Steele: 'Wait to see' what Palin does

RNC Chairman Michael Steele said Thursday that people in Washington should 'wait to see what she does.'

WASHINGTON (CNN) – Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele defended Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin's decision to step down from her post, saying Thursday that he admired her decision to "focus on her family," adding that the "brain trust here in Washington" should "wait to see what she does."

Steele also said that Palin is not a quitter and called that notion a "wonderful Democrat talking point."

"You have to take her at face value, why she made that decision when she did and then, let's wait to see what Sarah does next," Steele said in an interview with Wolf Blitzer on the Situation Room. "Then, that will begin to give you some idea of how that story will unfold. All the pontificating, stop it. Wait to see what she does."

Earlier in the month, the Republican National Committee Chairman suggested Palin's decision to leave the governor's mansion early was a sign she did not intend to run in 2012.

"Not having talked to the governor, I take 2012 off the table right now simply because given everything she's going through personally, dealing with the financial mess that all these ludicrous investigations have put her and Todd in, at the moment, I think she's trying to focus on getting her house in order, her personal house in order," he said.

Also in the interview Thursday, Steele said fixing the health care system is the first priority for Republicans, but continued his heavy criticism of President Obama's plan - declaring all Americans shouldn't get taxed more to pay for health care reform, but that the overall costs need to be lowered. Earlier in the day, the RNC launched a Web site also criticizing Obama's plan.

"We do not have to tax and spend our way to deal with the costs," Steele said. "With where in American history or anywhere have you saved money by spending more money?"

She quit as governor. How is that a talking point? Also, hasn't SarahPAC raised more than enough to pay for her legal fees?

Personally, I don't give a rat's ass what little miss what's-her-name is up to. She's just another loser in love with her own perceived celebrity. So flush her down the toilet, and let's move on, shall we?

I really don't care what she is going to do next other than it will give me something to laugh at in the faces of her few supporters.

I won't vote for Sarah Palin and anyone in their right mind should just move on from this lack of normal intelligence person who just won't go away and get into a good school and learn her ABC.

Michael Steel is another one that just need to go away. He has serious issues and he knows it. It is call not being very bright. He was given this job he has because the Republicans were in a bad way. They wanted a black to make the election in a better light but it didn't work so now he can go away for no one cares about him and what he is about which is nothing.

Palin must just be loving this!!! Everyone clamoring to see what she does. She's in the spotlight again and has been since she announced her resignation. You mark my word....before you know it there'll be some 300+ posts here.

People keep saying why is she always in the news, etc., that CNN should stop reporting on her....well, trust me...as long as they see people responding as they do on these posts, you will see more stories on her. You want it to stop....well, then quit posting on any headlines that are about her. Simple as that and then they will stop...because no one will care. But...that will never happen, people just "lap" up this crap.

I noticed some posts the other day on her and Levi Johnston and they were the only ones that had over 300 posts. Any other story on the "Political Ticker" had anywhere from 10 to 100 responses.

So....if people just stopped posting to any news concerning her...she probably would fade away....

  13. Palin was always a joke and will never rise above it

Palin's existence is irrelevant. Everyone should just move on and let that Godforsaken train wreck become history.

Somehow Steele and Palin appear to have alot in common – no one wants to listen to either one of them and they are born ramblers.

    Shut up Michael!!!

Michael - We HAVE "seen" what Palin has done since being nominated for VP:

    - Relentless engaged in politics of personal destruction
    - Failed to hold a press conference at all during the campaign
    - Failed to answer any substantive questions in her interviews and her debate with Biden
    - Paraded her family around at every event and speaking oppty, and referenced them constantly (Track and his "patriotism" and Bristol and her "abistence and values")
    - Then scolded the press and the American People for asking legitimate questions while trying to vet her, her background, and her statements.
    - Was loose with the truth about her positions and background
    - Showed a profound lack of interest in "governing' and doing the job she asked for, and was given by the people of Alaska...

    - Then, she QUIT...

  24. 4 and the door

With the reckless manner in which the Democratic administration and congress are executing their responsibilities, the question is not what Sarah Palin is going to do in 2012. I believe she will step forward as a breath of fresh air in Washington. The real question is who are the Democrats going to find to run? Obama has lost his appeal. Backpeddling the issues he will be facing will not win an election. He is out of his league and the results will be hard to hide from.
