Palin involved in another scheduling mishap

Palin will not attend an event Thursday at which she was billed to be a top speaker.

(CNN) – Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin appears to be involved in another scheduling mishap, the fourth time in as many months organizers of an event expected an appearance from the GOP star only to discover at the last minute she would not attend.

The latest confusion involves an Alaska Family Council event Thursday night to promote a state ballot issue that would make it illegal for anyone under 18 years old to obtain an abortion without parental consent.

While the organization continues to bill Palin on its Web site as the top speaker at the kickoff for a statewide signature drive, a spokeswoman for the former governor says Palin had never agreed to participate, nor was she even asked.

"To this very moment, she has never been asked to give a speech at a public venue," Palin spokeswoman Meghan Stapleton told CNN.

Instead, Stapleton said, event organizers had invited Palin to attend a private fundraiser for the organization - but she declined the invitation because of prior out-of-state plans.

"The governor notified the group that she is out of town, but would make a donation," Stapleton said. "And she did also mention that since people have already begun signing the petition, she could sign the petition when she returns in the near future."

While a source places blame for the mixup on the group, saying Palin has been "set up a few times before" by Alaska Family Council President Jim Minnery, such scheduling snafus appear to have become a regular occurrence for Palin, one of the Republican Party's most popular figures.

Minnery has not yet responded to CNN's request for comment.

In August, it was announced she would not attend a California Republican women's group event after that organization had promoted her appearance for weeks.

Confusion also surrounded Palin's involvement in events earlier this year including the Conservative Political Action Conference, and a major GOP fundraiser in Washington whose organizers had plugged her as the headliner.

Organizers at all of those events say they believed they had received assurances from her representatives, only to learn that either the former governor's aides in Alaska or her staff at SarahPAC had been unaware of the commitment. That set of advisors would then announce publicly that Palin had never planned to attend the event.

Palin did end up appearing at the GOP fundraiser but did not speak as originally planned.

To paraphrase Barney Frank, on which planet does Palin spend most of her time?? What is wrong with Republicans anyway? They only seem capable of saying no and loving Palin. Heaven help us!

    Scheduling mishap. Yeah, right.

She reminds me of a mean, petty, shallow and often vindictive high school girl – cancelling plans when something perceived to be better and more advantageous to herself comes up.

What is with CNN's fixation on Palin? Isn't she old news? And, what is with these pathetic stories on the most mundane issues regarding her? I don't care if she missed an appointment or if she is tweeting again. Cover some real news CNN. Perhaps take a critical and objective look at what the federal government is doing.

Her daughter is a good example for all Americans to follow: it's okay to quit high school to have sex and baby and do white trash talk on TV, but no abortion please because Alaska under Palin is pro-life.

Let me see if I got this straight. Sarah was scheduled and then claims she never agreed. Sarah, Sarah, Sarah. Tell everyone it is not your fault. And if nobody believe you blame the Democrats, or better yet, a pack of rabid, liberal, anti-God, non-hunting, tree huggers, whose names you never seem to know.

Didn't the organizers offer enough money? Wasn't the venue large enough to justify your appearance? Weren't you given top billing?

Maybe she had another "higher calling" to attend to? Bailing on the Alaska voters and citizens a year and a half before her term ends is not surprising...she has quit EVERY position she has held once her ego spots something bright and shiny.

It's so easy for organizers to say that Gov Palin is having scheduling problems. They get all the publicity of mentioning her name, even though she may have never agreed to appear. Smart tactics on their behalf....

There ya go again, makin stuff up! Just cause she drops her g's and her appointments. The MSM (Sarah code for normal people) have it in for her and have made it all up again.

Her dance card is just so full of dinners and rallies for unconstitutional causes that its a lock cinch that she's ganna miss a few. Everybody knows that only dead fish go with the flow.

    Lastly from Sarah:

"Winners always quit, quitters always win; quit while your ahead; there is no "I" in quit (or maybe there is no 'me' in quit); won't get fooled again" Mush, you huskies!

Whats news worthy isn't that Palin can't manage her calendar, its that she financially and politically supports legislation that forces girls, who because of rape, incest, or a bad decision need to get an abortion to ask their parents for permission first. especially in the case of incest...this is a ridiculous law that would hopefully not pass judicial muster. why laugh at her irrelevant scheduling mishaps when her actual policies are so anti-progressive and anti-woman.

A true American hero died yesterday and this is what you lead with??

The woman is hiding behind her computer spewing her drivel without facing the public or engaging in interviews. Why isn't CNN demanding that she do so?? She is a coward!
