A DNC Web ad accuses the GOP of inciting mobs.

WASHINGTON (CNN) – The Democratic National Committee will amplify its charge that Republicans are responsible for “inciting angry mobs of a small number of rabid right wing extremists … to disrupt” town hall meetings in a new 65 second Web video that will release Wednesday morning.

The video shows footage of angry constituents and protestors at recent events and then flashes pictures of Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, House Minority Leader John Boehner, Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele, and even conservative talk radio icon Rush Limbaugh on the screen.

“They lost the election,” the narrator says. “They lost on the recovery act, the budget and children's health care. They've lost the confidence of the American people after eight years of failed policies that ruined our economy and cost millions of jobs. Now, desperate Republicans and their well funded allies are organizing angry mobs – just like they did during the election. Their goal? Destroy President Obama.”

The DNC issued a sharp statement Tuesday accusing Republicans and GOP allies of encouraging and coordinating the disruptive behavior at the town hall meetings.

UPDATE: Republican National Committee spokeswoman Gail Gitcho said Democrats were using the charge to dismiss criticism of the president's health care plan.

"In a remarkable example of callousness, the White House and Democrats have reduced the concerns and opinions of millions of Americans to 'manufactured' and have labeled them as 'angry extremists,' for voicing their opposition to President Obama’s government-run health care experiment," she said. "Millions of American families, small business owners, doctors, veterans, seniors – and even House and Senate Democrats – have real and serious concerns over the president’s risky and costly government-run health care experiment.

"And they should – taxpayers will pay for this costly experiment because it will raise taxes without decreasing costs, increase the deficit, will lead to less choice and lower-quality health coverage. Before heading into recess, the Democrats should have read the dozens of public opinion polls showing that a majority of Americans believe President Obama’s government-run health care experiment is a bad idea. Are Democrats so out of touch that they are shocked to learn that Americans are concerned about their $1.6 trillion government-run health care experiment?"

This whole thing is sickening- ignorant people being manipulated by right wing corporate lobbyists- AND THEY DON'T EVEN KNOW THEY ARE BEING MANIPULATED TO KEEP THE STATUS QUO FOR THE WEALTHY!!!

It's a sad day when free speech is compromised in this country in favor of totalitarian mob rule.

MN Resident   August 5th, 2009 10:08 am ET

Boy, is this the post calling the kettle black!! After MoveOn.org, Code Pink, ACORN, and Act-Up (Just to name a few), I think the Democratic Party and it's fanatical followers have to take a real close look in the mirror if they want to cricize people for "inciting angry mobs". It appears the Demcrats can dish it out, but can't take it.....

Waiting for 2010   August 5th, 2009 10:08 am ET

How ridiculous! Democrats are we not entitled to voice our opinions against your wasting our tax dollars? After all we are the tax payers who fund all the crap you waste our money on. We cannot afford any more of the Democrats experiments with trillions of our dollars and in the process destroy healthcare. Just goes to show how clueless the Democrats are and can't stop blaming everyone for their short comings.

Bill   August 5th, 2009 10:08 am ET

Wow. Almost reminds me of Iran. Let's see, the ruling party there didn't like opposition from the masses, so they claimed the US was inciting the protests? When is Ayatollah Pelosi gonna get it?

the rich gopers fund these baggers to dig their own grave.

Brad from Wildomar, CA   August 5th, 2009 10:07 am ET

Unruely behavior at a political event? Oh my stars and garters.... say it isn't so. I'm sure the behavior parallels with the loud protestors bussed in by Move On.org and other left wingnut organizations during the Bush era are merely coincidental. Liberals complaining about professional protestors should recognize that their example has caught on... and will probably become a permanent feature in the chaotic landscape that is American politics. Liberals protesting that protests are becoming unruely... I feel a major chuckle coming on.

Melissa   August 5th, 2009 10:06 am ET

That would be because thats exactly what the GOP is doing. They would rather a civil war than have a change in the status quo.

Jefe   August 5th, 2009 10:05 am ET

Criticism in politics is great. Outspoken citizens are great for democracy. However, any issuing death threats against the president, in the way they were before Obama was elected, need to be tried for treason. If I hear a death threat in the crowd against President Obama, I will call the FBI immediately.

Its amazing, in a party where most of the members identify themselves as Christians, to consistently see such anti-Christian behavior.

Seattle Sue   August 5th, 2009 10:05 am ET

Robert P   August 5th, 2009 10:05 am ET

When citizen's voice opposition to anything Obama – they are labelled unauthentic sore losers – driven by a right wing conspiracy. The real story here is not the noise at the town hall meetings, rather that Obama and his supporters refuse to legitimize any voice that does not keep in line with their agenda. Wow! Kinda like in Iran, when the governement did not like the voices of the voices of the people. There they attacked physically. In Obama's administration, the attack is against one's legitimacy. Does anyone else see the concern of this slippery slope!

Will L.   August 5th, 2009 10:05 am ET

Since when was it a bad thing to get mad when you think the country is not being run properly? During the Bush administration people protested against the war and many other things, as is their right. Now that people are protesting and letting their feelings known it is a bad thing? It really pisses me off that the DNC dismisses people's views as if they are being manufactured by some political action committee. People are mad – get used to it. I never heard Bush whining about people protesting and blaming it on the DNC or Clinton....

DianeR PC FL   August 5th, 2009 10:04 am ET

The Thugs of NOPE can't stand it when their tactics are exposed for all to see. If the mobs they've ginned-up were really interested in a dialogue about healthcare, then why scream and shout at townhall meeting for the purpose of legitimate discussion and debate. Perhaps the Blubbering Conservidiot Sniveling Moron Class are not interested in enlightenedi discussion – just in creating tea-bagging/birther hysteria and anger.

jt slater   August 5th, 2009 10:04 am ET

Apparently protest is not allowed in the Boy Wonder's Marxist State!!! The Deomcrats need to create some jobs and get this economy going rather than wasting money on political paybacks for the boy wonder's victory last november. And please don't tell me that a rise of .004 in the GDP is a signal that the recession is over. What a joke the Deomcrats have become!

Bob in Pa   August 5th, 2009 10:04 am ET

I guess since there were no torches and pitchforks it must have been a fake mob.

Why is it the that DNC and congressional leaders hate free speech so much ?

Maybe if Congressman were in Washington to represent the people from their district instead of themselves and their party leadership it wouldn't take screaming at town hall meetings to get their attention.

RDS   August 5th, 2009 10:04 am ET

It's not dismissing critics as the RNC is stating, but what solution can we come up with if everyone is shouting at a town hall. By doing this no one gets heard, no problems/questions get answers, and we're still left with a healthcare system with rising cost and debt which is causing 60% of the bankruptcy filings in this country.

Jeebus   August 5th, 2009 10:04 am ET

I agree with the right wing extremists like Boehner and Limbaugh that we should reduce government spending. Not one more dollar for Iraq. Let the Iraqis use oil profits to pay our troops. Oh, I forgot, the right wingers were going to do this originally but then they discovered there wasn't a defense dollar that they didn't like.

Beth   August 5th, 2009 10:03 am ET

The Republicans are willing to do anything to keep the status quo. They are now behaving like disrutive school children who need behavioral interventions. They act out when they don't get what they want. Does anyone out there know how to develop a behavior plan for these unruly Republicans. Perhaps losing election after election will modify their behavior somehow. As far as positive reinforcement goes, these guys are too old for stickers and m&ms.

Mitch, St. Louis   August 5th, 2009 10:02 am ET

Instead of complaining about health care reform why don't we protest our great great grandchildren having to pay off the debt caused by these rediculous corporations and their greedy CEO's....let's protest the Federal Reserve and bring back the gold standard.

John   August 5th, 2009 10:02 am ET

It is absolutely absurd for the same group of people who support operations like Code Pink to assert that concerned constituents showing up at a town hall meeting to voice their concerns about a potentially disastrous health care bill are just a "manufactured mob." These citizens represent mainstream America - but if the DNC wants to dismiss their concerns, that will be just fine - the GOP will gladly address their concerns in 2010 and 2012.

jeremy.....Dallas...Texas   August 5th, 2009 10:02 am ET

Republicans hate americans. They deny us health care but take to wars. They deny us stimulus esp cranker funding but vote to rebuild Iraq for 10 trillions.....war and reconcstruction plus va budget and war injuries. We pay taxes but get nothing of it. Obama is right to spend at home.

concerned citizen   August 5th, 2009 10:01 am ET

I find the dmocratic response insulting and dispicable. This type of smarm and patronization is how the democrats alienate the middle class and will ultimately lose the next election for them.

SwampyNoMore   August 5th, 2009 10:01 am ET

How many times can one say "government-run health care experiment" in a single statement? The GOP have obviously decided that this will be their new insidious catchphrase – talking of it being an experiment as if the first time anything new is done by a government isn't an experiment?

geecee   August 5th, 2009 10:00 am ET

I believe it. The loudmouth rabblerousers at these town hall meetings aren't there to get information or facts. They just want to disrupt and cause hate and discontent. That's been a Rethuglican tactic since Nixon's days. And unfortunately it works, so they keep it up. It's the usual "swiftboat" tactics, hate and fearmongering that the Rethugs love so much since they don't have real facts to oppose a program or policy. I hope the Democrats don't let them to this to the Health Care Reform.

Enlightened Voter   August 5th, 2009 10:00 am ET

Republicans support gun rights for all but not health care for all.
Republicans claim to be pro life yet support the death penalty.
Republicans claim to be the moral majority but will incite hatred.

CNN, you know that this DNC information is not accurate or correct, because you have had reporters at these meetings. Yet you continue to rehash these false statements without challenging them nor give accurate coverage of the extent of these meetings, only looking for the most heated ones that will generate visual images to support the DNC claims. When are you going to return to honest and fair journalism and get off the advocacy role for your own political bias? Shame on you! Walter Cronkite must be turning over in his grave!

Laura   August 5th, 2009 9:57 am ET

One problem with the Repubs "explanation": these people are NOT outraged about the health care plan. What they are protesting is that they are racists who say Obama is not a U.S. citizen. Nice try.

"Are Democrats so out of touch ..."

Now that's an expected twist. The Republiklans' demise is exactly because they are out of touch: out of touch with technology; out of touch with the average American; out of touch with the times; out of touch with true patriotism; out of touch with diplomacy.

The Rethugs have become irrelevant troglodytes. The only thing they are truly in touch with is the money that they've made off the backs of average citizens, through unnecessary wars, and big business lobbyists. They are keeping both hands on their money while attempting to drive the car. They are just an accident waiting to happen. Pitifully inevitable.

Gary   August 5th, 2009 9:55 am ET

"Stacking" the audience with people with scripted duties (such as disruptive yelling) is an old, old trick. The repubs can't think of anything original!

Santana from California   August 5th, 2009 9:55 am ET

Let's not to forget to mention 'FOX' news who rallies these extremist to the call. FOX is the worst of all them. Their Motto of "Fair & Balance" is a joke! The sad part is people actually watch this crap, instead of finding a news problem (like Public broadcasting) to get the real news. I'm independent but I really do not like what Republicans are doing, and disappointed in Democrats for not standing up sooner!!! Give the President a chance, six months is so little time to make such large changes to our country!

John   August 5th, 2009 9:55 am ET

It's not an empty accusation, it's true. Republican lobbying groups have circulated a memo identifying strategies and best practices for disrupting town halls, including shouting down speakers and other tactics designed to prevent meaningful debate on health insurance reform.

tpbco   August 5th, 2009 9:54 am ET

This is hysterical...even the Bush Administration didn't stoop this low. Are the liberal elitists this far out of touch.

Usually.

LIP   August 5th, 2009 9:54 am ET

And what happened to freedom of speech?
At least they aren't staged events where the Democrats have someone ask a specific prearranged question. At least they are spontaneous events. People have a right to know everything there is to know. Debate is good for America and we need more of it and less trying to shove something down our throats that doesn't fit.

Peggy - TX   August 5th, 2009 9:54 am ET

If, as RNC's Gitcho said the protester are merely expressing thier view, then the GOP would not be disrupting the town hall meeting after expressing thier partiular point of view. What is clear, is that they are not trying to communicate. The short slogans repeated over and over again prevent everyone, including the politicians holding the town hall meetings, from being able to have a discission or express a complex view point. The planned, funded, and corrdinated actions of the GOP step on the 1st amendment and the rights of Americans to assemble and disuss political issues.

Common Sense   August 5th, 2009 9:53 am ET

When do the brown shirts start showing up to beat down open discussion of issues? This is not democracy, it looks more like the shameful tactics of people like Rove and the Swiftboaters. The Republican party does not seem to be getting the picture, America is rejecting extremist politics.

rev   August 5th, 2009 9:53 am ET

Again, the Republicans are lying... what a surprise. Their 'playbook' for inciting anger, unruly mobs and hate has already been exposed and now they're claiming innocence? Ha! They're just as "innocent" in letting the Bush Administration drive our economy into the toilet by approving all of his failed economic policies. GOP: Greedy Old Perverts.

Tony   August 5th, 2009 9:53 am ET

The republicans never tell the truth. If they did, nobody would vote for them. So, they have to lie. They have some very well financed special interest groups helping them put out the lies. Americans suffer greatly because of these lies. Tell me how my family and I are better off without health insurance.

bdmiller   August 5th, 2009 9:53 am ET

Steven White Plains New York   August 5th, 2009 9:52 am ET

What a bunch of crap. 85% of people like their health care. The president of Italy does not go to Canada or stay in his own country for medical needs. Yes 47 million people do not have coverage, 20 million is made up of people who spend their money on other choices and 20 million are illegals. Does it make sense to scrap a whole system for that????? How about some tort reform?? Why will no one dare say those words. Obama can't go against his backers.

charles   August 5th, 2009 9:52 am ET

I love the Democrats, when Acorn is busing people in to protest the hateful republicans or somebody getting money its "grass roots" individuals exercising thier rights of free speech. But when people actually don't like thier policies its the baby beating conservatives inciting mob mentality. What load of hypocritical BS.

jymallyn   August 5th, 2009 9:52 am ET

The anti-Obama critics fail to realize that our current national health coverage is akin to having to pay every time you flush the toilet.

It is the insurance companies and their lobbyist customers that are benefitting from all of the accumulated fertilizer and NOT the overwhelming majority of Americans.

Yawn...   August 5th, 2009 9:52 am ET

So then i guess any protests and dissent during the previous president's term were really only democrat incited.

cindy   August 5th, 2009 9:51 am ET

Dems are starting to sound a little desperate. Good. They should with the problems and economic disasters they are trying to lay on our country. I see they are blaming Bush again. I'm not saying Bush was perfect because he wasn't but I'm pretty sure he wouldn't have tried to ruin the USA like Obama and his gang are. They are delusional at best. They'll get a good wake up call in 2010 and 2012. It's not about Dem or Repub at this point – it's about protecting our Constitution – these people have every right to protest and make their feelings known. Obama is the one who called for going "door to door" back in the fall – I guess that's okay if you are a liberal. We have the same rights and are protected as well to protest this joke of a bill.

Matt in CT   August 5th, 2009 9:51 am ET

So, let me get this straight. The DNC sees no possible way that anyone in the United States could possibly be angry with the crap that's coming out of Congress? This is all just another vast right-wing conspiracy? Why not just have the Secretary of State call it for what they think it is!

Are we going to have to face allegations of some conspiracy every time we criticize one of the President's moves? I thought this was the same sort of crap the Left faulted President Bush for during his terms.

Rich   August 5th, 2009 9:51 am ET

Well...they do..

Tony   August 5th, 2009 9:51 am ET

I have no idea who's behind the protests but it sure seems like the shoe is on the other foot. If the GOP is at the heart of the protests, good for them. Its about time they play politics on the DEM's level. Opposition to Obama and his agenda is always margionalized by the DNC and it is time that every legal means of speaking out needs to be used to remind the liberals that the other half of the country is has a voice too. Whine away DNC, you are just drawing attention away from your agenda, and isn't that the point?

Judy   August 5th, 2009 9:51 am ET

So typical! How else can they explain away the fact that the majority of Americans are mad as hell. Enough of the lies; out with the bums!

Jon   August 5th, 2009 9:50 am ET

I think the DNC has it right – it seems the Republicans will do anything to disrupt progress in this Nation. They have become the party of NO!

Concerned in GA   August 5th, 2009 9:50 am ET

These silly accusations from the Obama administration and the liberal Democrats come as no surprise. They will do and say anything to bully those who disagree with their ridiculous policies (which bascially amount to nothing more than power grab & control). Resorting to playground jabs, instead of actually listening to their constituents, shows just how Obama & his minions really ARE aware of our legitimate concerns... and it scares them.

Lexi   August 5th, 2009 9:50 am ET

Fact of the business is – there's too many unanswered questions about national health care to ram it thru so fast. It needs to be thought out and financial questions answered before it becomes law. The white house doesn't seem to get it.

Larry Raiken   August 5th, 2009 9:50 am ET

I called the RNC, and was told that the Republicans have nothing to do with the mob actions; there are no "elected Republican officials," on site, and I was also told that the disrupters are "free American citizens who feel threatened by the plan and who have the right," to do whatever.

Just thought I would tell you what happens when you call.

AJR - STL   August 5th, 2009 9:49 am ET

Yeah – it's the Republicans it's not about Bad policy being created on the hill.

Lin   August 5th, 2009 9:49 am ET

OK, let me get this straight- Democrats or liberals are labeled as "protesters" "organizers" or "activists" when they have an event to show their disapproval of something, but those who disagree with Obama's plan are labeled as part of an "angry mob" or a "right-wing extremists?" If you are a Democrat, it is portrayed as cool and progressive if you protest, but if you disagree with the Democrats, it is portrayed as backwards or crazy.

Wait, isn't this America, where we all have the right to protest and the right to free speech? So much for the new era of politics we were supposed to be getting.

Nelson Colorado Springs Co.   August 5th, 2009 9:49 am ET

Who ever wrote this I couldn't have said it better, Former President Bush and the Republican Part They lost the election,” the narrator says. “They lost on the recovery act, the budget and children's health care. They've lost the confidence of the American people after eight years of failed policies that ruined our economy and cost millions of jobs. Now, desperate Republicans and their well funded allies are organizing angry mobs – just like they did during the election. Their goal? Destroy President Obama.” Sad but true. Go President Obama

I think the American people will remember with vivid clarity of the meeting where President Obama was accused of "paling around with terrorists" during a speech of Sarah Palin. That mob was getting very angry. Who was behind it?? the GOP. I have been a life long Republican, never voted for a Democrat until this election. These idiots need to remember who elected them, and start actually representing US, instead of their special interests.

bradvado in boston   August 5th, 2009 9:47 am ET

oh PLEASE!

Isn't it time the Republicans snuggle up to the table and start thinking about compromise and what is best for their constituents? i bet their image would be much improved (and they may even WIN a seat or two back) if they worked toward common good. What a notion....."for the common good."

Buggers!

IQ test for all voters   August 5th, 2009 9:47 am ET

Typical republican response...they are after all the masters of spin!

Another typical republican response will be to take all the fruits of Obamas efforts, all the positives of the recovering economy, all the savings they'll get with reformed healthcare and STILL complain, still point senseless, irrational fingers. They're just the PATHETIC result of the massive dumbing down of the american people.

VinceCapece   August 5th, 2009 9:47 am ET

"In a remarkable example of callousness, the White House and Democrats have reduced the concerns and opinions of millions of Americans to 'manufactured' and have labeled them as 'angry extremists?" What about all the "extremists" who were in favor of science doing its job over the past 8 years? And what about all the underemployed over the past 8 years that the Republicans didn't care about? And the less than 30% of Americans who are NOT in favor of national healthcare are MORE important than the 71% who ARE in favor of it? That's being callous on the part of the Republicans.

Chris Phillips   August 5th, 2009 9:46 am ET

The Democrats just cannot fathom that people are angry with them. The Republicans are not inciting anything. If they had that kind of influence, you would have seen it during the elections. Instead, individual citizens are taking advantage of the opportunity when their representatives are home to make their voice heard. But, instead of listening to their constituents, the politicians are ignoring them and trivializing them. For those politicians, there is a reckoning coming in 2012.

southerncousin   August 5th, 2009 9:46 am ET

What are they called by the libs when they are from ACORN and the unions supporting Obama? Why did dear leaders Justice Dept. drop the charges against that black militant organization in Philadelphia for voter administration? Why are libs so hypocritical? Why has Nancy Pelosi not reported any results of Charlie Rangels tax cheating? Why has the state run media not followed up on any of these things?

Little Hawk   August 5th, 2009 9:45 am ET

The GOP's scare tatics don't work especially when they have done nothing to decrease health care costs or manage the deficit. It's time that we let the government provide us with a health care option similar to the one that they run at the VA.

Fair is Fair   August 5th, 2009 9:45 am ET

If the republicans dissent, it's called "inciting angry mobs".

If the democrats dissent, it's called a "grass roots movement".

Unbelievable.

Cyclex   August 5th, 2009 9:45 am ET

It is a mob when the republicans stand-up and disagree but it is a grass roots town hall discussion when it is democrats standing up and disagree.

Illinois 2   August 5th, 2009 9:45 am ET

The GOP has been using allies to plant themselves in these townhall meetings to disrupt them. This is just exactly the type of behavior that can be expected from those that have had there way since 1994 and can't stand to have some other group in charge now...

With all of the aforementioned being said, I too do not want the government being in charge of my health care or my insurance. We that have a group policy or private insurance would most likely see our care thrown into a government run program, which as we all know, do not run a smooth ship with medicare and medicaid.

Thanks but no thanks.

Simmy   August 5th, 2009 9:44 am ET

GOP..........You are the worst.......You should be ashamed to call yourselves Americans........Stop inciting misguided individuals to keep biting off their noses to spite their faces......Insurance mobsters are not hurting themselves.......They are hurting your middle America moms and pops constituents that you are bussing to townhalls to yell and scream like hyenas at Democrats.......Pharma gansters are laughing at all of you all the way to the banks......

Christian   August 5th, 2009 9:44 am ET

Get a grip DNC. You are so out of touch with public opinion right now, yet you dismiss a cold reality check as hysteria. People aren't in favor of this because you can not effectively communicate the finer points of the proposition, which leads them to believe you are pulling the wool over their eyes. And I have to believe since you are dodging all questions that require any level of specificity, that you are.
I'd be screaming too. Call me an activist I guess. An activist for the United States of America.
ha.

craig simpson   August 5th, 2009 9:43 am ET

The repubs are getting more desperate all the time. They have tried the scare tactics and failed so now they turn to the ultra radical fascist wing of their party to undermine Obama and the nation.

The public is very aware of this tactic and will turn on the repubs.

We remember that the repubs have no credibility any more. They are the party of lies, corruption and deceit. They are the party responsible for the Iraq war and the financial crisis.

Yes, Americans will not forget the party of gwb.

Jerry   August 5th, 2009 9:43 am ET

GOP = No new ideas. All they have is attack tactics and the American people know it.

Dee   August 5th, 2009 9:43 am ET

Unbelieveable! I guess the Democrats need SOMEONE to blame (of course it would be the Republicans), because they cannot fathom that Americans can actually THINK for themselves and comprehend just how BAD this health care reform bill really is. I truly cannot wait until the next congressional elections!

Steve (the real one)   August 5th, 2009 9:43 am ET

So, since the disapproval rate for this heathcare bill is at 50%, does the DNC actually expect us to believe there are no dems who are against this bill, that STILL has yet to be read by most of those who have a vote? Really, DNC, really?

Doug, Seattle, WA   August 5th, 2009 9:43 am ET

How long before the Republicans finally realize that these tactics will no longer work!?

The American public has come to realize that the Republicans and so-called Blue Dog Democrats represent the interests of large corporations, not their constituents!

A single payer health care system can work when managed by capable and responsible people.

I know the Bush administration went out of their way to reinforce the idea that government cannot get things done ... a kind of self-fulfilling prophecy if you will.

The Democrats are clearly demonstrating that running our government with dedicated professionals who care about our country and society we can make our country great again!!!

New Age Democrat   August 5th, 2009 9:43 am ET

Not to take away from the problem with these kinds of tactics, the Dems have been doing the exact same thing for years. Just calling it like it is...

Kris   August 5th, 2009 9:43 am ET

Why is the GOP rep not pointing out that this health care proposal is blatantly unconstitutional?

Ben in Texas   August 5th, 2009 9:42 am ET

Funny, I didn't see anything in the GOP response stating that they weren't, in fact, inciting mobs to disrupt town hall meetings. Surely, they would have denied it if it weren't true.

Heck, they'd deny it if it WERE true. After all, this is the party of Richard Nixon, who denied his part in Watergate, Ronald Reagan, who denied his part in Iran-Contra, and Bush/Cheney, who denied everything from lying to illegal surveillance to torture.

They are the Party of No, and they take no responsibility.

Jerry Grunden   August 5th, 2009 9:42 am ET

The Repubs are incitng the racist part of their party. They are spreading fear among these people and trying to disrupt the new direction we need to head in.

Southern Republicans are former Dixiecrats that do not like civil rights or healthcare for poorer Americans. They fled the Dem party in 64-65 when civil rights legislation was enacted.

It is too bad we have such a renegade party in our country.

Uncle Ellsworthy   August 5th, 2009 9:41 am ET

The democrats are a bunch of hypocrites. This is NOT mob incitement, this is a grass roots movement. That's what the democrats call it when they do it. In case they don't know it there are a lot of strong feelings against this plan out here. Personally I do not know a single person who is in favor of it.

Kyle   August 5th, 2009 9:41 am ET

You are joking right? The dems want to realease a video condeming the actions of the RNC one day after they demanded that a video questioning the health care plan should be removed from the internet – hypocrisy anyone?

Marty, FL   August 5th, 2009 9:41 am ET

These outside groups should be exposed for what they really are. Instead of so-called grass roots, these are fringes incited from right-wing lobbyist groups, such as FreedomWorks and Americans for Prosperity. It is a funded ploy by greedy insurance interests against real health-care reforms for Americans.

Shame on you, GOP!

These mobs are eerily similar to Palin rallies and teabaggers. Video should be released again to expose their deplorable actions so that Americans can return to more constructive discussions on health care.

Christian   August 5th, 2009 9:40 am ET

HAHAHA. Laughable.
Democrats – snap out of it and start governing by public opinion and not your own extreme agenda. If the people aren't for it, it shouldn't be so, no matter how much you feel its the right thing to do.
I love how when the same thing happens with Acorn, no one calls them activists. They are just concerned citizens.
What's an activist anyways? Just because the media or a liberal paints you as an activist, does it mean your opinion is invalid?

Torin   August 5th, 2009 9:40 am ET

Many Americans – Republicans, Democrats, and Independents – have legitimate questions concerning the bills being debated in Congress to reform health care in this country. These questions should be debated in Congress, town halls, in the media, and among our citizens. But viciously shouting down proponents of health care reform with no purpose other than disrupt a discussion of the issues is reckless, callous and malicious. Republicans that support this type response to the public debate on health care reform only seek to muffle debate and not promote it. Most Americans, however, understand the importance of this debate and will eschew the right-wing rhetoric.

Kyle   August 5th, 2009 9:40 am ET

We hear it all the time on right wing hate radio: "These people must be stopped!" For most people it's just a rallying cry, but for those who have a screw loose it's a call to arms that often turns out tragic. Domestic terrorism is almost entirely from the right these days, and the cheerleaders of the lunatic fringe have emerged from parks and street cornbers and now have audiences of millions on the radio and TV.

Gullible old folks who listen to Rush, think Fox News is actually news and can't understand the internet enough to realize this won't hurt them. But when the GOP say this will be a plan like England where they're told when to die....yeah, that's a bit idiotic.

Why do Republicans worship ignorance so much???

David   August 5th, 2009 9:38 am ET

When the republicans do it, its called inciting a mob, when the democrats do it, its called the finest tradition of free speech.

Bob C   August 5th, 2009 9:38 am ET

Dear Republicans and Democrats,
If you have constructive criticism as to how to improve health care and reduce costs, please feel free to voice your opinions. We certainly need to work hard together to improve the current system. However, if you are going to act as shills for the health insurance industry and disrupt meaningful debate over this important and complex matter, you are not voicing your opinions, you are prostitutes. As for Ms. Gitcho, you are intellectually dishonest and a liar.

Rush Goebbels   August 5th, 2009 9:36 am ET

Rush Limbaugh and the rest of the AM radio jihadist and followers that listen to them are behind this movement.Limbaugh called for violence at the DNC convention last year but quickly retracted it when told by snerdly he could be jailed for inciting a riot. Now he takes a more subtle approach in his wording, but I think the intent is there.I cant wait till he is jailed for tax cheating, and I hope they use the Rico Act against him also.

Randolph Carter   August 5th, 2009 9:35 am ET

You can tell the republicans are scared. That means we're on the right track. Unfortunately, their fear has spread to the easily misled base who, yet again, have been cowed by fear into acting against their own best interests. Twas ever thus. Have a nice day!

th   August 5th, 2009 9:35 am ET

The American people are already paying for those that don't have health care. When someone without health cannot afford to go to the Doctor, they wait until their illness is serious and end up going to the emergency rooms, which cost a lot more money.

Prevention is better and cheaper.

Erik in Real Pennsylvania   August 5th, 2009 9:34 am ET

Even a cold, practical analysis of the fear-mongering reveals it makes little sense strategically. Remember how the last Presidential election turned out despite all the inflammatory "He's a terrorist/socialist/illegal alien" rhetoric? Maybe the right wing should re-think how this disruptive anger schtick is going to play with the centrists and independents, who will REALLY decide the next few elections. Remember how the other guys won big-time? The scare tactic approach to manipulating the electorate is a foolish strategy that will simply backfire with all those voters who don’t buy the “real America” business.

Onenine   August 5th, 2009 9:34 am ET

I have no problem with Republicans being against President Obama's health plan but what I can't figure out and maybe someone can help me is what are the Republicans proposing. It seems they are running negative ads but offering no solution as if health care is fine the way it is.

Do on to others as you would have them do on to you...Are we not deserving of the same health care coverage as OUR congress?

Roger   August 5th, 2009 9:34 am ET

There are so many derogatory words that I could use to describe these people and their actions, but I say ignore them. They aren't interested in acting like adults so treat them like unruly children. I do wonder why none of these people have been arrested for disorderly conduct. Their behavior sure seems to meet the criteria.

Marc   August 5th, 2009 9:34 am ET

There are still people that believes that the 'Protocols of the Elders of Zion' are a proof of the 'danger' the Jews represent to the whole world. There are still people who don't believe in the NASA and scientific community and calls Neil Armstrong a great hoax. There are still people that believes that the Earth is flat. There are the birthers...
Reasonability doesn't works with them, period.
If they are gathering all around in order to disrupt any attempt of a serious conversation about the Health Care System, with or without Reform, and the GOP is somehow and someway helping them on that matter... it's more than 'Shame on you GOP', it's an attack on democracy.
But if the Dems are just using scare and fearmonger tactics then the attack on Democracy comes from their side.

floridabob   August 5th, 2009 9:32 am ET

Even though I am in the over 50 category, I support drastic Healthcare changes. The reason most of the support for Obama's plan is under the age of 50, is simply they know that their futures are dependent on an effective solution to a huge and growiing problem. Being a retired business person, I know that in order to reap future rewards, in this case control of Healthcare costs, investments have to be made now.

Mike   August 5th, 2009 9:31 am ET

Actually I think it is the plan itself which is inciting the angry mobs. I am angry and haven't been contacted by anyone affiliated with any group or association. As more people find out what is contained in the plan(s), the anger will continue to build.

Jeff, Huntington Beach, CA   August 5th, 2009 9:31 am ET

Many of the "tea baggers" who are now participating in these ignorant shout down charades show themselves for the mean spirited fools they are. One women was shown holding a bible up for the camera like she is on a mission from God. Unfortunately, 10% of American adults are now taking legal prescription psychiatric medications (to the delight of Big Pharma) and it looks like most of those are showing up in the town hall meetings to discuss healthcare.

What kind of ignorant, third world theocracy do they want to turn this country in to? The sheep are feeding themselves to the wolves.

Former Repub   August 5th, 2009 9:30 am ET

I agree with RNC spokeswoman Gitcho – we do need to have a dialogue about the future of health care in America. But this won't happen as long as Republican operatives use their angry-mob antics to disrupt informational meetings. Why do they insist on wasting our time? Voters need information and discussion, not shouting matches at town meetings. Are the Repubs so threatened by rational discussion by adults?

Why isn't CNN following the lead of MSNBC and shining a bright light on what the Repubs are doing to create phony insurrections?

JP   August 5th, 2009 9:29 am ET

I wonder where the Dems' sense of moral outrage over "inciting mobs" was when Code Pink was up to their antics. And how about the mob that took over the MinuteMen's presentations?

It is truly hypocritical and revealing how the liberal media and the Democrat Party refer to liberal mobs as "activisits," and in the same breath refers to Americans exercising their First Amendment rights as "extremists."

Somehow I doubt CNN will approve this message. Too much truth here.

KAT   August 5th, 2009 9:26 am ET

It is called freedom of speech. If an American does not like the way the government is doing things, it is completely ok to voice your opinion. There was a large crowd so obviously if everyone is trying to say something, it would sound loud BUT I did not hear anyone say anything disrespectful. Congress and the president just do not like the fact that that the majority of Americans do NOT like the plan. The CNN pole should not be factored in since CNN is so obviously slanted toward the president. It is better to look at unbiased polling data.

I don't understand why the whole system needs to be changed just to insure 20 million illegal immigrants and those people that, for some reason or other, cannot afford insurance. So the Republican party has the power to get people to hijack these town hall meetings with unrest and anger towards the new health care bill, but they couldn't use all those magical resources to win an election. Seriously? This charge is quite silly. Despite what everyone thinks, the Republican party does not have secret agents in all sectors of society just to undo the work of the Democrats.

One of those groups is Americans for Prosperity, a well-funded rightwing group that helped organize teabaggers, opposes environmental regulation, healthcare reform etc.. So did the Democrats incite all the Code Pinkers and far left protesters to attend Republican town halls? Could it actually be individuals and small groups that vehemently oppose Democrats' policies?

The party in power always forgets that they don't have 100%-or recently even 50%-support from the public.

Note: There IS NO vast right-wing conspiracy. The Republicans are far too disorganized to coordinate their own membership, let alone a bunch of wing-nuts on the fringe.

In the rest of the civilized world, people do not fear a health problem as an event that could destroy their families' future. We don't need health insurance; Wall Street investors need health insurance. The rest of us need health care, now.
"Less choice"? "Lower-quality coverage?"
What world do these people live in? Anything is better than a choice between slow financial ruin (paying insurance companies who will do their best never to pay in the event you should need it), or quick financial ruin (getting sick without insurance).
Kick the profiteers out of the system. We don't need them. The proof is in every other developed country, where people can get medical attention without someone making a buck on it.

inofritzn   August 5th, 2009 9:20 am ET

Only people inciting me are the lefties

tim   August 5th, 2009 9:20 am ET

It wouldn't be so bad if they people yelling at their congress people wouldn't shouting talking point straight from Rush & the GOP; talking points that aren't even factual. Is the GOP going to base a revolution on lies?

Politics In Washington??   August 5th, 2009 9:20 am ET

It is about time that the Democrats got some backbone and called out the Brownshirt Wing of the Republican Party. Those responsible for disrupting townhall meeting should be arrested for disorderly conduct and those inciting them should also be prosecuted. If police can handcuff and charge a man in his own home, they should have the courage to administer the law to a real threat to society.

Rick in OP   August 5th, 2009 9:20 am ET

The DNC has no clue of the manure avalanche that is waiting for senators and representatives when they come home for the August recess. Americans can tell when someone is trying to pull a fast one on them and they don’t like it. What we have seen so far is just an inkling of the public anger that is seething over the actions of the President and Congress since January of this year.
The rhetoric of the DNC letter of August 4th indicates fear and panic on their part. They are fully aware that if sufficient time is given for the American populace to evaluate the intent and cost of the health care plans, they will be rejected.

Abel   August 5th, 2009 9:20 am ET

Yet again the republicans cant stop being Bad losers

Conservative Independent   August 5th, 2009 9:19 am ET

two angry parties both wanting power. the attacks will never end. we need a third or fourth or fifth party to give us a more democratic form of government.

we need health care reform, but i shutter to think of the cost to my children when Obama's plan goes through.

Larry   August 5th, 2009 9:19 am ET

The ignorant republican propaganda machine is using the same tactics that the Nazis used to disrupt Germany's government in the 1930s. The majority of the American people are well educated and informed and these tactics will not work in this day and age. The educated majority spoke up on that Tuseday in November of 2008 and will speak again in 2010 when more republicans will lose their seats in congress. Ms. Gail Gitcho, you will see on that election day. See you next Tuesday in November, 2010.

Save Democracy   August 5th, 2009 9:19 am ET

The GOP is a terrorist organization. If one wants to have their voice heard, then show up to the meetings, be civil and represent your position in a mature way. But these people don't want a debate. They want a fight. It is only a matter of time before they become violent.

(And FYI, they are also all on the payroll of either the GOP or the Special Interest Lobbys, just like the people who rioted the Florida recount in 2000.)

Jay Dubbe   August 5th, 2009 9:18 am ET

You know, this might hold water if it weren't for the fact that many of the Democratic members of congress are against over-reaching health care reform as well.

Don't try to demonize people who exercise their right to free speech. At least they aren't breaking windows and burning things, the hallmarks of left-wing protesters.

Ryan Indy   August 5th, 2009 9:18 am ET

Are the Democrats SERIOUS? This is an insult to the American Public. What did you the democrats do for 8 yrs? TRY TO DESTROY GW BUSH? Absolutely. Democrats love dishing it out but absolutely can not take it. On top of that the Public is sincerely angry about the Policies that Obama is trying to put in place. I am not some Right wing Extremists I am an Independent and I am angry at the defecit that OBAMA has created and the health care he is trying to slam down the american publics throat. This is going to backfire in the face of the Democrats. Especially the hypocrisy involved with there message. AMERICANS DONT LIKE THE POLICIES that the Democrats are trying to implement. END OF STORY.

Rick from Murfreesboro, TN   August 5th, 2009 9:17 am ET

It is about time that the Democrats are taking a stand against the spoiled brats and schoolyard bullies of the Republican Party and the rest of the radical right wing conspirators. They can't win an election honestly, they have to bully, lie, and try to disrupt civilized discourse on the real problems of the country. They are the barbarians at the gates who only want to destroy what others are trying to build. They are a minority in our country now thanks to the mess they made of trying to run things. They are incompetent, corrupt, and greedy and all they can do is criticize the work of others but they can not offer anything constructive to getting us out of the terrible mess that we are in now that they caused.

Randy   August 5th, 2009 9:16 am ET

Our Great communist experiment can only end in a bad way for ordinary americans.

Cindy   August 5th, 2009 9:16 am ET

Typical left-wing Chicago style politics. Obama and his minions use the likes of ACORN to organize protests, commit voter fraud, and corrupt our government. Here we have actual citizens – on their own – standing up to the hordes of DC and demanding better representation and the libs mistake it for their own cheap tactics. Wake up libs – not everyone plays evil and dirty like you do. There ARE actually some true patriots left in this country and they can't stand the evil you are doing to this country. Get ready for a lot more of the same.

Michael   August 5th, 2009 9:16 am ET

Let's have a discussion, people. An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind, etc. etc.

Maranatha.Shalom   August 5th, 2009 9:16 am ET

The Democrats hate it when their rivals use their own tactics against them.

James   August 5th, 2009 9:16 am ET

It's obvious what's happenning. The insurance companies, the right wing extremists, Rush Limbaugh. These mobs, nothing they say really makes sense.

I wonder if they were paid to do it.

RRR   August 5th, 2009 9:16 am ET

I agree with the DNC.......this same thing happened at the McCain-Palin rallies last year...how shameful and Un-American it was for people to be yelling 'Communist' and 'Socialist' at a U.S. political rally! Using the well known power of innuendo.....these far-right extremists are doing everything they can to stop a discussion of health care reform. These reforms are still under discussion and no set in stone final plan has emerged. Is the GOP's plan just 'business as usual'.....and the millions who do not have health care will continue to not have health care? Is the GOP so 'out of touch' that THEY cannot see this current situation is driving the deficit larger every year and has to be addressed?
Once again the GOP believes burying their heads in the sand will absolve them from any blame, and make any problem just 'disappear'......wrong!

Welcome to The BoBo Show   August 5th, 2009 9:15 am ET

Ummm.......What like ACORN this is called community organizing which The Clown Obama knows a ton about. Look at it like ACORN only they are not looking for free handouts

Laura   August 5th, 2009 9:14 am ET

The Democratic party is completely out of touch with the American public. They can go to any newspaper website and read the same comments by many other everyday American's. REAL people! Their accusation that we are associated with special interest groups...etc....Is absolutely insulting!!

joe   August 5th, 2009 9:14 am ET

8 years of the Dems completely bashing the repubs was okay, but now it's wrong to do it to the Obama administration? Hyprocritical stuff like this is why the Independants are running away from the Reds in droves.

They need to get their act together or it's all over come 2010. The Democrats have the ball...why are they fumbling?

Joe   August 5th, 2009 9:14 am ET

The Democrats accused the Republicans of being out of touch with society...look what happens now that they are in power.

ldk   August 5th, 2009 9:13 am ET

This is garbage. The socialist policies of the congress and obama administration are the ONLY things inciting we the people. Congress refuses to listen to our e-mail, letters, faxes, calls, pleas, and cries. Now they will face angry mobs. We the people are fed up and we are coming.

crazyqualityguy   August 5th, 2009 9:13 am ET

What about all the crazy libs that shut down Tancredo and UNC chapel hill, or other tactics. It is ok for them to be heard but not normal Americans. Come on, report the truth.

Brian- Palm Bay, FL   August 5th, 2009 9:13 am ET

Talk about your head in the sand. Right wing extremists??? They look like normal people who are pretty ticked the Government has squandered the wealth of the nation and now want to run us even deeper into debt while taking control of our health care. I thought Dems wanted the Governments hands off our bodies. I guess that is just if you're black professor or looking to kill an unborn baby. If understanding this looming health care fiasco is an albatross around our countries neck and opposing it makes you a right wing extremist then count me in.

Expat American   August 5th, 2009 9:13 am ET

The strategy of inciting mobs began with McCain's pick of Palin. However, I don't think the McCain campaign nor the GOP expected the global media to pick up on it as much as they did. The small town ignorance expressed by the countless mobs of uneducated bigots who never strayed within 10 miles of their place of birth was put on display for all of the world to see. The educated world laughed at Republicans, at Palin, at her ChriSSt Nazi supporters and at the old fool John McCain for choosing her. Republicans have changed their white sheets, torches, ropes, and pitchforks for business suits and blackberries – they just need some of their supporters to carry out their new mob strategy and party ideology.

SkiDoc   August 5th, 2009 9:12 am ET

Love the lib logic – if Acorn gets out and organizes dead people to sign up as Democrats, its "democracy in action" – but if citizens are encouraged by legislators to express their opposition to an unecessary health bill that will increase the national budget by a sixth, its "mob rule." This is Orwellian: "All citizens are equal, but some are MORE equal than others."

Wake-me-when-it's-over   August 5th, 2009 9:12 am ET

Thank you Gail Gitcho... excellent way of telling those who pay attention..exactly what is going on here. This just shows how much American's are losing their own Democratic process. We express mass concern, and we are right wing extremists? Obama is more threatened by Patriots than he is by IRAN. He is willing to engage them, 'stick a feather in his cap and call it diplomacy'.

We have a right to be heard. Next we can expect an overwhelming police presence at the meetings, with camera's rolling in a new wave of leftist propaganda. Only Stalin was a better master of propaganda that Obama's administration.

We know what Freedom is... and We will Keep it ..thank you very much!!

Laura   August 5th, 2009 9:11 am ET

I absolutely can not believe the accusation by the Democratic party! We are REAL people who have REAL concerns about the proposed healthcare reform! Personally, my husband and I are every day middle-class Americans. I happen to also be an RN. I feel (and many of those I work with state the same) that the less government involvement in healthcare and our healthcare choices....The Better! What is being proposed will dearly cost the taxpayer (though they will lie to you at first and say it won't just to gain support!), it takes away personal choices concerning our health, and it will diminish the quality of care you receive. This is NOT reform!

George Washington   August 5th, 2009 9:10 am ET

So everyone that disagrees with O'Bamma is part of an angry mob? Maybe if we had an objective Media with Journalists they could find something wrong with this propaganda. Maybe it is the Media that we need to get rid of. It is the right of people who disagree with the government to voice their opinion.

This reminds me of Hitler lining up the Jews to go to the gas chambers. Maybe if someone had mentioned that was not such a good idea, it would not have occurred. This is what happens when you have facist communists running the government.

Obama is a Disaster   August 5th, 2009 9:10 am ET

If this were one bit true, it would only be further evidence that Republicans are finally learning – fight fire with fire.

Brian   August 5th, 2009 9:10 am ET

Such tactics are what the failed Republican Party has sunk too; it is now a dangerous, morally bankrupt organization.

JonDie   August 5th, 2009 9:09 am ET

"The Democratic National Committee will amplify its charge that Republicans are responsible for “inciting angry mobs of a small number of rabid right wing extremists … to disrupt” town hall meetings..."

What do the Democrats expect? The Republican Party is controlled by a small number of radical right wing extremists like Rush Limbaugh, Michael Steele and Dick Cheney.

DOUG IN LITTLE ROCK   August 5th, 2009 9:09 am ET

Yes he did act stupidly. I think the president should never comment on local matters especially when he does not have all of the facts. He really needs to start thinking before he speaks. I feel the same way about the proposals that he has made ( cash for clunkers ) . He doesn't think things through.

Kelli   August 5th, 2009 9:09 am ET

I am ashamed to call myself a Republican, after seeing how these people behave.

Matt   August 5th, 2009 9:09 am ET

This is nonsense. I am a Democrat. And I don't want this plan. 80% of us should run away from this and demand that we debate on the very merits of any plan before anyone votes on this. This is odd that we are voting in way too many items way too fast without knowing the consequences of the proposal. If you haven't read the bill, why are you so ancious in having this passed????

Jim   August 5th, 2009 9:08 am ET

I'm sorry but I just don't see Republicans working the health insurance problems we face. All I see is them trying to stop it. They had eight years to work on this problem (and the deficit by the way) and not a word was mentioned about it. So why should we think they actually care about it now?

NJ   August 5th, 2009 9:08 am ET

- Telling old people the government is going to trick them into signing their lives away.
– Scaring people into believing that "the socialists" are out to take away their rights.
– Telling people Obama wasn't born in the US and has presented a fake birth certificate.
– Rounding up mobs of rable and busing them to town hall meeting so they can intentionally disrupt.

Excuse me right-wingers....but if you actually have a point....why do you have to lie so bad?

jp,michigan   August 5th, 2009 9:07 am ET

All you have to do is watch C-SPAN, during the session of the Energy and Commerce committee meeting. Anthony Wiener and Waxman made it very clear they intend to push on the floor of the House ( with Pelosi blessing) a full bill pushing for One Payer System (Universal Health) Elimination of Medicare Eligibility Under Parts B, C, D.

tom   August 5th, 2009 9:06 am ET

my god Washinton is so FUBAR. Let me state for the record my anger stems from a poor plan, from a poor leader, with no details on how to pay for it (aside from raising my taxes) and I am completly against my government being in any buisness; especially when they can't make Amtrak work, or medicare, Medicaid, SS, cash for clunkers and I guess we'll see how Government Motors works out...

jaye   August 5th, 2009 9:06 am ET

The GOP is inciting hate and spreading lies – they will stop at nothing to eliminate our Presidents agenda for our country....and the idiots at fox news are leading the pack.

Deborah/Kansas City   August 5th, 2009 9:06 am ET

I saw proof that many of the people were bussed in a paid by a lobby group to disrput the meetings. Maybe the RNC didn't do it but their lobby group did. When you watch the replay of the event, it does appear that the group of people just shouted down anyone who tried to speak and were not interested in a discussion about anything.

Americans should have a chance to ask real questions and have them answered; not be shouted down by paid groups of distruptors, who just want to kill any chance for change, in our healthcare system.

PJ   August 5th, 2009 9:05 am ET

Republicans are intent on making sure the government stops. Witness their attempt to stop the Town Hall meetings by gang of hecklers. The party of NO in trying to keep us citizens from being represented by our representative. It is not enough that they want Obama to fail and thus the rest of the country, they want to make sure they are heard over everyone else. That is so un-american. Shame on you conservatives.

DSH   August 5th, 2009 9:05 am ET

The Dems are right. The GOP is digging itself a big ugly hole. They can't crawl into it fast enough for me! Bush promoted the transformation of the GOP into what former Republican strategist Kevin Phillips calls "the first religious party in U.S. history”. The GOP supported Bush's backward thinking (outwardly hostile to science) and his failure to deal with huge economic distortions which got us in this mess....and now the GOP are no better than a lynch mob? They need a new PR director, among other things.

Sarah   August 5th, 2009 9:05 am ET

The guy who is behind organizing all these is a disgraced former hospital executive who defrauded the government out of billions. Do you think he really gives two hoots about what is right for the American people or is he out for a little revenge. They are using the same PR firm in charge of the swift boating using BLATANT lies. They are just using these undereducated racists for their own purposes and could care less if they were lying dead out in the street. Stupid sheep.

Michael in Houston   August 5th, 2009 9:04 am ET

I predict the GOP talking wackos and their freakshows will be having a field day today on their shows across the country ripping President Clinton in some sort of fashion over his bringing these two journalists home. You watch and listen....they will see this as a stunt, as an act of something deplorable and will probably throw in some accusation of treason along the way.

Independant voter   August 5th, 2009 9:04 am ET

What happened to the quardoned off free speech areas we had under Bush?

joco, NH   August 5th, 2009 9:03 am ET

The groups that are being set up are disgusting – but, because we are the United States of America, they can exist. Ironically, when the former president was in office these things were not allowed or they became victims of wiring.
The evolution of the Republican party has been disgusting and leans more toward socialist tendencies then any democratic group. This is not Abe Lincoln's party anymore!
That being said – when it comes to our goverment – there needs to be compromise across the aisle. Our new president has reached out more and more and is rewarded by constant slaps in the face. I'm to the point where I hope the dems start strong arming and forcing the republicans to behave. That seems to be the only way to get things done.

Heidi Macumber   August 5th, 2009 9:01 am ET

I will be attending a TEA Party today. No one is forcing me to attend; no one is busing me to the event. It's just that I am very concerned about where our country is headed and I want to join in anything I can to put a stop to it, and NOW!

joe   August 5th, 2009 9:01 am ET

Why are the Dem's so stubborn – maybe the anger and frustrations are warranted, maybe they should take a breath and actually think about what American's want instead of looking to blame someone or some party – they have become the party of blame. Everything was Bush's fault and now it is the GOP. We are all losing confidence in that type of leadership.

Larry   August 5th, 2009 9:00 am ET

I believe it. Republican congressmen are heavily on the take from the healthcare/insurance industries. That's why Republicans keep saying the status quo is good and fight health care reform. I had no idea how corrupt the Republican party is until health care reform came around.

They have good health care that is paid for by us. What do they care about us.

Tom Paine   August 5th, 2009 8:59 am ET

By "angry mobs" does the DNC mean angy voters who are tired of the constant baloney being served by Obama and Pelosi?

Mark of Saint Louis   August 5th, 2009 8:58 am ET

Wake up people, these are not angry mobs. They aren't being paid for showing up. They are not extremists. Leftist propaganda.

scott   August 5th, 2009 8:58 am ET

Sadly brings back flashes of the RNC Sponsored Palin Rallies and crowds yelling "kill him" and other Horrific things...all the while Republican Palin smiling away ear to ear. I Honestly feel the RNC has an Intense Hatred of Obama....its really sad. Fear is a Powerful way to confuse people and that along with "NO" to everything he's trying to do is all they've got. I've become more pushed to the left as a result

lulu   August 5th, 2009 8:56 am ET

Dear Democrat Leaders:

I'm confused. During the presidential campaign, didn't Obama tell people to "get in their faces"? Didn't he pull out all stops aided by ACORN and MoveOn.org?

And now you're telling people to shut up and sit down like Pelosi did with Hillary Clinton during her campaign run?

Keep on pushing these massive bills because you ain't seen nothing yet.

Will H   August 5th, 2009 8:56 am ET

Is the DNC serious? These kind of politics scare me.

Jenn, Philadelphia   August 5th, 2009 8:54 am ET

So, Liberal groups like MoveOn and ACORN can organize protests, bu Conservatives can't? That's what I like about Democrats, their fair-mindedness and belief in equality. And if the Democrats think these people are "mobs", they've never seen an ActUp demonstration.

Matt   August 5th, 2009 8:53 am ET

What a crock!

Whining democrats!

A Vast Right Wing Conspiracy!!

Typical. Always the Victim Party aren't we???

John, Black citizen   August 5th, 2009 8:53 am ET

The only people making noise about the Prez is the GOP but they have nothing to offer to get the country moving again. Because the GOP has offer nothing but noise and crap, the voters will say, "At lease Obama tried" and the GOP just sit back and complained. Who do you want? A doer or a do-nothing?

shucks   August 5th, 2009 8:52 am ET

And we didn't know this. If you were living under a Bush (pardon the pun) over the last 6 months you might not know this. Republicans are bullies. They are inciting as much hatred as possible. They are unstable and by their words and actions have proven their hatred many times over. They are bent on dividing the country and Americans as much as possible. Religion and guns. They same republican moniker that has been passed on for years. Nothing has changed, exept we have a black president and it is just eating these people alive. We are either going to have to listen to this for the next 8 years. The republicans are already starting to sound like Charlie Brown's teacher.

Rob   August 5th, 2009 8:51 am ET

If this is true which I doubt it is. Then good, how long has the democrats been doing this.....for YEARS!! So its about time, thats all ACRON is and nobody says anything aout that. I Hope this is true

j williamson   August 5th, 2009 8:51 am ET

It made up of the same rent-a-mob crew that disrupted/halted the 2000 Florida vote re-count. Remember that folks? The so-called "concerned residents" turned out to be Republican staff members. What a desperate and scary bunch they are.

Andy J, NY, NY   August 5th, 2009 8:49 am ET

that's messed up.

people voicing their concern... thousands of them... it they are "fake"

yet when 20 anti-war protesters camp out to bash Bush, it gets news coverage for days. AND Bush defended the protesters' right to say what they were saying.

The Obama administration comes out and says that these people are fakes and a "mob".

You have got to be kidding me. You will see, come next election. This is no joke. Its no mob. Its real Americans who are going to take back our country from the internationalist, wealth redistributing progressive fascists.

Steve in Kentucky   August 5th, 2009 8:45 am ET

I personally would love to show up to town hall meetings to counter this pack of organized, mindless wing nuts. The Democrats need to start organizing counterdemonstrations as well as packs of demonstrators to go to Republican town hall meetings.

Phil   August 5th, 2009 8:44 am ET

Your asking if I believe this was done? YOU BETCHA.

Joan   August 5th, 2009 8:42 am ET

It should be made clear before the meeting starts that only people who are there to sensibly debate the issues will be allowed to stay. Anyone who is there to only shout and scream and disrupt others from speaking should not be allowed to stay. Their agenda is quite clear. Speakers from both sides should be allowed to speak freely without interruption. The media is catching on to these groups of protestors and it does not look good on them. It could all backfire on the protestors as they are being seen as only obstructionists.

Kathy Johnson   August 5th, 2009 8:39 am ET

This is ridiculous! I am the everyday average american. I work a full time job, I vote, I keep up with current events, but I am sick of the bickering. The fact is that the health care plan that is on the floor now is not a good plan. The costs are too high for a country so far in the red. I work in healthcare and I can appreciate the hardships of the uninsured, but more goverment is not the answer. There is already so much red-tape in health care that the more we add by implamenting new regulations and new guidelines the less doctors want to go through the hassel.

Doug   August 5th, 2009 8:38 am ET

As a Democrat, who worked for the election of President Obama, this is stupid politics. People are more angry now having difficulty in paying their bills and trying to move on. I think the White House is leading this phony charge and they are making a huge mistake. O needs to get some real results not start the second civil war in America between the haves and the sinking o the middle class.

Jeff Brown   August 5th, 2009 8:37 am ET

Let the GOP continue their stupid antics. They shoot themselves in the foot every time!!!!!

tom   August 5th, 2009 8:37 am ET

Nonsense, Obama is doing a pretty good job of deflating expectations. To suggest that the republicans are that organized is funny. I fear the next go around when the republicans win and they yell loud and clear...."We won, you lost, get over it" Those Dems sure are an arrogant bunch but they try to make you feel good with nice feel good messages.....Nice messages but they can't seem to solve problems without spending lots of money. Guess what....it's our money they want to spend. Personally I could care less about party affiliation, I don't want to keep paying more money to help illegal immigrants get health care and provide more help to folks who won't help themselves. As I look around, we are still at war, we are still in Cuba, We are planning huge tax increases.....the only thing different than before is the huge TAX!!! Stupid is as stupid does!!

phoenix86   August 5th, 2009 8:35 am ET

Funny, democrats will negotiate with terrorists (Billy boy is back from N. Korea), but won't talk with Americans about healthcare. Ironic.

Ted   August 5th, 2009 8:34 am ET

Well excuse me for exercising my freedom of speech!
If we're motivated to protest against Obama's and Pelosi's plans, then you'll just have to suck it up. No one told us to go, we want to go because we're fed up with you!!!
If it was OK for us when we were hippies to protest the war, why isn't it ok to protest other things we know are wrong, like this farcical health care plan. Whiners! Thieves...Left wing of the Dem Party, trying to steal every right we have.

Steve, Columbia SC   August 5th, 2009 8:34 am ET

The DNC needs to wake up and pay attention. It is more than just "rabid right wing extremists" that are not happy with the snake oil the Congress and President are trying to sell with the expansion of the government trough into every area of our lives.

I am in charge of my life, my family's life. I am responsible for my wealth or lack of it, my success or lack of it, my health or lack of it, my retirement or lack of it, my finances or lack of it......................NOT MY GOVERNMENT.

You just don't get it. This is a republic, we can speak our opinion, and you need to listen to your constituents more carefully.

Biased   August 5th, 2009 8:34 am ET

It seems as if the DNC might be inciting hatred here.

Douglas G. Wright   August 5th, 2009 8:34 am ET

In the old days it was called sedition and treason. They hung people for that. Now it's become an acceptable practice. It's called conservative.

There's just not much that scares me anymore - certainly not hysteria drummed up by noisy liars and malefactors filled with hate. If they can find a more freedom loving, fun loving, life respecting nation somewhere else; let them go there. Don't try to overthrow this one, or try to make it fail. Let's try to make it work!

Bosworth   August 5th, 2009 8:33 am ET

Right, like organized liberal protest groups NEVER disrupted Republican events . . . . .

I love it: Democrats have been linked in one way or another to YEARS of organized protest. But when THEY do it, it's called, "Free Speech Protest."

When Republicans do it, CNN calls it: "inciting mobs."

Give me a break. Your grossly biased partisanship is showing ....

Cindy PA   August 5th, 2009 8:31 am ET

It’s not hard to believe that the DNC does not understand when the America people revolt against the Democrats / liberals in Congress. Their health care plan is just another way for the teleprompter president and the tax cheating Democratic Congress to get their hands in our pockets. The teleprompter president his amateur hour administration have no real improvement for the American people. We have the DNC / Democratic Party in Congress driving this nation into bankruptcy.

vegage   August 5th, 2009 8:30 am ET

Of course republicans are behind all this circus. They oppose to reform the health care, they are always in favor of big interests, and they are using the conservative base to make their war against a reform that is needed urgently.

I don't know about the rest of the democrats, but if I was at a town hall meeting and a bunch of republican losers started screaming in my ear, i'd show them how to really disrupt the meeting. By the time the cops got there, some big mouth derelicts would be missing some teeth!!! Why people sit there and take that crap is beyond me. Come on losers, TRY ME, I beg you!!!!

mike   August 5th, 2009 8:26 am ET

inciting a riot? you have got to be kdding me..ask anyone out here in america and you will find we are VERY concern with the direction of this country. bailouts, big spending, pork, bias meida coverage, tax increases in areas OTHER than income tax, money paid back by banks that were suppose to reduce the deficit put inot a general fiund and used by barney franks to complete a housing project, mass media coverage on the gates issue with hardly any on the black panthers harrassing people at the poll AND being pardoned, tim g saying we may have to raise taxes on the middle class now because of runaway spending.. government czars that are communist, government czars as a whole, gavernment intervention in all areas of private business aren t you concern?

annie s   August 5th, 2009 8:23 am ET

Did they hire Sarah to incite riots yet? I can hear it now "kill them, they're terrorists!" The Republicans have no other plan than fear – it worked for them throughout the Bush years and sadly, it seems to be working for them again. That the American public can be so easily manipulated is sad testimony to our characters.

Kevin in Ohio   August 5th, 2009 8:22 am ET

Oh, come on...... gibe me a break! These are hardworking, decent, normal Americans. If this is an unruly mob, where is the anger at the left-wing protesters we've seen over the decades? There were no buses loaded up. There are no "big bad insurance companies" behind this. Its just Americans with a different point of view expressing THEIR anger for once. The left-wing does NOT have a monopoly on protest or freedom of expression.

Ancient Texan   August 5th, 2009 8:19 am ET

The DNC has an exclusive right to free speech? Nobody that is in disagreement with Obamacare should dare disagree publicly? The People are mad because their representatives are not listening to them. They were ignored on the stimulus vote and will be ignored again on Obamacare.

bill   August 5th, 2009 8:15 am ET

is this all the repubs got.ITS A JOKE.A BAD JOKE BUT STILL A JOKE.NOT FUNNY.after eight years of bush chaney corruption.we the american people should be protesting.WHERE IS .WAS ACCOUNTABILITY ON IRAQ.lets get the truth out there so we can heal as a once great nation.

Sam Sixpack   August 5th, 2009 8:14 am ET

Liars lying about liars. Democrats and Republicans all clamor for the right to give your tax dollars to their fat, greedy, rich friends.

Without this new plan, big insurance companies will suck trillions of dollars out of health care. With this plan, big insurance companies will suck trillions of dollars out of health care.

You can fool some of the people all of the time, all of the people some of the time, but all you need to do is fool enough of the people enough of the time.

Daniel   August 5th, 2009 8:14 am ET

Good for the Dems finally getting a backbone to stand up to the Republican Lies. If they (or specifically John Kerry) had one back in 2004, we might be in a different situation today.

TangledThorns   August 5th, 2009 8:14 am ET

This is pathetic of the DNC to attack protesters like this. This is an attack by the DNC against free speech, nothing more.

Paul   August 5th, 2009 8:11 am ET

This "create an enemy to reduce attention on the Dems" video is something the Nazi's would have generated. Be Afraid . . .

phoenix86   August 5th, 2009 8:11 am ET

Another irresponsible attack from the DNC. The DNC firmly believes in mob rule, where a majority does what it wishes without any consideration of opposing or alternative views.

The democrats are quickly on their way to the ash heap of history. First step was the election of "The Fool", next step is 2010, then 2012.

lindsey   August 5th, 2009 8:11 am ET

As if the Democrats never organized protests and caused disruptions while Bush was speaking somewhere. Hello Kettle, meet Pot.

Obama only creates TAXES   August 5th, 2009 8:08 am ET

Why shouldnt we incite mobs, all the democrates want to do is pass new tax laws and then pass a health carer that will give old people counciling on how to give up their lives so the government can share their wealth.

Its time the mobs take back America from the Obama Socialistic Republic of Non-America people known as Democrates

Marty, Grand Rapids MI   August 5th, 2009 8:04 am ET

The GOP has no rational argument against health care so they are stirring up their irrational base to make noise like they normally do instead of debating the topic. GOP wants more of the same, no coverage for all Americans, rising health care costs for American's and Profits for insurance companies.

GOP, if you have an answer, lets see your plan for covering all of American and reducing cost and submit it to the CBO. Otherwise, if you are not going to help with this issue, sit down and shut up.

Rhonda   August 5th, 2009 8:03 am ET

Poppycock. The Democrats are just ticked off a page from their playbook was stolen. Alinsky's tactics are working against them now.

Sam Sixpack   August 5th, 2009 8:01 am ET

Once your guy is elected, free speech sucks.

I for one can't wait to be ordered to give all I can "afford" to BHO's fat, greedy, rich friends and then denied coverage if and when I get really sick.

And I thought Bush sucked.

Right Leaning Independent   August 5th, 2009 7:56 am ET

Seems to me that the Dems are desperate because they can not get health care passed, because the American public has wised up to the worthless stimulus package and wasteful bailout of the Auto companies only to see them file for bankruptcy, Dems realize that Main Street has caught on to the fact that they are going to have to be taxed for this big spending liberal president and they are mad that this racist president threw the police under the bus! And most of all Dems are trying to stop Obama's ratings slide with this ad! People complained that the Republicans were thugs yet it seems that the Dems are the ones assuming the role of thugs. If you do not agree with them – you are unpatriotic and against America!!!

Randy, San Francisco   August 5th, 2009 7:56 am ET

The future does not bode well for the GOP. The GOP has allowed its future remain captive of an extreme minority led by political talk show entertainers. The changing demographics and lack of diversity will doom any GOP political come back in the immediate future. Mob politics will turn off the majority of Americans.

FORMER republican, NEVER again!   August 5th, 2009 7:52 am ET

These morons, the mobsters are fighting against their own interests. They are being manipulated by corporate lobbyists and are too stupid to realize it. They are truly rethuglicans and have become the party of NO solutions, NO ideas and NO compassion.

West   August 5th, 2009 7:52 am ET

WOnder if not a case of protesting to much not that the democrats would stoop to inciting something just to blame the republicans and distract folks from their own messes

dominican mama 4 Obama   August 5th, 2009 7:50 am ET

I'm all for freedom of speech; it is part and parcel of what makes this one of the greatest countries on Earth, but this is bulltwinkle! If you feel strongly about the Presidents policies write to your congressperson. There is no need for Republiklan leaders to encourage these types of "spontaneous" demonstrations for the whole country and world to see our ignorance and intolerance (bigotry). I was absolutely stunned when I saw this type of thing at McCain and Palin's rallies during the primaries without a peep from either Sarah or John to put a stop to it. Not only was this classless on their part, it was evil. No president, that I can recall, has worked so hard for the regular folks and been hated and disrespected so much in return. May God bless him, and keep him safe from his enemies.

Right Leaning Independent   August 5th, 2009 7:47 am ET

How about the Liberal loonies that broke windows and threatened a speaker at UNC several months ago causing the speaker to cancel his speech!! I guess that was just Free Speech???? Democrats=Party of Hypocrites!!

justaspark   August 5th, 2009 7:39 am ET

It happened in Maryland's First District yesterday. People had their minds made up and would not listen to the congressman explain anything. They would not even listen when he said he agreed somewhat with them, that he did not support the health care bill as it is right now or anything. He voted for the cap and trade after winning concessions for agriculture, and Maryland already had cap and trade, but that didn't faze them either. They came spoiling for a fight, not to listen to the congressman. They are the ones who are scary. They make wild claims with nothing to back it up. They say they are losing freedoms (don't know which ones, they didn't specify) and that socialist regimes are taking over America. ????

jody in NY   August 5th, 2009 7:38 am ET

You know I am tired of the fighting back and forth. Can the two parties sit down and figure out a Health Care plan that is good for all americans. Instead of spending all this money for smear campaigns, maybe that is how we come up with the money to do the health care reform.

cfrench   August 5th, 2009 7:38 am ET

Why not let them continue? It will only serve to isolate the right wing tea-baggers even more than they already are. If the DNC were smart they'd keep their mouths shut and let the gun toting, homophobic bible bangers continue to self destruct.

CJ in FL   August 5th, 2009 7:37 am ET

If the GOP is inciting angry mobs, what were the Democrats doing during Bush's entire term? Good gravy, talk about blatant hypocrisy!

Additionally, I noticed that opponents of the current ruling party are now classified as extremists, when they used to be called 'concerned citizens' or 'patriots' while the GOP was in charge.

My how times have changed...

Norv in Largo   August 5th, 2009 7:34 am ET

Why is it that Democrats cant take their own type of response. When President Bush wanted to make statements, or have meetings, or went places, people protested, drew cartoons of him, and Moveon.Org, Code Pink, I can go on and on.

I think its great that the Republicans the extremists granted are acting like Democrats.

Shows how childish we have become. Why do we owe Obama any more cooperation than Democrats gave President Bush.

The American people have not been duped, we are questioning all things and letting Congress know.

Perhaps we have hope after all.....

Brina   August 5th, 2009 7:29 am ET

The GOP is behind this craziness. They should be encouraging people to talk and get answers but nooooo they rather hold klan rallies.

Gator   August 5th, 2009 7:21 am ET

This is all that the Republicans have left to do. It is an organized effort to disrupt any meeting concerning the health care debate. The party of "no" will continue its goal of defeating anything the Democrats try to do even if it hurts the country as a whole.
People forget when Bush was in office that anyone who said anything about Bush was accused of being unpatriotic or a traitor to this country. How soon they forget.

Pragmatic   August 5th, 2009 7:20 am ET

This is a well orchestrated push-back by republicans who want President Obama to fail, and insurance companies who want total control of the health care system. Insurance companies don't care if you live or die ... and if this battle for reform is lost ... they will raise your rates, cut your coverage – with no restraints!

Can you afford to pay more? What if you loose your job? Busing loud mouths, primed with yelling points, whose only purpose is to cause havoc, doesn't move the debate forward.

Mercedes   August 5th, 2009 7:19 am ET

In my opiniom President Obama is doing an excellent job and I think that Republicans should unite to get forward, this is not about party... unity just america, progress and opportunities at all levels.Stupidly repeated over and over you see news or unimportant events ....

B Evans   August 5th, 2009 7:17 am ET

Blame the Republicans for everything...that seems to be the party line. Just because someone doesn't agree with the Government taking over our healthcare and voices their opinion, means they must be Republican. Funny, when Democrats bus people in to disrupt a Republican meeting it is a positive, grassroots campaign that is the backbone of America, but when Republicans supposedly do the same, it is hurtful and wrong. Democrats have such a double standard.

Paul   August 5th, 2009 7:17 am ET

Democrats are doing a pretty good job of it too. No unity, self interest rules.

charlie in Maine   August 5th, 2009 7:06 am ET

As Homer would say "there is no justice like angry mob justice"

Willy Brown   August 5th, 2009 7:01 am ET

Not true but that's the “I’m a victim" democrats.

James   August 5th, 2009 6:56 am ET

What kind of an example are we setting for the future generations. Why are we teaching them that it is okay to mob and heckle those who are trying to conduct the peoples business in a quite and diplomatic way? This type of behavior is not representative of the american way of governing – in the United States we respect the voices of all those who care to participate in the process of making change. The hallmark to a great democracy is not in the few that try to push things by force, but rather from the many who peacefully debate.

Kate in SW Fla   August 5th, 2009 6:54 am ET

I think they need to print and hand out the info frm this groups, including the description of how to disrupt meetings. It is very un-American to deny other citizens the right to discuss, debate and decide for themselves on this issue. This neo-nazi tactic is intimidation. These folks are being fed a constant diet of false, manipulative and misleading disinformation, with the intnet of creating anger and fear. What they do not realize is that this is not 1993. This fear can turn to violence very quickly and is the most undemocratic activity I have seen in my lifetime.

The Party of NO stood calmly by for 8 year while the shrub raped and pillaged America, so, why would we listen to you now?   August 5th, 2009 6:53 am ET

All of these town halls and public forums should be cancelled before someone is injured or worse.

These members of the rabid Reich are just that, rabid. They have proven they are not interested in a civil discourse, but are only interested in "breaking" this black President at any cost.

I am afraid that would even include killing others "for the cause".

doc75   August 5th, 2009 6:52 am ET

I guess it was OK for the DNC to incite angry mobs against Bush?

robert verdi   August 5th, 2009 6:40 am ET

spare me, read a bill next time before you whine about angry voters

ross berg   August 5th, 2009 6:40 am ET

As a lifelong Republican I am very sadened by the self destruction the party continues to inflict upon itself.

This latest move will only backfire again and drive it further into the margins!!

Sad indeed!!

bernice   August 5th, 2009 6:36 am ET

Just like a republican!!...They are a "dying breed" & doing everything they can to destroy O'Bama, IT WON'T WORK!!!
Too bad, the repubs are losers, liers & cheaters..they pray for our country to fail..Is that a true American??NO
A true American would stand behind our president & help him to get us out of this awful mess that a repub put us in!!
HAIL TO OUR CHIEF...HE WILL SUCCEED...

GI Joe   August 5th, 2009 6:32 am ET

There's a number to call the GOP and complain about these thugs creating mob scenes and disrupting the Americans WITH RIGHTS TO ASK QUESTIONS.

It displays on the screen when you see the ad. CALL.

GI Joe   August 5th, 2009 6:30 am ET

DUH – ya think?

The Insurance Companies are paying big bucks for help from the GOP to stop this healthcare reform. They might have to give up their big bonuses if the outrageous premiums stop being paid. And the premiums are going up even now !!

Robert   August 5th, 2009 6:28 am ET

Who is surprised? With no alternative plan of their own, Republicans are taking the usual approach here by playing dirty. These tricks are the only reason Republicans get elected anymore. Angry lies fueling fear and distrust.

Bush used lies and fear against Kerry in 04. I thought it was so obvious that people would have learned not to listen anymore, but there will always be the crazies, I suppose.

VON BISMARK,Vienna.   August 5th, 2009 6:23 am ET

I will be surprised if this will not be followed by assassinations. And of course Obama will be the prime target. This is a veiled conspiracy against him.

Marie MD   August 5th, 2009 6:21 am ET

Once again the repugs have no asnwers to the questions, but their scare tactics continue. These mobs are being set up by insurance lobbying companies in DC.
BTW folks, this IS socialis/communism. I can think of at least two countries, maybe three, where the people are bussed in for demonstrations. Of course, in Curba, North Korean and possibly Venezuela they are there to show support for the government not bring it down!
This is not helping the repug's cause at all.

Marie in California   August 5th, 2009 6:13 am ET

The DNC can stick it in their ear. The people at those town hall meetings are both Democrat and Republican, and they are hardly rabid extremists.

What's coming up at town hall meetings and similar events are simply ordinary, everyday Americans who strongly oppose the way things are going in government these days, i.e., more taxes, more borrowing, more spending when there isn't any money to spend, Obamacare, bailouts, mushrooming debt, increasing government control and regulation, what looks more and more like a welfare state or, as some call it, a nanny state, etc. etc. etc.

Puh-leeeze! Let's get back to the basics of the U.S. Constitution and what used to be the American standard of individual responsibility and personality accountability. With no unearned entitlements.

Tony in Maine   August 5th, 2009 6:12 am ET

I'm surprised to see this reported in the MSM. I assumed that uncomfortable truths about the right would be related to the blogs and a few liberal pundits.

Congratulations CNN, for pulling back the curtains and allowing the sun to shine on this fungus on the body politic.

Heather   August 5th, 2009 6:09 am ET

Here is my question....are they mad because they were asked and honest question?? Whether it be from a "right winged extremist". Or are they mad because they had to either lie and say that they read this bill or that they haven't read it.

Either way, I have heard recordings of the town hall meetings. And yes there was a lot of hoop la, but it was primarily because the idiots couldn't answer a single question!!!

FYI Dems in Washington, we are not all a bunch of Lemurs that are ready to follow you off the cliff. There are some of us that still believe in America and its promise of tomorrow....without the aid of tax payer money for everything!

Ronnie, From New Orleans,LA   August 5th, 2009 6:03 am ET

You should have seen old Bill O , jerk, grinning like a no class constipated grinch, with too much money, but no life Glen Beck, this is what I think of FOX.News.

F=Fake, False,Freaks

O=Obnoxious, obscure,obscene

X=Xenophobic

Channel for mostley White dissruptive, no change, power hungry, Conservitive constipated, no hope Republicans.

Michigan mom   August 5th, 2009 5:55 am ET

The average Republican is being used by the health care lobbies, who want nothing to do with reform. They are being used by Beck and Hannity, who want nothing more than to see Dems fail. They are being used by a bunch of people who truly want poor people and the unemployed to suffer, because to help them might change their own way of life a tiny bit, and they will not tolerate any change in their own status. The accusations hurled at these meetings are not true, yet Republican leaders think if they scare enough people and repeat the mantra enough times, the bill will go down, or at least, be watered down so that the pharma companies will still make their huge profits. So tell me who the Republican leadership wants to help. Not their constituents...just the guys who support their campaigns with the big bucks.

Motive   August 5th, 2009 5:37 am ET

T he Repubs still don't get the fact that we are now living in a post-racial world, and that people are now judged on the basis of what they do and not by the color of their skin.

Rick   August 5th, 2009 5:25 am ET

Well, I for one believe it's about time people talked about this. I've seen it on both sides in rallies and protests, but never was I more terrified of the leadership as when I heard the McCain/Palin supporters yell "Hang him!" and "Terrorist!" when talking about Obama. That kind of speech has no place in a developed, civilized world. So we can either stop pretending we are civilized, or try to show the good example that earned us the respect of the world after being around only 200 years.

jimmy   August 5th, 2009 5:20 am ET

Rubbish!

FRANK, Las Vegas   August 5th, 2009 5:18 am ET

Typical GOP tactics and lies. They are now disrupting town hall meetings by shouting out any conversations. The GOP says once the American people hear about health care, they won't like it. BUT, they know that's a lie. That's why their new tactic is not to allow the American people to hear anything. They know that the American people REALLY Want Health Care, they are scared! The American people now know that these shouters are nothing more than extreme right wing Nuts. The GOP supports the insurance and drug companies, Not the American people. If you want to know why, FOLLOW THE MONEY.

Bobby c   August 5th, 2009 5:05 am ET

The party of no.

Undemocratic   August 5th, 2009 4:59 am ET

These people who are disrupting town halls aren't patriotic and don't seem to believe in a democratic system. Town halls are there so everyone can be heard, not just shouting imbeciles. Unlike the W town halls where you had to sign an agreement to participate, these are OPEN to ALL in the public. Don't abuse this freedom by trying to stifle open and free discussion. That's what dictators do.

What happened to the GOP?

Luke   August 5th, 2009 4:56 am ET

It's not only the GOP. It's United Healthcare, Aetna, Blue Cross and the large pharmaceutical companies who are funding these fanatics via their giant lobbying firms. They are trying to preserve their record profits by gaming the system with lies, distortions, fear and playing to the ignorance of the mob. America is the only civilized country in the world who does not provide health care to everyone. We are the only country which pays private insurance company billions of dollare to exclude people for preexisting conditions and deny them needed treatment. They are spending over a million dollars a day trying to stop any type of bill.

Callie369   August 5th, 2009 4:54 am ET

The democrats are paranoid!!!! First it was the insurance companies hiring us, and now the GOP. Wonder what they will come up with next?

Simple to say, WE DON'T WANT YOUR SOCIALIST HEALTH PLAN. Republicans are educated (as opposed to democrats) and can read and understand the garbage that is being touted as a National Health Plan.

The dems can take their plan and stick it where the "sun don't shine!"

Ron   August 5th, 2009 4:39 am ET

This comes as no surprise. The GOP desires it's political power back, at apparently any cost yet, they fail to understand that America wants to move on...without them!
