RNC raises more than $6 million in July

'The RNC continues to mount a very effective fund-raising effort,' RNC chairman Michael Steele said in a statement released Thursday.

WASHINGTON (CNN) - The Republican National Committee reports it raised more than $6 million last month.

In a statement issued Thursday morning, the RNC says it now has $21.8 million cash on hand and no debt. The statement also says the average donor contribution through the end of July was $42.

"The RNC continues to mount a very effective fund-raising effort and we are extremely thankful to the Americans who have contributed to the financial success of our Party. The Republican Party will be successful in the coming elections this fall and in 2010 thanks to the generosity of our donors," said RNC Chairman Michael Steele, in a statement.

The RNC raised more than $8 million in June and had $24 million cash on hand.

The RNC has put resources into the gubernatorial battles in New Jersey and Virginia, where Republicans are hoping to win back Democrat held seats, and that is a reason for the drop in the in the amount of money the party committee has in the bank.

Obviously, and contrary to the opinions of the lunatic left-wing bloggers here, the GOP is not dead. Only 14 1/2 months till Nov 2010.

    let's hope it goes higher.

We cannot afford democratic rule for more than a few years. look what's happened since they've taken control of congress almost 3 years ago. (banking crash, unemployment up to almost 10%, wasted stimulus money, continued loss of jobs, largest deficit EVER!, etc. etc. etc.)

But as always the dimocrats will just blame Bush. Someday obummer will take responsibility for his actions, just like my 2 year old.

Schizoids with cash are still Schizoids. They had plenty of cash during the Presidential race and they still LOST. You have to have the ability to formulate clear thoughts and actions in order to put the cash to good use. Otherwise you end up dressing up a hillbilly pitbull with lipstick and clothes purchased at Saks Fifth Avenue hoping to pass it off as a viable vice-presidential candidate!! Delusional the whole lot of them, poor souls.

With that kind of money maybe they can convince Websters to change the definition of "Socialism" to better suit their argument, that way they won't seem as ignorant of it's meaning.

This is killing me, Obama seeking assistance from the clergy to support Government takeover of healthcare on a bassis of morality. Is this the same Obama that voted to allow late term partial birth abortions in the Senate? I thought morality issues were above his pay grade? This is a pathetic move and shows how sleazy low the Dems will go! They really must think we are all a bunch of drooling sheep.

I know i have been donating like crazy! We need to elect some republicans to slow this administration down. This Democratic majority is so power hungry it is getting downright scary.

As the far left steamrolls its way through Washington taking over free enterprise and poised to takeover 1/6 of the economy with this healthcare bill it's no surprise that Americans are turning to the Republicans for help.

This president ran on a moderate platform and it is obvious that was a lie. All the warnings were there...the liberal media chose to ignore it. Now we are left with a far left president who apparently can't even control his own party. There is absolutely NO leadership from Obama. I honestly do not even think he is in power. He is just a spokesperson for the far left.

This will lead to a Republican sweep next election and the far left is so blinded by its greed right now they don't even realize the revolt coming from the American people.

The RNC needs people to continue to contribute so we can get rid of any democrats or republicans in 2010 and 2012 who vote for obamas health care program.

They could raise a gazillion dollars, and they will still have 22% representation ( a number which drops daily despite their crooked tactics). It's the party of the selfish elite.

I can't wait for the UBS list of tax evaders to come out. I'm sure we'll have the RNC representing.

They can raise all the funds they want to, but unless their ideology changes along with the times, they will be losers. So let them keep right on doing what they're doing....riding off into the sunset.

That money should be used to pay the wages of their representatives in Washington, and give the tax payers a break. They are doing nothing and being paid well for nothing. They sit on their butts and criticize the democrats, but have no suggestions of their own. They
make up lies, then incite the scared and ignorant people at town hall meetings. And they get Fox News to help spread their lies. So please
give this to the republicans in Washington to pay their self unemployment pay. Give their wages back to the tax payers.

All of that money will be used to prevent the federal government from solving America's problems, like health coverage, pollution, education, global warming, terrorism, etc. Conservatism opposes any action of any kind for any reason. The wealthy are doing just fine, and Conservative leaders therefore cannot see that there are any problems that need attention.

Middle and lower-class Conservatives are suckers, who are being played like a harmonica. They show up at these town hall meetings and argue against their own self-interest.

But their biggest boost of all came this month when administration sources and congressional Democrats made rumblings about,
"...going it alone" to pass a Public Option health plan opposed by the majority of Republicans and the American public!
