(CNN) – Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin appears to be involved in another scheduling mishap, the fourth time in as many months organizers of an event expected an appearance from the GOP star only to discover at the last minute she would not attend.
The latest confusion involves an Alaska Family Council event Thursday night to promote a state ballot issue that would make it illegal for anyone under 18 years old to obtain an abortion without parental consent.
While the organization continues to bill Palin on its Web site as the top speaker at the kickoff for a statewide signature drive, a spokeswoman for the former governor says Palin had never agreed to participate, nor was she even asked.
"To this very moment, she has never been asked to give a speech at a public venue," Palin spokeswoman Meghan Stapleton told CNN.
Instead, Stapleton said, event organizers had invited Palin to attend a private fundraiser for the organization - but she declined the invitation because of prior out-of-state plans.
"The governor notified the group that she is out of town, but would make a donation," Stapleton said. "And she did also mention that since people have already begun signing the petition, she could sign the petition when she returns in the near future."
While a source places blame for the mixup on the group, saying Palin has been "set up a few times before" by Alaska Family Council President Jim Minnery, such scheduling snafus appear to have become a regular occurrence for Palin, one of the Republican Party's most popular figures.
Minnery has not yet responded to CNN's request for comment.
In August, it was announced she would not attend a California Republican women's group event after that organization had promoted her appearance for weeks.
Confusion also surrounded Palin's involvement in events earlier this year including the Conservative Political Action Conference, and a major GOP fundraiser in Washington whose organizers had plugged her as the headliner.
Organizers at all of those events say they believed they had received assurances from her representatives, only to learn that either the former governor's aides in Alaska or her staff at SarahPAC had been unaware of the commitment. That set of advisors would then announce publicly that Palin had never planned to attend the event.
Palin did end up appearing at the GOP fundraiser but did not speak as originally planned.

Who cares?? I mean really, I make scheduling misshaps all the time. I'm just an every day person. As much as I dislike what Sarah stand for, she still has pretty full plate. Even though she is a quitter :0) I can see this happening to anyone. CNN this is not even newsworthy.

Someone who can't manage her own calendar thinks she can manage the country? Good looks and lip service can only take you so far, then you either have it or not. She does not. I thought that was obvious about a day after we all learned who Sarah Palin was.
Just call her "no show Palin" goes along with her intelligence.
It wasn't her fault. It was a calendar malfunction.

Looks to me like there is a significant pattern here. Ever notice how the little girl, Piper, is always by her mother's side? Maybe little Piper is also Ms. Palin's secretary and scheduler, 'cause it appears a child is in charge of Ms. Palin's calendar! Can you imagine the chaos and snafu's if she held another elected position?......"Ms. Palin, Prime Minister Putin has been waiting in the lobby for 2 days for your meeting"......."Piper, where is the calendar?"
And some people wanted this thing for Vice President????
Thankfully, we have women in Government and in leadership positions throughout this country who demonstrate every day why they are in power and why they hold responsbility.
Palin is not one of them and stands in the shadows of giants as the little spoiled brat that she is.
And CNN.....once again....just what is your deal with putting Palin stupid stuff on your website constantly?? Do you realize that your more obssessed with her then anyone else??

Proof right there...if she can't even keep two groups of aides straight, how in the world would she be able to keep a country together? What a farce.
Yet another example of shoddy reporting and rush to judgement. I can claim that Obama promised to speak at my grade school reunion, and no one would take it seriously– it could be quickly verified by the officials whether I had really extracted a promise or just was tooting my own horn. How hard would it be for CNN and all their other tools to verify? Instead, any innuendo is published as a fact! Boo to CNN and any of the media who report this without doing their homework. You are no better than the blogger who writes this story from their home, or the gossip at the beauty shop.
