(CNN) - White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs is giving few specifics on how President Obama will spend his week-long vacation on Martha's Vineyard.
But one thing seems certain: Obama will likely sneak in several rounds of golf, just as former President Bill Clinton did when he vacationed on the island in the 1990's.
"There are no official events scheduled in the weeks ahead," Gibbs said Friday. "I anticipate he'll play golf a number of times."

According to the Boston Herald, rumored to be among his partners on the course is Tiger Woods, who is coming off a disappointing loss in the PGA championship last weekend. Woods is already set to be in the Boston area for the Deutsche Bank Championship.
But Gibbs said Friday he has no idea if the golfing legend will actually tee it up with Obama, who is estimated to be between a 16 and 24 handicap and has golfed several weekends in the Washington area over the summer.
"I think he is going to spend a decent part of his time relaxing with his family," said Gibbs. "I do not have anything that says he will play with Tiger Woods in the next few days."
But in between the rounds of golf and relaxing with his family, the president will continue to discuss the health care issue with lawmakers, GIbbs said.
"He'll continue to touch base with members of Congress in the House and the Senate on the Finance Committee to check in with them about progress that's being made," he said.

Of course Mr Obama deserves and has earned a vacation. Pls lets stick to important issues here in this country and the world. Stop allowing ourselves to be portrayed as a bunch of whinners and complainers. Get over it and be thankful we live in America and can elect whom ever we please. No one is forcing us to do anything, no car bombs, roving armies raping and robbing, no dictators forcing us to do anything. We will all thrive together or all perish together. WAKE UP!!!!
Have a wonderful vacation. I don't know anyone in this country who deserves one more. Enjoy your family and I'm glad your girls are getting a vacation before school starts. How nice to see what reminds us all of a normal family in the White House for a change.
What conservative email forward lies wil come out of this trip? Will he be eating imprted Iranian caviar again? Or lobster by the truckload at taxpayer expense? Or – more likely he will be eating kittens and shooting golfballs at unsuspecting puppies.
The DOW is climbing. The housing market is rebounding. The unemployment rate will soon start to go down (it has already slowed down). Oh yeah, all while the President has been pushing healthcare reform while being obstructed by a Republican party that is desperately trying to preserve their self-interests with the insurance companies. I'd say the President should enjoy his well-earned vacation. He's done more in 8 months than Bush in 8 years. The GOP business model (it is a business model) only works for the large corporations and the select wealthy individuals while the rest of the country goes down the tubes.
This guy has put our country in economic disaster and now he wants have a holiday. I wish somebody can give him lessons for his actual job. This guy has no experience and no idea how to handle it. He can't just get it.

at least president obama is actually spending time in washington dc. unlike george w bush i think i read someplace he spent 60% of the time he was in office over 8 yrs down in texas. hope he has a good much needed vacation.
Bush Jr. took off more time for vacation than any other president in history. His stimulus packages didn't make a dent in the economy and he ended up with a net loss of jobs after four YEARS. And yet people criticize Obama a mere 6 months after his stimulus package was passed that he isn't doing things right/enough. Where was the republican outrage about Bush Jr.? Hypocrites!

Eisenhower played during the korean war, and woodrow wilson played during ww1, all the presidents going back for some time have played golf during presidency.

Please don't compare Bush's 8-year vacation in office to the week that Obama is taking. Bush took more vacation than almost any other President, EVER.
Exactly was has Obama done to deserve a vacation. In most any any job you have to work atleast a year to take a week off. Maybe you can get 2 weeks your second or third year on the job.
He has done nothing he has promised and and as an individual I'm worse shape now with this economy then i was a year ago.

what's wrong with obama taking a vacation. no one said anything when bush took a vacation. (probably because we were better off with him away from his desk). bush took more vacation time than any president that i can recall.
Some day we will die when someone is having fun. Some day we will be having fun when someone is dying. Some days we will be losing jobs while others gain employment. I wonder why so many people are terribly bitter these days. That doesn't gain a thing. The President needs some free time in his life, and a President always has the red phone waiting. He never really has free moments as most of us have. He needs to help out Americans as we have elected him to do so. He is not our "slave" as these folk who resent him seem to suggest. The last President took more vacations than most previous presidents; and I don't recall people complaining bitterly as many do today. These bitter comments are easy to do. Hoping our President succeeds only helps out all of us, even those who write the bitter comments.
Think of as a micro-stimulas package.... Obama has a "moral obligation" to live it up, rubbing elbows with celebs, its good for our health that he is out and about and not in the office mucking up the nation.
