Asked Sunday on CNN's State of the Union about Baldwin’s recent comments that he might move to Connecticut and mount a challenge to Lieberman because, as Baldwin told Playboy magazine, “I have no use for [Lieberman],” the Independent senator responded, “You know, make my day.”
“I respect Alec Baldwin as an actor and as a comedian,” added Lieberman, “if he wants to run, that’s his right.”
Lieberman has a track record of surviving tough election battles. After his strong support of George W. Bush’s decision to wage war in Iraq made him a target of liberal bloggers and activists, Lieberman lost the Democratic Senate primary in his state in 2006. Undaunted, the longtime senator decided to run as an independent and managed to hold on to seat. He is not up for re-election again until 2012.

Lieberman needs to be GONE. The day of the warmonger is history.
Do us a favor, Alec, go back to Long Island and start up a " save the clams" cause. Connecticut doesn't need a Hollywood has been !!
Lieberman has nothing to fear from a dolt like Baldwin. As an actor he is excellent, but his ability to speak in public is somewhat limited.
I have no use for Democrats one way or another, but Lieberman has always impressed me. He has been a solid Liberal vote for years, yet the Democrat leadership turned on him like rabid rats. Still he was able to swat them in the election. He never let anyone bend what he believed was right to match the party line. He is one of the few politicians that I think has core beliefs beyond the latest polling numbers.
Democrats are better served leaving him alone and telling the lefty loons to back off.
NOTHING would be better political justice than for a Hollywood heavy-hitter to defeat a two-faced turncoat proponent of censorship.
Hey, Joe! Maybe the Parents TV Council will welcome you back when you get your keester handed to you.
There are three Alfred E. Neuman's, the one in Mad Magazine, the one who was "President" and this one. It's voluntary if I read Mad Magazine. The "President" one is going, going, gone. OK, Baldwin, whip this one, and it will all be over.
A sissified political, who could not even win his own Primary last time in the ring, pretending he is macho. He could not even carry Dirty Harry's underwear. I'll bet if he fired that .44 Magnum pistol the recoil would break Lieberman's wrist. What a joke !
I will contributre to Alec Baldwin as well, Tony. Joe Lieberman campaigned for McCain. If he wants to be in love with a Republican then he can join their party. Him and the rest of the Conservatives in the Democratic party need to be kicked out.
I will send money to Alec if he decides to run.
Hey, Joe, if you're going to (as it seems you did) use a movie quote, at least have it be from the right actor.
He won in 2006 only because 70% of registered Republicans
abandoned their candidate and voted for him. Thus tipping the
balance of power in the Senate from the GOP to the Dems.
A classic example of a party shooting itself in the foot.
Typical liberal press. You are only posting positive statements for Alec. How pathetic !!!
Alec Baldwin would smear Lieberman like cheese on a cracker if he ran. At least Baldwin knows what he's talking about. I have no use for Joe Lieberman, either.
Me too!
Baldwin is a JOKE. The guy can't even manage his small little domestic cocoon. Who in the right frame of mind would want someone like him to represent you at the national level???
With all due respect, just stick to your job as a comedian, Baldwin.
LIEbeman should loose.....
Baldwin would be horrible in a political office – too emotional and scattered in his thinking. But Lieberman has indeed become a joke. Now he's trying to channel Reagan, but the line worked for Reagan, because no one doubted his resolve. Lieberman is just a cranky old scold who seems more interested in blowing up the middle east than rebuilding America.
I wonder if Baldwin has seen "Team America: World Police," and if that's where he got the idea to run for office.
I know this must be a misprint. Baldwin is not on the same planet as Lieberman. Despite what some of the liberals think about Joe, he is what is best for America and I for one appppreciate what he has done for all of us. Keep up the good work Joe!!!!!!
Joe, I assure you, you have no problem with this lugnut
Alec: Can't wait. Its time for Joe Lieberman to go where Joe the Plumber went. Wishy washy Joe, its time for you to go.
It would make the Connecticut's day if somebody other than Joe Lieberman were senator as well.
We have already one ambitious, liberal and inexperienced in the big office and we see how quick we go down. No more games!
Lieberman survives tough election battles because he manages to keep the military base alive and well funded. The first time Congress dowsizes the base at Groton, out goes Lieberman.
I worked for the Kerry-Leiberman campaign, and would volunteer to take Joe out of that seat. But Alec is not the shot we should take. Sorry Alec.
No kidding, get rid of that self serving snake LIEberman. I'll throw in $100.00 and I don't even live there!
Yeah, Make My Day Liebermann. Anyone that runs as an "Independent" – "Connecticut for Liebermann" party candidate after Democrats tossed you under the bus in 2006, deserves a challenger in 2012. May it hopefully go to a real Democrat next time. And if it happens to go to a Republican, well...what's the difference?
