WASHINGTON (CNN) - Former presidential candidate Mike Huckabee compares his past weight problem to President Obama's economic policies in a pitch Wednesday for a financial newsletter.
Huckabee, a former Arkansas governor who failed to win the 2008 Republican presidential nomination, charges that the president "is devouring the entire free-enterprise system" and lists Obama's decision to bail out the auto and banking industries as mistakes. The pitch for "Successful Investing" was sent out to readers of the conservative publication Human Events.
Read an excerpt of Huckabee's e-mail after the jump:
President "Obama the Hungry" makes King Henry VIII look like a compulsive dieter!I know something about overeating. It can kill you. Back when I was governor of Arkansas, I was so overweight I developed Type II diabetes. Doctors told me to lay down the knife and fork - or else. That scared me. I cut the calories and lost 110 pounds. Only then did I regain my health.
Does bloat scare Obama? Heck no. He's hungry for more! Fresh from gulping down $800 billion of our money to load up his Washington smorgasbord, he's planning yet another massive banquet. Obama wants to belly up to the table and swallow the best health care system in the world. And you and I will pay the tab for this gargantuan pig-out!
It is probably safe to say that Huckabee, who now hosts a show on Fox News Channel, won't be invited to the White House for dinner anytime soon.

As a veteran, a business owner and a former republican: I am proud of my President, and the vote I cast for him. I am impressed at how quickly the economy has been turning around. People will bring up employment figures, but a moron could tell you that employment rates lag economic recovery. So only an IDIOT would try to FALSELY use employment rates to judge the direction of the market.
The best July in TWO decades for Wall Street. GDP rose and home sales are up. ANY idiot with half a brain can see the signs that Obama INVESTING in america is starting to PROFIT.
Invest and Prosper the democratic way, not Torture and Mass Genocide as the republicans would have us do.
Whenever someone says the stinging truth and you don't like it, make personal attacks! yes, that's the dem way. Huckabee makes sense, which is more than anyone can say for this stupid health care reform bill Obama is trying to ram through congress under the dead of night so we all wake up tomorrow wondering what happened to this so-called economic recovery.
This guy is ____ .You fill in the blank with whatever you want. For me he is a wast of time.
Yeah. Blame somebody for your obesity. Typical Rethuglican party of NO. GOP the hatemongersin at the Healthcare Townhall meetings. Loose your job ,and your health care insurence, get a mega medical bill from, the hospital. This will turn your world upside down and open your eyes. The Retuglicans.
perhaps Mr. Huckabee should send an angry mob to the next place the president has a town hall meeting and shout him down. Seems to be working so far.
Oh those Wacky Republicans, they should take their act on the road. I could see it now, Limbaugh as the circus ring leader, Palin walking a tight rope and Huckabee with his head stuck in an elephant's rear-end!
Republicans are an embarrassment to this country!
Obama
Forever
Yeah Obama is doing a great job. He promised that if they passed the pork-laden stimulus bill that unemployment wouldn't go past 8%. Now it is close to 10%. What do you expect from someone who hasn't had a job in his life that wasn't funded by the government. What a joke.
Huckabee's biggest donors are insurance companies so it's not surprising he's lashing out.
Huckabee you are such a loser! I am amazed by the Republican party trying to destroy our great President. It is obvious that there are not many decent Republicans left. Huckabee is a loser and he should stay out of the public eye. No one wants to hear what he has to say which, by the way, is hogwash! I guess Republicans will send Palin next to tear down our great President, but one thing I can count on is that all of their smear tactics will backfire. You'll see...
Huckabee the latest Republican loser!
I wish the Republicans would stop complaining about EVERYTHING and start offering solutions. It is inexcusable for them to wish harm on our country in a desperate attempt to prove a point and become reelected. Ultimately the people of this country will realize their destructive tactic and hold them accountable.
This is too funny coming from the Huckster who claims he used self-control to lose weight when there is overwhelming evidence he had gastric bypass. So he couldn't even lose weight without surgery and he continues to lie about it.
shut up Gomer Huckabee
How quickly and conveniently it is forgotten that the bailout of the bank and auto industry began with Bush.
And how dare Obama not fix the economy in his first half-year in office? The obnoxious thing is, those crying about Obama's policies being ineffective are 100% aware that if McCain (or their favorite candidate) had taken office, they would require far more than a half year of time to turn around, too. And by all accounts, Obama's policies or not, the market HAS begun turning around.
The GOP has NO ideas, they want NO feedback and ONLY have excuses. Our President was once starting to loose support for the healthcare plan, but now Americans are seeing the light. Let's get behind our President Replublicans, Democrats and Independents and voice concerns in a constructive way so the healthcare bill can be fair to all–not one certain vision.
Everyone brace yourselves.
Now that President Obama's policies are showing the economy has stabilized and is poised for growth the Republicans, who under Bush's gross incompetence got us into this mess, are going to get real jealous.
Those who can–do. Those who can't–lamely criticize.
Face it Huckabee, your whole party is a thing of the past. I'm just glad we got Obama in office before we ended up in Great Depression II.
Huckabee is another corrupt republican who subscribes to the tired, old, ineffective republican way. I'm not disappointed, it is to be expected. Anyone who criticizes Obama at this point has either forgotten the massive mess that he was left to clean up after 8 years of the idiocy that was George W. Bush or is not familiar with Keynesian economics. People want to gripe in horror about the amounts of money that he is choosing to spend when it is actually deemed necessary according to Keyne's economic theory. Makes sense to me despite its being extreme
I didn't vote for Bush and please stop playing the race card, it's getting really old.
Has Obama quit smoking yet? No? Oh that's why he's so skinny.
Gov. Huckabee needs to look back 1 year exactly at the shape the country was in, and President Obama was not in office. No doubt this is a difficult time, and the deficit is abhorrent. But this time at least we're going to pay for some of the spending. Gov. Huckabee and some of his very wealthy friends are going to submit a couple more tax dollars each and we'll get this deficit under control.
What is real tiresome is the fact that when Bush was president you all ran your mouths about how he did everything wrong and you didn't even give the guy a chance. If anyone says anything regarding Obama's performance they are racist or otherwise!
I wonder what Pastor Huckabee will say when he stands before Jesus on the day of judgement about opposing Obama on providing healthcare to "the least of these, My brethren"???
Huckabee: "Best health care system in the world"
We're 37th.
Best for the health insurance company profiteers, rip-off artists and robber barons.
Best for pencil pushing high school diploma insurance company bureaucrats who cancel polices, deny coverage and delay payment to doctors.
Single payer is the best, but a strong public option is a start.
Mr Huckabee, you are not a man of God. "you surely will know them by their fruits". Mr. Huckabee you really don't have the Spirit of the Lord within you. Return to the Lord, He will forgive you.
how about he compares his OBESITY to GLUTTONY! you know, the SIN that his religion preaches against?
Its very clear the majority of CNN posters favor Communism... Huge goverment, instead of a the free market this nation was built on. Do you need a reminder of the failures of communism? I laugh at those pointing their fingers at the "greedy", and everyone is free to invest their money with the likes of Goldman Sachs and share their in the profits of their greed. You only here those on the losing end whining. Greed is what fuels growth. The Do'ers of this country will just take their Greed and their creation of wealth to a new country if there is no longer oppurtunity for profit here.
Well Hallelujia.
Today seems to be one day when we don't have any stories about Sarah Palin.
Nice to have someone else to laugh at for a change.
