I did valued the man, but in this instance he used his power in senate than his obligation to the constitution that he sworn in. Beside that he was a great man. He fought for us the way a senator should. He did not fight for big business and the super rich the way republicans do. He remembered who elected him. American citizens and he returned that trust. It is a shame that there are no republicans with the guts, the courage and the class and character to forgo their political points and would fight for us, the average citizen the way Senator Ted Kennedy did. This is why Ted and Obama clicked, I believe: the whole principle of doing the right thing regardless of how inadvisable that might be in regards to their personal interests. I will miss not only him, but what his star-crossed family stood for. The many sacrifices, and tragedies that they withstood, and still they would not be swayed from their righteous cause. May God give you rest Ted as you're rejoined with so many of those that you loved and loved you best. Kennedy was one of the greatest senators to ever serve in the Senate. Through his almost fifty years of service, he commanded the respect of his peers and wielded significant influence on both sides of the aisle, in ways few people in Washington ever have. What strikes me most about Sen. Kennedy is not so much that he had that influence and respect, but that he was able to maintain it for as long as he did. In a town where influence comes and goes, Ted Kennedy managed to hold onto his for almost fifty years and, now that he is gone, the American people are better off for the many years of service he provided us.
