The first new members enrolled in this plan should be the 535 members of the 2 houses of congress..if they have to enroll then and only then should everybody else have to participate..if it isn't good enough for the washington royalty why should we be force fed this boondoggle??

Obama is a Disaster   July 17th, 2009 10:32 pm ET

Obummer wants the US to become a sophisticated welfare state – like France. What a dope.

The power be with you   July 17th, 2009 10:31 pm ET

It's nice to hear that private companies are willing to cut costs, of course, they have to do it to keep on doing business. They'll stay alive and making money but not at the same rate as before that has put the country in financial jeopardy and of course their own. We had to come this far for businesses to cooperate, but at least they are cooperating for their own benefit and the country''s.

Obama only creates TAXES   July 17th, 2009 10:12 pm ET

Obama has created the worst unemployment since 1984, WHERE ARE THE JOBS OBAMA.

ALL OBAMA can do is RAISE TAXES,

Obama and Pelosi equals TAXES, and MORE TAXES.

Dave in Illinois   July 17th, 2009 10:06 pm ET

It's good to know that the President will head for Matha's Vineyard next soon for a well deserved vacation. He's got to rest up so he can continue to make impressive speeches full of empty promises on health care, the economy, the enviroment, unemployment, mortgage foreclosures, and many other important issues of the day.

Scott, Tucson   July 17th, 2009 9:45 pm ET

Odd that health care only became a crisis after Obama got into the WH.

David   July 17th, 2009 9:21 pm ET

President Obama. Get Healthcare Reform Done NOW! Trying to be bipartisan was a good 'thought', but republican square blocks will forever be stuck on their NO side.

Stuck supporting the Corporations who bought their political office.

We put You and Democrats in power with a purpose, and you must continue to roll forward to achieve what the American people are asking for.

There is too much more work to get done for the American people, to let lobbyist/republicans stand in the way.

D. Hanes   July 17th, 2009 9:14 pm ET

BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH

The more he talks , the more he lies.

What is the bloody rush with this healthcare.. why is he not letting anyone else look into it.

He is so busy trying to rush so many things thro... what;s the hurry.. Got to get it done before people realize what a fraud he is?

Kevin in Ohio   July 17th, 2009 9:03 pm ET

He's going to ram this ill-advised plan through no matter what most Americans think. He is sounding more and more like a dictator every day.

GGG   July 17th, 2009 9:02 pm ET

Obama ....ARE YOU and YOUR Administration going to use your own health care program that you are cramming down our throats??? ASK THAT CNN!!!!

Common Sense   July 17th, 2009 9:02 pm ET

The same old song and dance with no real details. It is apparent that he has not read the bill either. He is a great politician, just a poor leader.

Susie   July 17th, 2009 8:51 pm ET

And who the heCK cares. He has his millions now – and reaping more and daughter/wife/book deals – who really cares??? OH-NObama got what he wanted – DOLLARS – FAME!!!
America – Rue the Day!!

Paul   July 17th, 2009 8:47 pm ET

I agree with the Centrist Democrats and Republicans that there should be more compromise and more thought and planning on the health issue. If we do not compromise and take some additional time for this measure it will definately fail in both congress and in the economy. It seems that both Democrats and Republicans are interested in publicity and self service than service to the country. I am sure our founding fathers would not approve of our current self centered and childlike government.

Save America   July 17th, 2009 8:32 pm ET

You ONLY want to CONTROL health care in this country.
You are just a liar and you need to be impeached.
Take your thugs and go back to Chicago.
You bring nothing but disgrace to this country.

bozo the obama   July 17th, 2009 8:11 pm ET

Chancellor, give the people the same health care you have received and still get for all your life.

Henry Miller   July 17th, 2009 7:58 pm ET

Yeah, "unprecedented progress" in plans to rob working Americans to pay the medical bills of parasites who can't be bothered to pay their own bills.

T Mckinley   July 17th, 2009 7:51 pm ET

Has anyone seen the fraudenlent anti-health reform commercial in which a woman, claiming to be a Canadian citizen (speaking with a perfect AMERICAN accent), claims that she would be dead if she had not come to America to receive treatment for a brain tumor?

In this commercial, this "Canadian" (speaking with a perfect AMERICAN accent) claims that she would have to wait too long to be treated in Canada and speaks of how "awful" the Canadian health care system is.

I have had conversations with genuine English-speaking Canadians. I used to work for one. I know what English-speaking Canadians sound like. The women in this FARCE of a commercial is definately NOT a Canadian.

What are we going to see next, someone claiming to be a British or French citizen talking about how "bad" european health care systems are while speaking in a distinctly Bible-belt style southern drawl?

Does the anti-health care reform lobby really think we are THAT stupid?

mike, Seatle, Wa   July 17th, 2009 7:50 pm ET

Thats right lets rush another bill through congress since we all know how they turn out.

Neutralizer   July 17th, 2009 7:39 pm ET

" Think of the Democratic Party as what it really is: a criminal organization masquerading as a political party." – David Kahane

Is that you DON OBAMBI? Are ya makin' us an offer again we can't refuse like your PORKULUS BILL? Don Obambi what happen to the $20 BILLION to bailout homeowners? Another 2 million homes would be lose this year Don Obambi. Ya gotta check little Timmy, methinks he's pocketing all the dough.

David form WI   July 17th, 2009 7:26 pm ET

How much tax payer money will this cost in order to SAVE us money.

SLOW DOWN AND DO A GOOD JOB for the good of all Americans not just rush it through for the good of your reelection chances.

Of course it has to be done fast.
The 2010 mid terms are next year. We need those votes.

Oh yeah, politicians worried about their party and votes above the safety and security of the American people.

That would NEVER happen. (just ask the brave men and women at the CIA they will tell you it would NEVER happen)

Do it right or your party will suffer for many election cycles to come (you think the GOP reputation is in the dog house..... you will wish for such numbers if you mess this up and not be bipartisan)

annie s   July 17th, 2009 7:25 pm ET

I expect opposition from the Republicans – change and helping the 95% of the American people who aren't rich has never been their strong point – but I am sickened by the Blue Dog Democrats who are weakening the chances for real health care reform. This is a no brainer – health care costs are killing us and will eventually bankrupt the country. We MUST have a real reform with a public option to ensure coverage for all Americans and to create competition and drive down costs. I may be just one person, but I promise to fight against the reelection of ANY Democrat who screws this up.

Stop The Insurance Company Bureaucrats   July 17th, 2009 7:20 pm ET

Thank you, Mr. President.

Keep fighting. Don't let the republicans from aetna, blue shield and cigna stop you.

Jon   July 17th, 2009 7:19 pm ET

This plan is going to go down in flames and it deserves too, because we simply can't pay for it!Why does Obama want to rush this?

Proud to be an American   July 17th, 2009 7:16 pm ET

He must be getting nervous, he had to come out and tell us once again – how great he is and what a good job Washington is doing.

Did I detect a note of "bully-ing" in his speech???

Will the guy from the CBO suddenly be called 'confused' or will they say he's been 'acting strangely'. Will he be forced out of his job for speaking the truth? ( Remember the guy who spoke out on global warming? )

RealityKing   July 17th, 2009 7:14 pm ET

"I will not raise your taxes.., not one penny". -Obama 2008 campaign promise

Niki Birdsflight   July 17th, 2009 7:13 pm ET

That comment was for Sarah Palin.

annie for Palin   July 17th, 2009 7:13 pm ET

I assume if this disaster government rationed health care passes that obama and his family will be on it also.

Niki Birdsflight   July 17th, 2009 7:12 pm ET

Sound off ? What about vanish all together? That is what she really needs to do...stay home and nurse her Down Syndrome or maybe do a reality show for the disabled.

ib   July 17th, 2009 7:10 pm ET

The only thing King Obama has done is to sink this country in uncontrolled spending. This plan needs to be DOA period. Our country can't afford this pork barrell spending.

Thin is in?   July 17th, 2009 7:04 pm ET

He just needs to shut up and quit lying to us and instead of delegating authority to others like this coward likes to do, COME UP WITH A PLAN with details that will not bankrupt us for years to come.

The CBO came out and debunked everything this fraud and his pack of liars ar saying and the CBO guy is not some Republican, he is a smart, unbiased judge (as is the CBO group) and he was put in place BY DEMOCRATS.

I applaud the Democrats with a working cerebrum who unlike this fraud have some fortitude by asking questions, talking to liberal Republicans and trying to come up with OTHER ideas in a bipartisan way.

He wants this shoved down for one reason only, his numbers are going down and he needs to hoodwink us AGAIN ( see Porkulus and Crap and trade).
This coward talks it (with a teleprompter), but doesn't walk it one bit.

The Party of NO stood calmly by for 8 year while the shrub raped and pillaged America, so, why would we listen to you now?   July 17th, 2009 6:59 pm ET

The AMA, American Medical Association, the largest association of medical professionals, has ENDORSED the House version of the health reform bill, INCLUDING the public option.

Since limbaugh lemmings are only capable of brain stem activity, scurry back to lush for your new set of talking points.

Bryan   July 17th, 2009 6:55 pm ET

Like everything else he does, Obama is attempting to push meaningless legislation through congress merely to make himself look good. "Look! I passed healthcare... Never mind that it doesn't really help anyone."

Barry   July 17th, 2009 6:52 pm ET

What did he say? That all of us are going to have to give a little skin in order to make him shine to the minority. Its time this spend and tax tyrant is removed from office.

Zero.   July 17th, 2009 6:52 pm ET

So Paraniod with power. So week at showing his inferior complex.
It says it all when he was so scared of Hillay, he picked Old Biden as #2. A little Boy with a new toy: but at your expense..

John   July 17th, 2009 6:51 pm ET

America, wake up, this health plan has to be stopped. We can't afford it at this time of economic recession and it is not the right plan for our country.

This man is absolutely not to be believed. He is an expert at bait and switch. Saying one thing while doing something else. He has lost all credibility. Whiy does he have to have his face on the tube 2 to 6 times a day?

get 'em pres   July 17th, 2009 6:40 pm ET

we need an over haul of the health system

don't give up, craft a good system with congress

Fla.   July 17th, 2009 6:36 pm ET

President Obama is truly working for the American people. Intelligence, courage, respect, and compassion are all great qualities in a his leadership IMHO.

He understands these healthcare reforms are needed once and for all.

johnnie   July 17th, 2009 6:34 pm ET

CNN you can say all you want about POLL numbers ,about the president ,which are (BOGUS) it wil not stop him for getting HEALTH CARE REFORM, good try , YOU LOSE AGAIN. There will be new poll numbers out next week ,after his national press conference, and WATCH those poll numbers (SOAR) I Predict that....

Roger from CA   July 17th, 2009 6:30 pm ET

Respectfully, Mr. President: It is SO important that real health care reform happen. Please don't reject out of hand taxation of health care benefits. It will personally hit me, but the greater good is that costs may get reduced and a more solid, universal health care system will result. In the long run, even those like me who will lose the tax deduction will come out ahead.
