(CNN) - Sarah Palin, who has kept a relatively low profile immediately after stepping down as Alaska governor, stepped back into the limelight with a visit to the media capital of the country.

The former Republican vice presidential candidate - in town to meet with the publisher of her upcoming book - dined Tuesday night at New York's storied media haven, Michael's Restaurant, with a group that included husband Todd and attorney Bob Barnett. The party - which arrived without a reservation, according to Michael's Manager Danny DiVella - requested a table in the front of the restaurant. A crowd gathered outside to catch a glimpse of the group through the window.

This morning, a jeans-clad Palin was spotted on 5th Avenue and 55th Street with her husband and daughter Piper, carrying her baby son Trigg. There has been no announcement of when her next public appearance may be.

Palin's first public post-resignation comments came at a National Rifle Association event in Anchorage over the weekend which did not include reporters.

They should be playing the theme song to "The Midnight Cowboy" when she arrives in New York: "Everybody's talkin' – don't hear a word they're saying".

There is another saying with a reference to pigs that she may like better – "You can't make a silk purse out of a Sow's Ear (or whatever other part of the anatomy that you choose)"!

Any way that you look at it – I don't see a silk purse!

Does it seem possible that the book publisher might be not quite so happy with the Palin contract now that Palin is no longer Alaska's governor? Possibly contract terms are being renegotiated?

She's a big gun fan. Since she's in Midtown, let's see if she goes uptown to Harlem where all the guns are at and then let me get her view of the 2nd Amendment after they polka-dot her motorcade.

I thought Sharah hated New York, DC and Hollywood. I mean, those people aren't liked the real America, right? Isn't she afraid she might catch something there?

    Oh yea, money and attention.

    Never mind.

I don't really think the public needs a politician who is so obviously proud of how sneaky she is.

Stop covering everything this idiot does. She will go awy of she does not get attention.
Of course she claims that the media is hounding her, but then make a big thing out sitting where she can be seen, at a restaurant,,and to have the gall to just show up without a reserevation and then ask for a table in the front. If i ahd been the owner I would told her we have a table in the back by the kitchen since you do not ahve a reservation..bet she would have left. This shows her arrogance to come to a place where reservations are needed, without one, and then want a table in the front..apparently she has no upbringing or common sense...but we all knew that....wonder who was taking care of her baby...oh yea the same person that did when she was campaigning..her other kid....STOP COVERING THIS DIM WIT

Who cares. This is seriously non-news.

Palin abdicated her responsibilities in Alaska and has consequently left no doubt in my mind she serves herself.

I hope she runs in 2012. It would be amusing to watch her discombobulated, self-righteous, blow-hard antics be further held up for ridicule as to how far the vitriolic GOP has strayed from America.

If the news media wishes to breathlessly report each time Palin surfaces to espouse her predictable points on guns, God, gays, abortion and the flag, that's fine. I hope they also have the stones to watch her like a hawk.

To reference Molly Ivins, "...we do not hold high expectations for the [governor's] office; it's mostly been occupied by crooks, dorks and the comatose.”

Does anyone smell a rat? The Republicans are up to something with this chick, and mum's the word. By 2010, they will have her smelling like a rose in sheep's clothing. They are counting on those who can't see a moron for the decorations. Let the party begin, for she can draw the media with her knapsack of raw, unintelligible, and often intolerant gibberish. Hail to the Queen of Pretense.

If she really did not matter to you, then you would never have clicked into the story nor taken the time to leave your message. I find it funny VERY funny that people complain and say they want her to go away all the while giving her every story attention...

Human behavior is very very funny
