WASHINGTON (CNN) – It seems that what could have been one of the greatest political face-offs of 2012 is not meant to be after all.
A day after Connecticut Independent Sen. Joe Lieberman welcomed a possible 2012 challenge from actor Alec Baldwin, a representative for Baldwin tells CNN that "it's great to see the excitement" about the possibility of Baldwin seeking political office but the actor has no plans to run against Lieberman.
In a statement provided to CNN, the actor also took a stab at Lieberman, who has sometimes allied himself with Republicans, particularly on the Iraq war and Middle East policy.
"Part of me would hate to see Lieberman go," Baldwin said in the statement, because there are so few moderate Republicans left in the Senate today."
When asked about the possibility of facing Baldwin in 2012, Lieberman responded with a Dirty Harry-esqe "Make my day" on CNN's State of the Union Sunday.

"I respect Alec Baldwin as an actor and as a comedian," Lieberman also told CNN's John King, "if he wants to run, that's his right."

As the ticker libs show, when you are so far to the left like Baldwin, Obama and those ticker obama-bots that you are almost about to fall off the earth, Joseph Stalin seemed like a right winger to you. When you think great moderates of history include Marx, lenin, and today Obama and Chavez, then sure, Joe is a moderate republican to you. Keep in mind that to most liberal Democrats in America today, if you were to show them the things that JFK championed like tax cuts but excluded his name, they would say that that politician is a right wing, religious wacko, extremist, racist, hick. The average Democrat in America today is so far to the left that they walk around like the people in that V8 commerical from a few years back.
Lieberman better wake up and pick a side! If he doesn't support the presidents health care proposal, including a public option, he is going to loose his seat to Alec Baldwin.
The entire republican party has been hijacked by the 10% of the wing nuts in the birther movement.
We need to have term limit to get rid off out of touch, and life time polticians out of office!

Moderate or not, Jowly McJowlyface is a world class moron. His commentary that "There’s no reason we have to do it all now," not to mention his "reasoning" behind it, was at best proof that he's had a stroke or two and at worst a sign that the entirety of CT is morbidly retarded. I'd like to hear his reasons why "we had to do it all then" with respect to Iraq...you know, in light of finding out that every single justification given was a lie. Give him his walking papers CT...he's as useless as a textbook in rural TX.
Alec is a little late to the party. By the time he goes against Lieberman, people are going to be so fed up with democrats spending, they'll vote anyone into office who doesn't call themselves a democrat.
Is Baldwin still a US citizen? I thought he said he was moving to Canada if Bush defeated Kerry. Guess you can't take him at his word, which would actually make him qualified to run as a Dem.
What I find beyond funny is when loony libs like Baldwin attempt to play conservatives on TV, as if you cannot see the evil lib in his eyes. Besides, the head of GE a right winger, you can't write a script that is as far removed from reality as that.
What makes these Hollywood idiots think they know more than everyone else? I am sick of these uneducated actors and actresses, with inflated egos, using their celebrity to spout off their Marxist ideas.

I have no idea what Alex Baldwin's political opinions are, but he better not run. All we will hear for the entire campaign will be that tape recording of him excoriating his young teenage daughter after she apparently got in the middle of his hideous divorce proceedings. I just can't listen to that over and over again.

Alec has proven himself to be irrational and with a bad temper. He has been abusive to his wife and daughter. He makes millions of dollars on films while employees of those film made minimum wage and without health benefits. He spends his money living like a king...is he really fit to represent the people of CT? I think not.
Joe Lieberman has been an outstanding leader and moderate and compromised for good results in the past. I'm independent and I myself, my Democratic and Republican friends more than not agree with Joe's positions on a variety of topics....there is no contest, Joe Leiberman well outshines Alec Baldwin any day of the week.

I am far from being a huge Alec Baldwin fan . . .but in this case, he is right . .Joe Lieberman is a joke! It is an utter embarrassment that he holds any position in our government at all.
If anyone ever reads "America: The Book, A Citizen's Guide to Democracy Inaction" from the Daily Show team, there is a page in the book that talks about different Special Interest Groups. One of which is Hollywood. On the page it says "Stated Agenda" and "Unstated Agenda" for the different groups. For Hollywood it reads "A Baldwin in the White House by 2016."
The irony of this story makes me laugh.
