(CNN) – Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin appears to be involved in another scheduling mishap, the fourth time in as many months organizers of an event expected an appearance from the GOP star only to discover at the last minute she would not attend.
The latest confusion involves an Alaska Family Council event Thursday night to promote a state ballot issue that would make it illegal for anyone under 18 years old to obtain an abortion without parental consent.
While the organization continues to bill Palin on its Web site as the top speaker at the kickoff for a statewide signature drive, a spokeswoman for the former governor says Palin had never agreed to participate, nor was she even asked.
"To this very moment, she has never been asked to give a speech at a public venue," Palin spokeswoman Meghan Stapleton told CNN.
Instead, Stapleton said, event organizers had invited Palin to attend a private fundraiser for the organization - but she declined the invitation because of prior out-of-state plans.
"The governor notified the group that she is out of town, but would make a donation," Stapleton said. "And she did also mention that since people have already begun signing the petition, she could sign the petition when she returns in the near future."
While a source places blame for the mixup on the group, saying Palin has been "set up a few times before" by Alaska Family Council President Jim Minnery, such scheduling snafus appear to have become a regular occurrence for Palin, one of the Republican Party's most popular figures.
Minnery has not yet responded to CNN's request for comment.
In August, it was announced she would not attend a California Republican women's group event after that organization had promoted her appearance for weeks.
Confusion also surrounded Palin's involvement in events earlier this year including the Conservative Political Action Conference, and a major GOP fundraiser in Washington whose organizers had plugged her as the headliner.
Organizers at all of those events say they believed they had received assurances from her representatives, only to learn that either the former governor's aides in Alaska or her staff at SarahPAC had been unaware of the commitment. That set of advisors would then announce publicly that Palin had never planned to attend the event.
Palin did end up appearing at the GOP fundraiser but did not speak as originally planned.

What do you expect from the QuitBull?
please get palin out of the news. she is definately not news worthy anymore. people are tired of hearing about dumb woman!
I still wonder what was McCain drinking when he picked her...
Sarah Palin will remain in the news until liberals find a new target for their discontent, regardless of how irrelevant she.
Regardless, I would hope CNN would stay above the fray and stop reporting on this national figure who never should have been.
Please keep this woman out of the news, this is just what she wants, is to be in the news always. Camera hound. thank you.
Got my cheesy Celeb tabloid fix for the day. Thanks, CNN!
no one EVER CARES.
isn't it Palin season in Alaska! I think Anna Nichole Smith could have governed better
Why is this article on the internet. A quack whom is not at an event that she was not asked to speak at and was out of town anyway! Please let go of Palin. She is a nut and not newsworthy!
News worthy? How many Democratic Legislators cancelled/altered commitments for townhall meetings this month? I can name several in IA and NE who had "conflicts" and cancelled multiple town halls! That didn't make CNN's news. Apparently not wanting to hear comments from constituents is not as newsworthy as a former politician missing a local speaking agreement. Hmmm, is there a double standard in the media????
I wonder how much longer people are going to lap up your pathetic attempts to divert attention from this disastrous administration by squawking about a person whose not even in office any more.
Palin is showing that she isn't really ready to handle much of anything including a schedual that has more than one thing in a week.
I do love a train wreck!
To CNN: Can you please stick to reporting real news, not this foolishness about Palin. More important things are happening.
So what the Heck is your point, shes stupid, forgettful, inconsiderate, what? The deficit is going to 9 trillion and counting, weve had a record month of casualties in the wars. Think you can take one day and get on with things.
Next we'll be told that she came back from the grocery store 5 times last year missing items from her list.
What a witch, The horror.
A heartbeat from president? She can't interpret a calendar.
why does anyone ask her to do anything?
CNN................. You wonder why your ratings are dropping? If you can't find something relevant for Alexander Mooney to write about, then re-assign him or drop him. Your news has become a joke.
She wasn't asked??? Give me a break.....
CNN please stop giving us her daily routine....DON'T CARE!!!
SHE'S A QUITTER.....
I'm going to be your governor for four years, I mean three years, no really, I mean maybe almost three years...oh heck, I quit. But I'm not a quitter!
There are 2 ways to become Famous:
1. To do Something Good.
2. To Criticize the person who did # 1. above.
Sarah Palin is Famous because she practices # 2.
Good. Combined with her resignation, every one of these "mishaps" just seals in the idea that she's a complete flake.
Man, for somebody who doesn't even have a job she sure has a lot of problems with her schedule!
how is this news? who cares?
She's still scum!
