(CNN) – Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin's first major speaking engagement after leaving office won't be in Iowa, New Hampshire or South Carolina.
Instead, she's apparently headed to Hong Kong.
According to the Hong Kong-based brokerage firm CLSA, Palin will be the keynote speaker at their 16th annual investor's conference in September. The conference of financial heavy-hitters brings together hundreds of CEOs, CIOs and fund managers from around the world. In agreeing to speak, Palin's joining some esteemed company: past speakers at the conference have included Bill Clinton, Alan Greenspan, Al Gore and Desmond Tutu.
The former governor's spokesman was not immediately available to confirm the speaking engagment, which was announced in a press release Monday by CLSA. Palin's team hasn't always been on the same page as event organizers who have billed her as as a headline speaker. Over the last four months, organizers at conservative events in Alaska and in Washington, D.C. have announced appearances by the GOP star, only to discover at the last minute she would not attend.
CLSA appeared firm in their plans Monday, telling reporters that Palin is making her first trip to Asia. "As the first female governor of Alaska and the youngest person ever elected governor of that state, Palin has broken new ground in U.S. politics and we are delighted that she will make her first visit to Asia to present at the CLSA Investors' Forum," CLSA chairman Jonathan Sloane said in a statement.
Since departing office in July, Palin has been busy writing her book, a memoir set to be published in spring 2010 by HarperCollins. Her father Chuck Heath told The (Spokane, Washington) Spokesman-Review Friday that his daughter "has been out of town for almost a month now" working on the draft.
"I don't know exactly where she is, but she's writing her book," Heath said. "She e-mails me quite frequently. She asks, 'Oh, what happened on June 13, 1978?' This is material for her book."
Heath said Palin asks him about "trivial things like maybe a basketball game, 'How many points did I score here?' 'When did we go to the Boston Marathon?' Mainly sports."

Guess Palin has been laughed out,uninvited to speak for, any further engagements in the US and now takes the only thing left–speaking out of country.....Maybe there will be someone in attendace who she plans on teaching her "fuzzy math" to.
Sure hope the CLSA does't hold their collective breath waiting for her to "show"!
We all eagerly await the forthcoming cancellation announcement.

Thank god for a Palin story on the ticker, I was about to start thinking about the failures of the Obama administration and his plumeting approval ratings. Now, thankfully, I can focus on a non-elected public citizen instead of all the problems our country faces.

I guess they want to know what NOT to do. Look at the other names, people that didn't quit their cause or job. People that stayed through the length of their terms and THEN went into public speaking. People that raised families, dealt with media...but still found the ability to go to work with out quiting.
Obviously they want to know how the other half lives for a change. Hence, here comes Sarah. Hope she makes it actually...that would be a big thing...for her to actually show up once in her lifetime.
Gee I didn't know that the Hong Kong Group would be interested in gutting a moose.

They must be really desperate for a speaker.
Democrats and the MSM don't like her because she so effectively insulted the One during her Republican convention speach. They can't believe she had the gaul to call Obama out on the carpet like she did. She of little experience, had far more experience than Obama, and therefore had the credibility to call him out on his lack of experience and rightfully pointed out the MSM's complicity in the whole deal.
And low and behold, she was right on both counts. That's why you hate her.
She can speak on how much she loves Chinese take out and how the Chinese own America as she does here....and make sure she quits in the middle of the speech....

Sarah Palin has over one thousand speaking requests. It's highly doubtful she'll make them all though it proves one major point... she is immensely popular. Go Sarah 2012!!

The CLSA hired her as a hostess, who they thought would bringing Salmon from Alaska for their dinners. Jonathon Sloane probably believes that he'll get some booty from with the invitation. What's that fishy smell.......

The Chinese Investors are definitely not interested in her business strategies....They want something pretty to look at and shes qualified for that....
I bet that within a few days of the conference, Palin will claim she didn't know anything about it and didn't commit.
