WASHINGTON (CNN) – As Congress prepares to come back from its August recess and tackle health care reform, the question arises whether lawmakers will do something in honor of the "Lion of the Senate" - or should Congress simply start over?
Democratic Sen. Ted Kennedy, who died last week, was a staunch advocate of health care reform.
Following his burial over the weekend, Democratic lawmakers said they hoped Kennedy's memory will inspire legislators to start looking for compromise on stalled reform plans.
One of Kennedy's best friends in the Senate, Chris Dodd of Connecticut, urged legislators to bring civility to health care negotiations.
With TAXES and FEES going up (FEDERAL and CALIFORNIA), it's gettting more and more expensive to run a business.
Our new company motto is as follows:
You voted for change, you get it. You're the first to be laid off. How do you like that change?
There is nothing next in the debate. Both sides have made their case and over 75% of Americans favor a bill with a public option.
Now its time for our so-called representatives to vote and go on record "up" or "down."
Lets see how well those who obstructed this vital reform do in the next elections.
What is the big debate here?
The majority of the American people to want real reform and a public option.
The American people voted for Democratic majorities in the House and Senate.
And the health care system in this country will fall apart within a few years if nothing is done and, if we don't get real reform to fix it, it will remain largely broken.
What happened to Obama's audacity of hope?
What was Obama talking about when he said "the fierce urgency of now" during the last campaign, and why did we keep chanting "yes we can" if we send them there and in reality they just simply can't?
Why did we vote for leaders of the Democratic Party in '08 if they can't do for this issue what Bush and his colleagues did for the invasion of Iraq?
The Republicans cannot and will not be civil. To be civil and have a thoughtful debate one needs to use facts. Republicans never use facts, just fears and lies. If they don't have you hiding under your bed, they think they are failing. They are the Chicken Little party. The Democrats just need to move forward. Let the Republicans talk to each other on talk radio and watch Fox News, convinced the sky will fall at any moment.
Its amazing the the Christians in the Republican Party do not seem to have any concern for their "brother." Where did Jesus say, "I got mine, the rest of you can die." They keep saying they don't want government in people's lives , except in religious beliefs or how to live your private life. They seem to have no problem paying taxes forunwarrented wars, arms etc. Anything to "help their neigbor" just must not be in their Bible. And they have the nerve to tell everyone else they are "sinners." If it wasn't so pathetic, it would be funny.
Congress should clearly describe to the public what each of the many bills in the House and Senate say and do.
For instance the HR 3200 bill in the House creates a 27 member committee of government appointed officals(19 by the President). This committee has great power in defining a qualified insurance plan. After 5 years only qualified insurance plans can exist, if you have a private plan that does not meet the definition of a government defined qualifed plan, you can't keep it after the 5 year grace period.
Those who are defending the HR3200 bill in the House never talk about this new committee and the great power it will have over your health care.
All the plans should be clearly described so the public can understand and then Obama should clearly state which one he supports. After all he wanted a bill passed by August 1, which one did he want?
If one of the bills is supported by a majority of voters, go with that one. If none pass muster, then start over.
Perhaps we would vote for the Universal Health Care Plan....IF...and ....only IF....all of our Senators and Representatives and the Administration AGREED to be on the Plan themselves.....WHAT...they voted NOT to be on it and keep the FREE HEALTH CARE PLAN that they are currently on...Who's running this SHOW....Out unintelligent Politicians ( that we unfortunately elected )....OR THE PEOPLE of this great country!!! Is it time for an all inclusive RECALL and start from scratch ??? With some Business people and NOT SO MANY LAWYERS....perhaps that I our problem today.. who the hell can read 1017 +/- pages in the current Universal Health Care Proposal anyway and the majority of the US Citizens are NOT for the current Plan or the Public option anyway.
Simple question libs, explain why there is no tort reform in this health insurance reform mess? Why not? If you can provide an honest answer you are much better than Obama, Pelosi, Reid or the late huckster Kennedy.
There will be healthcare reform when Obama fullfills his bipartisan election promise. But of course, only fools play this waiting game..
Obama is going to show us his own Healthcare Plan!! Right...?
ILLEGALS should get HEALTH CARE.
Stopping HEALTH CARE for ILLEGALS is INHUMAN.
GOP never STOPPED illegals to get into US in the last 8 years.
STOPPING illegal immigartion is NOT INHUMAN.
STOPPING health care to illegals is INHUMAN.
STOP ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION – NOT HEALTH CARE TO ILLEGALS.
Once again – as the Democrats control the White House, the House of Representatives and the Senate – How by any stretch of logic or reason is it the Republicans' fault that they can't pass health care reform?
Americans should really start reading the on-line sites for papers in Canada, Britain, France, etc. Go on, check a variety of them. I go to a couple for each country. There are huge problems with their nationalized health systems. People are waiting weeks and months for tests and procedures.
And if health care reform passes, where on earth are the doctors coming from? And why would anyone want to be a doctor when some idiot lawyer can sue them for malpractice and destroy everything they've worked for? Not to mention the education loans.
Too much change way too fast. The country is reeling from all of this.
Health care reform must be passed soon, for every day it is not passed thousands of Americans fall into one trap or another(bankruptcy, children missing immunizations, ect.).
It is time to stand up to these fear mongering bullies and wilfully uninformed and ignorant bigots from the GOP and the insurance industry.
The GOP is basing thier strategy against health reform on a lie. The truth will have to be told often and loadly to defeat these liars.
Note to Democrats,
If you have to go it alone you better! If you can not get this done the American people will continue to view you as spineless and unorganized.
Whatever's Next, I'm Certain Republicans Will Blatently Distort The Truuh Of It. I'm Also Sure That CNN Will Give Volume To Their Shenanigans.
