DNC to launch new ad blasting health plan opponents

The DNC will launch a new TV ad Friday taking aim at Republican critics of President Obama's health care reform plan.

WASHINGTON (CNN) – The Democratic National Committee is launching a new TV ad Friday that takes aim at GOP critics of President Obama's health care reform plan.

"What's the cost of not reforming health care?" asks the narrator in the 30-second spot. "Premiums rising faster than your paycheck. Insurance companies dictating more and more medical decisions. Denying you coverage while their profits soar."

"Tell Republicans the cost of doing nothing on health care is just too high," continues the narrator, as pictures of Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele, South Carolina Sens. Jim DeMint and Lindsey Graham, and conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh flash on-screen.

It's the second DNC ad in a week to treat DeMint as a major target, based on his comment that the failure of a Democratic health care reform plan would "break" the president.

The ad buy, which will run on cable television nationally and in Washington, DC, will be a minimal buy, running in the tens of thousands of dollars, according to a DNC source.

Full script after the jump

What's the cost of not reforming health care?

Premiums rising faster than your paycheck.

Insurance companies dictating more and more medical decisions.

Denying you coverage while their profits soar.

The cost of doing nothing means rising co-pays and out-of-pocket expenses. Families faced with paying the mortgage or paying for health care.

But some leading Republicans, playing politics, have vowed to kill reform.

Tell Republicans the cost of doing nothing on health care is just too high.

Michael Steele is TOTALLY RIGHT and TOTALLY AWESOME!

Democrats will screw this country up if left unchecked. Steele is just the man to do it.

I think Pres. Obama's comment about the Cambridge policeman's actions were stupid. Since he has no first hand knowledge about the incident, he should refrain from making a comment and leave it to the Cambridge Police dept to determine whether Prof. Gates' allegations are true. To hint that this matter was racially motivated was appalling, but given the fact that Pres. Obama sat in the pew and listen to racist Rev. Jeremiah Wright's comments for near 20 years, I shouldn't be so surprised. Unfortunately, racists and bigots come in all colors and sizes!

Oh this is rich! Democrats complaining about the cost of "doing nothing" is "too high." How about the TRILLION DOLLARS in ADDITIONAL DEBT that these liberals want to pile on the American taxpayer!!

Sorry...I don't think Americans need to be paying more money for less adequate service. Try again. Or better yet, DON'T.

Ryan Indy – 'swifboat' reminds you of anything? And by the way 'And his followers are pathetic small hateful people that follow blindly their Master'... coming from a guy that probably voted for that couple last year, you know the ones with the hate filled rallies (with threats and racist insult shouted at their opponent) and that beautiful 'More American' line?, is quite funny... NOT.
Matt – Everybody is slandering everybody, don't act like you are from the side of the angels and who is against you is from 'The Dark Side of the Force'. And don't you read the news? After some constructive criticism from CBO and Blue Dogs Democrats, the President sees no problem in 'fixing' the bill, of course he and those who support him are going to show their points very clear, but they are open to a REAL debate about the bill.

My suggestion is to create a model organization headed by business men and health care professionals, get the government into the business providing health care and create HIBS (Health Insurance Backed Securities) and trade it on wall street with annual returns.

Those greedy old white men will sign up ASAP and watch the stock market go into frenzy.

The beauty is in the business process and watch the insurance companies and health providers run scared; I'll tell the secret on the profit model based on individual points/xteristics of the product pool for health provision.

I don't see GOP or DNC having a problem with this one, however there must be strong government regulation to avoid the freddie mac and fannie syndrome.

    Just an opinion.

Randy, Indy: When has the President made this issue personal? The Republicans are another story. When you have Mr. Demint publically voicing that he wants health care fail "to break Obama and make it his waterloo." And the President is making it personal? Like he said, he has the best health care around. Heathcare is an American isssue, not just black, white, brown, young or old. Even if a plan is passed by August no one is writing a trillion dollar check the next day. Every one needs to take a breath and calm down, stop voting against their own interests. I bet people were up in arms about Social Security and Medicaid when it was first proposed, now retirees can't live without it.

The dems need to get a pair that includes Nancy Pelosi. The GOP had there turn to do all these wonderful things for the country. Yet they chose to give big business the tax breaks they wanted and Bush drove up record deficits, did the american people and the GOP forget these things.

They lined there pocket at working american expense and cost are still being past on to us. Where was the job creation under Bush?

Yes he's gone but his disgusting legacy will haunt us for years to come. The party of no wants us all poor and beaten down it used to be totally a race thing now its just plan old GREED ... immoral patriots = GOP. Run the heck over them "PRESIDENT!!!! Obama"

It Obama has to work this hard to sell the stuff no doubt it must not be what most Americans want. Not real hard to understand, just seems hard for Obama to get.

How about the Dems be honest for once and SIT DOWN with the GOP and work this out. Truth is the president is a liar and contrary to what he campaigned, he has no desire to work with the GOP.

This country has been bought and sold to the extreme radicals on teh left and we close to being destroyed. The cost of this bill is outrageous and no one except a few in the GOP party are speaking up.

BTW, some one please explain to George Soros and the DNC that Rush Limbaugh is a radio talk show host and not an elected leader.

One last point, as a registered independent I am really SICK of these comments of hate from both sides. Your rants are anti-american regardless of your party. GROW UP.

Why would you spend your time blasting people who are concerned about this plan? The DNC should be working on a plan that benefits the working people of America. If they did this, maybe, just maybe those who prefer to loaf all of their lives would see another jewel they should be working for.

The cost of doing nothing may be high; but the cost of implementing the OBama plan bankrupts the nation....however, the republicans have submitted numerous plans, and because they don't meet the radicalism of Obama and Pelosi, meaning they don't give away the farm to minorities, they are smothered in liberal ooze.....the DNC should shut up and go home like Congress will; without a crippling bill for the country.

Um some of you naysayers about Republicans obviously are not keeping up with the news. It is Democrats that have joined the Republicans in saying No to this ridiculous bill that Queen Pelosi and King Obama is trying to ram down our throats. You guys have no argument and are grasping at straws to keep blaming the Republicans. Look at some of your post on people who are Democrats and are saying No to this bill. Republicans have NEVER said they don't want health reform, they don't want Obama's health reform.

Dan, MI – Just how do you equate covering 98% of people with "rationing" health care?! Health care is rationed now, by the thieving insurance companies who deny, deny, deny in order to maintain their fat profit margins.

What is going on with the community organizer. You know that he is smart enough to realize that the GOP cannot block this Government takeover of health care. They don't have the votes. He knows and keeps beating the drum. It's his own party that has 52 members that actually have a brain and are afraid to go home and face the people, if they vote for this boondoggle. Mr. President, be truthful for once.

    @ chuksis –

Where have you been? Living under a rock? The liberal ratings are plunging into the abyss...why? Because the American people, (the real, hardworking ones, not the liberal entitlement hounds) have woke up and aren't taking this facade anymore. If you think the GOP's in for a surprise....you've been watching too many primetime Obama infomerical....his racket is similar to neighborhood thug extortion...only this time, the neighbors are getting fed up much sooner...Transparency? Hope ? Change? hahaha..give me a break. Obama's a thug street activist, at best.

The GOP has a PERSONAL not political opposition to Obama. It is out of control. They would rather see the people of this country suffer than have ANYTHING Obama does succeed! I hope this kills the GOP!
