Palin urges restraint at town hall meetings

Palin on Sunday called on critics of the health care plan to turn down the volume.
Palin on Sunday called on critics of the health care plan to turn down the volume.

(CNN) - Despite Sarah Palin's suggestion that President Obama's health care plan will institute "death panels" to evaluate elderly and disabled citizens - a claim that was quickly debunked - her latest message to the public is a bit more conciliatory.

Posting once again on her Facebook page - the former Alaska governor's recent soapbox of choice - Palin on Sunday called on critics of the health care plan to turn down the volume.

"There are many disturbing details in the current bill that Washington is trying to rush through Congress, but we must stick to a discussion of the issues and not get sidetracked by tactics that can be accused of leading to intimidation or harassment," Palin wrote.

Palin, the 2008 GOP vice presidential nominee, was presumably referring to reform critics who have shouted down members of Congress at several town halls around the country over the last week.

House Minority Leader John Boehner and a handful of other GOP leaders have defended the angry reaction at some of the forums.

"Such tactics diminish our nation's civil discourse which we need now more than ever because the fine print in this outrageous health care proposal must be understood clearly and not get lost in conscientious voters' passion to want to make elected officials hear what we are saying," Palin wrote. "Let's not give the proponents of nationalized health care any reason to criticize us."

How can Boehner talk about "civil discourse"? It is his MASSIVE LIES about the policy that have gotten people so worked up and confused! You have misinformed them, what did you expect?

    To clarify:
    1. Illegal immigrants will NOT be covered by the health care reform.

    2. Elderly Americans will NOT have to go see a "death doctor"...they do have the option of having a meeting with their doctor to discuss a living will, but it is optional not manditory.

    3. The Health Care Exchange would simply make indivudual policies conform to the rules that employer provided group policies already play by: NO Rescission, and NO denying based on pre-existing conditions.

This is coming from the GOP flame-thrower herself. Once again, the stupid one has spoken without thinking and now she's trying to get her foot out of her mouth. I don't believe she's sincere. I'm sure she now realizes that her stupid comment has energized the other side. Now she wants to turn down the rhetoric. I'm willing to bet that she will say something worst tomorrow as soon as she has a microphone in her face. Republicants, Let me give you this warning one more time, the other side has capacity for anger, vitriol, and disdain too. So bring it on! We voted for change, and by God, we're going to get it.

Obviously, is not playing with a full deck. She was likely informed that her face book rant discussing "death panels" sounded like it was written by a un-informed fourth grader.

I say the best thing to do is to let her just keep talking.........................

Is this the same Palin who slammed the media for going after her kids then USES her baby Trig to the media for LIES???

Her supporters wonder why the left is so vocal and critical about this woman if she's considered a non-factor.....it's no different than watching a train wreck...you can't keep from watching it despite trying to wave off the engineer.

Why do you and the other media services keep reporting on this nut job? Who cares what she thinks or says. She is not and never will be a serious political fixture; just like Newt Gingrich.

Me thinks Sarah Palin is trying to have it both ways..I was a defender of Palin( not a supporter) until her twitter "death panel" comments.. I think she needs to decide what side of the fence she is on..and stop blowing with the wind.

This is a joke, right? The voice of the GOP goon squad, and source of countless vitriolic statements about our President, calling for calm?

Why? So she can tell bold face lies about the Health Care Reform? Riddle me this Sarah. How do you reconcile your republican individualist beliefs with the teachings of Christ? Shouldn't you be for providing health care to the millions of Americans who need it? Why would you Lie about the current form of the health care bill knowing that is also against your beliefs (aka death panels)? Does the end justify the means?

Wow....... Thank you, Gov. Palin! That's the nicest thing you have said!

What I do not understand is what has happened to CIVILITY? Why have Americans become angry, bitter, people?

How IS IT that Conservatives whom are CHRISTIANS, can behave so hateful??

Let's discuss healthcare in a SANE manner. I pray that the GOP will STOP....... the hate, lies, fear and division, before they destroy our nation's Union!

How does private citizen Sarah Palin know so much insider detail about Obama's health plan? I say to her as she said herself to the media just a few, short weeks ago, "quit makin' stuff up."

What a loser. She is a liar also. I would like her to point out where the "death panels" are located at in this bill.
