First on the CNN Ticker: DNC blasts senator in new ad

The DNC is taking aim at DeMint's comments.

The DNC is taking aim at DeMint's comments.

WASHINGTON (CNN) – The Democratic National Committee is blasting Sen. Jim DeMint for his comments about President Obama’s health care plan in a new television ad that will begin airing Thursday here in the nation’s capital and in South Carolina.

Speaking on the issue of health care, the South Carolina Republican recently said "if we're able to stop Obama on this, it will be his Waterloo.”

DeMint immediately came under fire from the president’s supporters and now the DNC has cut a 30 second TV ad against the South Carolina Republican. DNC spokesman Brad Woodhouse would not specifically say how much the DNC was spending on the ad, but did offer it was in the “five figures range” and that it would air in the Columbia, Greenville and D.C. markets.

DNC would be a lot cooler if they played the Lady Gaga song in the background of this ad....

Well, well, well. I have to say I am not surprised. This part of the GOP is more interested in stopping Obama than in helping our nation solve the healthcare problem. Not all Republicans are wired that way though. I am happy to say that my Senator in Maine Olympia Snowe will be supporting the public option. Not to score points or to further her own career but just because it is the best thing for us, her constituents. And I bet she will take a lot of small minded flack for it.

The GOP doesn't care about your health, whether you live or die, all they want is for the President to FAIL.....and if that means taking all of American down too then they wouldn't care.......they are all about their Party and themselves, the rich.....the hell with the rest of us........

"if we're able to stop Obama on this, it will be his Waterloo.”

And that is why they oppose Obama on pretty much everything. The party that put us in the poor house, and the party that does the bidding only of corporate american (which includes the insurance and pharmaceutical companies), opposes Obama because if he can reform Healthcare, it will work. And it will ensure a Democratic majority for years.

THAT is what the Republicans are fighting against.

I can't fathom how so many Americans are so easily frightened away from this vital reform.

The Republican Party is the worst thing that ever happened to this country.

"Obama's health care plan mirror Clinton's '94 failure?"

Case in point (re: my last post). Health care reform is the GOP's political viagra...I mean, these guys are doing everything they can to make sure that the answer to CNN's stilted question above is a resounding "yes" (despite all the contra-indicative facts) because they see it as an opportunity to pull a Congressional coup similar to what they managed in 1994. This is why we hear so many of them regurgitating wishful thinking about 2010. That's ok though...we all know they've got a psychotic need to ignore reality when it doesn't fit what they would rather be the reality, i.e., their broken ideological daydream.

Tom the GOP is effectively handcuffed. Your party has total control so they really cannot do anything other than voice dissent. They can and do present opposition proposals but it is kind of like selling to a customer who buys everything from his brother-n-law. So your man Obama has control with effectively no break to stop him.

Just as i've said in previous posts, the GOP are more focused on themselves rather than the people. Simple as that!
Oh really? And what about Obama's reaction to the possible defeat of his health care bill? His reaction wasn't concern for the people with no health insurance or for the downtrodden. It was "this could ruin my presidency". I would say that tells me he is "more focused on himself rather than the people".

"if we're able to stop Obama on this, it will be his Waterloo.”

i think this should really prove to anybody ,that hasnt been convinced already (which is amazing to me if you havent figured this out yet), that the republicans could care less if obama is trying to help the people or not its about BEATING him and getting back in power. thats ALL their platform is about. meanwhile the country is falling apart. and there are people that believe the GOP no matter what. its so sad.

Not interested in the people of the USA – particularly the 46,000,000 people with no health insurance.
Only interested in getting back the POWER!

How incredibly Republican! The truth is out!

It will be Obama's Waterloo in terms of his far left policy agenda. If Obama cared to govern from the center, he would find far more success in getting health care reform and other policies passed.
Obama has exposed himself as a far left liberal. This is news only to those who were fooled by his campain. He has always governed as a far left liberal.
The American people lean center right. Obama is wasting his breath with speeches anymore where he tries to sound centerist. His policy does not match his speech.
Unless he stands up to Pelosi and her gang and stands with the more moderate Blue Dogs, Obama is in for a very long 4 years, and then will be done. Republicans will make gains in the House and Senate in 2010, maybe even take the Senate back. Obama will lose in 2012 if he stays to the far left.

Republicans keep saying that we have the best health care system in the world. They are lying. Have we already forgotten that the entire world economy collapsed under their guidance. Why are they given a voice at all?

Obama's health care reform is NOT socialized medicine. It's not Socialism. Socialized medicine is defined as; health care with a centralized locus of control. health care reform with the public government option while still having your option is NOT socialism. This is a neurotic argument brought about by Republicans and the South because they're paid off by private Insurance industry Lobbyists.....and because they're scared public option Government insurance for American's will deny excluding policies to anyone with a pre-existing condition...this scares the private health insurance industry they'll lose business. Well....they should be scared. Get ready !!! They have been responsible for many bankruptcies and denial of coverage for thhose who've already paid for their policies.
