On Obama's agenda next week: Golf

Obama is expected to play golf a 'number of times' while on vacation, said the White House.

Obama is expected to play golf a 'number of times' while on vacation, said the White House.

(CNN) - White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs is giving few specifics on how President Obama will spend his week-long vacation on Martha's Vineyard.

But one thing seems certain: Obama will likely sneak in several rounds of golf, just as former President Bill Clinton did when he vacationed on the island in the 1990's.

"There are no official events scheduled in the weeks ahead," Gibbs said Friday. "I anticipate he'll play golf a number of times."

According to the Boston Herald, rumored to be among his partners on the course is Tiger Woods, who is coming off a disappointing loss in the PGA championship last weekend. Woods is already set to be in the Boston area for the Deutsche Bank Championship.

But Gibbs said Friday he has no idea if the golfing legend will actually tee it up with Obama, who is estimated to be between a 16 and 24 handicap and has golfed several weekends in the Washington area over the summer.

"I think he is going to spend a decent part of his time relaxing with his family," said Gibbs. "I do not have anything that says he will play with Tiger Woods in the next few days."

But in between the rounds of golf and relaxing with his family, the president will continue to discuss the health care issue with lawmakers, GIbbs said.

"He'll continue to touch base with members of Congress in the House and the Senate on the Finance Committee to check in with them about progress that's being made," he said.

Bush took a 31 day vacation his first year as president. I cannot help but wonder how lucky we would have been if he never came back from Crawford.

He goes to Camp David every weekend and now a week of fun. Instead of playing golf why don't he spend time with his children. I wish we could afford a vacation.

I don't support the Beloved Leader, far from it, but I'll forgive him a round or three of golf. It's also good to know that, so far, there are no indications that he cheats at golf, unlike our previous Democratic President.

I hope the news media and the press wil be decent enough not to make a big thing out of every bathroom visit the president makes. Let him relax a bit before he comes back to WH to tackle the health care reform bill.

So while conservatives hold their tea parties, Obama will be teeing off.

Ha ha! The irony is painful sometimes.

The comments – 'tax dollars at work' and 'get back to work', etc. – how hypocrtical. Bush was in Crawford, TX all the time with no comments made by the GOP supporters then.....give me a LOST..get over it!

While the right wing nuts get all excited about the dropping poll numbers for Obama, they should be cautious. Some of his supporters are not happy because he has not repealed "Don't ask, don't tell." Still others wish he insisted on a public option.

The bottom line is that these unhappy voters will never embrace a right wing nut ball in the next presidential election.

Obma has worked hard to fix Bush's stupidity. The problems in our country were created by GEORGE BUSH!! Funny how people are so quick to critize the the problem fixer and totally forget about the problem creator. Think about it!

Didn't they just vacation in the National Parks last week? Must be nice to have unlimited private jet usage. How many friends and relatives are included in this little getaway?

If this was Bush taking a vacation with the country in dire straights, forget about it, CNN and the rest of the left wing media would be all over him. How about a Sheehan protest in front of his vinyard compound or better yet a TEA party!

    Enough with this empty suit

I find it odd that the folks who are complaining about the President taking a vacation never said a word when President "W" took the whole month of August off in Crawford Texas for the eight years of his regime. Have a well deserved break Mr. President.

Again, the hypocrisy of the right is showing. Your president took 100s of days of vacations while the economy tanked, bankruptcies took place, people were at war, and on and on and on ...and all you right-wing people never balked at your Bushie being away from the job. I CAN'T STAND IT ANY MORE. Right wingers - just go away already and stop complaining.
