Baldwin: Lieberman's one of a 'few moderate Republicans left'

In a statement provided to CNN, Baldwin took a jab at Lieberman, calling the Democrat-turned-Independent a 'moderate Republican.'
In a statement provided to CNN, Baldwin took a jab at Lieberman, calling the Democrat-turned-Independent a 'moderate Republican.'

WASHINGTON (CNN) – It seems that what could have been one of the greatest political face-offs of 2012 is not meant to be after all.

A day after Connecticut Independent Sen. Joe Lieberman welcomed a possible 2012 challenge from actor Alec Baldwin, a representative for Baldwin tells CNN that "it's great to see the excitement" about the possibility of Baldwin seeking political office but the actor has no plans to run against Lieberman.

In a statement provided to CNN, the actor also took a stab at Lieberman, who has sometimes allied himself with Republicans, particularly on the Iraq war and Middle East policy.

"Part of me would hate to see Lieberman go," Baldwin said in the statement, because there are so few moderate Republicans left in the Senate today."

When asked about the possibility of facing Baldwin in 2012, Lieberman responded with a Dirty Harry-esqe "Make my day" on CNN's State of the Union Sunday.

"I respect Alec Baldwin as an actor and as a comedian," Lieberman also told CNN's John King, "if he wants to run, that's his right."

Alec Baldwin, showing us once again that you do not need any intelligence at all to be a (liberal) actor.

Lieberman personifies the stereotype of a self-serving chameleon. The one thing about him that does not shape-shift is his primary allegiance to Israel instead of America.

Baldwin is another arrogant, elitist liberal jerk (not as dumb as Maxine Waters, who I am sure cannot even spell neanderthal). Remember his rant against his daughter? This is what the liberals are made of and why they are so repugnant.

Wait a second – I thought that JL said that he had no plans to run in 2006. Then when he changed his mind on that, he said that this would be his last term. Did he change his mind again? Is he looking to run again in 2012?

What can you trust coming from the mouth of this guy?

Joe – enough already. Serve your constiuents best by retiring already!

Baldwin is a jerk and not even a good actor...Anyone who would publicly cut up their daughter in public is not to be trusted–no smarts, just arrogance of " typical" leftists. Fortunately, most of them are eating crow right now with their leader's popularity plummeting. What a liar and hypocrite Obama turned out to be–giving Soros' company oil drilling in Brazil. No wonder gas prices are not coming down. "change you can not believe in?"

Good ol' Sleepy Joe, getting tough. Careful Joe, remember you are the man that couldn't beat a bumbling, stumbling, simpleton from Texas. I admit Balwin isn't a rocket scientist but he does have a little more personality than W. Baldwin may put a beat down on ol' Sleepy Joe.

As the ticker libs show, when you are so far to the left like Baldwin, Obama and those ticker obama-bots that you are almost about to fall off the earth, Joseph Stalin seemed like a right winger to you. When you think great moderates of history include Marx, lenin, and today Obama and Chavez, then sure, Joe is a moderate republican to you. Keep in mind that to most liberal Democrats in America today, if you were to show them the things that JFK championed like tax cuts but excluded his name, they would say that that politician is a right wing, religious wacko, extremist, racist, hick. The average Democrat in America today is so far to the left that they walk around like the people in that V8 commerical from a few years back.

Moderate or not, Jowly McJowlyface is a world class moron. His commentary that "There’s no reason we have to do it all now," not to mention his "reasoning" behind it, was at best proof that he's had a stroke or two and at worst a sign that the entirety of CT is morbidly retarded. I'd like to hear his reasons why "we had to do it all then" with respect to Iraq...you know, in light of finding out that every single justification given was a lie. Give him his walking papers CT...he's as useless as a textbook in rural TX.

What I find beyond funny is when loony libs like Baldwin attempt to play conservatives on TV, as if you cannot see the evil lib in his eyes. Besides, the head of GE a right winger, you can't write a script that is as far removed from reality as that.

What makes these Hollywood idiots think they know more than everyone else? I am sick of these uneducated actors and actresses, with inflated egos, using their celebrity to spout off their Marxist ideas.

I have no idea what Alex Baldwin's political opinions are, but he better not run. All we will hear for the entire campaign will be that tape recording of him excoriating his young teenage daughter after she apparently got in the middle of his hideous divorce proceedings. I just can't listen to that over and over again.

Alec has proven himself to be irrational and with a bad temper. He has been abusive to his wife and daughter. He makes millions of dollars on films while employees of those film made minimum wage and without health benefits. He spends his money living like a king...is he really fit to represent the people of CT? I think not.

Joe Lieberman has been an outstanding leader and moderate and compromised for good results in the past. I'm independent and I myself, my Democratic and Republican friends more than not agree with Joe's positions on a variety of topics....there is no contest, Joe Leiberman well outshines Alec Baldwin any day of the week.

If anyone ever reads "America: The Book, A Citizen's Guide to Democracy Inaction" from the Daily Show team, there is a page in the book that talks about different Special Interest Groups. One of which is Hollywood. On the page it says "Stated Agenda" and "Unstated Agenda" for the different groups. For Hollywood it reads "A Baldwin in the White House by 2016."

The irony of this story makes me laugh.

For all you neo-tards who worry why Baldwin didn't leave the country due to previous election results, its time to update your electoral facts, especially as regards the election results in MN. If you haven't heard yet (maybe FoxNews hasn't reported it yet?), the [D]s won, bigtime in 2008...in MN too! So it should come as no bad-loser surprise to you rightwingers that Baldwin is back and happy.

Now, lets focus on this recent election history: many of your own rightwing buddies recently made the same comments that Baldwin previously did concerning a move out of country based on election results. I certainly hope that you'll hold your rightwing friends to their mindless boasts. Don't let the door hit ya where the good lord split ya!

It is a pleasure to read comments like those from Doug, New Jersey. The depth of such considered analysis reveals the true intellectual engine behind the base of the [R] party, and it stands as a shining example of why this country, despite all of its strengths, struggles mightily to avoid slipping back into the Dark Ages instead of forging ahead and playing a significant role in the modern world.

When will Hollywood realize that the vast majority of them have a great gift in their talent to act. And then just let it go. I've seen celebs. on "Jeopardy" who have really shocked me with their rank stupidity. Sam Waterson was one. And when I see him doing investment commercials, he's so convincing. Just goes to show..........!

Baldwin sure isn't any rocket scietist altho I think he is one of the most talented actors today. HIs "tirade" on a recorded phone call to his daughter calls into question his judgement & discretion at the very least, not to mention his perchant for drink.

Ct. is a wealthy, sophisticated State with a well-above average education & personal wealth. Compared to Joe, he's in WAY over his head. But then, that's what those with huge egos think of themselves. Luckily, most of us see through it. And I'm not even from Connecticut!
