ALEXANDRIA, Virginia (CNN) – Former U.S. Rep. William Jefferson of Louisiana was convicted Wednesday on 11 of the 16 corruption charges against him.
Jefferson, a 62-year-old Democrat, was indicted by a federal grand jury on June 4, 2007, on corruption charges, about two years after federal agents said they found $90,000 in his freezer. Authorities said the cash was part of a payment in marked bills from an FBI informant in a transaction captured on video.
Jefferson had pleaded not guilty.
The jury convicted him on four counts of bribery, three counts of racketeering, three counts of wire fraud and one count of racketeering. He was acquitted on five other counts including wire fraud and obstruction of justice.
Jefferson had faced a maximum possible sentence of 235 years in prison if convicted on all counts.

He's a Republican. Somehow I'm not surprised in the least. They are known for their corruption. At least this one is going to pay for his crime.

I was born in Louisiana and believe me, Huey P. Long was just the start of the chain of corruption in that state. Edwards honed it to a fine point but he too is now afraid to pick up soap in the shower!

The FBI had him on video... pretty hard to defend against that kind of evidence.

Let's see how much mileage this gets because he's a black democrat. I say it goes away in a day or so. If this was a white republican, there would be a lynch mob waiting.
It's "odd" the BRIEF article did not publicize the "sentence" ..Oh but wait..he's a POLI-TICIAN (Many-blood suckers) and his cronies will ensure he probably won't serve any time. He'll probably will have the audicity to run for office again. The time is coming, people will NOT forget and will rise up against this kind of audacity and give the POLI-TICIAN's their due.
Let's see if this comment get's published. Other past "POLI-TICIAN" truism comments haven't been published. Suppress all you want but the time is coming.
