Palin urges restraint at town hall meetings

Palin on Sunday called on critics of the health care plan to turn down the volume.
Palin on Sunday called on critics of the health care plan to turn down the volume.

(CNN) - Despite Sarah Palin's suggestion that President Obama's health care plan will institute "death panels" to evaluate elderly and disabled citizens - a claim that was quickly debunked - her latest message to the public is a bit more conciliatory.

Posting once again on her Facebook page - the former Alaska governor's recent soapbox of choice - Palin on Sunday called on critics of the health care plan to turn down the volume.

"There are many disturbing details in the current bill that Washington is trying to rush through Congress, but we must stick to a discussion of the issues and not get sidetracked by tactics that can be accused of leading to intimidation or harassment," Palin wrote.

Palin, the 2008 GOP vice presidential nominee, was presumably referring to reform critics who have shouted down members of Congress at several town halls around the country over the last week.

House Minority Leader John Boehner and a handful of other GOP leaders have defended the angry reaction at some of the forums.

"Such tactics diminish our nation's civil discourse which we need now more than ever because the fine print in this outrageous health care proposal must be understood clearly and not get lost in conscientious voters' passion to want to make elected officials hear what we are saying," Palin wrote. "Let's not give the proponents of nationalized health care any reason to criticize us."

Sarah Palin is a disgrace of a human being. Behind her pretty face and persona of being a decent human being is an ill-informed, spiteful menace that incites the ignorance in people by making statements that have no basis in reality but serve only to instill fear. She has no substance, so she relies on sensationalism instead.

Sarah Palin is showing more leadership and knowledge on today's issues than Barack Obama, that's for sure.

What is she talking about: "because the fine print in this outrageous health care proposal".

She obviously hasn't even read any of the proposal yet (what fine print?) according to some of her previous statements. If she had read it – and adheres to Christian beliefs – she would be for the proposal because it takes care of ALL PEOPLE with out the PROFIT PREJUDICE of the Insurance Companies!!!!!

Palin doesn't need to twitter – because she IS a TWIT.

There is no way I'd vote this lady and I'm a Republican. President Obama has a Law Degree From an Ivy league School HELLO!!!! And he uses his knowledge very well.

2016... I'm all for Secretary of State Hillary Clinton now she's gaining the experience and the Knowledge. President Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton knew exactly what they were doing... Keep the White House in the Democrats hands for another 8 years...

Mrs Palin can see Russia From her Window.... I think some screws are missing upstairs

Trig's healthcare is free to him and protected under the Americans with Disabilities Act which Palin gets a disability check every month for him. Either Palin is misinformed or she's just a liar and is attempting to recant her statement. That's why I urge Americans to be informed for themselves and not listen to all the negative.

Sarah posts on Facebook, and within minutes CNN et al report this as real "news".? This is both a statement and a question. Is this what the national news media have devolved to?

I realize that replying to this story gives it further credencebut, i can't help but wonder out loud how such a " silly incompetent" person was ever elected to the Governor's office in the first place. The woman is a publicity hound who will do and say anything to get her name in the papers.

She's been doing this ever since she's been brought out into the spotlight. First she says something absolutely outrageous that would scare anyone with an IQ less than 80 (all her supporters), then she steps back saying that over-reacting is wrong and not productive.

I have no idea how anyone can take this dimwit seriously.

Has this idiot even read the proposed bill. There is nothing in there about death panels, does she even have a clue what a Living Will is and why people need to have this option. Sarah the most Ignorant Woman in the World!

Sarah Palin and all the other right-wing nuts are spreading lies and propaganda about health care reform while claiming to reporting only truth. When did Republicans start lying and making up stories about their political opponents? I also would like to know why health care reform was part of the Nazi war machine. I don't remember Hitler for creating accessible health care and affordable insurance. Sarah needs to do some reading, maybe books.

Palin's only goal is to get in the news every day. Her venomous, lying accusations against our elected President and Democratic Congress are anti-American at best; treasonous at worst.

Who cares what this shallow, self-obsessed, divisive woman says – she has zero credibility and even less respect.

Boener and the republicans don't realize that the "Scare Tactics" may work on the uneducated hillbillies, but the don't work on people who are really looking for positive messages and positive things in a time of such uncertainty. The Republicans have played on our fears and biases, and prejudices for many years. I refuse to allow them to scare me anymore. I am writing a book right now entiteled, "You don't scare me Anymore".. In this book I am letting them know that we don't fear the unknown anymore. I refuse to be afraid of what could actually turn out to be beneficial in the long run. I am also advising that it will take more than 6 months (as my president has said many times) to get out of the 8 yr old mess.... CNN, I really wish you all would cover more positive things that President has done. Stop playing into what the negative people want you to do... You all are becoming kind of frustrating to watch and listen to as well.

So the first statement is: Obama is going to turn the American Healthcare system into a Nazi mass killing machine, then her next statement is that protestors should be more civil in the face of this threat she has identified. Yeah... makes perfect sense...... Talk about flip-flop.....
