On Obama's agenda next week: Golf

Obama is expected to play golf a 'number of times' while on vacation, said the White House.
Obama is expected to play golf a 'number of times' while on vacation, said the White House.

(CNN) - White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs is giving few specifics on how President Obama will spend his week-long vacation on Martha's Vineyard.

But one thing seems certain: Obama will likely sneak in several rounds of golf, just as former President Bill Clinton did when he vacationed on the island in the 1990's.

"There are no official events scheduled in the weeks ahead," Gibbs said Friday. "I anticipate he'll play golf a number of times."

TIME: Barack Obama: America's (Not So Great) Golfer-in-Chief

According to the Boston Herald, rumored to be among his partners on the course is Tiger Woods, who is coming off a disappointing loss in the PGA championship last weekend. Woods is already set to be in the Boston area for the Deutsche Bank Championship.

But Gibbs said Friday he has no idea if the golfing legend will actually tee it up with Obama, who is estimated to be between a 16 and 24 handicap and has golfed several weekends in the Washington area over the summer.

"I think he is going to spend a decent part of his time relaxing with his family," said Gibbs. "I do not have anything that says he will play with Tiger Woods in the next few days."

But in between the rounds of golf and relaxing with his family, the president will continue to discuss the health care issue with lawmakers, GIbbs said.

"He'll continue to touch base with members of Congress in the House and the Senate on the Finance Committee to check in with them about progress that's being made," he said.

You can tell by the Anti-Obama comments that the people writing them are barely literate scum. They have nothing worthy to add to the discussion so they hurl their 3rd grade insults and lies. Not one Anti-Obama post I've seen today is 100% accurate. Not one! You right-wing extremists should really work on getting your facts straight and then maybe more people will pay attention to your childish outbursts. Until then, the adults in the conversation don't need your domestic terrorism interruping us. Thanks.

George W. Bush spent 879 days on vacation during his two terms, people.

That's more than two and a half YEARS of vacation time.

Barack Obama is one of the hardest-working presidents I have ever seen, don't you think its a bit early to be criticizing his family vacation?

Dear arun – unlike most Obamists, I get up and go to work everyday, bath daily, and obey the law. No Marxist / Leninist has ever escaped the judgement of history, and Barry will not be the first exception.

Bush broke Reagan's Record of Vacation days in only his first 3 years, so no Repulic puke has any right to complain

Obama can take a vacation for the next 8 years and it still wont amount to the death and destruction that the Bush and Reagan administrations gave America

Relax Obama, you deserve it, the way I see it you have a free ride for the next 8 years

As a republican (just the theories not the politicians) I don’t agree with much of anything the president stands for. However, it is a 24 hour a day job and if the man is entitled to vacation then the man needs to take a vacation.

I'll be the first republican to compliment him on something. "Good job condoning Libya today".

Enjoy your well-earned vacation, President Obama.

Then come back and pass health care with a public option for the American people.

    God Bless America!

    Dorrian,

23% of your pay check goes to socialist programs? Let's see, assuming you make about over $35K a year your describing 1.5% for Medicare (your retirement health insurance), 6% is your Social Security contribution and you should expect to about $3,500 per month after age 73, and 15% is your federal income tax, most of which pays for Defense and domestic priorities such as roads, bridges, running ports and Home Land Security. Yup, that adds up to 23% alright.

And I'm pretty sure that the President works more than 50 hours a week. But yes, you should go take some vacation. Doesn't your employer give you paid time off along with health insurance benefits?

Right on, VGal. Time to drown out all this drivel. I'm tired of the same lying talking points over and over again.
I don't believe for a second that NONE of you can manage to afford a vacation. Baloney. I don't make a lot of money but I just came back from NYS and am going to LA next month. Ticket prices are wicked cheap right now, so I call baloney on those claims. And if you can't afford vacation b/c you're out of work, you shouldn't be blaming President (that's right. He's the president, not "Hussein") Obama. This financial meltdown has been in the works for years & is going to take a while to fix. If you'll RECALL, that is why they had the "stimulus" for the banks last year...you know, BEFORE Pres. Obama was elected?
I also think it's pretty disgusting (and UnChristlike if you roll that way)that anyone would be so self-involved and selfish as to deny others the healthcare they deserve. You *really* think that only those w. money deserve to be well? Seems a little strange since you're the same people complaining about not being able to afford a vacation!
    I call baloney!!

George Bush took more vacations than any President in history. I'm sure the Repukes can't remember that. So far, we've had cash for clunkers, economy has turned, stocks are up, and health care on the way and that only in the first 8 months.

You Obama haters should open your minds. Sly Fox news, and colesterol clogged brain Rush have brained washed you all. I think must of you repukes light being in debt, paying high insurance (most of you idiots probably don't have any), and lies. You all make me sick and that's why we need health care reform.

Bush deserved to be Hated he killed 4000s Something of our men and woman based on lies!
    ----------------------------
    1. So, are you telling me no soldier, Airman, Marine, or sailor has died since 1-11-09? You holding this President accountable for those deaths?
    2. If they were killed due to lies, why is this President continuing to fight for the lies?
    3. Why is this president expanding the war (at least in Afghanistan)?
Does he deserve to be hated as well. According to your logic, YES! More people will die, it is called the nature of war! It is not the man I dislike. It is all about policy and YES Bush instituted policy I disliked as well!

Vgal...that would be true IF a couple things hadn't started happening...first, only 2%...2% of the money owed to the dealers has been paid...the dealers are in the hole for all of this money, some owed a couple hundred thousand dollars and not one dime has been paid to thousands of them yet...the other thing the dealers are screaming about, is that, after the fact, the government is rejecting, they say, 20% now of clunkers that the dealers already took in and gave the client 3500 to 4500 dollars for and the dealers followed all guidelines...this could be a high estimate, with dealers complaining, you know how things get blown out of proportion with the media sometimes, but all in all...seems like the clunker thing got peoplein for sure to buy cars and that was a good thing definitely...BUT please...the stimulus! A BUST! 30 million to save a mouse on 30 acres for Pelosi in San fran...a billion to ACORN...funding small airports for Congressmen and politicians to fly out of pretty exclusively...the 800 billion is gone and ALL WASTED on politicians friends and pet projects that barely provided any jobs...all economists say so now and it is pathetic. No money AT ALL to small businesses for loans etc...NONE and they provide 85% of the jobs in this country...what a sham the stimulus was. THAT was the beginning of the end of the liberal Dems in power...2010 they will be thrown out and in 2012, if Obama doesn't stop catering to the left (9%) in this country and be more of a centrist and bipartisan leader, then he will be a one term Pres. And it will be all his fault.
