was shocked to see that SaraPAC donations was going to Sarah Palin and her family legal fees. Major scam in my eyes.

JoJo...sorry to disappoint you but Sarah Palin will never beat Prez Obama. She does not have the intellect

"intelligent" and "jindal" don't belong in the same sentence...to quote:

"...something called 'volcano monitoring'?"

weeks later a volcano erupted in Alaska causing millions in damage and polluting the air and ground for a several mile radius, forcing people to seal their windows and stay inside as much as possible...the ash even clogs and ruins car engines, preventing people from driving

I can't wait to see which conservative Dems she campaigns for!

Apparently she understands that in the next two election cycles it is not about retaining GOP seats – it is about retaining blue dog Dem seats.

The Progressives are coming for the old establishment Dems and we will not lose...

Average Guy in Kansas   July 13th, 2009 4:29 pm ET

There's ya go, Ms. Palin. You're smarter than everyone thought you were. Dump the people of Alaska by bailing out early, many said. But, by gosh, you showed 'em. All that money you're raking in for your PAC shows just how smart you are and how dumb the rest of us are, right? Guess you showed you really CAN put lipstick on a pig.

Boy, were we a bunch of goombahs, or WHAT!?!?!?

"GOP – Party of Tolerance" – Remember the saying, "Fool me once....."
Well the American people were fooled once, remember GWB, and are not about to go that route again with Sarah.

Attractive you say? Put a hood on Ms. Palin and she would have never been elected to anything because of her knowledge. We prefer intelligence over tolerance, thank you!

Sharon   July 13th, 2009 4:28 pm ET

The Dems have had Ralph Nadar splitting the vote for all these years. Now the Republicans will have Sarah Palin. It'll be fun to watch.

yuri   July 13th, 2009 4:28 pm ET

Gee whiz ! She sure is capturin' headlines and is cornerin' a lot of cash in a captivating manner. For whatever reason one can fathom, she clearly can coax and cajole a certain class of people to sing with her in the same tone, and tune.

What a Joke   July 13th, 2009 4:27 pm ET

You have got to be kidding me. If anyone thinks that Sarah Palin can beat President Obama, thanks for the next four years. Yes she can rally – but only to her base. She has yet to get any new people, and I highly doubt independents will vote for her. If she is going to do something, she better go home and read and study. She can't even talk unless her speech is written for her. I'm not a Palin-hater, but I know nonsense when I hear it, and if you think the United States is bad now, you just wait if by chance she happens to get that job. For all you conservatives, be fair and honest when nominating your next candidate. As the old saying goes, "be careful what you wish for because you just might get it."

When it comes to accusation of bigotry, NO ONE can top Democrats for doing that; last year's election was a concrete example how the Democrats use racism and bigotry in their campaign. Democrats are just plain meanie and hateful people. They hate anyone who doesn't believe in their drivel. What made it worse they use words of Tina Fey, a comedian from SNL. How does it feel looking stupid now?

Adele   July 13th, 2009 4:26 pm ET

All the money in the world can not buy you intelligence and we know she doesn't have any. So with all that money she still is going to stay stupid.

Mike   July 13th, 2009 4:25 pm ET

So she's going for the money. But in the immortal words of the comedian Ron White "you can't fix stupid" no matter how much money you have!

MJ   July 13th, 2009 4:25 pm ET

Go Girl – More power to her (guess the Democrats have never, ever, raised money). Take a good look at Bill Clinton.

Where has the GOP gone   July 13th, 2009 4:25 pm ET

Palin is the best thing to have ever happened for the Democratic party. If I didn't know better I would say that she is a Democrat plant. If she gets the 2012 nomination then its 4 more years of Obama guarenteed.

Shawn - GA   July 13th, 2009 4:25 pm ET

No one thought she would be elected in 2008, The fact that it was as close an election as it was is scary. I recall a young Gov who ran and got laughed at only to use that national spotlight to win the office of Pres. (speaking of Clinton)

2008 was for nothing more than to bring her out of nowhere and give her national attention. I would say for better or worse that the plan worked.

If a Senetor who voted present very often, with little exp. can be President, then why not her?

I am just pointing out diffrent perspectives, there is plenty of hate but I stay away from all that.

God Bless America, her people and her President.

welches, Oregon   July 13th, 2009 4:25 pm ET

yea, I'm certainly not 'scared' or 'worried' about Palin. I say WELCOME! You are the best gift the Democratic party could get in this year and any year!

Come on girl – declare your presidential bid.

citizenjane   July 13th, 2009 4:24 pm ET

@Debby "She will top Obama in contributions and she isn't even running for anything LOL"
---------------------–
She may not be running FOR anything, but she is definitely running AWAY from Alaska and the commitment she made to those in Alaska who voted her as their governor.

The election was held in Nov. 2008. Obama won, remember? Which contributions are you talking about? Those of last year or those to be decided for the year 2012?

Jane Marsee   July 13th, 2009 4:24 pm ET

Sarah Palin was not my pick for VP. In my opinion, most people who voted for John McCain (myself included) voted for Sen. McCain and Gov Palin was tagging along. I think that had Sen. McCain chosen Mitt Romney he would have had a better chance and may have won. Sen. Obama outspent Sen. McCain two to one in order to snow the American people, but then again, there was enough past associations’ history for anyone- not too lazy to think for themselves–that would have been a precursor to what Obama has, is and plans to do.

Boot Pelosi from Congress   July 13th, 2009 4:23 pm ET

Riley   July 13th, 2009 4:22 pm ET

Fear not citizens – the Powers That Be in the Republican party (Rove, Cheney, Romney, to name a few) will never let her be the candidate. even John McCain won't back her. She cost the Republicans the last election.

PAC It UP   July 13th, 2009 4:22 pm ET

OK Here is the Perspective!!

Kay Bailey Hutchison: 6.7 Million Raised first 6 months of this Year
Sarah Palin PAC: 730 Thousand Raised first 6 months of this Year.

So…..if 730K is 'Big' Money…….what is 6.7 million? 'Mega-Money'??

Let's all put Palin's 'six' PAC in real perspective….namely…MINIMAL impact.

Run Kay and take back Texas from the GOP and Chuck Norris!!

Leslie   July 13th, 2009 4:22 pm ET

This proves a point, Sarah Palin has millions of followers who contribute to her PAC $200.00 and less. You can't put a good governor down, no matter how much you badmouth her. Some people even use words of Tina Fey in SNL as Sarah's. That tells you one thing, those who hate Sarah Palin don't have discerning ability facts from fiction. Sarah has millions of supporters contributing to her PAC; average contribution is $20.00.

S.B. Stein E.B. NJ   July 13th, 2009 4:22 pm ET

A fool and his money are soon parted. Apparently there are some who helped Palin's PAC contribute $730,000. I guess there are people who believe that Palin can do something. I can't imagine what that is because no one has told us in anything close to being specific.

MommaM   July 13th, 2009 4:21 pm ET

I was sitting here thinking I hadn't read anything about Sarah on the internet today and that made me happy – then this popped up.

Dutch/Bad Newz, VA   July 13th, 2009 4:21 pm ET

maybe Levi is right...she's just out for as much money as she get her hands on...

Expat American   July 13th, 2009 4:21 pm ET

Amidst the prevailing high school football game mentality coming from the far right, Palin's supporters mistake disgust with fear. No one fears Palin. The fact that such an inarticulate, unintelligent bigot was given a national stage upon which to voice her intellectual shortcomings and racial/religious bigotry is disgusting...

The world laughed at Palin and her supporters during the campaign, and continue to do so today.

No one is 'afraid' of Palin. Is the world disgusted that people like her and her supporters still exist in the United States in 2009? Definitely.

notfooledtx   July 13th, 2009 4:21 pm ET

Yep, she can rake in the bucks. So can Brittney Spears, but I don't want her anywhere near the white house either.

Sam from Fla   July 13th, 2009 4:20 pm ET

SF   July 13th, 2009 4:19 pm ET

I'm bored with Sarah's Soap. I think I will take Palin's leading example a QUIT watching, reading or posting about her! May CNN do the same!

the southern progressive   July 13th, 2009 4:18 pm ET

i have resolved any issues with the soon to be former governor sarah palin, resigning myself to the sidelines as a spectator to the barrage of haters and lovers.. extremes which i leave reserved to other things worth my energy.. but i will say this..

anyone who thinks that sarah palin will get the republican nomination for president in 2012 is seriously fooling themselves. there are too many who are just like her, on the cusp of ultimate leadership, in the republican party... that i just dont see her getting the nomination. no matter how many times she winks. her following, as loyal as they are, are just not enough. as this past election has shown, despite the conservative leadership;s dislike of moderate republicans... the people of the party think differently..and sarah is just not moderate enough to appease the voters.. but good luck to her in all her adventures

beth   July 13th, 2009 4:18 pm ET

Since when do The Sarah followers have the right to judge that the Dems are nervous. Sooo silly!!!! I'm not nervous. The Republican party will never have her as their candidate after the fiasco with her as McCain's running mate. They will be looking for Bobby Jindal or someone conservative and INTELLIGENT. I will happily support a Republican if elected next time, if they have the capacity for the job.

Steve in Kentucky   July 13th, 2009 4:17 pm ET

Whether it's rewriting an Alaska governor's office press release, such as the "reaction" story Friday on the ethics complaints, or reporting the latest poopy diaper of baby Tripp, CNN must have at least one Palin story every single day.

CNN, the official sponsor of Sara Palin!

Now, quick, think of tomorrow's Palin story and get on to it now.

Donna from Colorado Springs   July 13th, 2009 4:17 pm ET

So Levi was right........she did quit for the money! She can raise all the money in the world, but it wouldn't help any possible future run for office for her. Money won't buy intelligence, and that is one thing that she is sorely lacking!

Susan (Michigan)   July 13th, 2009 4:17 pm ET

Yessirreee, she's quitting her job because she loves Alaska and her family so much. (And cash, evidently.) Wait until the book deal details come out, and her new Fox talk show. The woman may not be smart enough for the White House, but she's no dummy about marketing herself. It's just amazing that so many people are falling for her "poor little me" routine. I think she truly is a barracuda, and she definitely isn't middle class and struggling to make ends meet.

Ted   July 13th, 2009 4:16 pm ET

That will all go to pay legal fees. You betcha!!

Ardi   July 13th, 2009 4:16 pm ET

Palin may appeal to millions of people and she may be able to raise millions of dollars. But her resignation as Gov of Alaska and not finishing the term will haunt her in the future if she seeks the presidency in 2012.

JoJo   July 13th, 2009 4:16 pm ET

If Palin run in 2012 against Obama she probably will win. Obama has his race card that is still using even in Africa. For him being the first black to be elected president is probably good enough for him, everything else can come secondary. His ratings are falling, he has done mostly eveything he said, much a little too early to my surprise. Now what. If Sarah Palin concentrate on her bid for running in 2012 she will be elected. I am for one I will vote for her, she has as we say in the south, grits.

nina   July 13th, 2009 4:16 pm ET

I strongly disagree with her, why shei still talking?

Ken   July 13th, 2009 4:16 pm ET

I sure don't want her or her PAC to go away. I want the pathetic rightwingers of this country to continue to waste their money by sending it in to this lip-sticked badger's PAC. I celebrate daily the rightwing money wasted on the last election....and I pop yet another beer at the thought of the waste that will occur in 2010. Hoooooorrraaaaaay!!!!!

david, CA   July 13th, 2009 4:16 pm ET

The depth of delusion and scarcity of facts on the right gives the rest of us hope that the GOP continues to crash and burn on into 2010 and beyond.

To those who think she is a threat, try really thinking. The money was raised in SIX months! It might last all of two weeks in a campaign. Besides, the quitter hadn't announced that she was leaving her post as governor yet. Let's just see how much she raises in the next six months.

Here's a thought. If she were elected to another political position, how long would she stay in that job? Just a thought!

Here's another thought. Stay home Sarah and take care of those children you are so protective of. We don't care if LaToya thinks Michael was murdered. We don't care if LaPalin thinks Putin is sneaking around her back yard at night.
I case you missed the subtle, hidden message: WE DON'T CARE!

I really thing most Republicans really don't know their math. 6 month it took her to raise over 700,000 when in one day President Obama raised 1 million so I see you are just a stupid airhead supporter of Sara Palin. I see why you stupid people don't believe the ecomony is bad becasue you have money to donate to this Stupid uneducated racist dividing hatful woman that will never be the President of the USA.

Palin: the person we love to hate. She is entertaining and knows how to keep herself in the spotlight. It's not that those who dislike her are afraid of her. It's that those of us who really dislike her can see her for who she is. She knows how to play towards the extreme right. She knows how to play them like a fiddle. She spouts hate and blame and morals and they eat it up. Palin is extremely uneducated in the economy, geography and politics but she is highly educated in how to work extremists up to a frenzy. Remember extremists are the reason the country is in a mess right now.

I have to ask....what is it that you people see in her that makes you think she could run this country? Did anyone watch the Katie Couric interview?? I know the Right will say it was rigged with hard questions but COME ON...she wants to be in the White House not serving burgers at Wendys.

1) She couldn't name a single issue currently before the Supreme Court and she wants to appoint justices?!?!?

2) She agreed with McCain that the fundamentals of our economy were sound but couldn't tell you which measurements those "fundamentals" were.

3) She constantly tried to change the topic to "Obama is a terrorist" which had no bearing on HER credentials.

4) She fell apart totally on almost every question and then later blamed Couric for asking hard questions.

Soooo, I ask again. What did this woman do to make people think she could run the country? or is this a "question to no where"?

Every Day we heard about the troops and numbers killed in Iraq and Afghanistan.
WHY dont we hear ANYTHING about the troops killed in Iraq.
WHY dont we hear ANYTHING about the troops killed in Afghanistan.
It is great to hear about little miss Palin everyday, but really.

I thought this was an administration of transparency.
Barack is a liar.
Simply a liar.
He is changing the country and ruining our economy, health care, CIA, everything. This is the wors President of the US ever. HE makes Carter look like a genius.

sara, caribou lil, palin is a loser and a quitter. She uses her children every chance she can get, incites violence against the President of the United States, and lets her own state molder with no direction while she is out doing talk shows and campaigning for herself.

She has shown she can take all the trash thrown at her and she keeps going! She is a great inspiration for all Americans and she is not afraid to speak her mind and take on powerful insiders who have always counted her out. No one can deny Palin is an attractive GOP candidate and the frontrunner in 2012.

Doug, New Jersey   July 13th, 2009 4:00 pm ET

With around 30 million liberal Democrats who want nothing more than to see her and her family killed, she will need a lot of money just for security. Alan   July 13th, 2009 4:00 pm ET

Wake up. We're not squirming at ALL. We realize Palin is a disaster and her dropping out as Governor makes her even more worthless as a candidate than she might have been before.

Her claim, for example, that Obama doesn't have the experience she does? He'll have FOUR YEARS in the oval office plus. She'll have...uh...about the same as when she failed as a vice presidential candidate.

So much for "experience."

What we fear are the types of people who would ever consider her a viable candidate. These are people who have no concept what it takes to run a country. Thank God the majority has awakened.

The more they hate her the more money she makes trough donations. What the liberals should do is to atack the media/CNN for bringing her name up constantly. I'm an independent and I love it. She's laughing all the way to the bank and the liberals can't sleep at night over this. Keep up the good work CNN. .

Sorry that is small money compare to President Obama. She laughing, but she will not be the President of the USA I don't care how much money she rack in from you mindless stupid racist rich white people. SHE DO NOT HAVE THE VOTES. She have about 3,000 followers that is not enough. DO YOU MATH!

Barack Obama raised more money in August recorded in a one-month period, with his campaign disclosing on Sunday that it collected $66 million and drew 500,000 first-time donors to his candidacy.

Beatrice   July 13th, 2009 3:58 pm ET

I said once that I was going to let her go... and actually I have made a lot of progress lately ... and yes, this is my last comment! For real!!! If she ever comes close to the white house I will rely on God to reassure me, something I often do when someone gives me great concern. I prayed a lot during the Bush years!!!! The greatest thing about the US democracy is that a president cannot stay more that 8 years... yes, I know, a lot of damage can be done...(as we know) but if things go to much to the extreme one way of the other the system always bounces back!!! I am French, lived in the US for 18 years and was thrilled when I took the American Citizenship. I don't think Sarah Palin would like me very much! She probably would think that I am a scary Socialist..
You know those French people!!! Who, by the way have a great health care system and don't have to worry about giving a good education to their kids! (By the way Sarkosy is from the right!) . In France we say "L'indifference est le plus grand des mépris". My bad translation would be "show indifference when you despise someone" . The wolf hunting makes me sick and showing indifference thinking about that is hard...but I am working on it... I know God wants me to be forgiving.

There is a saying, "That if you dry and roll up poop somebody will smoke." Well, there are a lot of Sarah Palin (SP) poop smokers out there.

Funny how most of these SP poop smokers would not accept hiring a teacher who quits her job because the students were difficult to deal to a higher position. Yet, the SP poop smokers somehow believe that she would do a better job governing with 300 million people when she could NOT do it with slightly under 700,00 people.

Wow, what leadership skillz he has, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh as in "it's not my fault", "I want to vote present" or "I want to apologize for the last 200 plus years".

And yet just recently she siad that she will be traveling around the country to help raise money for other canditates, how can you stay home devoting time to the family doing that... This woman has let fame and the limelight go to her head......She's still dumb as a rock, and now it's obvious that her supporters are as dumb as she is, just giving away money with no return in sight.. bescaus she will not make it to the White House, raising money is so different when it comes to raising votes...the majority of America.s view of Sarah Palin is not good..

Uhmmm.....next thing you'll have to do...is get smart people to vote for you. As it stands, you are shy by about 30% of what you would need to get in office.

If Palin were elected, we would officially have the stupidist leader in all of history. Now, don't get me wrong, I'm all for being first in things, and I'm all for equal opportunity. But it shouldn't apply to stupid people, such as "Five years to get a journalism degree so that she can come off as a joke when communicating" Palin

Jim   July 13th, 2009 3:39 pm ET

Peggy Noonan, thoughtful Republican and conservartive, in an outstanding article had it right. Sarah Palin like George Bush is a sower of discord....Thoughtful , one might add intelligent types, like the late William Buckley , can see that Sarah is intellectually thin...she may sell but she is not presidental material never will be!!!

I believe you under estimate the Palin effect. Most average americans above all believe in fairness and justice. When CNN runs front page stories with the 19 year old as a source we should all listen to or even care about what he has to say its very sad for journalism. The constant attacks on this women has given her the support of (average americans ) for they see that a clear injustice is being done. They will correct it at the voting both if this continues..

Steve from NY   July 13th, 2009 3:37 pm ET

Just like I said before that CNN never posted my comment, the more CNN brings her up the more the liberals are squirming. They don't like her. The more they hate her the more money she makes trough donations. What the liberals should do is to atack the media/CNN for bringing her name up constantly. I'm an independent and I love it. She's laughing all the way to the bank and the liberals can't sleep at night over this. Keep up the good work CNN. .

I am very proud to say that I'm one of those 700 who desperately believe that Sarah has the courage, tenacity and decency to run a principled, strong presidential run for 2012 if she so chooses. She is one of the few people who are willing to hold Obama accountable for his past, present and future goals for America. She is in direct opposition to his economic and energy plans i.e. cap and trade, etc. The worst bill for our businesses and taxes. 2004 "The cost of energy will skyrocket" (President Obama unfettered) What was and is he thinking? Talk about bizzare and erratic!!

Dutch/Bad Newz, VA   July 13th, 2009 3:36 pm ET

$730K in 6 months is chump change. She better hurry up an write her book if she wants to see the big bucks roll in as Levi suggested.

democratallmylife   July 13th, 2009 3:36 pm ET

The more you guys knock Palin the stronger she becomes. I even like Palin more now than I did and this is in large part due to the negative and unfair attacks by some people who claim they belong to the same party as I. I will take Palin at her word. She has not proven to anyone that she is not honest, so the speculation whirling around her is unfair. We democrats need to be careful. You may push on someone who will push back. Let Sarah Palin do whatever Sarah Palin wants and we should concentrate on supporting our current President and helping our country out of this mess.

Just politics as usual.

Well, I hope she enjoys it - it could be the last that is donated to a quitter -- honestly, to quit over having half a million dollars in a PAC fund ' because it's a lot of money for a small town Alaskan girl' - just shows how shallow she is. She no longer has the political clout she had as Governor - now she's just a little quitter.

She can raise the money becasue her base are rich white people which loves her dearly, but she needs more than her base and more the money to get her in the White House. She has no substance just looks.

But Palin, who has pledged to spend her days out of the governor's office supporting conservative candidates, has yet to dig deep into the coffers for many candidates AND THATS BECASUE SHE IS A LIAR AND WILL SAY ANY THING TO MAKE THE NEWS.

Ain't life strange?   July 13th, 2009 3:17 pm ET

Palin's decided to support Republican candidates yet she's only given 5 grand to the man who believed enough in her to appoint her as his running mate. Friends like that help to teach you how to pick friends. Every time I try to give Palin the benefit of doubt, she does something that makes me wonder about the kind of person she really is. I know... I'll probably be labled now as a Palin basher. Then, tell me this... what do you call a person running for office who stands by and listens to the hate, loathing and physical threats from her supporters and not tries to correct them? I certainly couldn't support that belief... how could anyone else? It's uncivilized.

Yeah but they ONLY gave her $5,000 of this PAC money. What's wrong with this picture? The only reason she raised that money was because of ALL the Ethics Complaints coming her way.

So, she has paid of her legal fees. Does that mean she is going to change her mind and "unresign" as Gov? Wouldn't surprise me in the least. The woman is a liar and a quitter. All I see is 730,000 reasons why it's still acceptable to hate someone who is of a different faith or of a different race than you in the United States of America.

Sarah Palin has proven to be nothing more than a spineless bigot who fed upon the fears and bigotry of her supporters. The fact that there are legions of people who live by her every word is a sad reflection of the nation's intellectual standing in the world.

"The former GOP vice presidential candidate's PAC further reported more than $450,000 cash on hand with no debts owed"

I was under the impression that she formed this SarahPAC to help her pay for her legal fees and other debts; now there are "no debts owed"? I missed something while on vacation....obviously.

Yet the ethics violations investigations keep rolling in. Some even from CONSERVATIVE watchdog groups.

Palin's political career is over, will never be a viable candidate again, yet the money is coming in. Looks like the recession is not effecting the Republicans. Also, they haven't bothered to come up with an alternative economic plan. So, it looks like they have nothing to complain about.

Palin sure does sell!!

I find it very very very funny that a Palin post will goo to 300 in minutes, 85% of people ripping on her. If you want her to go away, stop giving attention and CNN and others will stop giving her coverage. You just can't stop yourself though can you? :-)

God Bless America, her people and her President
