(CNN) - Despite Sarah Palin's suggestion that President Obama's health care plan will institute "death panels" to evaluate elderly and disabled citizens - a claim that was quickly debunked - her latest message to the public is a bit more conciliatory.
Posting once again on her Facebook page - the former Alaska governor's recent soapbox of choice - Palin on Sunday called on critics of the health care plan to turn down the volume.
"There are many disturbing details in the current bill that Washington is trying to rush through Congress, but we must stick to a discussion of the issues and not get sidetracked by tactics that can be accused of leading to intimidation or harassment," Palin wrote.
Palin, the 2008 GOP vice presidential nominee, was presumably referring to reform critics who have shouted down members of Congress at several town halls around the country over the last week.
House Minority Leader John Boehner and a handful of other GOP leaders have defended the angry reaction at some of the forums.
"Such tactics diminish our nation's civil discourse which we need now more than ever because the fine print in this outrageous health care proposal must be understood clearly and not get lost in conscientious voters' passion to want to make elected officials hear what we are saying," Palin wrote. "Let's not give the proponents of nationalized health care any reason to criticize us."

This is the first thoughtful statement I've ever heard/read from Palin. While supporting her side, she actually makes an intelligent, well-intentioned statement.
As far as the lies she has spread regarding "death panels", etc., she knows full well that once a fear-inducing lie is told to fascists, regardless of any debunking, they will continue to believe. We need to keep in mind that while they may have good intentions on some issues (whether one agrees with their opinion or not), the ultimate goal of Neoconservatives is nothing short of the complete and total destruction of the United States and the Constitution therof.

Because healthcare in the USA is too expensive. 1 million in 2008 alone and counting did MEDICAL TOURISM abroad for different procedure to be done. Example heart valve replacement in the USA is about $200k. With insurance, after deductibles and co-pay you’ll still have about $30-40k out of pocket to pay. Simple math, same procedure in India is $10k everything included. $10k and someone didn’t involve their health insurance; yes people are taking the risk for affordable healthcare.

To clarify:
1. Illegal immigrants will NOT be covered by the health care reform.
2. Elderly Americans will NOT have to go see a "death doctor"...they do have the option of having a meeting with their doctor to discuss a living will, but it is optional not manditory.
3. The Health Care Exchange would simply make indivudual policies conform to the rules that employer provided group policies already play by: NO Rescission, and NO denying based on pre-existing conditions.

Why do we have to be subjected to the idiotic mutterings of Sarah Palin? Even Dick Cheney and his foolish daughter Liz have been thankfully silent the last little while. Discussion is great for the topics affecting our country and our lives--but it needs to be rational and thoughtful discussion; which is beyond the capabilities of the Palins or the Cheyneys.
I've seen several reputable government and nonpartisan sources that indicate the fears of the town hall screamers were never actually necessary. They're yelling about stuff they heard from commentators with agendas, chain e-mails and "telephone game" conversations. Instead of asking questions, they yell too loudly at town hall meetings to hear any answers from the very people writing the proposed legislation. I oppose the legislation in the current draft form, as best as I understand it, but I am confident I gathered the information on which I base my opinion from reasonable sources.
All that said, the Democrats won the election. Now they get to call the shots for a few years, the way the Republicans did while they controlled the executive and legislative branches of our government. If this means our nation collapses (snicker), then we don’t deserve to exist as a nation anymore.

I genuinely don't understand why people in America are afraid of universal health care. Here in Canada when I need medical treatment of any sort – an operation, a cast for a broken bone, a regular doctor's appointment – I just hand them my Medicare card and that's the end of it. No questions about how I'll be paying, no hassles with insurance companies.

So here are some issues that need discussing: having absolutely no rationing of care whatsoever is economically infeasible, providing some level of care to all citizens provides a healthier more productive workforce that reduces uncompensated ER care, any insurance (especially health insurance) functions under principals of socialism, a single payer system gives consumers (i.e. patients) the most bargining power and allows them to dictate prices set by producers (i.e. health care providers).

I belive thewone fact people seem to be overlooking is that insurance companies are for FOR profit companies and they are not philanthropic - any overhaul of the system will require that to be taken into consideration. I was listening to NPR over the weekend and a guest was a former Aetna (I believe) employee, who has retired. It was very interesting and sad. He was discussing some of the worst cases he had become aware of - patients being denied surgeries, procedures, etc. since it was decided by the insurance company that it would be too costly, and they tried to not have to pay. The patients he discussed ultimately died. I understand our health care system is very involved, and there are so many horror stories of good people who have been screwed by the insurance companies - and our current system allows this to occur. The far right crazies need to look into the mirror and ask if they want to be part of the solution or will continue to be part of the problem.
How ironic after using language like "death panels" and saying Obama's health plan with basically kill people with Down syndrome- that kind of outrageous language stirs up the hostile reaction at the town hall meetings- Sarah Palin has no credibility and is a huge hypocrite- I pray she will never be elected to anything ever again- God help us all if she is.

I am no fan of hers, but it's good to hear her talking sense for once.
Someone from the Rebublican party must have talked to Ms. Palin, since she isn't wise enough or smart enough to ask folks to calm down on her own. This is not her style, but for whatever reason, thank goodness she finally said something rational. I watched part of the town meeting with Senator Claire McCaskill. It was nice to see the crowd from Missouri behaving in a thoughtful and constructive manner. What I don't understand was seeing the number of "white hairs" showing such concern. Medicare isn't going anywhere, with the exception of those ridiculous Advantage programs. Do folks truly understand that, not only are they paying premiums from their social security allotment, but the Federal Government (that's you and me, folks) are also paying the insurance companies who participate in these plans? My husband has Medicare and a cost effective tie-in plan, and we have never paid a dime for any of his medical care. Seems there are just too many people who don't understand the particulars in the health care reform bill.
Maybe before claiming that there is anything outrageous in it, she should read it. Otherwise her claims are empty, just like many of the yahoos who are shreiking and bellowing about the plan. They haven't read it either, they are just following marching orders from their Limbags and Fauxes.

I find myself strangling agreeing with Sarah on this one. All the screaming and yelling have not allowed citizens to ask their questions or get answers to their questions. And with all the aggressive protesting closing down townhall meetings, I wonder how many great suggestions and ideas on how to reform our healthcare system were missed in the melee. People need to start acting like adults, come together to peacefully and thoughtfully discussion concerns, options, and new ideas to improve healthcare access, delivery, and costs. One such discussion that needs to take place is the one on personal responsibility for your own health. Self inflicted health problems are draining our healthcare funds and people need to start changing their behavior as well. Not a pleasant topic but one that needs to be discussed.
Evidentially she needs to choose her words more wisely because she has constantly made incorrect or inflammatory comments that really get her followers in a uproar and brings out anger and hatred from her speeches.

Do you similarly slight Al Gore's gripes on global warming via film? By my last count there are five health care reform bills in congress. Two in the senate, three in the house. None have been reconciled or even voted on.

The opponents of health care reform are people who resent the idea of paying taxes to support the uninsured and less fortunate. My wife and I cannot afford health insurance despite jobs that required college degrees. We work as hard as anyone but are able to just make ends meet and would welcome any assistance that the government could offer. I never see anything helpful offered by the far right, except loud criticism, name-calling, and inaccurate information. The idea of concentration camps for republicans who "speak their minds" and a policy of killing the elderly to save money is ridiculous but is believed by this minority. There are now web sites that advocate the killing of "liberals intent on destroying America" and there will be violence at these meetings if this behavior continues.

This legislation could literally be the difference between life and death for some Medicare participants and elderly people who understand that health care rationing would leave them with inadequate care.

The Insurance Companies already have death panels.
My father's bone marrow transplant was denied by the Insurance Company because he was too old even though he was a good candidate.
It's time for the doctors to make the medical decisions – NOT
the Insurance Companies.
My suggestion is to suspend all health care for Senators and Congressperson and let them try and get good health care with
our current health care system. I am tired of my tax dollars going to pay for their insurance coverage and NOT mine.
I'm sure we get health care reform right away.
