Employment figures improve

(CNN) - The nation's unemployment rate fell slightly to 9.4 percent in July, the U.S. Labor Department said.

The figures beat most expectations.

Obamaeconomics is coming back to life.
The GOP mobs should go look for a job now and stop all this crazy.

The employment figures would be a lot better if all those Republican goveners stopped cuttings scores of jobs from hard working Americans and diverting the money to their childrens' trust funds.

Although by small percentage points, the unemployment rate is falling and the recession is slowing, both at faster rates than expected by economists. The president has only been on the job for 200 days. Again, why is he getting a C?

Thank you President Obama and the Democratic Congress. The Recovery Act and other stimulus legislation is beginning to work! Now, let's get health insurance reform passed!

Yes improvement! Or could this be the fact that over 650,000 people are dropping off the unemployment insurance this month because their benefits are running to an end here in August 2009? (CNN's own article from 07/17/09).
Yes the unemployment metric is going to continue to improve as these workers drop off the count and slip through the cracks. Congress was supposed to consider extending these benefits before the summer vacation month, but somehow the "crash for clunkers" extension was more important than saving the lives of thousands of displaced workers. Again bailing out the wealthy banks, insurance companies, auto industry and congress's rich campaign contributors is more important than the people.

Considering CNN's right-wing corporate propaganda machine, I'm surprised you even mentioned this.

Obama is beginning to clean up the mess you right-wing skunks left for us during the past 8 years.

And I work in manufacturing ( American autos ) and orders are picking up and we're calling people back from layoff. Thank-you Mr. Obama! And no, we are not union. Contrary to popular belief, most manufacturing is non-union.

Yes, unemployment is ONE TENTH OF ONE PERCENT BETTER, but that sure isnt a good thing.

This number just means that people who have exhausted benefits are not longer being counted and millions have just stopped looking for work. The truth is the truth, and I think we could see a rise in these numbers in the coming months. Liberals will say its Obama saving the economy. But most people know that the stimulus has nothing to do with these numbers because if it did, we wouldn't have passed 8%.

With the way the government is spending we are looking at a very dark future for the country

  11. Good job President Obama

I wonder how the no-sayers will criticize President Obama on this? They certainly find creative but comical ways. Or will they just resort to taking the credit somehow.

But I thought Obama had ruined the economy forever? Surely those numbers can't be correct, must be a typo.

And the fact that the stock market is up almost 3000 points since Obama took office is probably a misprint as well.

Don't listen to this encouraging news! The sky is still falling, really!

This is good news...good to see relief is coming.

It may not come as quickly as the President's 'Give Me More Saturated Fats and Instant Gratification While Ignoring the Values that I Voted for in for in 04' opponents; but it's coming.

Is this all you had to say CNN? Well I guess at least you did mention that there was a decrease rather than your usual fear mongering. At least this is a lot better than those phoney polls that were done last night, allowing people to call in and vote as many times as they wanted just to increase your ratings. Thank you Mr. President, God is with you and that is why there is going to be steady improvement in this economy. We know it didn't happen over night, so why would it end in six months?

Things get worse or stay stagnant = "Obama is a complete failure!!!"

Things get a little better and show signs of improving = "The economy is magic and fixes itself!!!"

Is it any wonder we ignore you GOPers?

  18. while I skeptically believe the numbers

I have seen no evidence of job number improvement

we need jobs mr. pres. (no statistical tricks... we need real results)

I have seen more action of an economy in trouble

flipping foreclosures by realtors, cutting back on services and family activities to make ends meet

Families are making it through, but it isn't nice or pretty

Folks lets not forget this: that this recession started in the Spring of 08 and we had a republican who had no clue. It if funny to now see all the republicans pretending they have the solution to this recession.

Now we have a Democrat in Obama who is fixing it with steady success. Democrats have proven with history that they have a better record with the economy than Republicans.

America will be back and stronger than ever.

  20. President Obama A+

How will the Republican party of No take credit AND criticize President Obama on better than expected job numbers. Stay tuned it will be as crazy as Palin's chatter.

How about that. Bad news for the GOP. It took 8 yrs + for the GOP to get us into this mess and President Obama and the Democrats 200 days to start getting us out of it. Just think what they with our help can do in 8 yrs.

Ah ha! Caught again you republican morons! Wait, exactly WHAT was it that Steele said yesterday? Oh yes, that President Obama's first 200 days sucked and that Friday's jobless report will only prove his point. You proved your point Steele-you are an idiot and you just made your party look dumb. Again.
