Palin gives 'stirring' gun rights speech at NRA dinner, says group

Palin's fans have been clamoring for her to re-launch her Twitter feed.

(CNN) - She’s gone Twitter-silent since leaving office last week – but former Alaska governor Sarah Palin has spoken out publicly for the first time since her resignation, according to the nation’s largest gun rights group.

Palin addressed a National Rifle Association dinner in Anchorage Saturday, the group reported on its blog. The NRA did not reveal the content of her remarks, but described them as “a stirring speech on 2nd Amendment rights.” Reporters were not invited to observe the event.

The former Republican vice presidential candidate was also given lifetime memberships in several local gun clubs, and the NRA’s Gold Medal Award of Merit for the Promotion of Gun Collecting.

Palin has not yet given a media interview since leaving officen and has yet to re-launch her Twitter feed after leaving her goubernatorial account behind. Last week, her spokeswoman said that she had never committed to, and would not be attending, a GOP event at the Reagan library at which organizers had expected her to appear.

Sure let's encourage the Gun-culture of the U.S. even more! The U.S. already has the highest gun related deaths rate of any first World country.......... let's continue to kill each other!

This CNN ticker is about 80% McCain-Palin. How bad does a party have to lose before it moves to the background of news reporting and talk shows? They should not get equal time, as they are now a small minority.

Let me understand this headline...Sarah Palin broke "her silence?" The woman doesn't stop speaking with food in her mouth, or when asleep. If she ever goes silent, someone should check her pulse.

Here's a probable example of her speech –

I'd like to thank the real Americans for inviting me here to also, speak on the threat of domestic terrorists taking away our guns' rights (yeah, I mean the GUNS' rights) as well as our right to shoot the moose that roam through our towns also, it creates jobs so our american soldiers can defend our rights of free speech, also, it keeps our taxes down and keeps the government from butting into our private parts because it simulates the economy too, as well, as allowing for a cap and trade limit on our rights to speak our minds with our free speach so thank an american soldier with your gun.

I look forward to the day we never have to hear from this woman again, what an embarrassment to women....

I admit she's nice looking, but beyond that, she's clueless and extremely fake..!

Good for her on the life memberships! Now maybe she'll focus on that and leave that whole "Politics Thingy" to the professionals.

Who cares if this twit tweets? I can't believe that the we will now have to watch and hear about every thoughtless and ignorant thing this egomaniac says and does. i wish the media would police itself at least to the minimum degree of screening out complete bilge. But I guess that is why it is called media not journalism.

Palin talks like a 'novice' gansta shoots .... her words bounce all over the place, none of which hits the mark, nor makes any sense! The woman has been a joke from day one. She should spend less time traveling, giving speeches, and rallying the 'troops' .... stay home and care for her children!

Silence is golden, Sarah! Please give us more. Go home and take care of your kids. They certainly need a mother more than this country needs your complaining that they have been mistreated by the media. How about they get some kind of mothering from you in person and not via the cellphone or e'mail.

BREAKING NEWS! Sarah Palin has broken her one whole week of silence. Let's report it, and keep her non-news worthy speeches a priority for CNN.

She has to go away and stay in Alaska. she does not need to be in 2012. She should join a former vice president Cheney for the gun club.

And just how does someone who seems to only know how to babble and use catch phrases give “a stirring speech on 2nd Amendment rights.” I don't mean to imply that she isn't intelligent when I say, I don't think she knows whats she is saying. It truely seems that during most speaches, she is reading a teleprompter blindly, with no clue as to what she is saying verbally.

i have no issue with people having the right to bear arms..

i do have issue with those who claim to be literal constitutional interpretists.... if you wish to literally interpret the constitution as it was written, then you must take the mindset of when it was written, thus the forefathers could have only meant the arms to be what was availble when they wrote the constitution... muskets and other 18th century weaponry.

so dont be a hypocrite.. either you take it literally and neverchanging, or as something that evolves as time itself does.

that is my take on the 2nd ammendment.

If former governor Palin wishes to keep her political aspirations alive giving "stirring" speeches behind closed doors and without any media coverage is not the way to do it. Surely there is even ONE media outlet in Alaska, be it visual or print, with whom the former governor has a good working relationship. I realize that she has painted the "east coast media" with a rather wide brush, but Alaska must have one television or radio station or even one newspaper whose staff she trusts. If not, one can only wonder why not.

She needs a good manager, one who can direct her path and insist that she follows her script. Sometimes it is shameful to listen to the srayry shots she takes at others. She lacks depth and should be educated in policies and procedures . We need more substance and less facila grimaces winks and ya. I am looking forward to more serious talk and activities from Sarah

Palin and the NRA. Could there be a better fit? It is only the fringe of the republcian party that Palin appeals to, and the NRA is the biggest part of the far right fringe. Palin will NOT be a factor in 2012, other than to drive moderates and independants away from the republican party.

The NRA did not reveal the content of her remarks, but described them as “a stirring speech on 2nd Amendment rights.”

Let's be honest. The reason why the did not reveal the content of her remarks is because one can not quote this woman and make sense. This woman just strings words together.

So, she waits to talk at the NRA dinner because I'm sure she was paid to be there...That's no surprise. Sarah's game now is all about the Benjamins, so the media probably won't get anymore statements from Sarah unless they pay for them or attend an event where she's getting paid....This move has nothing to do with the American people. This is all about Sarah.
