Florida GOP chair: Obama trying to 'indoctrinate' children

WASHINGTON (CNN) – The chairman of the Republican Party of Florida on Tuesday issued a statement to "condemn President Obama's use of taxpayer dollars to indoctrinate America's children to his socialist agenda."

Jim Greer also accused President Obama of "using our children as tools to spread liberal propaganda."

The state party chair issued the statement in response to a White House announcement that Obama would appear in a nationally broadcast address to primary school students around the country. The White House has said the president would be urging students to “(take) responsibility for their success in school.”

"As the father of four children, I am absolutely appalled that taxpayer dollars are being used to spread President Obama's socialist ideology," Greer said.

The Department of Education has released documents that list suggested questions for students to consider during the speech, and activities that teachers can use to guide discussion afterward. Activities listed include creating posters outlining their personal and academic goals, and “(writing) letters to themselves about what they can do to help the president.”

What is wrong with the GOP these days. Maybe with the President's help the children in this State may even know the name of the guy. Do you know how many children in school didn't know the name of the current President, and some were high school students. Perhaps Obama might even instill a sense of obligation to get involved with our country from a young age. I am tired of the good 'ol boy concept that the Republicans have tried to feed us for so many years. Go take a bath, get your pacifier and go to bed. We don't need you or your old fashioned ways.

They call it indoctrination because they fear what truths the child sees. The innocence of a child that learns that white and black are equal and America has freedom of religion keeps them from "seeing" the socilism that the rage blinded wingnuts want to see. Your children like Obama because he is confident intelligent and cool..should they grow to doubt your racist agenda because they like him, then you shield them from him.

This is exactly why my kids go to private school. Obama is going to be even LESS popular after this socialist indictrination. This is over the line. Please note that Obama's kids go to private school so will most likely miss the message. You know he wouldn't send his kids to public school thats for the rest of us peons.

The Florida GOP chair is an idiot who has shown his true colors. Socialism? What about Bush's prescription drug benefit for Medicare? Bush exploded the deficit with no restraint on spending despite 6 years of a Republican Congress. Greer has shamed himself by attacking our Commander in Chief during wartime.

So the president is going to tell kids to take responsibility for their success in school and that is somehow socialism? The GOP is truly becoming the party of stupid. Ugh.

Teaching our young children personal responsibility is a wonderful idea and I applaud the President and his efforts.

As a Republican I think the children should see this video and then their parents should talk to them about it that night. It's harsh, but these kids need to then see the videos of all of the people being rounded up and shot under Communist/Sociaist rule(Obama has communists in his cabnet-FACT). These kids need to understand the damage to their nation that a far left Dictator brings, so that our great nation never makes the same mistake again.

Any republican that agrees with Greer's comments on socialism and also contributes or takes from Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, public education, or bought a car under the "Cash for Clunkers" program is a straight-up hypocrite. Where was this outrage against socialism when George Bush tried to privatize social security a few years back? The majority of the country was against that plan and that would have been a capitalist change to socialist system. What gives?

When Obama took his oath...He put his hand on a Bible and swore to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution...Not the other way around

You've got to be kidding. Telling students to be responsible for their education is socialism? Someone needs a good dictionary.

  15. Counting the days until the Obamanation is GONE and America can prosper again

It's NOT the Obamanation speaking to the kids that's the problem! It's the SUGGESTIONS on HOW TO GET HIS AGENDA FORWARD. Let him speak all day long, maybe the teleprompter will say something productive, and maybe even important. However, don't make our kids parrot back how wonderful the Socialist agenda is.
