'Tea Party Express' trucks on with tour aimed at health care

WASHINGTON (CNN) - They're angry and not going to take it anymore. And now they are doing something about it – again.

On Friday, the "Tea Party Express" group will travel cross-country on a bus tour starting in Sacramento, California and winding down in Washington, D.C. on September 12.

It's at that point, the group notes, that a three-day march on the nation's capitol will take place to protest the country's rising deficit and fear over taxes being raised.

The tea party movement gained momentum this year as several parties were held across the country this summer to protest President Obama and the Democrats' economic stimulus plans, among other things.

On July 4, nearly 2,000 advocates - toting signs and chanting slogans - rallied outside Congress. Activists said the TEA Party Day - an acronym for "Taxed Enough Already" - was in response to what they called runaway government spending.

But now, the focus is namely on health care reform – a key issue that has created the spark for a bigger, wide-encompassing debate throughout the country and in Congress.

"What brought everything together was the Obama-care idea, which contains every odiferous objection," Tea Party Express organizer Mark Williams said Friday. "Is it health care? [Ted] Kennedy care?"

Wonderful...the ignorant and uninformed are taking to the streets and protesting against imagined fears. These are some of the most uniformed people in the healthcare debate, but of course, they are also the most vocal. Conservative operatives have whipped their feeble-minded drones into a frenzy and unleashed them upon the world to spread fear and misinformation.

I just don't get why the people on this website don't seem to care about what O'Bama is spending...on Healthcare and everything else. None of us like what Bush was spending, but O'Bama is quad-droopling it (or however you spell it). Maybe the one's who don't care can pay for most of it...and the one's who do care...just pay for what is right and fair.

They seem to forget (or not want to admit ) the DEMS were a HUGE part of getting us into this economic mess (they were in control since 2006 and the housing market crash was caused by the lack of Fannie and Freddie Regulations from the Barn, Chris and Waters brigade). George W. and McCain did warn and was ignored).

yeah when Bush was president these folks just sat back and took whatever was given to them...no tea parties then were there? Yet Obama has become president and it supposed to fix it in 8 months. All this anger is just a response from those on the right that are still angry that they are no longer in power, and even worse some that will not accept that their president is no longer one that, shall we say "looks like them". If that wasn't the case then there would be no racists signs that show up at a lot of the rallies. I too don't like high taxes, too many taxes, but it's not totally the fault of the current adminstration. If these tea parties had started last year or the year before they would have more creditability in my opinion.

Screaming right-wing lunatics do nothing but discredit themselves and the Republican party. They demonstrate, every week, that they are against reform, will never compromise and try to intimidate everyone who disagrees with them with overtones of violence and hate. This leaves the Democrats no choice but to force their agenda using reconciliation. The Democrats can do it, will do it, will get away with it and will not pay a big political penalty. Why? Because these "Tea Party" animals, funded by Republican-leaning corporations and tacitly endorsed by the Republican party, are drowning out any and all intelligent conservative arguments. This is another example the Republican party narrowing their focus to extremists leaving moderate conservatives with nothing. That's why the GOP can't gain ground.

The fact there is this level of response in one day tellsme the Tea pArty Express is already a success and the liberals can't handle it. WHat's the matter? It's OK to rant and rave about the War in Iraq and call the President every name in the book, but as soon as someone else has an opinion the liberals lose their sense of Free Speech? Who's the hypocrite?

The Tea Party movement is full of people who make this country work. Hard working, decent Americans who can't stand to watch the government fork over more and more money to people who just take and take.

Nice tribute to the late great Senator Kennedy who could at least argue very effectively the merits of the topics being debated – way to go Liberal's for only knowing how to insult ordinary Americans and not debating the facts of legislation pushed in Congress.

Thank you for showing all to see what the Democratic party is all about – we had Tom Delay ruin the Republican party and now you have Nancy Pelosi ruining the Democratic party, keep it up and welcome back Republicans into power in 2010 and hopefully they will return fiscal responsibilitiy back to our Government that has been missing since Speaker Gingrich in the mid 90's

'These' people are you Moms, Dads, Grandparents, cousins, neighbors, doctors, lawyers, you corner store owner, you small buisness owner, etc.................the way things are going...either the top elite that are pushing this are going to have to dumb down their policy objectives or throw the whole idea in the garbage and start anew. People are REALLY upset with what they are reading and hearing and they are not settling down. Do I smell a revived America that speaks up?

It is important that these uniformed right wing nuts do all this to protect millionaire lobbyist Dick Armey's high paying job with the health care industry.

Obama more than doubled Bush's deficit in his first 6 months in office – WAKE UP. If any of you sheep would pay attention Bush's number were extremely the last 2-3 years because conservatives were sick of excessive spending. I doubt that will happen with Obama since most of his sheep would follow him off a cliff.

Let all versions of the health care reform legislation die with Ted Kennedy. Americans don’t want it and will hang this on the Democrats and vote them out of office. Obama, the teleprompter president may see the light as too what the American people want. Stop piling on more DEBT, this is driving our nation into bankruptcy.

I think that if I had a TV show on Fox News and spent several months telling people that housecats were actually called tigers, i could probably get a decent segment of the population to eventually believe it, especially if I preface it with the headline that cats are out to destroy America.

BTW Repubs I hope you don't lose your insurance any time soon or you will be begging for health care reform.

Heard about the "strategy memo," issued by the Connecticut-based group Right Principles, calls on conservatives to "pack the hall" and "yell out and challenge" lawmakers.

The group's leader has ties to FreedomWorks, an advocacy organization headed by former House majority leader Richard K. Armey (R-Tex.).

Armey said in an interview that the widespread protests over health-care reform could not happen unless people were "truly scared." "If you are going to go ugly, go ugly early."

    Sound like true "grassroots" ???.
