(CNN) - Sarah Palin, who has kept a relatively low profile immediately after stepping down as Alaska governor, stepped back into the limelight with a visit to the media capital of the country.

The former Republican vice presidential candidate - in town to meet with the publisher of her upcoming book - dined Tuesday night at New York's storied media haven, Michael's Restaurant, with a group that included husband Todd and attorney Bob Barnett. The party - which arrived without a reservation, according to Michael's Manager Danny DiVella - requested a table in the front of the restaurant. A crowd gathered outside to catch a glimpse of the group through the window.

This morning, a jeans-clad Palin was spotted on 5th Avenue and 55th Street with her husband and daughter Piper, carrying her baby son Trigg. There has been no announcement of when her next public appearance may be.

Palin's first public post-resignation comments came at a National Rifle Association event in Anchorage over the weekend which did not include reporters.

  1. Post always rejected by CNN

Run for the hills New Yorkers, she might want to skin a moose. This woman is the biggest crock of you know what. But then her ego is running full blast. To think she has a chance to even get the nomination for president much less get enough votes...Americans are not in a fog the way they used to be....

Where on God's green earth did you think the Moose-Babe was gonna sit? In the back? C'mon this screed is never gonna simply disappear into private life. She's gonna haunt us with her ignorance forever...and a day.

She complains about the media following and attacking her. Then she goes to a media haven resturant and requests a table in the front she can be seen by all the media.

She deserves all the attention she's gets. Even if it's not wanted.

Enough already! If her book is written in that strange language she speaks, we will need a translating guide published along with it. Will someone please tell me what is so fascinating about this woman!

  8. The pain you are feeling is the truth and it hurts

Come on CNN, I do like the description of Palin in jeans, but leave the woman alone, she is doing nothing wrong.

If you want to post something IMPORTANT to the ticker how about explaining the White House website that is asking CITIZENS to turn in other CITIZENS who have the audacity to disagree with the chosen one by sending their e-mails to the WH so they can review them for "fishy" content?

If this were BUSH, he would be getting skewered and I would have been hammering him as well but it is the fraud in thief, next story.

Nah, it's easier to get me worked about about the thought of Palin in jeans... by the way CNN, if a man was in jeans would you have EVEN MENTIONED IT?

She quit her job and head right to one of the places that she talks so bad about. She goes to the place where she can make sure the media see's her. Wow Pllin is working hard for Alaska just like O.J. was trying to find the killer.
Please run her republicans next time we have an election. She gives me a lot to laugh about. Will she be on SNL this weekend?

In addition to this story being completely non-newsworthy, it was very badly written. The sentences are disjointed – filled with non-sequitors and other grammar errors. CNN needs to hire someone literate to proofread their copy.

Regardless, this sort of breathless, paparazzi reporting belongs to the tabloids and to twitter; certainly not mainstream media.

Is this CNN or TMZ? I mean really. Since when is going to a restaurant in NYC "stepping into the limelight?"

CNN is trying to fuel hate for Palin and it's pathetic.

For someone who hates the "liberal media" and has been extolling the virtues of returning to private life, she certainly is taking great pains to be noticed.

Oh, yes, Sarah just hates the MSM, *hates* them! Riiiight... More like she talks out of both sides of her mouth. She gets adoration from her supporters by talking publicly in speeches against the MSM, then clamors for the attention when she's getting withdrawl symptoms from being out of the limelight for a few days. And her supporters just lap it up. Pathetic.

Could you report each sighting? It's very important that we know where she is at all times.

Here we go again... towing her daughter around in front of the media saying "hey look at us," and tomorrow she will be complaining that the media looked at them.
