On Obama's agenda next week: Golf

Obama is expected to play golf a 'number of times' while on vacation, said the White House.

Obama is expected to play golf a 'number of times' while on vacation, said the White House.

(CNN) - White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs is giving few specifics on how President Obama will spend his week-long vacation on Martha's Vineyard.

But one thing seems certain: Obama will likely sneak in several rounds of golf, just as former President Bill Clinton did when he vacationed on the island in the 1990's.

"There are no official events scheduled in the weeks ahead," Gibbs said Friday. "I anticipate he'll play golf a number of times."

According to the Boston Herald, rumored to be among his partners on the course is Tiger Woods, who is coming off a disappointing loss in the PGA championship last weekend. Woods is already set to be in the Boston area for the Deutsche Bank Championship.

But Gibbs said Friday he has no idea if the golfing legend will actually tee it up with Obama, who is estimated to be between a 16 and 24 handicap and has golfed several weekends in the Washington area over the summer.

"I think he is going to spend a decent part of his time relaxing with his family," said Gibbs. "I do not have anything that says he will play with Tiger Woods in the next few days."

But in between the rounds of golf and relaxing with his family, the president will continue to discuss the health care issue with lawmakers, GIbbs said.

"He'll continue to touch base with members of Congress in the House and the Senate on the Finance Committee to check in with them about progress that's being made," he said.

When will you right wing nuts realize that Mr. Peepers (Mitch McConnell) and Howdy Doody (John Boehner) do not give a rat's behind about the American people? They are deep in the pockets of the health care industry.

It'll be good to get him off the telvision for a while. Though hasn't managed to go on vacation in someway on all those overseas diplomatic trips. But seriously, he does deserve a vaction.

I am a democrat and voted for Obama, but I think this is not time for vacations, instead I strongly believe he should be working harder to pass health reform legislation. Mr. President, Martha's Vineyard can wait.

Barry Hussien has taken the disaster of George Bush and doubled down on it. The name Obama will go done through future generations in the same way Benedict Arnold and Joseph Stalin.

Yes President (PRESIDENT) Obama (He beat McCain) remember))
does deserve a vacation. Guess what. He's taking 7 days vacation
and paying for most of it out of his own packet. George W Bush took
31 days vacation his first August in the White House. I was going to say his firsts August in power, but everyone knows he never was in power. Thanks to Dick Chebey.

Wow i can't believe some of the people that say he doesn't need a vacation and wish they had their own. I would think working as the president of the united states is a little bit harder than most people's jobs. So a little extra vacation time is okay.

Did you see Hussien's face when he was talking about weed ? His disgusting performance as POTUS appears to have been influenced by drugs. Illegal drugs.

I thought the family vacation was to Arizona? I guess they get two. As long as they pay their own way, I could care less. If it's a friend "donating" the place to stay, I think it's wrong and not just for the President, but any elected official. At least Bush went back to his own home.

Some of the ugly & mean comments from the GOPers here proves just what America knows...... GOP=hate. And what's worse you people "claim" to be Christian! Shame on you!

    FYI GOPers:

Bush spent 490 DAYS at his Crawford Ranch.

And 487 days at Camp David.

And let's remember that when he was interviewed shortly after 9/11 he was PLAYING GOLF.

Billy from NC - it is wee wee and you are probably smoking enough weed.
Southerncousin - ask Walmart for a raise and get out of your trailer.

Wacky George set an all time world record for being on vacation and I did not see a fraction of the parsing and fascination that Obama receives.
We will be paying the $1 trillion bill for the stupid war in Iraq initiated by Wacky George so I'd rather spend our money on stimulus and health care than Wacky George's war of choice.

Being President isn't easy, especially with the horrible mess left by Bush and his cohorts. It's going to take time to rectify since it is a 2-level job: undo and redo. People are expecting too much of President Obama after such a short time in office. Malcontents should back off, give the man time to get the ship of state under control. He's fighting not only the Left idiots but some of the people in his own party. Too many of those disagreeing are not considering the good of the country but their own re-elections. These are politicians of the lowest level. I have the deepest trust in this man and expect him to come out on top although a plethora of problems are in his way now. He will, however, do what he promised despite lack of confidence by those in his own party and the Leftists who have deliberately put more roadblocks in his wayl

I think I understand why Obama's vacation has the right wing nuts upset. Most of the wing nuts are from a southern state where golfing would be done at a "Whites Only" country club.
