Obama's political arm release new health care video

WASHINGTON (CNN) – President Obama's political operation released a new Web video Friday highlighting the story of a cancer patient whose insurance coverage was taken away after she was diagnosed with the disease.

The two-minute video, produced by Organizing for America, criticizes the insurance industry's practice of rescission - "a policy of retroactively canceling health insurance after a patient becomes ill." The video shows the story of Robin Beaton, a retired nurse from Waxahachie, Texas, who was told days before her scheduled double mastectomy to remove cancerous tumors that her insurance plan had dropped her coverage.

OFA released the video in advance of Obama's health care town hall meeting in Montana where he will talk about the issue of rescission.

I WORK everyday, have since I was 16. Taxes get taken out of my check just like everyone else.

I have a fantastic "foot in the door" job that unfortunately does not offer health insurance. Yet.

And given my family history and my medical history as a child, I am uninsurable.

So what about people like me? I 'm not lazy. I'm productive. I work hard. I contribute. I wish there was a plan I could purchase.

Right. But under Obama's plan you'll get denied (or postponed) your healthcare up front due to rationing. "Got cancer? Here take some pain pills and call us next year – if necessary." No need to wait for denial of service from an insurance company when the government can deny your care up front. "Change you can..." ahhh, shut up!

As a Canadian I am watching the histrionics and paranoia surrounding this debate with dumbfounded disbelief. This is not as big a deal as going to War and you seem to have accomplished that without too much trouble. Your health care delivery system really "sucks" from my perspective.. There is no other way to put it. I just want to shake all of you into some sense of reality. Your President is right – it needs fixing. Work together and get it done,

I think Obama is missing the point. The Dems, bluedogs and Reps are all in favor of reform that will eliminate this type of problem. If he would set aside the government option from the proposed bills, we would have a bill in place correcting issues like this.

How is this for reality. The phone lines at congress are full. The email is down. you can not call or write.
Thank you Americans for fighting our president on this and telling him he is wrong.
This is not Kenya. Sorry he did not like is childhood.
Sorry that he did not like his country.
Sorry that he hates the United States of American and all the freedoms and liberty it stands for.
I am sorry he is a socialist at heart.
    All Congressmen,
Vote No on health care reform.
We do not need more goverment involvement.
We need them to stay out of it. Now and forever.
    God Bless the American People.

People if you will stop listening to the negative and start and find out things for yourself then maybe we will get somewhere. But unfortunely people will believe what they want to even when the truth is starring them in the face. its this simple if you want health care reformed you will not listen to the negative because your mind is made up and if you dont want it you will listen to the negative because your mind is made up YOU DONT WANT IT BUT IS THAT RIGHT!

If health care reform will really "cost too much," if the government really "can't run anything right," and if we really need to "get the government out of the way" and let the private sector run things...

Then why don't we take the Pentagon away from the Federal government and let Haliburton run it instead?

Just think of all the Federal tax dollars that could be saved if all military funding came from the private sector.

Obama's 'view' of the bill is vastly different from the only bill that's been posted. FACT...

Did you know that the committee leaders (DEMS) have blocked no less than 5 bi-partisan plans submitted by members? They don't want a good bill...they want a public option (at any cost) so it eventually kills the private industry and they control 16% of our GDP and our lives.

    We need fiscal responsibility.

  13. Better do something

The new healthcare plan with the public option would free people to be more entrepreneurial and thus create a lot of new jobs.

People will be able to leave their jobs without having to worry about losing health insurance for their family especially if someone in their family had developed a medical condition that would keep them for getting other insurance. They can buy affordable health insurance and be free to take a chance with starting their own business.

Obama – Please stay strong and fight for healthcare reform with the public option. It would be terrible if it did not pass because of the terrible lies that are being told by the extreme right wing and special interest groups – so much stupidity and greed it is unbelievable.

It is a well known fact that only dissatisfied people protest. It is rare for people who are content or in favor of an issue to come out in force. Just as it was easy to morph Sadam Hussein into Osama Bin Laden and scare people into backing an invasion of Iraq, it is easy to scare people into believing that health insurance reform will morph into death panels. Playing on peoples fears are what get this country into trouble. As someone with a pre-existing condtion I can tell you that I can not get health insurance anywhere. Yes, I work I do not want a hand out. My place of employment does not provide health insurance so I must go out into the market and purchase some. No one will insure me even though my illness has been completely under control for 15 years, Something needs to be done.. If you claim to be a "Christian" then you should be for something that helps others. Jesus helped those who could not help themselves. He never said do it on your own.

I'm afraid that even though the American people are overwhelmingly against the Health Care Reform Bills coming put of Congress, that Congress and Obama are going to cram it down our throats anyway. This is going to be a major punishment for voting them in office in 2008. I only hope the American people can make up for this mistake before it's too late in the upcoming elections.

The administration and Congress is lying (big surprise! that's never happened before). There's no way to insure 46 million people and have it cash neutral as the administration is saying. You can't save your way to a trillion dollars. A trillion dollars! $1,000,000,000,000. Do some math (the administration isn't so you may as well). The Congressional Budget Office says it won't be cash neutral. And the top 2% of earners (those who make over $250,000 – ie. "the rich") don't make enough to cover a trillion dollars to pay for it all. Something smells really bad and the administration is trying to fast track it all through before anyone can even read the plan – let alone understand it. And all the TV campaigning... Obama is on every day. Like a sitcom. And all his community organizer TV commercials selling the healthcare plan. Since when does the president lobby the people for his programs. The government is supposed to represent the will of the people not ram their own will down our throats. 3 years 5 months to some change I can believe in...

If the government really can't run ANYTHING right, then the governmnet shouldn't be running our military.

We really don't have the money for health care reform, than we don't have the money to buy more guns, tanks, ships, planes and bombs either.

If the private sector is really that much more efficient at running things than our Federal government, then the Pentagon should be run by the private sector and not by our government.

The GOP has practically bankrupted this country, going from a healthy surplus to a huge deficit in a mere 8 years. THEIR idea of health care reform was to pass a hugely expensive and UNFUNDED medicare RX program, and deny expanded preventive care to kids. Now, we actually have a chance to do something to bend the cost curve downwards and they are all against it. How do they think we are going to pay for all this healthcare when the gigantic wave of boomers get in Medicare too? It will cost 3 times what it costs now. Morons. Instead of working WITH the democrats, they have dug in their heels, won't budge an inch and are determined to stop it – all to "Break Obama." I will never vote for another Republican again, ever.

illegals will be covered under his plan by one of two ways.

1-they haven't repealed the law that says you HAVE TO be treated in an ER so they'll just go there

2-with his "path to citizenship" Obama will cover them through the public option he wants.

How people on the left don't see this i don't get it, unless they enjoy our country being overrun by illegals.

As a member of your Armed Forces, I am ashamed of how this debate has turned out. You make me want to take my uniform off.

There was a time when slavery was the right thing to do. There was a time when segregation was the right thing to do. There was a time when lynching was the right thing to do – but we suffered through the changes and became a better nation. 2008 we suffered through $26B in foreign aid – but we suffered through it and for that, we are a better nation. 1985 we raised $63M in aid fof Africa – we suffered through it and became a better nation. So why is it so difficult for us to be Americans, once again, and suffer through this to help our fellow countrymen?

Sure the health care system needs reform, just not this bill they want passed. Terrible, terrible, terrible. Get back to the drawing board and get us a better one than this. And next time seek the input of the citizens instead of crafting a bad bill and trying to rush it through.
