(CNN) - Despite Sarah Palin's suggestion that President Obama's health care plan will institute "death panels" to evaluate elderly and disabled citizens - a claim that was quickly debunked - her latest message to the public is a bit more conciliatory.
Posting once again on her Facebook page - the former Alaska governor's recent soapbox of choice - Palin on Sunday called on critics of the health care plan to turn down the volume.
"There are many disturbing details in the current bill that Washington is trying to rush through Congress, but we must stick to a discussion of the issues and not get sidetracked by tactics that can be accused of leading to intimidation or harassment," Palin wrote.
Palin, the 2008 GOP vice presidential nominee, was presumably referring to reform critics who have shouted down members of Congress at several town halls around the country over the last week.
House Minority Leader John Boehner and a handful of other GOP leaders have defended the angry reaction at some of the forums.
"Such tactics diminish our nation's civil discourse which we need now more than ever because the fine print in this outrageous health care proposal must be understood clearly and not get lost in conscientious voters' passion to want to make elected officials hear what we are saying," Palin wrote. "Let's not give the proponents of nationalized health care any reason to criticize us."

Unbelievable. She winds people up with fictitious "death panels" and tells them to "stick to a discussion of the issues". Practice what you preach. Please.
Since when does the President of the United States tell people opposed to his policies to "shut up and get out of the way"??? Imagine if President Bush had said that to Cindy Sheehan or CODE PINK? I think Republicans should organize. They should organize protests and boycotts of the network news and CNN for CENSORING honest people who are upset for good reason. All of you should be ashamed. This is your country and you're just handing it over to the radical left of the DNC. How ridiculous is it for a community organizer i.e. OBAMA to condemn community organizers for protesting their government??? He has spent his LIFE organizing people to protest the government...now he's telling people to shut up and get out of the way?
How much more divided can this country get??? It does not matter who is in power. If the Republicans were to win next election all we're going to hear about is WHINE WHINE WHINE from the DNC until they buy their way into office again. This whole entire system needs to be fixed. Somebody should move the White House out of Washington and start over. This is getting really annoying.
Be afraid, be very afraid!
So she steps down to focus on her book deal and have no consequence of her horrible rhetoric. She a loose cannon and a danger to our country.
Well Sarah:
If you would honor our brave troops and quit makin' stuff up and stop dragging your family into everything, maybe we could have a civil discourse.
Who wrote those sentences for her? They were coherent! She keeps becoming more and more a tragic farce, a cartoon, a Jerry Springer Show castoff. I feel sorry for her family.
She would have promoted restraint better by not publicly accusing the government of plotting mass murder on its own citizens. "Death Panel," indeed. Hypocrisy, thy name is Palin.
But I'm glad she spoke up, because when Sarah Palin puts in her two cents on an issue, it officially jumps the shark. The idiocy of the claims being made by the fearmongering right wing can no longer be ignored. Thank you, Sarah, for shining a light on just how outrageous - and malicious - those claims are.
Wow, she has the nerve. Insighting riots and posting misleading information. The thought of this woman near the white house is scary.
She knew then what she state was wrong and would cause an uproar and now she wishes to moonwalk her way of this mess.
Its really ashame people actually take that woman serious.
So any time the Left has a problem they just quote Sarah Palin? It's the Democrat's bill in the house and we should be quoting and fact checking them. So do your job CNN. The Sarah Palin story should be written by the folks at People Magazine.
The Republicans are irrelevant since the Democrats dominate the House, Senate and Presidency. What is the hold up Democrats? Pass the bill!!! You wanted the power now make a decision.
Palin said, "Pipe down?"
Maybe she should have practiced that mantra while she accused Obama of being a terrorist sympathizer at every campaign stop?!
Outrageous healthcare proposal, Sarah? Do explain it, instead of discounting it out-of-hand politically, please! What? You can't?! Why now, there's a stunner!!!!!!
An interesting comment from Palin–tone it down. The shouting matches at the town halls mimic the exact style of "discussion" she led and inspired during the campaign until McCain toned her down.
What a tic, isn't this after Queen Crazy got her followers all rabid with fallacies of "death panels and elderly euthanasia"? What a piece of work...
who cares what {Palin says.
she gets an audience anytime she wants it.
Facebook? Was that her big plan for quitting the governorship?
Wow. This woman made a name for herself by inciting the hatred and fear that is behind these vituperous outbursts, and now she has the nerve to tell the monsters she created to be quiet? Just, wow. Why must the media hang on every word this dimwitted tin-pot wannabee has to say?
why don't we just gas the hypocrits
Sarah,
You can help to tone down the rhetoric by keeping your nose out of this. We don't need quitters in the debate. We need intelligent people with real ideas on how to solve this issue. One day you post a ridiculous claim and the next day your trying to tell people to tone down the talk. Why don't you put in a call to Rush,Boehner, McConnell and Hannity if you really want to do something constructive!!
... and the second stage of the GOP's plan begins...
First whoop up the crowd with memos, letters, and horribly misleading commercials to get your dissatisfied minority to start causing trouble.
Second, come riding in like the cavalry as the 'voices of reason' to quell the unrully mobs they started.
Its brilliant!
So, Palin( a conservative) claims essentially, that the Obama Administration will put to death anyone disabled, elderly or otherwise "non-productive member of soceity" and then has the gall to tell her fellow conservatives "....but we must stick to a discussion of the issues and not get sidetracked by tactics that can be accused of leading to intimidation or harassment," Palin wrote.
To any conservative with a rational mind, do you see the problem here? She is representing you.
This from the Queen of incitement. Lest we forget the ol' "pals around with terrorist" line? Where do you think the "Birther" movement got it's footing? Problem with the GOP is that they have become the party of NO... NO PLAN! No plan for anything that ails this country because they think the status quo is just fine... and it is for them. But Change won on election night and these Dems better grow a pair and get the Change stuff on the road! PRONTO!
She'd better keep her mouth shut. The Death Panel is listening and they're not happy with her. Wink wink! You Betcha! Have a nice day!
Standard pattern for demagogues. Spread the poison, then get all pious about the need for civility. She is really quite dangerous. I note that Newt is still sucking up to her: what a pair.
Opposite day? Palin lies, incites evil deceit, and puts her innocent baby into the fray, and she somehow thinks that is restraint?
One can only hope Palin may have learned from her wrongdoing in hindsight, but many Americans remain to be convinced of her capacity or even willingness for civil discourse after those rallies.
Sarah just totally disgusts me!!! She lobs offensive insults and terms into the middle of the fray and then tries to pretend that it wasn't her! Why do people still care to listen to this joke of a person?!?!
This woman makes me laugh anytime she opens her mouth.....i have never seen such an ignorant and not only that, having even more ignorants following her.
It is time for American to read and participate in a civil manner. can Republicans do that? or at least make suggestion to improve the Bill?
Really ? Does that nitwit now understand that the angry mob who takes its script from the insurance companies and the GOP politicians who receive millions from them that the tide is turning AGAINST them. We need public option now !
