Kerry: Palin should check out 'the view from her front porch'

Sen. Kerry is defending the president's cap-and-trade energy plan against criticism by Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin.

Sen. Kerry is defending the president's cap-and-trade energy plan against criticism by Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin.

WASHINGTON (CNN) – Call it Kerry vs. Palin, Round 2.

Massachusetts Democrat Sen. John Kerry, a longtime Obama ally, and Alaska's Republican Gov. Sarah Palin are sparring again, this time over climate change and energy policy.

Kerry has taken to liberal Web site The Huffington Post to respond to an op-ed by Palin published Tuesday in the Washington Post.

In her op-ed, Palin slams President Obama's cap-and-trade energy plan, saying she believes the plan is "an enormous threat to our economy."

In his response, Kerry takes a dig at Palin in an apparent reference to Tina Fey's "I can see Russia from my house" take-off on Palin.

"The global climate change crisis threatens our economy and our national security in profound ways," writes Kerry.

"Governor Palin need no look further than the view from her front porch in Alaska to see how destructive this crisis can be," says Kerry, pointing to a two-year-old New York Times report about a small Alaskan village facing destruction because of melting permafrost.

Kerry also takes issue with Palin's focus on the likely economic consequences of Obama's plan. "Reading Gov. Palin's op-ed too often it sounds like the only threats America faces are solely economic. But that's not what our intelligence experts and military leaders tell us," writes Kerry.

Kerry also says Palin is "wrong" about the job creation projected to occur under Obama's plan and about the fact that the plan will yield "new, clean energy sources."

The two pols sparred nearly three weeks ago when Kerry reportedly joked that it was Palin – rather than South Carolina's Republican Gov. Mark Sanford – who should have gone missing. In her counter-attack, Palin took a swing at the senator's face: "... [T]he way he said it, he looked quite frustrated, and he looked so sad, and I just wanted to reach out to the TV and say, 'John Kerry, why the long face?'" she joked.

Hold everyone accountable. When my president says you don't have to read the bill just pass it–trust me–unemployment will not go over 8%–When it does he should be fired and every congressman that voted for the bill. They are either liars or incompetent.

    Kerry first abandonned Hillary.

    Now he is attacking Sarah.

He is a sexist under the cloak of a liberal.

Kerry is part of the "sky is falling" mentality promoted by Al Gore and the Evironuts, that will make Gore, GE/NBC, and the other carbon credit participants billions of dollars at the expense of hard working Americans. This is a gigantic con game-Palin is correct.

Senator Kerry's problem is he can only cough up the talking points. His knowledge of energy issues and global warming is based on little more than the party line he has to tout. Sarah Palin would clean his clock, in a debate on energy or global warming, yet he gets publicity because he's trashing Sarah Palin.

Argue the facts, man, argue the facts. If you can't argue the facts just keep it shut. Anyone associated with the 2004 election knows what a fool you are, don't continue to remind them by talking about things you have no clue about.

The argument about the danger of global warming is over! Palin just wants to sow seeds of doubt in the hope that nothing will be done to check the production of greenhouse gas emissions.

There are those like Palin who think solely in economic terms while the planet collapses around her. She can't think deeply enough to see the enormous benefits that will accrue from healing our home as well as the new jobs that will come on line. Environmental healing will be one of our greatest industries if we seize the opportunity.

It certainly is clear............ Obama and Kerry have nothing new to say except continuing to try and blow smoke......How about a new approach, say, like start drilling and relying on foreign oil. Why would we want to pay more for someone who is out to try and kill Americans. Drill, drill, drill.........come one, free yourselves and us.

Conservatives reject stem cell research, evolution, global climate change, and I suspect, the Law of Gravity. Why would anybody want to hear Silly Sarah talk about a technical subject? That would be like wanting to see Albert Einstein pole-dance.

People who think mankind is causing global warming, if in fact global warming is real, are uninformed and non- thinking people. They hear what the "Do Gooders" tell them and take it as fact.

There are a trillion times more "green house gases" emitted from the volcanos in one minute that cars, industry, etc. emit in ten thousand years.

These poor non-thinking people are like cows being led to be slaughtered and they are taking the reasonable with them. Sad, very sad.

Sarah Palin on the loose will show her true colors: reciting Republican talking points with no facts, winking, becoming angry at any perceived slight, courting the media before blaming them for her declining poll numbers. She will wear out her beauty pageant tricks very quickly once the very people she needs (independents and mainstream Republicans) start actually trying to decipher one of her speeches. At this rate, she won't even be around for the Iowa caucus...praise the Lord!

Crisis? It is a natural cycle and there is NOTHING we can do about it. Yes, recycleing and cutting use of natural resources is good for our air quality, but it will do nothing to stop a natural planetary cycle. Sorry Kerry/Al Gore, you are fired!

Sarah Palin hasn't been at her front porch in quite some time. She's been busy mooching off the GOP to further her "career".

We can do one of two things. If we protect our planet we will have a chance in the future. If we listen to Sarah Palin WE HAVE NO FUTURE!

No windmills for Kerry's state. They'll ruin the view. No solar plants in california. It'll upset the pelosi's mice. No proven energy resources or funding for green energy in the cap and trade, just rules and taxes to increase the cost of the energy we already use. Not one alternate energy source available before cutting off our present fuels. Another few nails in America's coffin brought to us by an out of control congress.

No need to call her Governor Palin Quitter Palin sounds better and truer to the point. As an Alaskan glad she can't do any more harm to our state after the 26th. She really has no concept of the world out of her sight.

Senator Kerry just can't articulate a decent argument for Cap and Trade, because there isn't one. This is a job and economy killer and they know it. They just cant tell us or we might not let them have thier socialist utopia. The line about other threats is a slight of hand move to take attention off cap and trade. Sarah Palin has made her position very clear on external threats to our security unlike the Democrats, whose position seems to be issue an apology for everything you can think of and hope they dont hurt us. Do they have the will to win in Afghanistan, it will be a long and hard campaign, the safety of our country depends on keeping Islamic fundamentalists from controlling safe havens, we will see.
