Palin: Obama’s ‘death panel’ would decide Trig’s care

On her final day in office, Republican expressed a range of views about Gov. Palin's political future.

(CNN) - Sarah Palin is accusing President Obama’s health care plan of looking to create a “death panel” that would weigh whether her parents or son Trig were “worthy of health care.”

"Americans delve into the disturbing details of the nationalized health care plan that the current administration is rushing through Congress, our collective jaw is dropping, and we’re saying not just no, but hell no!" the former Alaska governor said in a post on her Facebook page late Friday.

In one of her first public policy statements since leaving office late last month, Palin discounted the administration’s view that the president’s plan would cut health care costs. The only path to lower costs, she said, was less treatment.

"And who will suffer the most when they ration care?" she wrote. "The sick, the elderly, and the disabled, of course. The America I know and love is not one in which my parents or my baby with Down Syndrome will have to stand in front of Obama’s 'death panel' so his bureaucrats can decide, based on a subjective judgment of their 'level of productivity in society,' whether they are worthy of health care. Such a system is downright evil."

Conservatives - including Rep. Michele Bachmann of Minnesota, who Palin references in her post - have pointed to a provision in the House health care bill that calls for “advance care planning consultation.” The measure would make available to individuals the option of a consultation with a medical provider who would explain “advance care planning,” if they have not met with a senior medical practitioner within the previous five years. These sessions would be an optional benefit, and would not be mandatory under the legislation.

During these consultations, the doctor would answer questions about care, suggest other professionals to speak with, and offer an explanation of the legal definitions of living wills, powers of attorney and the role of a health care proxy. The doctor would also provide a list of national and state resources devoted to assisting individuals and families with advance care planning; inform people of existing end-of-life services like hospice care, and what sorts of financial benefits are available to help them take advantage of that support; and explain the meaning of different orders that relate to life-sustaining treatment.

The White House has not commented on Palin’s statement, which also takes aim at bioethicist Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel, brother of White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel.

Palin spent most of the past week in New York City with her family, sightseeing and meeting with her book publisher.

OMG....this is an OUTRIGHT lie, but then that is what we have come to expect from this woman. She will say ANYTHING to keep her name in the news and the more outrageous the better.

If ANY of you believe this or a WORD she says you need the serious psychological help that she so much needs.

There is NO death panel, no rationing of care. This is ALL a LIE that the Repubs are using to scare and intimidate. The big insurance companies and lobbies are funding this movement. Do yourself a favor and READ the BILL and see for yourself that what this IDIOT says is not in the bill. This article explains what the Bill says but read if for yourself if you don't believe it. When you do you will see that PALIN LIES.

Oh please....what a bizarre mindset one would have to have to buy into this sort of garbage.
Sarah..quit embarrassing our entire country and let President Obama introduce decent healthcare for everyone...including my own disabled son.

Never in my life time would I think I'd see a president calling on his organizers to "ATTACK" the American people who oppose him. This is not America....that is a KGB tactic. How much "healing" have you seen going on from the White House??? I see a lot more division and a lot more partisan ugliness. This is not what people voted for. When people exercise their right to freedom of speech and your party organizes bus loads of people to go beat them up (SEIU) I call that illegal. The Rahm Emmanuel mafia machine needs to be investigated for the snitch website and these arm-breaking tactics. This is not American...this is a THUG straight up.

The Republicans have been soundly voted out. Sarah Palin abrogated her responsibilities to her State and she is now ranting, but clearly has no workable solutions to offer.

What about all the people who cannot get and/or cannot afford health care now? She is fine, of course. She and her family have health care, so why change the status quo that works for her?

I say why not give something else a chance? If it does not work, the Republicans can dismantle it when they get voted back (LOL) into office.

I don't know that we've seen as ignorant a woman as Sarah Palin get as high in American politics. Her ignorance is truly wacko and to knowingly mislead Americans about health care reform in order to push the crazy Rethuglican agenda is just plain unpatriotic. It is one thing to disagree with government providing a roadmap to healthcare for this country but to actively tell lies about what that program says is unethical. Ignorance is not bliss, especially when everyone will need good quality health care and will need to be able to afford it. Excuse me Sarah, 'death panel' is just a pure lie and these reforms advocate actually being able to provide your son and your mother with care for their entire lives. Stop either being or playing stupid. It's just not attractive.

Another irresponsible rant by the Nut from the North. First, Pres Obama 'hangs around with terrorists.' Now, he has a planned 'death panel' to kill Americans. Put Palin in a crowded theater, and she will yell, "Fire!!"

Mark my words. When a psychologically unstable person makes an attempt on the president's life (after all, Gov. Palin said he was a terrorist and wanted to kill Americans), there will be blood on Palin's hands.

    Enough is enough.
Is this the only thing you republicans know how to do. Play on fear and lies. I am amazed that our country has some people that can be brain washed with these false statements. I question the intellegence of the people who follow these liers. They need to go and read the proposals themselves instead of getting instructions from the big corperations to what to ask in the townhall meetings. I am sad that we might pass on a meaningfull health care reform because of this but again maybe we deserve the disaster that we are destined to if we don't do this reform.

I am disabled and on a Medicare advantage plan. I personally had to wait two years for a specialist appointment because only one physican was available under my plan. If government takes more control, how many more people will have to wait that long for an appointment. In my view, government is already failing with their Medicare policies. They have caused the increase in cost. When they implimented documentation guidelines for physicians, billing charges at least tripled. I worked in medical billing for 20 years and saw this happened. Physicians learned how to document to the highest level of exams for even a simple earache.

"Death panel". What the hell is Palin talking about now. Her ignorance and lack of logic is scary.
Having lived more than a decade in Canada, grown up in the UK, and experienced life in Sweden, and seen universal health care succeed, it baffles me why there is resistance to much needed reform in this country.

She ought to make her book science fiction. This is pretty good stuff.

In a national debate on an important issue like health care, one would hope that Republican eaders like Sara Palin would use facts rather than fiction to support their case.

Better headline would be "Palin: Ficticious 'death' panel..."
Why give credence to the belief there is such a thing at all?
It's just lies, lies, and more lies from the most ignorant citizens.
I'm sick of any news organization even giving them a microphone, especially if they won't report the truth as prominently as the lies.

Palin has once again she is not educated on healthcare issues. She has bought into and is spreading the garbage the Repuglican party is feeding America.

I ask people to please educate themselves on the issues and choose for themselves.
