Asked Sunday on CNN's State of the Union about Baldwin’s recent comments that he might move to Connecticut and mount a challenge to Lieberman because, as Baldwin told Playboy magazine, “I have no use for [Lieberman],” the Independent senator responded, “You know, make my day.”
“I respect Alec Baldwin as an actor and as a comedian,” added Lieberman, “if he wants to run, that’s his right.”
Lieberman has a track record of surviving tough election battles. After his strong support of George W. Bush’s decision to wage war in Iraq made him a target of liberal bloggers and activists, Lieberman lost the Democratic Senate primary in his state in 2006. Undaunted, the longtime senator decided to run as an independent and managed to hold on to seat. He is not up for re-election again until 2012.

For once, Lieberman is thinking clearly. All he'd have to do is play that tape of Baldwin lambasting his daughter, and it would be over. Actually, because of that tape, any dreams Baldwin EVER had of running for office are dead.

I am a Conservative but respect Joe Lieberman on a lot of issues. Alec Baldwin is an idiot; a complete idiot. He ought to stick to what he knows best and thats lousy acting. By the way, since he has so much free time, he should also work on his parenting skills.

Senator Lieberman needs to be careful. He may have won when he did, but he is very very vulnerable because of his shifts instead of his stands. The Senator would be wise not to be so self sufficient, because there are several known names in his state and outside of his state that can mount a campaign to oust him especially if he is not on the side of Americans.
