Palin involved in another scheduling mishap

Palin will not attend an event Thursday at which she was billed to be a top speaker.

Palin will not attend an event Thursday at which she was billed to be a top speaker.

(CNN) - Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin appears to be involved in another scheduling mishap, the fourth time in as many months organizers of an event expected an appearance from the GOP star only to discover at the last minute she would not attend.

The latest confusion involves an Alaska Family Council event Thursday night to promote a state ballot issue that would make it illegal for anyone under 18 years old to obtain an abortion without parental consent.

While the organization continues to bill Palin on its Web site as the top speaker at the kickoff for a statewide signature drive, a spokeswoman for the former governor says Palin had never agreed to participate, nor was she even asked.

"To this very moment, she has never been asked to give a speech at a public venue," Palin spokeswoman Meghan Stapleton told CNN.

Instead, Stapleton said, event organizers had invited Palin to attend a private fundraiser for the organization - but she declined the invitation because of prior out-of-state plans.

"The governor notified the group that she is out of town, but would make a donation," Stapleton said. "And she did also mention that since people have already begun signing the petition, she could sign the petition when she returns in the near future."

While a source places blame for the mixup on the group, saying Palin has been "set up a few times before" by Alaska Family Council President Jim Minnery, such scheduling snafus appear to have become a regular occurrence for Palin, one of the Republican Party's most popular figures.

Minnery has not yet responded to CNN's request for comment.

In August, it was announced she would not attend a California Republican women's group event after that organization had promoted her appearance for weeks.

Confusion also surrounded Palin's involvement in events earlier this year including the Conservative Political Action Conference, and a major GOP fundraiser in Washington whose organizers had plugged her as the headliner.

Organizers at all of those events say they believed they had received assurances from her representatives, only to learn that either the former governor's aides in Alaska or her staff at SarahPAC had been unaware of the commitment. That set of advisors would then announce publicly that Palin had never planned to attend the event.

Palin did end up appearing at the GOP fundraiser but did not speak as originally planned.

When do mishaps start becoming clumsy mistakes, as they should be called.

She might face death panels if she attends.

I guess you have nothing better to do than to report on the activities and mis information re Sarah Palin. To bad you do not do the same for the opposite side of the political spectrum. She must really have the liberal side worried to disclaim her every move as you have done!

She's obviously very busy spreading hate, which is what she does best.

And, please stop calling her Governor Palin. She quit that job, remember?

Why are they bothering this idiot. Sarah is out of the spot light with someone she cares not to be seen or anyone to know. People get a gripppppppppp. Sarah is not as true to her party as you think. She is trying to recoup her status as a Democrat. HA HA

It is hard to imagine someone considered qualified by the GOP to be a heartbeat away from the office of the President, Commander in Chief and leader of the free world, yet she cannot keep her calendar or find someone else to do this job for her. We see better skills in Brownie troop leaders.

It's amazing how she has time to attack the healthcare issue. I wonder who paid for her daughter's h/c bill when she gave birth.–hmmm!

On a softer note, I think this would have been a good cause for Sarah Palin to attend especially since her teen daughter was pregnant.

I heard a good one the other day. " We'll show the birthers Obama's birth certificate if we can see Palin's high school diploma."

Can't CNN quit reporting on this stupid woman already? If the repubs think she is their best chance at getting the white house back, then they have another thing coming. The woman is a joke. Oh, she's a quitter too.

This is without a doubt the lamest excuse at "News" that I have ever seen. Why are you people so obsessed with this woman? I am beyond tired of reading about an "Ex-politician"...

    1. Sarah Palin was born a mishap, and its gone downhill from there.

    2. This woman is no longer an elected official. She doesn't even have a job, unless Twittering now qualifies as gainful employment. She doesn't belong in the politics section.

    Wow, another concidence. Imagine that...
I am not sure I would hire this woman or her staff as my receptionist much less elect her to any public office.

....starting to wonder if her book will be on the shelves as schuduled, or cancelled and appear mysteriously on the 40% off table...???

I knew she'd cancel more appearances, but I did not expect it to happen so soon. Now she's losing a chance at even a guest-shot on a FOXNEWS pundit show.

I wouldn't be surprised to see The Daily Show (as a joke) advertise her to be a guest, then no one appears on the guest segment.

Who cares abbout Sarah Palin. Why is CNN keeping her in the news? Do CNN want her to run for the Presidency? She has proven to be too stupid and bombastic to run anything. But then again, this country elected or rather appointed Bush, didn't they?

surprise surprise...CNN and their liberal agenda is even bashing Palin for not showing up to something that they would bash her for showing up to. Oh yeah and great editors/writer...":make it illegal for anyone under than 18 years old" wow that is impressive!
