WASHINGTON (CNN) – Three new national polls released over the past 24 hours indicate that just over half of all Americans approve of how President Obama's handling his job.
Fifty-one percent of people questioned in an NBC News survey released Tuesday night, in a Pew Research Center poll released Wednesday morning, and in the Gallup daily tracking poll released Wednesday afternoon approve of how Obama is handling his duties in the White House.
The president's disapproval rating stands at 37 percent in the Pew poll, 40 percent in the NBC News survey and 41 percent in the Gallup daily tracking poll, and
The 51 percent approval rating is down from an average of 54 percent at the end of July in a CNN Poll of Polls and down from an average of 61 percent in a CNN Poll of Polls from late June. The CNN Poll of Polls is an average of the most recent national surveys.
The Gallup daily tracking poll was conducted August 16-18, with approximately 1,600 people questioned by telephone. The survey's sampling error is plus or minus 3 percentage points.
The NBC News poll was conducted August 15-17, with 805 adults questioned by telephone. The survey's sampling error is plus or minus 3.5 percentage points.
The Pew Research Center poll was conducted August 11-17, with 2,010 people questioned by telephone. The survey's sampling error is plus or minus 2.5 percentage points.

Talk is cheap, many people are just realizing that. This is a guy who has no backborn and has repeatedly chose to vote present on tough issues. Well, even the media is asking tough questions, now that he has given all the speeches, reality is setting in, and it is a sad state of affairs.
His current approval rating is fine. He will climb back up as soon as he gets health care reform done. He is a great president and is doing all he can do. However, he can not compete with the embeciles that are spewing misinformation and hatred. The cream will rise to the top and once again the "embeciles" will be defeated.
His rating should be 100%. Too bad the other 49% are RepubliKlan Idiots who only have their own interests in mind and not the entire countrys. This man has more to help his country in the last 8 months than was done in the last 8 years.

The approval rating would go up if he'd stop playing nice-nice with the stupid Republicans, who will never meet him halfway on anything. He's given them every chance at working together and they'll have none of it, so time to kick them to the curb and get business done despite them.
Republicans always cheer when Obama's ratings go down... but they should check the ratings for the GOP. Those go down more than Obama's do. Just because people are dissatisfied with him doesn't mean they're turning to the Republicans, and that's a *very* bad sign for the GOP.

Mr. President you get it through with a "TRUE" public option and the masses will applaud your vision, this time we choose health and life over a war of choice.

I wish could have been included in the poll maybe President mite have a differance in 51.5 percent approval rating. President Obama is doing a great job, all the bull he took over. I voted for Barack Obama, and I continue to support him. I have complete confidence in him, but I'm losing confidence in the other Dems who SHOULD be doing something more with the power we gave them. They need to stop appeasing and start flexing some muscle.

I don't know about you, but the "hope and change" is working quite well for me. Stock market is up. GM is hiring back workers. Health care reform WILL get passed. We are respected in the world again. We are getting out of Iraq. We have a president who can speak coherent sentences and doesn't take month-long vacations. The vice president hasn't shot any of his friends on some hunting trip. I understand why his poll numbers are down, but no worry. Dems may need to go it alone– with control of the white house and both houses they could have done it from the start. At least they can say that they tried to work with the opposition but Repubs just stalled and whined.
To health care reform they said NO. in offering health care co-ops instead of a public option they said NO.

CNN front page had approximately 225 000 people answer the other day on a single question. I'd rather believe the latter, way more than the first.
We think President Obama is doing a great job – a very hard job considering all that was wrong when he started in January. He is our President and we support him and pray for him everyday.
