WASHINGTON (CNN) - Secretary of State Hillary Clinton delivers a major foreign policy speech and some Washington political observers ask: "Is she trying to get back in the spotlight?"
Since she slipped and broke her elbow last month, the secretary has had to cancel an international trip, and some inside-the-Beltway types are reading the tea leaves. Is it another step in the process of keeping Secretary Clinton from the real foreign policy decision-making in the Obama administration?
"The Daily Beast's" Tina Brown writes: "Left behind on major presidential trips, overruled in choosing her own staff - Hillary Clinton is the invisible woman at State."
"It's time for Barack Obama to let Hillary Clinton take off her burqa," she said.

What do you expect after her recent comments concerning the "messiah".
No. Hillary Clinton is doing a great job as Secretary of State, as I confidently knew she would.
Hillary is NOT a quitter–you betcha!
Isn't it obvious? Of COURSE she has been sidelined..... Obama is a typical left-wing dictator more interested in total and absolute power than anything else.
Obama wants to keep her from running against him in 2012 or undermining him in the Senate. What happens to her now is none of his concern, she basically done politically.
Hillary? Hillary who?
European-American,
I am an American, I don't use a hyphen – although I could. I have a question for you. Why do you insist that the President is the "messiah"? He has never referred to himself as one, nor do we refer to him as one.
Do you know something we don't know? For you to say that about him (Obamma) is discrediting the Messiah, Jesus of Naserath.
Have a great day!
What you dolts at CNN are just figuring this out now? How many "Special Envoy's" does it take for you to realize she is the Jr. Secretary of State.

Do you know something we don't know? By your own words, for you to say that about him (Obamma) you are the Messiah, Jesus of Naserath.
Have a great day!
She's not being sidelined. This is an all out offensive of diplomacy the world over the Obama Administration is tackling. Keep up the good work guys, & gal.
Well, she does have a broken elbow, did have surgery and is most likely going through some irritating PT....maybe the injury had more of an effect than we thought it would. Okham's Razor CNN. Stop digging for the most complicated explanation.
For the ignorant folk who keep comparing President Obama to Jesus, please stop. It's offensive to the Creator himself, and it's offensive to us as Christians. President Obama is a great man, but he is definitely not GOD. Nor do we Democrats see him as one. Yes, I am a Christian AND a Democrat. Folks will drum up just about anything to get this man out of the White House and pit these two against one another. Give it a rest. Hillary is her own woman and has proven that time and time again.
Hillary Clinton is an admirable, intelligent, strong and competent leader first and woman second. I have read all her books and even had the honor of meeting her. I hope that she is not being put on the sidelines intentionally.
The GOP could only wish that Sarah Palin was like Hillary Clinton.
no she has not been side lined the media just does not want to report on her they rather be fasinated with sara palin!!!!!!!!!!!!
post my comment CNN
Kevin in Ohio, you must be related to Joe the Plumber. No Hillary is doing what she does best which is why President Obama selected her for SOS. Unlike your leadership in the GOP who cut each others throats, the Dems seem to work together, something you so called conservatives should learn. And for the last time, Hillary is not running in 2012. She has made that clear. Furthermore, if the GOP can start coming up with a game plan for America instead of finding ways to try to tear President Obama down, you might have a cance in 2016. Oh yes, I typed 2016, you have no chance in 2012, no chance of regaining the Senate, House or the White House. You can thank George, Dick, John and Sarah for that. Oh and one more thing. Mr. President, I like you and all but would it be asking too much from you to fire the ball down the pike, you throw like a girl.

It's a little thing we do here in America that we call "sarcasm". Look it up.
She's preparing to run against Obama in 2012 when his popularity drops below 20 percent once his policies show America the type of change he promised. I wouldn't be surprised if, after seeing his dismal approval ratings by 2012, he pulls an LBJ and decides not to run.
Yes, because there's no room in the Obama administration for anyone close to being a centrist. Look what they're doing to the blue dogs.
Believe me, I never thought it was possible for me to refer to Hillary Clinton as a centrist – until recently.
Hey, since we are rapidly becoming the minority, of course we will use the hyphenation. I thought that's the way it should be done...... why should we be any different than the rest?
Really? Some media pundits? Don't you mean, your media pundits? She is running the state department. I don't think they could keep her out of the loop even if they tried. Just because she isn't doing anything that's newsworthy, doesn't mean she's being pushed out.
By the way, this isn't journalism, this is speculation. If CNN would stick to the basics they learned in journalism 101, you would beat Fixed Noise and MSNBC hands down. This sensationalism that you guys do to compete with those other stations is tarnishing your reputation. You wouldn't have people asking the rhetorical question "This is news?!?"
I'm still trying to understand how she got way up on the list to even be Obama's second choice for Secretary of State.
Now Connie...there's a qualified Secretary of State with original ideas and everything. She knew how to negotiate effectively and didn't give away the farm every time she visited a foreign country.
She's done just like Rev. Wright Obamas mentor of 20 years, Next will be Biden.
Mrs. Clinton........now I know you've heard.........."keep your friends close and keep you enemies closer". That's just what Obama did to you. He knows you could create him a lot of problems in 2012. And remember when Joe Biden was on Oprah and Mrs. Biden slipped and said that Obama gave her husband the choice between being Vice President or Secretary of State. You got the left overs Mrs. Clinton thanks to Obama and Biden.
Conspiracy! Conspiracy! Just what news outlets need to be spreading in these times...
Hillary!! Hillary!! Establish, and re-affirm yourself girl! You had my vote at the onset, I know you, you're a force to be reckoned with, and a woman with much to contribute.
You, Hillary, are no Sarah Pailin. If they're trying to put you in the 'kitchen' tell'em that you can do a lot of things but cooking ain't one of them.
Obama, and more importantly, your country need you, and your input. Don't let them sideline you.
Of course not, she was injured for pity sakes. She had to keep a low profile, once she 100% again, she will right back out there serving her constituents.
Unlike some woman we could name...
