Huckabee trails Romney, Palin in cash haul

Mike Huckabee trails Sarah Palin and Mitt Romney in fundraising through the first half of 2009.
Mike Huckabee trails Sarah Palin and Mitt Romney in fundraising through the first half of 2009.

(CNN) - Recent polls show he is among the early frontrunners for the 2012 GOP presidential bid, but when it comes to fundraising this year, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee trails well behind his chief rivals.

The former Republican presidential candidate e-mailed supporters Thursday night announcing he has raised a little over $300,000 in the first six months of the year, a cash haul that is only about 20 percent of the $1.6 million former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney took in the same period.

It's also about a third of what former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin has raised since January. Her political action committee, SarahPAC, reported raising $730,000 through July 1, but a spokeswoman for Palin said the Alaska Republican took in an additional $200,000 in the early days of July after announcing she was stepping down as governor.

Several recent surveys - including one from CNN/Opinion Research Corp. – show Huckabee is roughly tied with Palin and Romney in an early assessment of where the 2012 Republican presidential race stands.

The worse the economy gets, the better Obama will look. Nothing in Obama's plan for the US is good for the economy so he needs to start attacking Romney now if he wants to have a shot at being re-elected.

Romney revealed, recently, that he can reap the benefits of bein' a reasonable repub. Pawlenty, on the other hand, pursues a path of pugnacity while attackin' the Dems just for the sake of polarizin. Palin and Huckabee are, probably, non-entities, in our opinion.

ALL THREE OF THESE PEOPLE PUT TOGETHER CAN NOT MEASURE UP TO PRESIDENT OBAMA.

You would think the Repuke's would have swictched the brand up a bit, you know, like switching to people who have inclusive visions. It's time to start doing what the people need done. The behind the scenes Jim Crow that exist on the upper levels of society are not working for us regular folks. Us regular folks are starting to be able to get along with each other and it's time for the upper ranks of society to follow suit with us.

Obama for 2012 and Clinton for 2016

Sarah Palin could one day actually be the President of the United States.....Why?

Because in America there are enough people who will never travel within 10 miles of their place of birth, enough people who don't have a passport, enough people who believe that all Muslims are terrorists, enough people who believe in the notion of a 'Real America' that excludes all those of a different race, religion and who possess an advanced education, enough people who justify their racial and religious bigotry by hiding behind and American bastardization of European Christianity, and enough people who believe that the United States is the center of the world and that Jesus Christ was an American…to vote for her.

But she had better win within the next 25-30 years or so...because after that, those listed above will be a small insignificant minority in the Unites States of America.

Yeah, and Romney spent the most in '08, but McCain won. Romney outspent Huck in Iowa 20 to 1 but Huck won. Money doesn't trump volunteers or pure communication skills, charisma, and authenticity. Hillary was the DNC Machine after '04 but look how far that got her. We can learn a lot from Obama and that is organization matters, and grassroot support means more than a few guys writing out huge checks. Romney gets all his money from a few rich donars and about 12% comes from small donors. Huckabee gets about 48% from small donors. If we learned anything from '08, political money machines do not win, enthusiasm does.

A preacher, a failed governor, and the best of the lot is probably Romney who doesn't stand a chance because of his religion. America will not elect a Mormon.
The party has shifted so far to the right as to be Fascist and the current leadership is nothing but negative.

They didn't win before, and I don't think they can win this coming time in 2012. Palin can be labeled as a quiter and an ideologue. Romney's conserative credentials were questionable then, and they will be again. Huckabee wasn't much better. In 2008 the captivated the attention of an entire nation with her magnetic personality and folksy charm. Now she has moved on to a higher calling with the support of an adoring public. She may not be the favorite of the establishment elites but she sure has made a connection to the common working person. There is no doubt she is the frontrunner for 2012 and now she can travel nationwide to strengthen her political support even more. America is in love with Sarah Palin and can't wait to see her next move.

Mitt Romney is quality and gets what is needed to get our country back. I can't see anyone debating the young-n P. Obama better than Mitt Romney..We need maturity and experience...Someone who knows how to read a balance sheet and knows how to reach the American Dream on HIS own dime .Mitt is proven and true. I want a proven entity, not oh, perhaps this person will develop into a great entity. Like for example...Obama will move to the center...NOT!! Most liberal President in the history of this country. I wish people would stop the attacks, Mitt was vetted pretty hastily in all areas in 2008...and he is by the way MORALLY sound....Romney 2012....

Palin cannot be serious about running for president. I don't care what people say by 2012, SHE COULD LOSE TO A DEMOCRAT FOR THE REPUBLICAN NOMINATION! Please stop bringing her into the new CNN

It's a "cash haul" when a Republican raises funds, but a "war chest" when a Democrat does exactly the same thing. One could not expect anything less from CNN's unfair and unbalanced version of "journalism"!

For a right-wing conservative Republican, Huckabee isn't that bad, but he doesn't have a chance to win the GOP nomination in 2012.

Palin has the star power and she is a big hit with evangelicals, who were Huckabee's biggest supporters in 2008. In other words, he can't even count on the people who voted for him last time.

Romney has the money and the support of every Republican who is terrified of Palin and wants to keep her from hijacking the party. He beat Huckabee last time, no reason to think he couldn't do it again.

    Huckabee is an afterthought.

Giving money to any of those three is like flushing it down the toilet. Once the birthers get their word out to every voter, the GOP will go the way of the Whigs. The Republican party is the party of uneducated, racist lunatics.

Perhaps this is more a reflection on the type of support he enjoys. It occurs to me that, perhaps, Huckabee has a stronger following among lower income Republicans. They can't afford to support their candidate like the other supporters can. Romney, on the other hand, is big among those in the upper income levels. Palin – well, I just don't understand who is supporting Palin or why.

Huckabee, Palin, Romney, Newt, and Pawlenty is all the Repubicans have for 2012 then it will be a sure win for President Obama. It doesn't matter which one win the GOP Presidental Nominee becasuse none of them appeal to Indenpentent are moderates.

I am sick of seeing Sarah Palin's face or hearing any of her moron comments. CNN, when are you going to start paying attention to the comments you get...most Americans are sick of this woman and don't take anything she says seriously. Did the DNC pay you to put these three losers pictures up here?! If this is all the Republicans have to offer America going forward then more and more life long Republicans are going to continue to jump off a sinking vessel. We just finished 8 years of undereducated moronic leadership and look where that got us!

The sad thing is though I would've vote for any of them.. I like Huckabee the most out of all of them.

Romney completely changes his views on everything constantly, and Palin isn't intelligent or coherent enough to actually have a solid view on anything. At least Huckabee, though I don't agree with his views most of the time, is solid, and actually seems like a genuine good guy.

Can't wait till 2010, when the American people begin to get their country back.

And 2012 when Socialist loses in a landslide to anyone from the Republican party.

Happy days will be back in 2010 and 2012. Let's just hope Barack the Destroyer of Capitalism doesn't bankrupt us first with massives spending programs and equally massive tax increases.

Hey Republicans...what about your mantra and absolute belief of people not looking for hand outs? I mean you go on and on about how some people have to WORK for their money rather then BEG and PLEAD for a hand out. Here's a story about your party LEADERS seeking HAND OUTS. Throwing all their speeches into the trash bin and adopting a "Just give me money, because I won't do it for myself" stance.

Republicans: Always mooching off the real workers and then pretending they don't.

    Got Hypocrisy?

Any one of the three would be a terribly frightening prospect as president to anyone who isn't a devotely Christian, anti-science, anti-equal rights, ultra Conservative.

If Palin doesn't stop canceling her speaking engagements (like the most recent one in Calif.) she will not only ruin her chances of bringing in the money she needs but even the Republicans that she seems to think she can help out by going out on the campaign trail and give speeches for them and help raise money for the GOP, they aren't going to want this loose canon anywhere near them......

Obama would lovvvve to run against Mike Huckabee. Or Sarah Palin. Either one will do. Romney, on the other hand, is way to competent, articulate, intelligent, accomplished and fleet-of-foot for Obama to handle, even with his dual teleprompters.

Don't worry though, CNN, I'm sure the Republicans will botch their 2010 primary just like they did their 2008.

must be hard for Huckabee. he is the lesser of the 3 evils, but he still trails a flip-flopper that uses his well-coiffed hair like a political weathervane and a vindictive and inarticulate quitter.

Now if the Democrats could just get out of their own way they actually have a chance at staying in power.

People giving money to Palin are wasting it. She will never be president of this country and if she is, say goodbye to the USA because she will destroy it with her stupidity. How could anyone think someone like her is capable of running this country when she couldn't even run her own state? She is a quitter and every time the going gets tough, she quits. She is such a loser!

HUCKABEE! Does the United States of America really want a guy who thinks the earth is 6,000 years old. A former Baptist preacher? A man on a mission from God. Wasn't Bush on a mission from God? Perhaps we could change the presidency to the Supreme Ruler and be like every other lunatic country that has a religious leader in charge. Perhaps he could wash away the sin of Cain from Obama or was that Abel?

Sarah Palin needs to do us all a favor and go away! She is not smart enough to be a customer service rep, let alone The President. Are the choices that awful in Alaska that the people there had no other choice but to vote for her? People wake up, Sarah is not good enough to lead our country! Do I feel that she would do much worse than Bush did.... U Betcha!!!

None of these candidates is viable. Mitt Romney is a flip flopper and he's rich enough to finance his own campaign. Sarah Palin is a quitter and obviously doesn't have the equipment to lead. Mike Huckabee is too closely associated with the religious right. GOP, you'd better come up with something better than this by 2012 if you hope to run a serious race.

I'm a Democrat, and if I had to pick among these three for President of my beloved USA, I'd pick Mike Huckabee in a heartbeat! He is a genuine guy whom I trust deeply. I'd like to make Mike see the errors of his ways, and become a Democrat. Now of course I'm aware that my comments might be seen as the kiss of death for poor Mike, but please, I do mean them. He's a great person, and I really, really, like and respect him. I can't say the same for the other two...
