Palin's second picnic draws supporters, few dissenters

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin visits hometown of Wasilla two days before stepping down from her post.
Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin visits hometown of Wasilla two days before stepping down from her post.

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (CNN) - Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin was met with a fairly warm reception at a picnic in Anchorage on Saturday, a day before she steps down as the state's governor.

Supporters displayed signs, including "Palin 2012" and "Palin, you're as great as Alaska." The few dissenters in the crowd said they wanted to come down and see what the hoopla was about.

Palin and Lt. Gov Sean Parnell, who will replace her, passed out burgers and hot dogs at the food line. Media and the crowd were kept at a distance, and were often pushed back by security officers and Palin's personal handlers.

The governor will transfer gubernatorial power to Parnell in Fairbanks on Sunday.

Ms Palin's 15 minutes are way over. Once she quits, can we stop with the daily coverage of her? Please?

    CNN. who cares?
This woman QUIT, leaving her state in shambles.
This woman put financial, personal and political gain over
the welfare of the people of her state.
She is a self serving, egotistical, incapable wannabe and will
self destruct, as someone as phony as she is will mess up
    big time.

very nice indeed; but perhaps she could look into the "Select" group of security contractors now being considered for Afganastan..as always with government proposals like this , someone needs to follow the money; her recent retoric proves she is capable of doing a great job. we have a suggestion to her, if she needs good old fashion hard nosed, no holes barred lingo, ask Carol Rosenberg to look into the preferred contractors list, and then follow the money..the American people have a right to know now, not after an incident..

Palin will be more popular than Obama in another year. CNN's majority that don't approve of Palin consists of 900 people. LOL

No one ever went broke over-estimating the stupidity of the buying public. I hope she's the first but I have a feeling that she has staying power beyond my comprehension. I can't believe her 15 minutes aren't up yet. But then I don't find her charming or even amusing.

Palin does care about the Politics she is enjoying the fact that people come out to see her!! SP will not run for President, she just likes the attention the media gives her – but she will bash you guys as soon as facts are checked against her gibberish.

This chick is just plain nuts. Period.

Wasn't she elected by the People to serve a full term? Where does she get the right to decide to Quit? Even if she knew she would not seek re-election is not an excuse. It should have been even more of an incentive to serve those who voted her in to the "very best of her ability." Granted that's what she lacks but the People chose her.

Palin just needs to go away. I'm tired of seeing her on news coverage.

As far as her being any serious contender for other political offices that is one of the funniest things I've ever heard.

Serioulsy, how can anyone support her run in 2012 if she couldn't even finish her term as a governor in a state with the fewest number of residents?

In her first 16 months as Governor, Sarah Palin delivered on all her promises to the people of Alaska. Time for her to move onwards and upwards. Alaska's loss is America's gain.

  16. you would really have to hate her to boo her at her retirement picnic

she is annoying, but I would hope the public would wish her well at a retirement picnic

I wish her well, just not in politics, unless she will run for president, there is no comic relief like a Palin story over coffee in the morning

ABC/WaPo poll is one poll. It is contradicted by nearly every other poll, such as those by Pew, Rasmussan, Gallup and Public policy Polling. Generally these polls show Palin's favourability/unfavourability ratings at 47/46, 47/45, 43/45 and 47/45 respectively. These are now not far from Rasmussan's approval/disapproval rating of Obama at 49/51.

The Obama-lovers should be reminded that according to recent polls his approval ratings are only 8% higher than Palin's.

This should be an eye-opener for the Palin-phobics as she has been savaged by Dems and the media like no one before and yet remains within striking distance of Obama. Unbelievable. Really unbelievable.

Good-riddance Sarah ("ELVIRA") - Sarah's "Shout-out" on the "COLBERT REPORT", in June, where her hair-extensions were well below her breasts said-it-all about what a NUT-JOB she really is... talk about playing sexist to young men serving our country...she is one SICKO!

The more the loony left and the state-controlled media screams and engages in juvenile name calling and personal destruction tactics about Palin, the more you know they truly fear her and that she is connecting...

Otherwise, why bother? I don't see any of this for, say Huckabee!

Most people that don't like someone don't go to their functions.

Get real CNN. You expect folks that dislike her to waste their time? She's done. She's a quitter. Most people don't like quitters.
