Palin gives 'stirring' gun rights speech at NRA dinner, says group

Palin's fans have been clamoring for her to re-launch her Twitter feed.

(CNN) - She’s gone Twitter-silent since leaving office last week – but former Alaska governor Sarah Palin has spoken out publicly for the first time since her resignation, according to the nation’s largest gun rights group.

Palin addressed a National Rifle Association dinner in Anchorage Saturday, the group reported on its blog. The NRA did not reveal the content of her remarks, but described them as “a stirring speech on 2nd Amendment rights.” Reporters were not invited to observe the event.

The former Republican vice presidential candidate was also given lifetime memberships in several local gun clubs, and the NRA’s Gold Medal Award of Merit for the Promotion of Gun Collecting.

Palin has not yet given a media interview since leaving officen and has yet to re-launch her Twitter feed after leaving her goubernatorial account behind. Last week, her spokeswoman said that she had never committed to, and would not be attending, a GOP event at the Reagan library at which organizers had expected her to appear.

It is not so much the left that dislikes her but all the intelligent people who despise her. Yes, that means if you like her, you are not that smart.

oh my goodness my father was a hunter and me too but why does the NRA think they own the country?
I don't like their attitude and Palin is a quitter so I wouldn't vote for her .

Soundslike she's going to run on a third party ticket. Good way to avoid McCain type handlers who unfairly insist on rationality and being informed as minimally informed about about things as the typical senator.

What silence? All she does is run her mouth. She's a quitter and a poor loser.

Palin is smarter, more honest, and better at leading than the current liar in chief. She had a real job and she isn't making racial comments like liar in chief.

Palin said she quit being Governor of Alaska so she can focus and do more "Good" for Alaska.

    HOW?

She has no elected voting rights at the state level.
She will not be permitted into state run meetings.
She will not be going to the US Governor's meetings in the Capitol.

How exactly will she be doing more "Good" for Alaska?

It is interesting to "listen" the liberals squeal like little piggies every time they hear about Palin. They get all upset when someone mentions the fact that they are supposed to have rights. Just make sure that the pig pen fence is shut, and that there is plenty of slop for them to eat, and they could care less for what the farmer (government) has planned for them. They even prefer to stay defenseless. How curious indeed.

Palin needs to say whether she would resign part way through her presidency to move on to bigger and better things

The left never ceases to amaze me, the level of hate they spew as the party in power is a close second to the hate they spewed as teh opposition during the Bush years. I got it, you don't like Sarah Palin. Move on.

This type of sentimate (and the corresponding views from the right) is leading to the demise of the United Staes as a super power. We are too big, too divided and too angry to continue as one country. Time to consider an amenable separation. We will all be alot happier.

Sarah has her own kwitter account (er, excuse me – twitter), so she can kwit directly (oh, sorry 'bout that again) to anyone who actually want to know what she's "thinking". Can't we leave her out of the real news cycle, leave her to her own kwitting (sorry – I don't know why that keeps happening) and talk about more important things?

Funny how so many people who kill things for fun get stirred up over early abortions. Maybe it's easier to force your views on other when you're armed.

She's been away for a whole week?!?! Why weren't we sending out search parties? Thank goodness she was out of the public spotlight for only a few days. Her tan might fade.

First you take the guns out of the hands of citizens. Then Obama builds his civialian army as strong and well armed as the United States Military. You slowly start cutting of funding for the military, and Obama's armed civialians gets stronger.....................What does this sound like too you america.

The NRA has not released the content of Palin's rousing speech because no one has been able to decode her broken vernacular! They'd cheer anything anyone on their side has to say – what's so unusual about that?

A nation of GUNS, and we wonder why so many people attempt to solve their problems with guns.......

The most ironic thing is that most of them proclaim to be Christians !

You know, for someone who, according to you libs, is too dumb to find her way out of a box, you sure do get in a tizzy whenever she speaks. What's the phrase, "Me thinks you doth protest too much." Granted, she's not a failed community organizer, she served longer as governor than a certain someone did as US Senator (not including him fantasizing about being president, then running for it). But still, there's something about Sarah Palin that has all you libs quaking in your boots. Could it be that just 6 months into this train wreck Obama is shaping up to be the worst president ever? And if (a big if) she was as dumb as you all say, well Obama's setting the bar so low, a trained squirrel will be able to do a better job than Obama by 2012, so she'd still have no problem. Unfortunately that still crosses off your party.

One of the reasons I dropped my membership in the NRA was because of its pandering to the religious right. The NRA seems to only invite members of the lunatic fringe to speak at their events. Nitwits like Tom Delay and Sarah Palin.

If the NRA is so proud of Palin, why didn't they release the contents of her speech especially since it was so "stirring"?

At one time the NRA advocated for sportsmanship in hunting. I guess they have lowered their standards when they support someone who thinks shooting wolves from helicopters or airplanes is sporting.

There are about 200,000,000 privately owned guns in the United States. About 40% of all households have at least one gun and 24% own a handgun. One-third of those households keep the gun loaded and unlocked for ready access and half keep it unlocked. About 30,000 people die annually from the introduction of a bullet into their bodies for one reason or another. Perhaps twice that number is shot but not killed. That is, Americans shoot ten times as many Americans per year as have been killed by terrorists since 9/11.

About 600 women and 125 men are killed annually by an angry spouse with a firearm. Products such as toys and cars must be manufactured to meet certain safety standards, but there are no safety or product standards that apply to gun manufacture. Those who have been convicted of a felony are much more likely to own a gun than those who have never been convicted.
